Characters / Flower Knight Girl — Lotus Lake

Go To

The south-eastern nation of Spring Garden, a city floating atop of massive lilypads, with an Underwater City below.

Prior to the "Beyond The Boundaries of the Reflecting Water" event, the place was closed off and surrounded by fog, bound by the restriction to prevent its inhabitants from leaving and unwanted guests from entering, all to protect the nation from the ever-present threat of Pests. With the invasion of a new species of water-bound Pests attacking in the above debut event, the safety was compromised and outside help was called in, eventually leading to the law that enforced the segregation being dissipated.

Nation-wide Tropes

  • Making a Splash: A good majority of the knights featured in Lotus Lake have an affinity for water magic, as shown in their attacking animations, reflecting their connection to her water-bound home.

  • Childhood Friends: With the queen of the Lotus Lake underwater region, Lotus, making for a bond beyond merely being her servant.
  • Foil: With her twin sister, Blood Iris. They're both born into a family of knights that are meant to protect and serve their respective queen. Rabbit-ear Iris is motivated to protect Lotus due to their emotional connection as Childhood Friends and considers herself an "equal" to them, while Blood Iris doesn't share an "equal" connection to Pygmy Water Lily.
  • I Owe You My Life: Back in knighthood school, when Rabbit-ear Iris wasn't as capable in self-defense, Lotus was the one to save her in her time of need. Ever since, she has devoted herself to aiding Lotus, regardless of it being part of her job or not.

  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Like prior nation queens before her, Lotus also serves as a Flower Knight who engages in the action, with her debut special event even emphasizing her involvement in dealing with the pest invasion of her nation. Her recruitment introduction even discusses this, noting how her people were opposed to her fighting as a Flower Knight, but Lotus insists that she should and shall fight for the nation.

  • Sultry Belly Dancer: She's a dancer who dresses in Arabian-inspired, midriff-exposing top with open-cut baggy pants, complemented by her generous figure.

  • Hero-Worshipper: Adenium is who she looks up to and wishes to be like, due to them saving her back when she was a lost child in Lotus Lake. For her character quest, she imitates them in both mannerisms and spirit to patch up her otherwise fearful disposition. She even read up on about 100 tales of Adenium's heroism.
  • Irritation Is the Sincerest Form of Flattery: For her character quest, Flowering Rush believes that in order to be a strong Flower Knight like Adenium, she's got to act like them down to their mannerisms and attitude. She largely grows of this at the end, learning to merely imitate the best individual traits of her inspiration(s) rather than the whole.

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her long hair is primarily yellow, with a gradient turning it white as it extends downward, like the color scheme of her flower.
  • BFG: She carries a large cannon on her shoulder that shoots eggs at foes. The cannon gets even bigger and elaborate in her stronger Evolution forms.
  • The Fashionista: She loves to dress up, seeing it as a means of changing oneself. And from her sunhat and elaborate skirt dress, she evidently cares about her appearance as much as she does wielding that BFG most of the time.
  • Flower Motifs: Her namesake flower gets its name from the color scheme of yellow in the center and white as the petals, like the insides of an egg along with its shell. As such, the colors of white and yellow are primarily featured in her design.
  • Proj-egg-tile: She fires exploding Easter eggs out from her BFG cannon.
  • Stylish Sunhats: With her love of dressing up, she's complemented by her large sunhat.

  • Competition Freak: Her language of flowers is "Love of Competition", and she holds to that with her love of board games.
  • Love at First Sight: In Creeping Jenny's early affection dialogue, she remarks seeing the Commander by chance before properly meeting, recognizing them due to how well-known they quickly became in Lotus Lake — subsequently falling for them.
  • Smart People Play Chess: Subverted. She proclaims her love for board games since she was a child, and claims to be good at strategies to get her opponent in trouble. While that may suggest her to be incredibly smart, she also implies to resort to underhanded psychological warfare of a "dirty" nature to net her wins.
  • The Tease: Because of her sadism, she loves to getting those worked up in some fashion. From offering food that gives a "numbing" sensation, to proclaiming to punish the Commander for not watching over her enough.
  • Whip of Dominance: To befit her sadistic BDSM persona, she's got a green whip with a sharp end meant for combat.

  • Girlish Pigtails: She's a Tsundere type and accordingly, her hair is tied up into twintails.
  • It Was a Gift: Her signature spear-umbrella, Ombrecchio, was created and gifted to her by her parents.
  • Mix-and-Match Weapon: She wields a spear that doubles as an umbrella — the former function for skewering her foes, and the latter for drilling and bashing.
  • Tsundere: Wishy-washy about expressing her feelings from the heart. To illustrate: her "positive" generic line is proclaiming to not being happy about something.

  • Playboy Bunny: She wears a playboy bunny outfit in her Easter form.
  • Strange-Syntax Speaker: She regularly speaks in an odd halting pattern that minimizes the use of syllables in her Japanese and keeps the sentences short. This Because it's harder to convey her odd speech pattern in English, here's the raw Japanese text of her first Vice-Leader conversation (accompanied by a direct translation) to illustrate:

  • Hidden Depths: Lobelia's favorite gift type is cake, opposing her image of sadism and masochism.
  • Kinky Spanking: Her closet fetish, as revealed in her journal, with Cowslip exploiting this to have her change her manner of treating her students.
  • Sadist Teacher: The fact that she's known as the "Demonic Instructor" says it all about her teaching methods. Lobelia subjects her students to some grueling work and activities, yet seems to believe that this is all perfectly fine for her job.

  • Lethal Chef: Subverted. Her cooking may be unsightly to look at, what with it being a purple sludge obscured by a mosaic, those who actually try eating it — including her close friends such as Buckbean, plus the Commander — remark that it actually tastes pretty good. Though, one has to wonder what she puts in her cooking to get the visual results.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: In her original design, her top consists of only two narrow strips of clothing that just barely cover her breasts, showing off her cleavage and abdomen.
  • Nice Girl: With the meanings of "Trust", "Modesty" and "Serenity", she a kind girl who wishes to help her close friends remain happy, and in moments of anger she merely remarks "These things happen, don't they?" in her usual tone — even her "Angry" portrait looks more sad than mad.
  • Sexy Slit Dress: She wears a dress with a high slit up the thigh.

Furthermore, they're both affiliated with the Sleeping Princess, Silk Tree, with Sparaxis being part of a group that serve to protect and maintain the sealing of Silk Tree for the past one thousand years, while Laeva served her once upon a time but underwent a change in morals once Silk Tree suffered from the curse that necessitated her sealing.
  • Making a Splash: She's accompanied by a familiar made of water, and her attacks, while melee at first glance, summons splashes of water to augment her strength — her familiar in particular sending out spikes made of the element in the skill attack: Twin Sword Water Spirit "Rivendell's Fang".

  • Mad Scientist: She aspires to be more like this in her approach to research, as while she herself is not quite as crazy at her roots, she wants to break free from her normalcy to be more passionate about her research.
  • Sleep Deprivation: One of her methods of being more "Mad-like" is by deliberately neglecting her sleep schedule by doing research in the middle of the night. She's evidently not as used to this as Rosemary, going by her early Login line where she struggles to stay awake.

Priestess, ship carpenter, and member of the Tritonia Survey Team.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She brings a ship oar into fighting against Pests, reflecting her ship carpentry job.
  • Irony: She's a priestess who has made a Vow of Celibacy, complete with her Language of Flowers "Prayer of Purity", yet she's got incredibly unstable hormone imbalance when it comes to the Commander. Furthermore, her Date scene dialogue is rather sexually explicit, possibly moreso than her NSFW-exclusive scene.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: While she deliberately limits herself with her Vow of Celibacy, she's come to see the Commander as the exception that she can't help but feel... various things for them.
  • Vow of Celibacy: Being a priestess, she imposes on herself to not have feelings for the opposite sex. She evidently has a hard time with keeping to this, especially when the topic of the hormones in her breasts come up.

Language of Flowers: Pure Nerves, Pure In Heart, Love At First Sight
Artist: Unknown

  • Humble Hero: She's got quite a few young Flower Knights who look up to her, yet she herself doesn't quite understand how she's this beloved for her work.
  • Love at First Sight: Her Language of Flowers is word-for-word this trope, and while she never explicitly state that she felt this directly with the Commander, her Vice-Leader idle line suggests that she feels attached to them even if she's at zero affection, making for an Implied Trope.
  • Stone Wall: Once she's Rarity Grown, Adenium's got the abilities to make her one of the hardiest Flower Knight to defeat. First off, she has a 50% defense increase, along with extra chance-based damage reduction. Secondly, she's capable of healing herself through her Life Drain skill attack (which effectively becomes more frequent/guaranteed with each turn that passes) and Gradual Regeneration ability 1/4 of the time. And finally, she gets evasion and Guts to allow her to stay on the field guaranteed for the beginning of a fight. Whereas most other knights may fall to a particularly hardy opponent, Adenium (outside of particularly powerful Superbosses) is likely to still remain standing and outlast the opponent.

The rabbit lady card dealer of Paffan Notte, who's working to pay off a massive dept owed to Hyacinth.
  • Cards of Power: Going with her overall theme and occupation, she's accompanied by floating, orbiting playing cards, which she can coordinate to strike her foe alongside her rapier.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: As a child, she was abandoned by her parents for her rabbit ears, then, by a sleazy aristocrat, was subsequently captured and made the commodity of a game — ie, she was Human Trafficked — because of her being considered a "rarity" for her ears. And she would've been bought off by a like-minded rich individual, had it not been for Hyacinth stepping in to buy her off and give her a place to live under the pretense of paying off all that money).
  • I Owe You My Life: Implied. She makes note that if she ever manages to fully clear her dept to Hyacinth, it wouldn't really change her position or mood about working with them, likely because of Hyacinth effectively saving Hare's Ear and also giving her a place to live/work at, the latter feels she owes the former regardless.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Floppy rabbit ears sprout from atop her head, along with a bunny tail on her backside (as shown in her Evolution form).
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's a tall and curvy woman with (in her original design) an eye-catching leotard/corset ensemble, courtesy of her "sexy card dealer" theme.
  • Parental Abandonment: Hare's Ear's parents had promptly abandoned her because of her rabbit ears out of disgust. And that's just the first of her troubles.
  • Playboy Bunny: Her design is obviously based on this, with her being a bunny girl in a revealing leotard. The Mobile version downplays it by giving her a skirt.
  • Showgirl Skirt: She wears a Playboy Bunny-style outfit with a see-through coattail on the back.
  • Work Off the Debt: She's been working as a card dealer for Hyacinth to pay off her dept, which is hinted to be bigger than the Commander's pay (implicitly quite high). The dept comes from the time Hyacinth saved Hare's Ear from an aristocrat's game where the latter was sold for a high price, and after winning their freedom, the latter had owed "an unbelievable amount of money" to the former, thus being given a job at the Paffan Notte to work towards recouping the loss. Despite being saddle with this absurd responsiblity, Hare's Ear goes through with the job out of obligation, both in the monetary and sentimental sense.

  • Foil: With their twin sibling, Blood Iris. They're both servants for their respective queen, one with a connection and one who does not; Blood Iris being the latter. Their skill attacks are even mirror opposites, Blood Iris' being called "Hope-Ending Wave Cutter" and Rabbit-ear Iris' being "Lucky Wave Slashing Cross". The overall heavy contrasts are lampshaded in the Yonkoma featuring both of them, their manner of expressing themselves utterly shocking Sparaxis.
  • Not So Stoic: Her "Joyful" animation has her jump for joy much like her sister, unlike her normal attitude and other contrasting traits.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: With Rabbit-ear Iris, exaggerated to the point of being complete foils of one another. Whereas Rabbit-ear Iris is highly emotive, Blood Iris is doll-faced by comparison — highlighted in the Yonkoma that's fittingly titled "Polar opposite twin sisters?".
  • The Stoic: In great contrast to her sister, she's more cold and doll-like in her mannerisms, almost to the point that she seems apathetic towards her queen and sister.

Henna speculates that the floating island that was surveyed by the Tritonia team in the "A record of one summer's ocean research" event may be where she originates from, going by what was discovered about it (the island being attacked by pests, underwent an emergency evacuation, and becoming submerged afterwards).

And with her mother's death, Statice values spending time with her loved ones more than anything else, along with being particularly bitter and angry towards those who'd take that happiness away — that naturally being the Pests.

They also seems to reflect Angelica's personality, with Angelica herself displaying a loving or mischevious side during the animation for the respective angel and devil variants of her skill attack.

Furthermore, the plant's name is derived from the Greek word cheimanos, meaning "tender" or "sensitive to cold", which is also something Achimenes shares, feeling sleepy in cold weather.
  • The Slacker: If the weather gets too hot for her, she feels lazy, and if the weather is too cold, she feels sleepy. Played With, as she's not normally like this, and would personally go out of her way to avoid and/or resist the weather for other's sake.
  • Verbal Tic: Ends her sentences with Nanodesu, meaning "that's what it is."

  • Acronym and Abbreviation Overload: She likes to abreviate the long names of her associates, calling Sparaxis "Sue-chan", Horedumnote  as "Ho-chan", etc. Because of this, she's definitely not in good graces with Clove, who prefers to go by Full-Name Basis, and the Commander himself has to ask her who precisely she's referring to at some point (to which she doesn't exactly help with).
  • Anime Hair: The way her hair is tied up to her sides looks like a spread of leaves of her namesake plant, Cyperus papyrus.
  • Terrible Artist: Her hobby may be in drawing, but a lot of what she draws is suggested to be far off the mark of whatever she intends, from her picture of a dog being mistaken for a Pest, to... something that was intended to be a cat, but ended up looking like "a creature that scares the little ones".

The Sleeping Princess of Lotus Lake legend. Formerly a queen of her nation a thousand years ago before she was sealed away to save her from the pestification curse. With the combined clash of the Commander's Solar Blade and Laeva's magic, Silk Tree finds herself cured of her curse and subsequently awakening from her seal in the modern day.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Her folklore is mentioned in the Sleeping Princess of the Worshiping Flowers event, with her voice being heard as she blesses the party of knights with the power to combat the threat late into the story.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: She originates from a thousand years ago, back when she was a queen of the water basin nation, up until her infection had her set to be sealed away for the longest time, awakening into the modern day when she had long lost her title of queen and any other close relations she had at the time. Laeva themselves even makes note of them being "the loneliest individual in the world right now" in their request towards the Commander to take care of Silk Tree in their place.
  • The Ghost: She was acknowledged all over Lotus Lake from the various priestess and believers, and even had her voice be heard in the "Sleeping Princess of the Worshiping Flowers" event, yet never appeared in person until her proper debut.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: While the Neraida group (namely their leader Cardamine Lyrata) wants Silk Tree to return to her prior role as queen of the nation, she herself views that idea as a mere pipe dream, and just wants be treated like an individual not attached to royalty.
  • King Incognito: While she's long since lost her status as royalty many generations ago, she's still regarded highly in modern day with the story of her sealing having since turned her into a worshipped and prayed to Sleeping Princess. And since those same people wouldn't know who the Sleeping Princess looks like exactly, this gives her the opportunity to blend in with the locals, even participating in the Manhua festival — a festival effectively dedicated to her.
  • The Lost Lenore: Implied to be this for Laeva. While she was Only Mostly Dead due to suffering from the pestification poison and was sealed away for a thousand years, this fate of hers set Laeva on a dark path, with the implication that they were attached to her in a romantic manner.
  • Mundane Utility: Her Stamina Recovery line has her note that everything for a subjagation is ready except for the drinking water; she cites this as no issue with her ability to create it, regardless of the environment.
  • Only Mostly Dead: Getting afflicted with the pestification poison could've killed her off, but thanks to Laeva setting up an emergency ritual that locked her in suspended time asleep, she remained living on the verge of death for the following centuries. And while she lived to eventually recover, to Laeva, she might as well have been dead.
  • Sealed Good in a Can: Ever since Silk Tree was afflicted with the pestification poison, courtesy of the Ruler of the Dying World, she was sealed away by the Great Sage Laeva to suspend her in time to hopefully cure her one day.
  • Walking Spoiler: Discussing Silk Tree's backstory elaborates on the "Sleeping Princess" folk-story and reveals Laeva's motivation for their Face–Heel Turn.

  • Not So Above It All: Despite being a case of sensibility among the Holy See group, she continues the trend of the Holy See priestess' being quirky in some way, with her Date scene having her go to a lingere store with the Commander to buy some skimpy underwear. This being an odd form of Secret Test of Character taught by her grandmother to truly know the heart of a gentleman by having the Commander decide which of the three underwear — a small one with string attachments, a see-through one, and... straight up not wearing anything under her dress. — she should buy. Possibly downplayed, since she feels inclined to follow the lessons of her grandmother to a T, along with being clearly put out of her comfort zone with this act.
  • Only Sane Woman: While she has her own quirk, she's one of the more level-headed priestess's in the Holy See, which features such girls like the horomone-inbalanced Rough Potato, the false-believer Baikasou, and the klutzy Pickerel Weed. She even remarks in the Daily Gacha Pull that she'd, if possible, would like the next recruited knight to not be as "unique" as those in her circle of Flower Knight Priestess's.
  • Secret Test of Character: Taught by her grandmother is a method of knowing the heart of a gentlemen — lingere, with her trip to the store in the Date scene having her wear the undergarnments, all the while still wearing her usual ensemble on top, to ask the Commander to choose which of the three she should be wearing. Of the three, the Commander chose the first one, on the logic that Japanese Snowball Bush appeared more and more uncomfortable with the latter two underwear she secretly worn (well, "worn" in one case), and that she's better being in a more comfortable situation.

  • Dance Battler: She's a dancer, but also a Flower Knight, with both aspects naturally overlapping with her attacks, where she poses with her staff like it's a pole. Her high Affection Login line even has her note about a new type of movement she learned that she's considering how to incorporate into combat.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: Downplayed, as she's already settled for the art of dancing as her Goal in Life, but she was once told by her mom that her dancing didn't convey who or what she was dancing for. So, talking after her elder sister, she became a Flower Knight in an effort to find her purpose of dancing.

The Commander obliges that request with this trope, catching her off guard and feeling enamoured.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: She likes to seek praise and compliments for her efforts as a Flower Knight — largely from anyone, but particularly from the Commander — and is otherwise adverse to getting scolded (thanks to her teacher being Lobelia).

Antics include getting Clove to retrieve a pair of shorts belonging to a young boy, to claiming no ulterior motives when it comes to asking the Commander about their childhood. The Halloween Hazards minigame event, when she was Not Herself due to a desire-magnifying artifact, has them wanting Silk Tree to become queen just for the sake of having a group of young boys at her disposal, to the bewilderment and disgust of Hyakryo.
  • Covert Pervert: Her true desires are generally hidden by her front as a knightly-looking devout follower of the Sleeping Princess. • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: As the Commander's "mate", she wishes to be pampered and spoiled, not unlike a dog wanting to be petted.
  • Wolverine Claws: Her main weapon is a gauntlet with three long claws, befitting for a wolf girl.

  • Cannot Spit It Out: While she's able to honestly say "I love you" towards those she gets along with, romantic feelings are another matter for her, being less comfortable saying this towards men (though very much wanting to say so with confidence towards the Commander one day).
  • Weight Woe: Due to her popularity, she tends to be served a lot of different food, which contributes to her own concerns with a "flabby belly".

The self-proclaimed "Wizard" who's suspected of being a cheater. A regular of Parfum Notte who never loses any of her games.
  • Batman Gambit: In the "Gambler's Pride" event, she quickly catches on to the group suspecting her of cheating, and with people suddenly acting off-nature due to an outside factor, deliberately leads the group along by partaking in many different games where the individual conflicts are brewing so that they'll resolve them and eventually get to the source of the problems.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: Upon Hyacinthnote  asking to play a game of cards with her by the end of her debut event, Digitalis suddenly panics, making her leave under the pretense of having another appointment at her guest room.
  • In-Universe Nickname: She refers to herself as the "Wizard" for her incredible win-streak, with the more derogatory "Cheater" being used by those who suspect her as such.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: She only plays games she knows she's gonna win through her insight and good luck. While she'll play against just about anybody, Hyacinth seems to be the one person she isn't wanting to so much as entertain the idea, with her quickly making an excuse to leave in response to them suggesting that they'll play.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Her general ability to win any gambling game seems to be a form of sixth sense plus good luck — the former indicating to her that something's amiss with the casino-goers in her debut event, later revealed to be caused by a Pest giving off soundwaves near the Banana Ocean coastline that's affecting people mentally.

  • Lunacy: She conjures the image of the moon in her skill attack by rapidly twirling her sword on an opponent to form the circle — and to complete the "Moon Bisecting Claw" part of the name, she cleaves the moon in half with one sword slash, becoming an explosion cluster that further damages the opponent.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: She's a pink haired girl who's prone to caring for just about everyone in a motherly manner.

  • Blatant Lies: Some of the lies she habitually spews are of the outlandish type, such as, in response to questions regarding Common Zinnia, claiming the individual grew wings and flew away, or that she found them in her bento box in between her rice and sides.
  • Compulsive Liar: Befitting her Language of Flowers "Falsehood", she's prone to saying bold-faced lies just for the sake of it. This behavior stems from the time she once hurt her best friend over a righteous argument.

Rarity: ★★★★★★
Attribute: Slash
Affection Item: Cake
Language of Flowers: Innocence, Purity, Chastity, Guiltlessness, etc
Artist: Sakofu

A pure of heart girl born and became a Flower Knight under a starry night.
  • Broken Pedestal: Defied. For the event "By the Guidance of the Stars", the Commander is requested by the Lotus Lake queens to prevent the girl from directly meeting Sedum, due to the girl of pure heart holding a highly unrealistic viewpoint of the ecchi Astrologer that might result in disaster for both parties. Even when Sedum herself arrives on the scene and nearly introduces herself to Ornithogalum, the former's quickly instructed to take on a different identity of Great Hylotelephium, Sedum's disciple, so that the latter doesn't get her dreams crushed.
  • Fangirl: She's a huge fan of Sedum, holding an improbably high opinion of the astrologer and yearning to meet them one day.
  • Magical Floating Shawl: She wears a translucent hagoromo, adding to her "pure" image.
  • Purity Personified: Her Language of Flowers include "innocence" and "purity", and she's all around an extremely pure girl with no vices to her — even being strongly adverse to any sort of low grade sexual activity like kissing and Hand Holding.

  • Mystical White Hair: Her silver hair showcases her status as The Ageless.

  • The Ageless: Like Lucky Bamboo and Dracaena, her other two sisters before her, she stopped growing alongside them through the influence of the World Flower. She occasionally makes cracks about herself being an "old hag".
  • The Tease: She makes quite a few passing comments towards the Commander as a Vice-Leader, such as asking if they want to see them in one of their many uniforms, or if they want to fake an accident by pushing her over.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Taking hits in combat makes her let out a ya~dah in a less concerned tone, which is punctuated by the text, from the voiceline section of her profile, including a heart at the end.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: One may think she's Nun Too Holy with her appearance and mannerisms, yet she's actually a kind girl with a strong sense of justice, it's just that she isn't good.
  • Innocently Insensitive: She's prone to running her mouth in a manner that can upset or insult others despite genuinely not meaning to, like when remarking how funny a mature girl (Japanese Anemone) could get excited over a game of splitting watermelons — Coleus felt inclined to arrest them there and then for insulting Bergamot Valley's queen before being halted by Gajumaru.
  • Nun Too Holy: Subverted Trope. Water Speedwell appears to be akin to Veronica, a nun with a dark color scheme and suspicious attitude, but she's actually a kind girl who's problematic at convey her intent properly.
  • Sexy Slit Dress: She wears a dress with a slit on both sides.

  • Does Not Like Men: Downplayed. She's not good with getting close or talking to men, but she's quick to clarify that doesn't mean she hates them. This behavior seems to have passed on through her mother, who's a straight example of this trope with them repeatedly calling men "dirty" in their angry rants.
  • Neat Freak: While she claims to not be a germaphobe, she does calls herself a clean freak with her behavior, being very effective at cleaning that prior dirt, grime and dust is left unseen, all at a paced described as if a gust of wind had just passed.
