Apparently some people find it easier to copy-paste text from other sources, including Wikipedia or the creator's original site, instead of coming up with their own text.
However, this could get the website in a ton of legal trouble for plagiarism and/or copyright violations. (Not to mention it's lazy writing to boot.) Since stopping that problem is a very high priority, and I've observed multiple cases of this problem as of late, let's give this its own dedicated clean-up thread. If you see any work, character, or recap descriptions that copy another source word-for-word, bring them up here if you're not sure how to immediately fix them.
Moderator notice: If you cannot immediately rewrite plagiarized text, remove it and put in a placeholder note. A sample follows:
[This description was copied in violation of our [[Administrivia/AboutImagesAndCopyright Plagiarism]] policy. Please replace it with original writing.]
Below is a list of currently known pages that suffer from this problem, and the source they copy from. (This list can be updated by mods or by me, Totemic Hero.) The ideal goal is to have these pages fixed within a week or two of finding out about the copy-paste. If we can't manage to come up with a fix in that time frame, then we'll probably have to outright Cut List said pages, because the site can't risk legal issues.

~Saveelich, hi again. I'd like your help cleaning up the other creator pages you've made that copy from Wikipedia.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)Alright, is there a list of pages that need work? I'm sorry and I will gladly improve them.
Fanfic.A Dragons Journey. Its description has been copied from Fimfic.
Sort the header list by work type?

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576It's pretty much the same work required in all of them: work up a new description incorporating the important info that was already there, and substituting it in. The only distinction of note is between single page issues and "umbrella" cases spread over multiple character sheets or recap pages.
As for ~Saveelich: the big one you need to address is Creator.Harry Hamlin, but you have a lot of very stubby creator pages you have made that look like you did some minor tweaks to the first paragraph of their respective Wikipedia articles, then just posted it. Not only is that still borderline copyright violation, it's also nothing more than a stub. (Examples include pages like Creator.Lea Thompson, Creator.Zazie Beetz, and Creator.Adrian Paul.)
If you really have trouble coming up with original descriptions, you can post in this thread, but regardless it would be best if you were to focus on fixing those pages you've made, instead of making additional edits to other pages.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)The work page description for Literature.Wonder Woman Warbringer is taken from the synopsis on the back of the book.
Escape from Tarkov is similar to the Wikipedia article
The work page description for Mirror Mirror 2017 appears to be a taken from the book's official synopsis.
Looks like the guy involved has done this with other pages like Rec Room. Paging ~CN0T3 to come in and discuss these pages.
, While I could not verify the first case, the fact that it's the same person in both cases leads me to agree it's probably a copy-paste. Calling in ~Chrissi to discuss it.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)All of the recap pages in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex are summaries copy pasted form the series' Wikipedia article.

FLCL Progressive & Alternative's synopses are taken straight from [adult swim]'s promotional material.
Bruno Bozzetto is from the Wikipedia article
Hey Totemic Hero. Sorry for the late reply, I just saw this. I'll continue to clean up Solomon's Perjury but let me know if there is something specific you want me to look into

It looks like Hero.com and Villain.net have their work descriptions taken from their official synopsis'.
Okay, let's get something done. (Would also appreciate someone helping with the backlog.)
I'd take that over the the Ghost in the Shell thread (and will do so if you don't). Recap and character pages are the worst, since it usually means multiple people are apathetic to, if not complicit in, the copy-paste.
I'll take care of the FLCL page myself, not too hard to write something new.
Paging ~Darius Riggs to discuss this page.
Tweaking the wording slightly is not writing a new description, ~Sunflower Dream.
Huh, I suppose there is something a bit hypocritical about bringing other copy-paste cases to this thread's attention while being responsible for a couple of their own. ~Xtifr, mind going and fixing those pages you made?

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)The description of The Feathered Serpent has part from the Wikipedia article and this review
Chasing the Dime has a description that is the same as it's Booklist description
Observa La Silla De Terror has the same description as IMDB (and not much else)
The beginning of Nicole Holofcener is from Wikipedia

TotemicHero Ive actully rewritten this description 3 times already. This series has a specific premise and revolves around a murder mystery and secrets. There really isnt much I can add without giving spoilers. I wrote the description based off my viewing of the series and when I compared it with wikipedia’s description, I feel my description is different enough. I’m not sure how else I could change it to make it any more different.

Characters.Yandere Simulator Female Students: Science Club: Homu Kurusu:
Her description is copied directly from the game.
Is that okay, since it's short? Could it be left alone, if its made clear that its a quote? Or should it be changed entirely?
Also not sure if this is an issue with any other characters.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576As for now, I'm holding off on addressing the above issues until I know for an absolute fact all of the major bugs with the 1.8 update disaster (and no, I'm not gonna sugar-coat it, this update to the site was nothing less than such) are fixed and dealt with. So sorry if it seems I've fallen behind, but I can't guarantee any edit any of us makes will stick.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)The work page description for SHAZAM! (2019) appears to be taken from the official synopsis.
Submitting here because I noticed our site was ripped off, my contributions especially.

Mine is older, and the TV Tropes version has text identical, word for word, from mine. No editor on our version edits or posts here on that topic.
Check the earliest recorded edits, it's a practical copypasta:

Uh...you are aware of just how bad this request makes you and your site look, with all the pages you've copied from TVTropes, right?
Nonetheless, we do try to hold to these standards where your site apparently doesn't, so it's time for a little chat about this. And since this matter is a little more complicated than usual...paging ~Psychopompus007 (the page maker) and ~Septimus Heap (a site mod) to get this party started.
My opinion is that the page should be completely cut - nothing of value will be lost. We will see what they (or other people who are around) have to say.

Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)I forgive you for the above, you may not be aware my site and yours have worked out a legal agreement on that matter and have pledged to respect each other's copyright as well as each other. Besides, our fork was content legally permissible to use under CC BY SA, all content afterwards we make sure not to touch unless people from here voluntarily repost their own work from here or give explicit consent for their work to be reused with proper attribution. Any content otherwise copied to our site in violation of the license used here now under CC BY NC SA is deleted when detected or we receive reports of such plagiarism.
In fact, I asked a moderator about this and they directed me to this thread.
That said, the page in question was created entirely by me on my site and I was not even asked for reuse rights, which I would have granted on request.
All I ask is that MY copyright be respected, as I have done in establishing my site and have striven to continue doing so since concerning this one.
Further, I'm willing to consent to accept letting my edits be reused on said page in their entirety with proper credit given in either the edit reasons or somewhere on the page, either is acceptable, with a link back to the original regardless of the method chosen, all I ask is an apology for the plagiarism.

I agree that our page needs to be redone. SA (share alike, i.e use the same or an equivalent licence when copying, which our NC license is not) is typically the most often overlooked licence term but it still applies. However, it looks like it was actually ~Lord Ronnoc who wrote it here?

I created mine June 26, 2017.
https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=VideoGame.TaleOfTwoWastelands#edit17961697
This one was created July 2nd, 2017, and comparison of the text shows it has copied my version in all relevant particulars, just with markup changes for TV Tropes while still retaining all of my original written text.
As I said, I will be willing to forgive this and willingly relicense all my original work from when it was originally copied here to CC BY NC SA, I just ask an edit notice on the page or in the edit reasons be added linking to the original and my consent to relicense under those conditions by way of an apology from here for the plagiarism, as I have no desire to force this site to lose any content over something we can settle honorably.
Well, it's someone who was already brought into this thread, so...guess we let them talk to the mods.
Edit: I double checked the dates, and the page predates us bringing them in. Still, they've got a lot of cleanup to do, so...
