openRon The Death Eater Cleanup
For RonTheDeathEater. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, there are many examples commented out since it's was decided that since it's about vilification in fan works, they need to list specific works where said vilification happens to prove it's notable enough to count and since Examples Are Not General.
Someone un-commnted them out apparently unaware of that, I PMd them over this Is it even worth keeping them if no-one can apparently find examples even after years to list. Or should I just add a disclaimer stating all entries need an example?
openAnAdventurerIsYou on Work pages.
How should the An Adventurer Is You trope be noted on Work pages? I ask because the following entry is from the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar page (talking about one of its Gaiden Games) and ,quite apart from the Zero-Context Example problem, it does take up a lot of space (which is why I put it in a folder) due to the fact that the game has expanded to include a many of the Hero characters from its parent game over time.
- An Adventurer Is You: The heroes in Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower qualify:
- Knight-Questor: Tank - A dedicated brick wall who can pull enemies closer and keep them there indefinitely.
- Knight-Venator: Archer/Blademaster - Fast, agile and equipped with heavy armour. He can shoot even in melee and his arrows are accurate and powerful.
- Lord-Celestant: Scrapper/Archer
- Lord-Relictor: Nuker/Healer
- Lord-Castellant: Jack - Can do everything from fighting in melee, dealing some ranged damage, stunning and healing. There are lots of heroes who can do each of these individual tasks better, but few who can turn their hand to so many.
- Knight-Azyros: Nuker/Buffer
- Knight-Heraldor: Buffer
- Knight-Vexillor: Buffer/Debuffer
- Battlemage: Archer/Buffer
- Excelsior Warpriest: Healer/Beastmaster - He is capable of healing and smashing heads alike, and is also accompanied by a Gryph-hound companion.
- Loremaster: Nuker/Scrapper/Buffer
- Mistweaver Saih: Debuffer/Nuker - Focuses on throwing magic missiles, stunning and annoying the hell out of enemies.
- Sorceress: Nuker - All about blasting enemies to smithereens with magic missiles, which can be further fuelled if necessary by sacrificing wounds.
- Black Ark Fleetmaster: Scrapper
- Assassin: Archer/Backstabber
- Tenebrael Shard: Scrapper - An assasin that can jump from shadow to shadow and has supernatural skills for assasination.
- Nomad Prince: Archer
- Warden King - Tank
- Runelord - Nuker/Buffer/Debuffer
- Unforged - Blademaster/Scrapper
- Fyreslayer Doomseeker: Blademaster - He wants to get stuck in and gets better if enemies are hitting him and when he's killing stuff.
- Auric Runemaster: Buffer/Nuker - A support hero with mediocre weapons but useful defense buffs and splash damage attacks.
- Grimwrath Berzerker: Scrapper/Regenerator
- Battlesmith: Buffer/Scrapper
- Cogsmith: Archer
- Saurus Oldblood: Tank/Blademaster
- Skink Starpriest: Nuker/Debuffer
- Darkoath Chieftain: Scrapper
- Lord of Chaos: Tank/Blademaster
- Chaos Sorcerer Lord: Nuker/Buffer
- Slaughterpriest: Scrapper/Healer - A beatstick who can heal himself and his friends by chopping up enemies and who can make enemies' blood boil.
- Exalted Deathbringer (with Impaling Spear): Scrapper
- Exalted Deathbringer (with Ruinous Axe): Blademaster/Scrapper
- Aspiring Deathbringer: Blademaster
- Bloodstoker: Buffer - He is able to whip allies to fury but otherwise has very mediocre attacks.
- Skullgrinder: Scrapper
- Bloodsecrator: Nuker/Buffer
- Lord of Plagues: Regenerator/Blademaster - A meatshield who can keep himself in the fight for a long time and his attacks have some nasty side effects.
- Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord: Nuker/Mezzer - He has a powerful missile weapon that can cause splash damage and since he also serves Tzeentch he can control enemies to an extent.
- Skaven Warlord: Backstabber/Scrapper
- Grey Seer: Nuker
- Great Bray-Shaman: Debuffer/Buffer/Mezzer - Capable of buffing allies, as well as stunning and controlling enemies to some degree but has very weak damage by himself.
- Necromancer: The Minion Master - His main gimmick is to overwhelm enemies with hordes of weak skeletons.
- Wight King: Regenerator/Blademaster
- Orruk Weirdnob Shaman - Nuker
- Orruk Warchanter - Scrapper
- Savage Orruk Warboss - Tank/Blademaster
- Grot Shaman - Buffer/Debuffer
openBalanceBuff description seems too narrow Videogame
The trope description seems overly narrow, and I get the feeling that was to prevent long lists stemming from that single trope the follow up also seems plain wrong, suggesting patches be put on the trivia page under "What Could Have Been" seems like a misuse of WCHB as well. I don't just want to go and change it in case it throws something off, but I do think it needs to be changed, after all some games make huge changes through patch buffs, like the one I'm thinking of, that are tropes. I'm also not sure if it fits the criteria the Trope Repair Shop either.
openLive-action show (movie?) about a guy who wants a ring's power to become king?
All I can remember is there's this man and he keeps singing this rhyme "Ringy-ring-ring, ringy-ring-ring, give me the power you bringy-bring bring and I will be kingy-king-king. It reminds me of The Lord of the Rings with all this talk of a powerful ring, but I don't remember anyone from that wanting to be king via the One Ring except possibly Boromir and I doubt he said a rhyme.
openDoes Gacha Game warrants a new page?
Or it should stay within Allegedly Free Game? If it warrants a new page, I am thinking to take it to the Trope Launch Pad in order to iron things out.
openam i using the cutlist right
I tried to submit a completely blank article (The25th Ward) to the cutlist, but as far as i can tell, nothing happened.
openShould we add more to Administrivia.HowIndexingWorks about the Indexing page type?
Should we add more to Administrivia. How Indexing Works about the Indexing page type?
It doesn't seem clear on whether it's talking about indexes made using the [[index]] markup, or some other kind?
openLukeIAmYourFather reveals
Jack is Jill's father and they know this. Bob is Jill's ally and doesn't know Jack and Jill are related. Bob discovering that fact is not this trope, right?
openOn properly marking zero context examples
When an example is deemed to be a Zero-Context Example, I know we're supposed to comment out the example, but should the text after the trope name be deleted as well?
Asking in a question of a trope use in this page.
openRudeness on Destiny 2
Can someone tell Ano Baka Desu to cool it with aggressively telling people to edit a certain way on Destiny 2? Among other things, "And why do you think that's a necessary folder exclusive from the A to Z folder? Removing, and you'd better not edit war over it", which kind of smells of Backseat Modding.
Edited by Arsenal_GearopenAesop Use?
Aesop. My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic
- A Canterlot Wedding:
- Always trust your instincts.
- When you have an incredible statement to make, make sure you have enough evidence to back you up. On the flip side, just because something sounds outrageous doesn't mean there isn't a little bit of truth behind it.
- "A Canterlot Wedding" has the message that even if you're right, you should have a good deal of tact in making your point.
- And on the flip end of the coin, it also gives the moral that just because a claim seems outrageous and arbitrary on the surface, it doesn't automatically mean that there isn't some level of truth behind it.
The trust your instincts one is the Aesop that's stated in-work, the other is inferred, so is that Alternate Aesop Interpretation instead and should be moved there? Can Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped overlap with Alternate Aesop Interpretation since it's not trying to drop that anvil?
I asked Is this an example? but haven't heard back.
openTroper Needs Some Help
Meta184 seems to have trouble making potholes occasionally, and has some run-on sentence troubles too. Like, eesh.
openIs there a "find and replace all" function?
For example, say I want to update a word or name to the official English one (this happens a lot in anime/manga). As it is now, I have to find every single instance of the incorrect word being used, and change it to the official one manually.
Is there a feature that would allow me to find all instances of the word on a page, and replace all of them with the official one automatically? To extend this even further, is it possible to find all instances of the incorrect word being used across the whole site, and allow me to replace them all in one action?
Many fan wikis have the former as a function (not sure about the latter), so I was just wondering if it's possible here too.
openAre duplicate character images okay in this situation?
So, we've been building up a work page for Tropers: The Series, a Play-by-Post Game on this site's Forum Games, and we have many subpages including a Characters page.
Although most of the characters in TTS are original characters, we have had pre-existing characters from other works appear in it a few times, and some of them are listed on the Characters page. What I'm wondering is, what do we do if we want to add images to their entries? Can we just copy their images on their own Characters pages, or should we find different pictures of the characters?
openPotholes Within Spoilers?
I found a broken spoiler on Watch_Dogs 2 that I just cannot fix because I'm not sure how to make spoiler tags and potholes work together.
It's in Wrench's folder.
openCan you list fan-games under "canon" videogame pages? Videogame
Oo boy. Long story short: There was once an MMO, and when it shut down, the creator made it open-source to allow fans to create their own spin-offsnote read: fan-games of the original. And there are tons, and tons of spin-offs based on it.
I want to put them in a list on the main page or create some sort of series index, but not sure where or how to.
Is it okay to list them (either as subfolders or bullet points) on the same page as the original? Or must they remain as their own separate pages without links?
Edited by INeveropenDoes the Scrappy need a waiting period?
Base-Breaking Character requires a 6 month wait to see how the audience perceives the divisiveness of a character. So does that apply to The Scrappy as well?
openEditWar Live Action TV
The troper buihuuduyet has re-added an example to the Ymmv page of https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=YMMV.GameOfThronesS8E5TheBells&more=t For Internet Backdraft that he added but got deleted. Even ignoring that the whole defending a character torching a populated area is just odd. There's no way that should be in Internet Backdraft as I have not found anyone defending this on the internet. They'll agree it was badly written but way out of line.
openHelp with a redirect
I need to know how to take the existing Radar/ProWrestling page so that it redirects to Radar/ProfessionalWrestling instead of the other way around. What is the best way to do this? Thank you.

Their edit history on Kamen Rider/Love Live/Dota 2/Fate/Grand Order matches up with their past banned accounts' edit histories and their grammar is similarly riddled with errors.
