This thread is a metathread for Trope Repair Shop discussion. Things like TRS policy, what is needed in a TRS opening post, questions about whether a certain topic is TRS-worthy and questions about why a thread wasn't opened go here.
Some guidelines for when/whether to use TRS:
- If the trope is fine, but has some bad examples, feel free to clean them up or to start a cleanup project at Projects: Short-Term. Trope Repair Shop is for when cleaning isn't sufficient.
- If you think there's something wrong with the trope that systematically attracts improper examples, start a discussion at Trope Talk. Use a Wick Check to see whether there's an issue present (and if there is, what the issue is), and post the results on TRS Queue and wait your turn if a problem is present. The following methods are two possible ways to do a wick check (though not necessarily the only ways):
- You can go ahead with the Wick Check without a discussion if you know what you're looking for. While it's not mandatory, feel free to ask someone for help confirming that you got the issue and the numbers correct.
- Consult the Wick Check Project thread to collect evidence if you need help.
- If a wick check is too much for you, you can leave the issue at Tropes Needing TRS citing the discussion.
- Depending on a trope (or non-trope) in question, a wick check may be determined to not be required, such as for tropes that are not thriving (per the standards for trope health listed on the Wick page). However, there is no problem if you want to do one anyway.

Parody Product Placement wasn't launched until a year or two ago (compared to the Product Placement page being from 2007), so I'm guessing that nobody thought to move the parodied examples for Product Placement over to the new page until now. I don't think there would be anything wrong with going ahead and moving the examples without a dedicated thread; I think the only reason they weren't moved after Parody Product Placement's launch is due to an oversight.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Seems like moving this part of the description over can simply be done as an editorial action.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDone. Turns out 95% of the examples had in fact be moved to the Parody page, just never removed from the non-parody.
I removed Robosexual from Tropes Needing TRS because it was added with the claim that it's a sexuality (it was added to a list of tropes related to the since-cut Bi The Way). I'm assuming that was based on an offsite meaning based on what comes up when it's looked up on Wikipedia, but on TV Tropes it refers to robots having an interest in romance and/or sex. How the TV Tropes definition Chairs?
That said, if people are misusing it based on offsite definitions, that would be an issue with the name, not the definition (but a thread would need a wick check either way).

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I found that questionable too. Even if "being a sexuality" was enough reason to check just to be sure, I'd still have put it with Romantic Asexual in the "probably fine" category.
e: The laconic was "screwing the robot", which might have contributed to the confusion. Based on skimming the main page definition, I changed it to "machines having sex with organics".
That said, the name really doesn't make sense for this definition.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.I actually did read the description for robosexual before adding it. But upon rereading, it seems I missed the "The Mechanical Lifeforms version of Interspecies Romance" part, which does indeed tell us that the robot has romantic/sexual desires. Apologies.
Now I am willing to concede that the correct usage of the trope—robots having romantic and/or sexual desires for organics—isn't People Sit on Chairsnote , but robosexual still belongs on Tropes Needing TRS because it does indeed get misused for organics having a fetish for robots.
- AmericanDad.Tropes F To J: "While it's never explicitly stated to be such, Steve has a recurring fascination with robotic women that is usually treated as a real character trait rather than a joke."
- EnsembleDarkhorse.Fallout: "KL-E-0, the Assaultron vendor in Goodneighbor. Despite her not playing that big a role, many fans love her for her hilariously dark sense of humor, seductive voice, and surprising level of humanity. Several fans have expressed disappointment about not being able to romance her"
- EnsembleDarkhorse.Mega Man: "Splash Woman (from Mega Man 9), who has a huge fan base and has made many players robosexual. Aside from Roll, she's one of the very few female characters in the series, let alone for the Classic timeline, and the only female Robot Master in the Classic games."
- Film.Cherry 2000: "Treadwell is in love with his sexbot Cherry 2000"
- VideoGame.Knights Of The Old Republic "Elise Montagne is revealed to be one near the end of her quest." Zero-Context Example. But as someone who's played the game, it would still be misuse even with context because the character mentioned is a human, and the robot she's attracted to doesn't have an interest in romance or sex with her.
I looked up robosexual offsite, and every definition I found (except this one) is explicitly about humans being attracted to robots, not the other way around. I guarantee that there's more misuse than what I found. The trope definitely needs to be renamed and still belongs on Tropes Needing TRS. Since we all seem to be in agreement that the problem lies with the name, are you ok with Robosexual being added to the "Poor title" folder?
The laconic did indeed contribute to the confusion, particularly since only one part of the main description—a part that I missed the first time I read it—made me think that the robot also held an attraction. That being said, the laconic still has room for improvement. How about this?
This makes it perfectly clear that the machines have the attraction, not the organics.

But one troper said
I was tired at the time and really needed sleep (I've been sick all week), so I could have misinterpreted the exact wording of the description and/or misworded my post. Either way, it's why my wording ended up so stern at the time (both in my edit summary and my previous post), and I'm sorry about that. I've slept since my last post and added the trope to the "Misuse or ZCE issues" section due to what's been said.
Edit: Moved the trope to the "Poor title" folder because I missed that suggestion. Anyway, feel free to make further tweaks to the Tropes Needing TRS entry if I missed anything; you might want to link to this discussion in an edit reason and on the discussion page (I don't want this to be mistaken for an edit war).

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. An ATT thread was made a few hours ago to bring attention to the already-closed and long-running crowner for Does This Remind You of Anything?. I'm not upset that more attention was gathered, but can we try to not have these attention posts occur so late in the crowner's runtime? All that does is draw things out more. ~Imperial Majesty XO, can you try to make these posts a little more timely? If you hit the "crowners" button on the main forum page you can see all threads with hooked crowners- I've noticed a lot of your attention posts come almost immediately after someone suggests calling said crowner, which like I said, only ever draws out the process and is sometimes too late to be useful. It'd be better if you started making these threads earlier, before anyone attempts to have them called, because that's when they need attention the most and it wouldn't come off as stalling the process.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'll try.
The Bang,Bang,BANG thread's title isn't formatted properly (the page is Bang, Bang, BANG), and the opening post is short and only says to change the name without providing any evidence in favor if it.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. The page title seems to be right to me. Do you mean a forum thread? You can holler a mod to change the title of a thread.
Optimism is a duty.I did say the thread's title was improperly formatted, because page links in thread titles can't have commas in them. I gave a link to the trope page (whose custom title was already fine) for reference's sake.
Anyway, my main problem with the thread is that it's a "Change the name because I don't like it" thread.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. So one trope I think may need a rename is Self-Abuse, but it doesn't seem to be misused much. It is underused (53 wicks, including indexes) but not starving. But the name is really unclear as I'm not sure how many people know that euphemism. On the other wiki, "Self abuse" is a disambiguation between three pages about self-harm and a mention of the masturbation euphemism without a page. Is this enough evidence to put a thread together, or do I still need to prove misuse?
Also, what does low wicks but high number of inbounds mean for a trope? Does that help or hurt its chances of being renamed? Because I'm wondering if the 1,472 inbounds for Self-Abuse come from people trying to find Self-Harm.
(Sidenote, I did have a private conversation about Robosexual going to TRS, and I personally agree that it's not really doing much harm. Though I could see it being split into "fetish for robots" and "robot/organic relationships" if there's enough distinction there.)

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. My first association was self harm, actually.
But yes, it seems to be an unclear title issue.
Optimism is a duty.Mega Crossover was merged with Massive Multiplayer Crossover, 5+ years ago.
By possibly no consensus.
Should we undo that? Do we need a Repair thread for that?
I can't see any useful distinction between the two, but does anyone else?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe new thread for One-Hit Kill does not check enough wicks.
I'm back!Should all entries on Tropes Needing TRS with currently open threads be removed?
I'm back!Yes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness- ~A Guy, just in case you didn't PM them.
Btw, I have some examples where it's "Eventually, you're a high enough level that you can do this."
And I'd like a First Turn Kill trope for winning the fight right when it starts, but with a whole Player Party.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I honestly got a little distracted from wicking that. Currently doing a wick count for Two Girls to a Team and will resume that once I'm done.
I'm just.. a guy....
The trope Product Placement has a lengthy section for parodies which takes up about one-third on the page. However, the trope Parody Product Placement also exists, which is exactly the same thing.
What I'd like to do is simply move the whole parody section on Product Placement into Parody Product Placement, and mention the latter page on the former.
Do people feel this needs a thread and a crowner first, or is this a straightforward editing fix?
