A series like Super Robot Wars is pretty much made to appeal to fans of the Humongous Mecha genre. As such, the mere inclusion of a fan's favorite show since they were a kid is enough to cause rejoicing.
Licensed-SRW
- Second Super Robot Wars Z: Hakai-hen. The cast list was so beautiful it was first dismissed as a joke. When it was confirmed, there was much rejoicing.
- To put this into perspective, the hype regarding Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was eclipsed by the other debuting series: Dai-Guard, Shin Mazinger, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, and Armored Trooper VOTOMS, the latter being one of the most wanted series in the past fifteen years. Then there's the fact the TV New Mobile Report Gundam Wing, Godmars, Macross Frontier, both Dancougars and Getter Robo Armageddon returning to the franchise, as well as almost every series from the previous game (with only two exceptions). The only quirky entry this time was Invincible Robo Trider G7, which got some praise after Banpresto showed a completely unrelated cross series Combination Attack between G7 and Zambot 3 (such attacks have been wished for a while). Naturally, this cast listing was given the Fan Nickname "The Best Thing Ever".
- Think that's it? Hakai-hen sequel Saisei-hen adds in New Gigantor (or rather, New Tetsujin 28), season two of Gundam 00, Macross Dynamite 7 (the last time we saw Macross 7 was in Super Robot Wars Alpha 3), Macross Frontier: The Wings of Goodbye, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Lagann-hen, making the series list surpass over fourty.
- Additionally, some players were very happy about what characters are apparently playable: Shako, Kallen Kozuki in her Playboy Bunny outfit and most of all, Boss Borot. IT'S THE AGE OF FATSO!
- Seeing Heroman in Super Robot Wars UX was a pleasant surprise for fans of the show after it pretty much came and went in Japan.
- Aura Battler Dunbine and Ninja Senshi Tobikage returning after being absent since Super Robot Wars Impact was another positive.
- Speaking of Dunbine, The Wings of Rean finally makes its SRW debut after showing up in three installments of the Another Century's Episode franchise before.
- The inclusion of Demonbane, for two reasons: not only is it a long awaited series, but it also debunks the fan theory that Banpresto won't ever include Humongous Mecha adaptations from Eroge. In other words, there's a likely chance any Visual Novel with mecha *cough* Muv-Luv Alternative *cough* can be in an SRW.
- Note that while Banpresto primarily used the Animated Adaptation of Demonbane, UX does have a few bits from the original source.
- Linebarrels of Iron made its debut in Super Robot Wars L, but UX forgoes its Animated Adaptation in favor of the manga, considered by most to be better.
- Hatsune Miku in Super Robot Wars (leeks included)
- Aura Battler Dunbine and Ninja Senshi Tobikage returning after being absent since Super Robot Wars Impact was another positive.
- Super Robot Wars OE had fans cheering: the Eldoran Trilogy, the return of the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Blue Comet SPT Layzner, VOTOMs and the debut of Patlabor, another series fans have been asking for years.
- Third Super Robot Wars Z: Jigoku-hen got this due to having Rebuild of Evangelion, Gurren Lagann and GUNBUSTER in the same game. If there was another "Holy Trinity" for Humongous Mecha out there, it would be these three series courtesy of Studio Gainax.
- The trailer also showed some fan-favorites making it back into SRW, such as Full Metal Panic!, meaning The Stoic duo of Heero Yuy and Sōsuke Sagara will likely return (their last outing was in Super Robot Wars W). Also, the end of the trailer shows the Super Galaxy Gurren-Lagann, an indication Jigoku-hen won't stop the plot of Gurren Lagann early this time, unlike Saisei-hen.
- The release of the second trailer reveals the eponymous Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. As expected, fans are excited, since the unit will be a full-fledged one, rather than like the Arc Gurren Lagann in Saisei-hen where it's only available in an attack. Either Banpresto is rectifying this or something else the size of a galaxy (aside from the Anti-Spiral's Evil Counterpart of the titular unit) is dangerous enough to have the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as a playable unit.
- A minor one but fans were pretty happy that Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz was not going to be using the theme song "Last Impression" but instead uses "White Reflection", something fans have been wanting for years.
- One word: DIEBUSTER. Nearly all SRW players have been expecting it to make its debut in the Third Super Robot Wars Z: Tengoku-hen with its sister series Gunbuster.
- The whole Full Metal Panic! fandom exploded in joy when they saw ARX-8 Laevatein in action, despite the fact that it has not been animated yet. It was more than enough to fill up the sadness from the absence of the long-awaited fourth season.
- Well, Super Robot Wars BX has just been annouced as the next Nintendo 3DS Super Robot Wars game, and it'll probably be nothing special. Sure, it has both Shin Mazinger Z and Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, but their both kinda expected by this poin-it'll also debut the Cult shows Panzer World Galient and Giant Gorg? Okay, that's kinda coo-GaoGaiGar and Martian Successor Nadesico are finally gonna return to a mainline SRW game?! Raijin-Oh is making it's 2D SRW debut?! Man, how could this get any bette-KNIGHT GUNDAM?!
- In Super Robot Wars V, not only are we getting the debuts of Cross Angenote , The Brave Express Might Gainenote , Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash and Shin Mazinger Zeronote , we also have the return of Full Metal Panic!, Getter Robo Armaggeddon, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness and Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam, which hasn't been seen since Super Robot Wars Alpha 2 in 13 years AND will be joined alongside its sequels "Skull Heart" and "The Steel Seven". But that's nothing compared to the big one: SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO 2199, AN ACTUAL SPACE OPERA SERIES!! Can we get a "HELL YES!"?
- And speaking of Crossbone Gundam, we finally get to see the F91 in glorious HD.
- We've got ourselves a new trailer, and it looks like the Shin Mazinger version of Tetsuya Tsurugi is joining the party. Oh, and he brought that Mazin Emperor G toy that was announced a while back. That's nice-wait...waaaait a minute, is that THE HUCKEBEIN?!
- And not only the Huckebein, but the Grungust is back too!
- Like what Bandai Namco Entertainment is doing for The Moon Dwellers (see below), V will be released officially in English alongside Chinese and Korean languages for Asia. Yes, that's right: an honest-to-God licensed non-Original Generation Super Robot Wars installment IN ENGLISH.
- Not only that, but said English version will release on the same day as the original version of the game, meaning fans that want to understand what's going on won't have to wait!
- A relatively minor one, but this game will be the first licensed game in a long time to have a diagonal map with full body sprites, as apposed to the "flat map with head sprites" style that had been constantly used since the Z2 Duology.note
- Another trailer has been released. While it doesn't show much, it does give us a good look at some new units such as the Penelope, Crossbone Gundam X-1 Kai Kai "Skull Heart" Full Cloth, Villkiss' Ariel and Michael Modes, Salamandinay and her Enryugo, Goryu, Berserk Asuka and Beast Mode Eva Unit-02, and perhaps the most surprising of all; Yurika Misumaru, out of the Boson Jump Control Ruins and into her Nergal outfit, seemingly captaining a ship again.
- We also get a chance to listen to some of the game's soundtrack. While most of it sounds reused from both the Z trilogy and Gundam Extreme VS, we do get to hear new arrangements of Black Selena III, Kindan no Resistance, and Arashi no Hero.
- Getter Robo fans were particularly cheering when it was revealed that Yuusuo would be one of the songs featured in the game, after it's questionable absence in all of the other past games featuring Armageddon up to this point.
- From a main character point of view, Chitose Kisaragi's existence meant that fans could choose a female protagonist again. The last time players had a female protagonist was Setsuko in Z and that was in 2008.
- Okay, so X-Omega is a bit of a departure from the main series, being a mobile-based spinoff (also, Kantam Robo?). But we finally get to see Gai Shishioh and Domon Kasshu fighting together, along with others like Celestial Being, Mithril, and newcomers like Zegapain, Kiryu, Star Driver, and-wait, Kiryu?! But doesn't that mean... SKREEEEEEEEEOOOOOOONNK!!!
- And with the King of the Monsters showing up, it's gonna take the power of two Mechagodzillas to put him down. But why is the second one purple...and is that Shinji Ikari at the controls?!
- Man, it would be so cool if Sakura Wars would appear in a Super Robot Wars game, but Ouji Hiroi won't allow any of his series to be even touched by the franchise due to his hatred of it. And even though X-Omega has had a bunch of "Limited-Time Events" filled with surprising inclusions, it's doubtful that they'll also annouce one for SRW like they did just now...wait, WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?
- Man, there's over 40 Super Sentai series to date, and not a single one has been included. I guess just because it's live-action means that we'll never see them include one, like they just di-WAIT, WHAT?!?!?
- To make it even better it's not JUST any of the Robots from the series. It's DaiZyuJin, THE ORIGINAL Megazord!
- Just when the series roster got filled up and it seemed like they were done with the game, the developers revealed that more series would be included in the lineup, including Daimos, Gasaraki, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space, ∀ Gundam, Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid and surprisingly Getter Robo Armageddon, despite the fact that the game already has it's own Getter Robo interpretation.
- The fan-favorite "Sword that Smites Evil", Sanger Zovolt, is going to be in the game.
- How's this for an unorthodox series; THE SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT, MEGA MAN.
- Or how about A Certain Magical Virtual-ON? A returning series and a surprising crossover all in one!
- The 6/28/2018 livestream dropped a number of bombshells, including both the Black Sizzler and titular Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann being added into the gacha, Shin Mazinger Zero vs Great General of Darkness being added into the series roster, and the debut of Gundam Build Fighters.
- After all this time, X-Omega is finally going to feature SD Gundam works!
- And we're starting off with Musha Gundam, the one who truly started it all!
- Command Gundam will be joining the fray too! LET'S ROCK!
- We've also got Yondaime Daishogun from SD Sengokuden Tenka Toitsu Hen coming along for the ride as well!
- We've also got Holy Machine Soldier Gunrex joining the fight!
- And finally, Superior Dragon shall swoop down to scourge the battlefield!
- Space Sheriff Gavan is going to be in the game! Not as a limited-time event, but as part of the permanent cast!
- After all this time, after years of wishing, Muv-Luv Alternative FINALLY MAKES AN APPEARANCE IN A SUPER ROBOT WARS GAME!!! Also, the Eldoran Series makes it's X-Omega debut at last with Nekketsu Saikyo Gosaurer!
- The game gave us a pleasant surprise by bringing back The Vision of Escaflowne, which hadn't been seen in a Super Robot Wars game since it's debut in Compact 3 sixteen years ago!
- And now we have a second Super Sentai series added! And it's another fan-favorite too! GOOOOOO-KAI-GER!
- Super Robot Wars X was annouced only three months from it's release, and with that it was immediately announced that it would be localized into English. Along with a number of series returning from V, this game features the HD console debut of veteran series' Aura Battler Dunbine and Gundam F91, as well as the return of Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. As for new series, it'll feature Gundam: Reconguista in G, Mashin Hero Wataru, and even Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water of all things. But all of that means nothing compared to the big bombshell: THE GLORIOUS RETURN OF THE MAZINKAISER AND THE FREAKING HI-NU GUNDAM!
- Then there's the bigger one: Masaki and the Cybuster are in! Which means we once again get to see Cybuster and Dunbine in the same SRW game like how things were in the Classic and Alpha days. note
- At the end of 2018, B.B. Studio dropped some whammy announcements in regards to the newest entry, Super Robot Wars T (Terra). First being that it was announced for both PS4 and Nintendo Switch, making this the first true Nintendo console SRW since NEO. And then came the roster...
- The first console appearance of GUN×SWORD! After being only featured in the SRW with the most reviled protagonist, we can play as Van and Dann of Thursday with leisure again, in HD with voices! All right B.B. Studio, for the next ones, bring us all the condiments you have!
- Both Mobile Fighter G Gundam (They're back after years of hiatus from proper SRW, and not just Filler like in NEO or OE!) and GaoGaiGar, two series considered to be one of the most Hot-Blooded shows to ever grace SRW, in one proper SRW Game! To add it up, there's also another top Hot-Blooded anime, Gunbuster! And another Brave Series, The Brave Express Might Gaine! All in one game! The Hot-Blooded level of this SRW is over nine thousand!! (Of course, this is while discounting both Getter and Mazinger being in the same game)
- All right, now comes the debut series. Expelled from Paradise? Well, that's an OK addition, I gue— WHAT!? Is that Cowboy Bebop!? B-but how!? It's not a mecha anime—WHO CARES, COWBOY BEBOP IN MY SRW! MY CHILDHOOD! 'Bout time we blow this scene, get everybody and the stuff together! OK, 3, 2, 1, LET'S JAM!
- H-hold up, what's that in the next one? That skull battleship... is that Captain Harlock!? Oh yeah, looks like we will have the most GAR of ship captains from one of the most classic anime and Space Opera ever!
- Awesome roster, B.B Studio! This is already a roster of dreams—what, there's more? Oh, come now, what else could blow our minds more? Pretty sure there's no way you can top this—Magic Knight Rayearth!? The one most requested for so long, and a Magical Girl!? And part of our childhood too, like Bebop!? Thank you, B.B. Studio and CLAMP! Thank you for finally letting Hikaru, Umi and Fuu join in the Hot-Blooded Crossover shenanigans of Super Robot Wars after so long! Our unyielding wish have been fulfilled!
- Oh, and by the way, the game is once again confirmed right out the gate for a same-year English release in SE Asia (with a nearly-unveiled admission that these releases, and the advent of the "international era", are aimed at the entire global market), with open discussion of how successful V and X were driving the decision to localize Terra so quickly.
- The roster really does need to be highlighted; while the English option for V helped SRW sell overseas for the first time in ages, and while X caught some excitement for the quality of its localization, Terra is the first "international era" SRW to really capture hearts and imaginations at its mere announcement thanks to the 1-2-3 combo of including Harlock, Bebop and Rayearth, all of which are deeply beloved and have very devoted fanbases outside of Japan, never mind G Gundam and GaoGaiGar also returning and having ardent fans. A lot of these choices even feel aimed more at attracting international players than Japanese ones.
- The second trailer reveals one surprise entry. Hey, did you happen to play that old Getter Robo game Getter Robo Daikessen!? Well, you're in for a treat! The Shin Getter Dragon that appeared there will be playable as well! So basically, we're having both Armageddon and Daikessen! Looks like B.B Studio just Can't Stop making this kind of reaction!
- A week before the game is released, there is a short commercial... which confirms two things: Yurika Misumaru is back! And it looks like she'll have a combo with Ruri Hoshino! But what follows afterwards is the confirmation of the grand return of Master Asia!!. LOOK, THE EAST IS BURNING RED!!!
- Got the Switch version of the game in English? Well Bamco has a bonus for you for buying that version: due to a lack of a Southeast Asia version of the Nintendo eShop, you get the day one bonus preorder content FOR FREE, and it doesn't have a time limit to when you get it! And how you ask? It's a day one update patch when you update the game before starting it. Now you can enjoy the bonus preorder content if you only have that version bought! Thanks Bandai Namco, for thinking about the Switch users that bought that version!
- By the end of this all, I think we can all quote Van: "DAMN, THAT'S GOOD!!"
- Man, what a wild, satisfying ride it has been. Guess all we have to do now is either replay the game or wait till a new mainline SRW comes... Hm? What is this announcement—WHAT!? AN EXPANSION PACK DLC!? WITH 20 SCENARIOS AND THE RETURN OF SOME OLD FACES!?!? Let the wild ride continue!!
- Alright, let's see what Super Robot Wars DD's gonna bring in for the World 6 Update. Future Robot Daltanious and Jushin Liger are coming back? Cool, they already returned back in X-Ω, but its still nice to see them again after so long. Mashin Hero Wataru is back too? That's neat, but not really that surprising anymo-wait...WAAAAAAAAIT A FUCKING MINUTE, IS THAT GRANZORT?! MADOU KING GRANZORT IS MAKING ITS SUPER ROBOT WARS DEBUT AT LONG LAST?! THAT'S ANOTHER SERIES MOST ASSUMED WOULD NEVER MAKE IT IN DUE TO LEGAL ISSUES! FUCK YES!!!
- Now which mechs did they add for the May 2021 Update? Hm, Shin Getter-2, Shin Getter-3, and Getter Noir Unit-3? That's cool. Now who's the raid boss-MECHA GILGILGAN!!! HE'S BACK! AND THEY REUSED HIS SUPER ROBOT WARS ALPHA DESIGN!!!
- Whoa what?! The Zenkaigers are going to make a special guest appearance in this game?! AND PAC-MAN?! THEY INVITED PAC-MAN?! THAT CHERRY-CHASING DOT MUNCHER ISN'T EVEN PART OF ANY GIANT MECHA WORKS!
- "ISAMI~! I'M JOINING SUPER ROBOT WARS! ISAMI~!"
- Wow, what's a Super Robot Wars announcement doing in my E3!? Huh, it's re-using the old engine and there was no new series yet, but woah, that Choudenji Yo-Yo look sick in HD! Welcome back, Combattler V! And is that Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection returning from its debut in X-Ω? And GaoFighGar!? Does this mean we're finally getting the Goldion Crusher in glorious HD!?note Man, July 11th can't come soon enough, we're only getting bits of it, but it got us hyped! But maybe they won't translate it ag—SAY NO MORE!!
- Well, the official trailer for 30 has finally dropped. Let's see what we've got...Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative and Majestic Prince are also returning from their debuts in X-Ω?! Magic Knight Rayearth, GUN×SWORD and the Getter Robo Daikessen!! version of Shin Getter Dragon are returning from T?! And they brought back the missing signature hat jingle animation Van lacked in T?! Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Mobile Suit Victory Gundam and the Z-MSV mechs are coming back?! Mazinger Z: Infinity is going to be joined by the Infinitism version of Mazinkaiser?! GaoGaiGar FINAL will be joined by the adult versions of Mamoru and Ikumi piloting GaoGaiGo from King of Kings: GaoGaiGar vs. Betterman?! Knight's & Magic, Brave Police J-Decker and SSSS.GRIDMAN are going to debut?! There's going to be a free-range map instead of the stages having linear progression?! The game will have an Auto-Battle mode to make maps go faster?! The main protagonists will pilot a customized Huckebein?! Tomokazu Sugita is voicing the male protagonist with Yūichi Nakamura as the rival?! Instead of instrumental themes the protagonists are getting Image Songs, with the male protagonist's song being sung by Masaaki Endoh?! The SRX will be the Guest Original Generation mech for this game?! Amuro will pilot the original RX-78-2 Gundam again?! We're in for a wild ride, boys and girls!
- Even better, after the trailer in the livestream where it was announced, the developers confirmed that there'll be special pre-order Bonus Missions, two of which will each give you SRX and Cybuster. What's more, the game will have two DLC Packs after release, with each bringing nine new mechs...including two Original Generation mechs in each pack, bringing a total of six Guest Original Generation mechs!
- The second PV might be a little underwhelming as it introduced few new things, though the new battleship Dreistreiger looks sick and the Bridge Bunnies team at least looked neat (and the captain is voiced by fan favorite Saori Hayami too!). But again, quite underwhelming... What is that Gekkouei doing with legs!? The unreleased complete version of Gekkou, you say!? ALL HAIL BANDAI NAMCO AND EMPEROR LELOUCH, GEASS FANS GET A NEW ORIGINAL STUFF!!
- Great! We can finally pre-order the game. Shucks the game's not on the USA Steam pag-wait, it is!? How did they pull that off!? Whatever, pre-ordering!!!
- DLC, huh. I guess not even SRW can resist that. Why did they make Hi-Nu Gundam a DLC when it could've... WOAH! Voltes V gets a sick HD upgrade like its fellow Choudenji bro! — Oh hai, Kusuha and Bullet! Fancy meeting you here with your trusty RyuKoOh/KoRyuOh!. Even for DLC, it's actually getting good—Sakura Wars!? As in, the original groups of Imperial Combat Revue pre-timeskip, featuring Sakura, Erica and Gemini, along with Ichiro Ogami and Shinjiro Taiga!? Imagine that, Sakura Wars in a traditional SRW, even if it's just DLC!! Oh yeah, now there's no more reason they're locked out of continuity because of some mumbo jumbo of the creator getting too defensive!
- OK, DLC 2 is announced. Iron Blooded Orphans is finally in a mainline game?! Wait, Kyosuke?! But that must mean... Excellen is back?!? And the final series... Ultraman... WHAT THE HELL?!? They included both Tsuburaya's flagship tokusatsu?! What next? Super Sentai?!?
- OK, The Dreistreiger can't transform so we're not get..ti..ng... They just announced Gilliam Yeager with the Super Robot Wars 4 version of the Black Gespenst?! So, How much is it... FREE?!? And they also announced a new stage with a completely new JAM Project song, also free?! Bandai Namco, you've outdone yourself already, you don't need to keep doing this...
- OK, Super Robot Wars 30 and DD Livestream. The Huckenbein 30 is coming to DD, but that's exclusive to Japan, we'll likely never see it. So what are we getting in ret... u... 'The Didarion... We're getting the DD protagonist in 30, for free, meaning, the exchange is that his mainline debut is right now. What next for the free robots? The Van Ein?! Nashim Gan Eden?!?
- OK, They just announced a 10 minute presentation, after total radio silence... OK, Look, it's a young Irm in his Gespenst... I was kidding about the Van Ein!, you didn't have to do it! And finally, more story content?! And Cybaster and SRX for everyone ALL FOR FREE?!? What about the last two DLC... Make that one DLC pack, with the infamous Sanger/Ratsel combo as default, and brand new version of Scopedog and Dancouga, not seen anywhere before. So what if it's the finale? What a finale!
Super Robot Wars: Original Generation
- When Original Generation Gaiden was announced, many players weren't pleased they'll be seeing essentially an extended rehash of the bonus section from the previous "2.5" scenario of Original Generations. The suspense was even ruined regarding Fiona Gureden being killed in the previous installment, no thanks to one trailer. Just as the game neared its release date — wait a minute: the Cry Wolves of Super Robot Wars MX!?
- Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier seemed like a poor excuse of having Expy upon Expy of existing SRW originals being placed in an Eastern RPG setting. Once information about new character Aschen Blodel being a W-Series Artificial Human was revealed, alongside being created from the main series' continuity, fans were starting to be receptive of this Spin-Off (especially since this makes Endless Frontier canon to the main installments). When Reiji Arisu, Xiaomu and KOS-MOS rounded out the last of the playable cast, that was enough for fans to consider this worth looking into, since this means Namco × Capcom and Xenosaga are effectively part of the Banpresto multiverse.
- Likewise, the Endless Frontier EXCEED sequel didn't seem to attract much hype, as the only new characters are Aledy Naash and Neige Hausen (the former being yet another blatant Expy of an SRW protagonist). Once Axel, Alfimi and Fighter Roar were seen in the trailers.....yeah (despite Roar being a support character than a fully playable one).
- One of the follow-up EXCEED trailers showcased the antagonists and the Big Bad, the latter who beared a resemblance to Wodan Ymir. Even better, the same trailer highlighted that bosses from the previous game will join the party as part of the support line-up. Hell, even Saya gets a friggin' Combination Attack with Reiji and Xiaomu!
- Much of the hype surrounding the Second Original Generation was the result of Unexpected Characters, to wit the rest of the Masou Kishin cast (sans Masaki Andoh, Shu Shirakawa and Lune Zoldark) finally make their appearance in main continuity via the events of Super Robot Wars EX, after an eleven-year absence from consoles since Alpha Gaiden. Bonus rejoicing when fans discovered the Masou Kishin units can gain their final attacks as an unlockable treat, despite violating canon, which adds to the unexpectedness.
- Furthermore, the trailers for the game made it clear the antagonists are the Gaia Sabers, Garden of Baral, Ruina and the MX villains.
- It was a long wait, but we finally get to play as Shu in his story from EX in the Dark Prison Downloadable Content.
- Wait a second: is that Selena Recital?!
- A follow-up trailer reveals more attacks for Shu's Granzon, culminating with the Neo Granzon. Of course, as per his story from EX, this is mandatory, but to include the same code input that unlocks the Neo Granzon RIGHT OFF THE BAT IN A SECOND PLAYTHROUGH? YES.
- When Masou Kishin: Coffin of the End was announced, the hype for the Masou Kishin series was already dying (and likely the reason why this installment is being billed as the Grand Finale). Cue the first magazine scans and the teaser trailer showing Shu being The Captain of a new battleship, a trashed Neo Granzon, Tytti Noorbuck using a mass-produced Regelior-AR instead of her Elemental Lord Gaddeath and Amara Balshem, who wasn't Killed Off for Real and winds up in La Gias. All of a sudden, players who aren't necessarily Masou Kishin-centric are excited for this installment.
- 2016 begins with an announcement for sequel The Moon Dwellers and...oh, hi, Touya! It's about time you, Katia, Melua and the Granteed join the gang! Now players can have that dream match between Sanger Zonvolt and Al-Van Lunks! Don't worry, Calvina and Festenia fans: they're also in, bringing along with them the Bellzelute. Further compounding the new arrivals are both versions of Akimi Akatsuki.
- The one announcement that every SRW fan has been frothing at the mouths for with glorious Squee: the game will be localized and released IN ENGLISH....for the Southeast Asia regionnote and only for the Sony PlayStation 4 platform. Sounds like a problem? Hardly, because the console has no regional restrictions, making this one of the best bits of news coming out from Bandai Namco Entertainment at the start of the year.
- That's not all. Remember when some fans were disappointed that Haken Browning did not appear in Project X Zone 2: Brave New World? Well now we know why: He and Aschen Brodel are joining the party, with a Humongous Mecha-sized version of the Gespenst Phantom wielding a giant version of Haken's Swiss-Army Gun! Not only that, The Moon Dwellers will have an audio drama detailing how Haken and Aschen will enter Original Generation, giving an In-Universe justification why he and Sanger are absent in Brave New World.
- It may have been brief, but the Mid Season Upgrades to the Judgment Humongous Mecha in the second promotional trailer are seen in action.
