It's been discussed a lot at the Video Uploading
thread that a lot of poor videos are slipping through the cracks, and that a clean-up effort is necessary if we are to combat the problem.
Common issues are:
- Videos spoiling major events from a work
- Videos not actually fitting the trope they're attached to
- Videos in which the important part doesn't happen until halfway through, with the length being ultimately pointless
- Videos that use the entire work, breaking copyright; this can be done either with one video showcasing an entire short video, or multiple videos that add up to using the entire work in piecemeal.
- Videos lacking the proper media source, or any media source at all.
- General quality problems, like audio issues or artifacting.
So, we've got our work cut out for us; but this is at least a place to discuss problems and come to solutions.

I think that video is fine. Also I don't think hololive is getting cut any time soon.
I thought I should post that the current only Ironic Hell video mistakenly had its source changed from Dragon Ball Super to Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' when it's actually from Super's adaptation of the movie. Since I'm the uploader, I corrected it back.

I'm a little nervous about the John Oliver video I uploaded to Harsher in Hindsight. Is it descriptive enough? I brought it up a while back as a possible video candidate and mightymewtron said it could be OK, but that it doesn't really explain why these people are Harsher in Hindsight. Tellingly, the video is at 3 stars out of 5.
Is it descriptive enough, or no?

Oh, I think I approved that one without thinking about it. Besides the "not aged well" screen card, I don't think there are any other indicators that the clips aren't humorous anymore because of real life events.

I think so, yeah. Even if it's just a montage of images of the meme out in the wild, that's better than nothing.
It might also be a symptom of the whole "just post the line the meme came from" issue Memetic Mutation has in general.

I brought this up on another thread. I reject a video for Memetic Mutation because it just had the scene where the meme orginates from. I think anyone can upload a random scene from a work as an example so I don't think the origin scene is enough to illustrate the trope (I wasn't sure about that at the time though). I think we should limit video examples to lampshades, in-universe and discussed examples because Memetic Mutation is YMMV but I'm not sure if that's too restrictive or not. I was planning going through the video list if we decide to limit the scope of video examples.

That's a technical issue and not one normal tropers can help with, is the thing.

So Kinky Spanking has one video example that really is not an example at all. It's just an actress who is probably recalling a scene with the trope. I can't even tell if that's accurate from the brief video.
Incidentally, I think it might be safer to not allow videos for this trope. It's a rather risqué trope, usually NSFW.

The two videos on VideoExamples.Nightmare Ned both have quality issues. One has static on the soundtrack, which isn't too bad. The other is bad visually, with missing frames, distorted images and colours, likely from a VCR recording of a broadcast. I wonder if they are acceptable from a quality standpoint.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.
To be fair, isn’t that show so rare it’s partially lost media?

I'll reject the Kinky Spanking video because it's not an example of the trope but please use the Video Moderations requests thread for requesting mod action. This thread is for discussion on problematic videos. As making the video No Video Examples, Please!, I think I'd like to see more opinions on that.

Re: the video example removal — thanks, and ok, understood regarding the correct thread.
Are we allowed to use any old RL footage to demonstrate a trope if it fits? If not, the Ollie video under Cute, but Cacophonic and No Indoor Voice is gonna have to go because we've determined that Vtubers just streaming is not a narrative and thus IRL.
