The first sentence, too, and the one sentence fragment of "evil, right?"

There are also some minor typos that should be fixed.

Into the Woods and subpages seem to have sections that read as nattery or just overly analytical, though I don't know enough about Sondheim to judge.

[down] Well that's implicitly what I'm doing posting here.

Voltes V has this:

  • Banned in the Philippines: One of the more infamous examples in anime circles, and one that may well have led to its immortalization in the Philippines. The first time the show was broadcast there in the very late 1970s, President Ferdinand Marcos' government ordered the show taken off the air with four episodes to go, with the official reason for the removal being cited as concern from local Catholic parents' groups over the show's "brutal violence". These would be the four episodes, for the record, that capped off with the overthrow of a dictatorship.
    • Mazinger Z and Daimos were also affected, cutting off the airing of their finales. Urban legend, and a lot of genuine suspicion, holds that the ban was just as much a response to the show's focus on Boazan's totalitarianism, as the country was then under its own totalitarian dictatorship ever since Marcos declared martial law in 1972.
    • This isn't helped by the fact that the show was cut off a mere four episodes before the conclusion, where the Boazan Emperor is overthrown; thus deeming the concerns of Moral Guardians as convenience for the government to hide the real reason.
    • Many of those who protested against the regime a few years later in 1986, leading to its overthrow (in the wake of the assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr.), adopted Voltes V as a Movement Mascot and so the show became a symbol of resistance against the Marcos regime, as this art installation memorializes. The show proved popular enough to return years later.
    • The 1999 revival is notable for being hyped to death and back as the show's "second coming", complete with a movie compilation of the last four episodes... though it and Daimos had returned in the early 1990s after Marcos was gone.
    • Two decades later, a local live-action series is currently under production by GMA Network with the supervision from Toei.

When posting examples it would help to mention what particular issues you have with the entries and why. As it stands I don't notice anything obviously nattery. Together the entries seem long but informatively on-topic.

The reason I think it's natter is because it goes offtopic and discusses the impact it had on the Philippines, which isn't exactly on topic with the banning especially in the lower bullets.

All subbullets could be cut and replaced with a note that it isn't banned anymore (since when). subbullet 3 may be merged with Movement Mascot at YMMV.Voltes V.

From The Wizard of Oz under Alternative Character Interpretation.

  • There's a strong argument to be made that Dorothy is an entitled little brat, and to some extent so are all of her companions. First, they walk right into the Emerald City, and demand a personal audience with their Head of State, and act as if they have been wronged when they are denied one (...it's not like sovereign rulers have a lot on their plate or anything...), with the expectation that the Wizard will be willing to solve their personal problems. Also, at the end of the movie, Dorothy flips again, not because she is being denied her chance to go home, but because SHE HAS BEEN TOLD TO WAIT ONE DAY!
    • But it should be noted that Dorothy is a girl dragged into a bizarre and unknown world and a witch hunting for her ass, both being much more than just a "personal problem" thus not only justifying her "brattiness" but also making this interpretation a strong case of Victim Blaming. Besides, it's totally reasonable that she feels wronged when denied an audience, since while the Wizard is probably a busy individual, he could just have told Dorothy and her group that they would be attended at another time, especially considering that he even had the means of doing so! And while it's arguable that Dorothy overreacted after being told to wait more, she had faced before what was probably the most traumatizing moment of her life, so her reasons for complaining are entirely justifiable if not right considering the aforementioned means of taking her back to home (i.e the balloon).

Should we cut the second subbullet, or just the entire example in general?

[up][up]I actually feel the whole thing just needs a rewrite to sound less like complaining because, from what I recall, she's not supposed to come off like that.

It's Alternative Character Interpretation — isn't the intentionality not relevant there? However it does read more like Unintentionally Unsympathetic, but the second bullet makes an argument that she's not really that either, she's just a kid who misses her family. Either way it needs a rewrite.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

[up]For the record, I mentioned that because a part of ACI can involve people interpreting the character differently from how they're intended to come off.

The P4 entry for Small Town Boredom goes kinda off topic and I feel like it could use a trim.

  • Persona 4: Said boredom is such that it drives someone to murder. This was also a key point in Shadow Yosuke and Shadow Yukiko's dialogues. Shadow Yosuke taunts Yosuke about how boring the town is to him, while Yukiko's shadow mentions how much she hates the town and just sits on her ass waiting for her prince to come rescue her from it. Yu (pun intended) can also play this trope straight or avert it depending on dialogue choices given to the player. (They don't appear to have any real effect on the story, and are mostly just there for flavor.) It should be said that the whole town's leisure facilities basically amount to one small diner, the shrine, the river, and if you're really desperate, the food court of the local supermarket. That is literally it.
    • It ultimately turns out that Yukiko doesn't think about Inaba as boring, as she pointedly disagrees with a reporter describing it that way. Her main problem was the belief that she had to stay there and inherit her family's inn, but after getting past that, chose to do so for the sake of her family and all the people who worked for the inn who treated her kindly. As for Yosuke, while he admits that Inaba is boring, he also says that all his friends are there.
    • It also comes up in Eri Minami's Social Link. She, a woman who married an Inaba man who had a son, finds the town somewhat boring, with TV and the Internet as her only forms of entertainment. It doesn't help that she has no friends among the other mothers who come to the daycare center, at least partly due to their looking down on her as an outsider and second mother.
    • Golden dials this back a bit. Both a beach and Okina City are within a short train ride or a couple hours on a scooter from Inaba, giving a few more options. If nothing else, you can go to the movies now.
    • In the fan-made musical of Persona 4, the very first song is 'Small Town Blues' which completely tears down any pretense of fun and excitement. It used to be called 'Everything's Boring In Inaba'.
Inaba our town, where nothing ever happens,
Where a superstore's enough to throw our homes out of whack
Department store JUNES showed up here last December
And proceeded to devour all our economic slack

Any other thoughts?

Proposing a rewrite, though not very confident in myself:

  • Small Town Boredom: Inaba is a small rural town where normally, at least before the murders, nothing of interest happens. This provides initial characterization for several characters.
    • Yosuke Hanamura is a transfer student who comes from a big city. As such, in the beginning he's secretly very frustrated by having nothing exciting to do. Shadow Yosuke amplifies this aspect and mocks him for being a Heroic Wannabe and treating the murders as an excuse to have an adventure. While he still calls Inaba boring, he admits the new friends are worth more than the thrills.
    • Yukiko Amagi is the inheritor of the Amagi Inn, which she's not very fond of, and is expected to soon become its manager. Her boredom manifests in Shadow Yukiko, who accuses her of prefering a self-inflicted Gilded Cage and doing nothing but wait for a "prince" to take her away from Inaba. She eventually chooses to stay at the Inn in gratitude for her family.
    • Bordedom comes up in Eri Minami's Social Link. She has married an Inaba man who had a son and finds the town somewhat boring. TV and the Internet are her only forms of entertainment, and she also has no friends among the other mothers who come to the daycare center.
    • The Heavy's main motive turns out to be the lack of fun. Per his admission, Tohru Adachi only became a police officer to legally walk with a gun, but quickly finds that there's really for him to do in Inaba. The first murder happened accidentally in an Attempted Rape, because Mayumi Yamano rejected his love confession, while Mayumi Yamano was killed deliberately, both of whom Adachi considers his playthings. Realizing there are now both the supernatural and multiple people involved in the case, he masterminds the events of the rest of the game solely For the Evulz.
    • One of the Midnight Channel's apparent purposes is to provide entertainment for the audience, by showcasing the worst aspects of a victim's personality in an advanced Malicious Slander. One of the themes of the game is that the best and not the worst parts makes the person interesting.
    • Depending on player's dialogue choices, Yu can also agree the town is lackluster, though it has no gameplay significance.

From Fridge.Puss In Boots The Last Wish.

  • At first, it may be hard to guess just what kind of bug the Ethical Bug was supposed to be. After some thought, you realize that he was most likely a cicada, another insect famous for being very noisy.
    • This one might be a bit of a stretch; given that he tries to act as a conscience to the characters, it’s more likely that he’s an incarnation of the Talking Cricket from Pinocchio.
    • Yeah I know that, my point is that he's obviously not a cricket though.

Should this whole thing be cut? It sounds completely speculative and gives no other indication of the bug being a cicada outside of him being noisy.

Just commented this out in FridgeHorror.Advertising (plus dewicked the sinkholes in the main bullet.

  • Four words: Snickers. Peanut. Butter. Squared. [1]
    • What's probably worse is that this company is willing to feed their own employees (or possibly even unwitting volunteers they picked off the street) to sharks for a profit.
    • And what about that one where a lifeguard, who should be doing his job, is just staring at seagulls and thinking a voice calling "Help!" is coming from the seagulls instead of that poor boy far away who we then see dip under.

[down] Okay, nuking.

That's...very much the opposite of what Fridge Horror is. It's a scary/dark situation played for laughs, very upfront about it. Fridge Horror is something that only becomes scary later on when you think about the logical implications.

I would just cut it.

VideoGame.Fire Emblem The Blazing Blade has six sub-bullets to talk about one ending, I'm losing my mind

  • Bittersweet Ending: Reading the epilogue about all the characters after the final level really feels this way if you let a lot of them die...
    • Even without any casualties, The Blazing Blade still has a bittersweet ending. Sure, the Dragon Gate is closed, Nergal's mad schemes have been put to rest for good, and Eliwood and Hector went on to rule Pherae and Ostia for fifteen or twenty years... but Bern's royal family is still royally screwed up, Athos and Bramimond are dead (not that anyone missed Bramimond, but still...), all of those Robin Hood types from the Black Fang have been killed or scattered to the winds, and fifteen short years later, a new tyrant sits on Bern's throne...
      • Not to mention that Ninian either has to say goodbye forever to the man she loves, or to her brother; and either way in turn, Nils won't ever see any of the new friends the two of them made ever again.
      • Priscilla has three potential love interests and a large slew of male characters for her supports, but the only one she can actually end up marrying is Erk. The other two (Guy and Heath) wind up leaving her due to class differences (Guy is a nomad, Heath's a mercenary from Bern, while Erk studied under noblemen). In both, she winds up crying. Good grief.
      • Without support grades to change their ending, the following disappear and are never seen again: Dart, Raven, Renault, and Jaffar.
      • Matching up your supports in particular ways can lead to the worst possible endings. Get Ninian with Eliwood, and it's implied she dies. If Nino gets with Erk, they both disappear. In Karel and Dart's supports, it's implied that Karel will kill Vaida. If Vaida got with Heath, then he probably died alongside her. Priscilla's issues are mentioned above, and finally, if Isadora gets with Renault, then she ends up in a covenant, and if she gets with Legault then they end up fighting each other in battle. Cheers to a happy ending!
    • For those Doomed by Canon, see the entry below.

This is so bad I want to just burn the whole thing but it is an example just arghghg

This is on Mario Kart 8, regarding Early-Bird Cameo:

  • Sky-High Sundae's inclusion in the Booster Course Pass is meant to be this, as the track would be released in Mario Kart Tour less than a week after Wave 2's release. The Super Mario Wiki eventually decided that the course was both a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Mario Kart Tour course because it was officially promoted as a new course for both games.

Do we really need to have this mention of the wiki?
