Do you have trouble remembering the difference between Deathbringer the Adorable and Fluffy the Terrible?
Do you have trouble recognizing when you've written a Zero-Context Example?
Not sure if you really have a Badass Bookworm or just a guy who likes to read?
Well, this is the thread for you. We're here to help you will all the finer points of example writing. If you have any questions, we can answer them. Don't be afraid. We don't bite. We all just want to make the wiki a better place for everyone.
Useful Tips:
- Make sure that the example makes sense to both people who don't know the work AND don't know the trope.
- Wrong: The Mentor: Kevin is this to Bob in the first episode.
- Right: The Mentor: Kevin takes Bob under his wing in the first episode and teaches him the ropes of being a were-chinchilla.
- Never just put the trope title and leave it at that.
- Wrong: Badass Adorable
- Right: Badass Adorable: Xavier, the group's cute little mascot, defeats three raging elephants with both hands tied behind his back using only an uncooked spaghetti noodle.
- When is normally far less important than How.
- A character name is not an explanation.
- Wrong: Full Moon Silhouette: Diana
- Right: Full Moon Silhouette: At the end of her transformation sequence into Moon Princess Misty, Diana is shown flying across the full moon riding a rutabaga.

For best results, please include why you think an example is iffy in your first post.
Also, many oft-misused tropes/topics have their own threads, such as Surprisingly Realistic Outcome (here) and Fan-Preferred Couple (here). Tropers are better able to give feedback on examples you bring up to specific threads.
For cleaning up examples of Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard, you must use their dedicated threads: Complete Monster Cleanup, Magnificent Bastard Cleanup.

Any thoughts on my Greater-Scope Villain question?
Absolute destiny... apeachalypse?I don't think so; the description talks only about this character being likeable to the audience.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure Pureness- Well, given the more puns based on the connection, I'd say it for sure counts.

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Either way, Adorkable needs cleanup for examples without context and gushing.
Keet cleanupMaking Adorkable in-universe would honestly make it like a thousand times better as a page, IMO.
I'd agree, though this would need a lot more discussion.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAdorkable has always struck me as a YMMV trope in mainspace, since examples seem to focus more on the audience's perception rather than the author's intent or In-Universe descriptions.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!A long time ago (6 years ago, to be precise), there was a Trope Repair Shop with this exact reasoning, but no clear resolution was reached because votes were very much against making it in-universe. However, making it YMMV was also not approved. Link. (Sadly, the options on the crowner are now not visible because it was replaced with test red links.)
I would so TRS the hell out this thing.
And dedicated cleanup effort is needed so badly, too. It has 10 617 wicks. So many of those are ZCE or gushing, it's painful. (But these efforts usually burn out pretty quickly because it's not as fun as troping your favourite fiction.)
I restored the three most-voted-for crowner options.
Keet cleanupThat TRS was six years ago and somehow the crowner received 19 downvotes for abiding by wiki policy. Maybe you can TRS it again and point out 2013 was a Different Time.
From Hazbin Hotel. Does this count as I'm a Humanitarian?
- I'm a Humanitarian: He's a deer demon, but he also has a taste for venison.
It was taken out with this reason "This trope is about humans eating humans, not a-former-human-with-a-deer-theme-eating-deer"
I'm generally confused with the trope based on some of the examples listed on its sub pages and else where.
Most examples are human cannibalism. This I easily understand.
Some examples are about non-humans eating humans such as Jack the Giant Slayer with the giants. This maybe another trope I guess.
Some examples are about non-human cannibalism such as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
and Warhammer 40,000 with Orc cannibalism, Adventure Time with one Lemongrab eating another, Dragon's Egg with Cheela cannibalism. These I think most relates to my question.
Does a former human turned deer demon that has a taste for deer count as I'm a Humanitarian?
I'm a Humanitarian applies to any creature intelligent enough to think independently and communicate that eats members of its own species. Umm... Are deer and deer demons related species or do the demons just resemble deer?
The person was a human who became a demon when he went to hell. It's unlikely he is part deer in anyway.
Alastor actually is very much part deer. He has antlers, deer ears, and all. Him eating deer like in this speed draw is treated and seen as cannibalism.
But thats his appearance in Hell. He a Human who went to hell who demon form is based on a deer.
That's a bit of a thing. He's not a demon that simply has deer based attributes just for cosmetic reasons. He's a demon that's literally part deer. In fact, he's treated as if he's a full on deer.
It's hard to explain but take other characters in the show like Angel Dust and Sir Pentious. They're not demons simply with animal appearances. They're straight up animal demons. The same applies to Alastor but on a lower level of the anthro scale.

In concordance with the "Removing complaining, bashing and other negativity from the wiki" thread, I wonder if we can remove the following entry on YMMV.Azur Lane:
- Narm: Sometimes the fanservice gets awkward and distracting rather than arousing. Tennessee comes to mind, where she's trying to look tough but the effect is ruined by a prominent pantyshot. Some would even say that some loading screens are not just Narmy, but borderline scrappy, due to the amount of fanservice they showcase, with two of the biggest offenders being the Onsen loading screen featuring copious amount of nudity with the Censor Steam barely doing anything, and the 4th of July "Washington Crossing the Delaware" screen. As of Halloween 2019, one of the Halloween-themed loading screens, featuring succubi versions of most of the big-breasted characters received a similar reception.
I thought Narm was supposed to cover only dramatic moments unintentionally becoming comedic. This entry, on the other hand, does nothing but bash the fanservice.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom PainThat example seems to just exist to complain about the fanservice, and it doesn't explain how it makes the serious moments come off as unintentionally hilarious. Cut.
& Seconded.
Thirded.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! From YMMV.Overwatch 2 It's the Same, So It Sucks.
- One common criticism about the game, before it was even released, was that it is essentially content that should have been added to the original title beforehand but now requires a separate game purchase to enjoy. Or that it is essentially the PvE half of Overwatch.
The example itself doesn't say how its the same and instead talks about content that should have been part of the original game but wasn't.
Cut. I don't even think Overwatch 2 should have a page given it doesn't have a release day yet. I say cut everything on that page save Memetic Mutation and Older Than They Think (We don't know if the Ensemble Dark Horse is a minor character but their being in the trailer suggests otherwise) as everything else is speculation and knee-jerk.
YMMV.Terminator Dark Fate: Tainted by the Preview: Early leaks and reviews that spoiled the plot point that John Connor dies caused a large backlash among hardcore fans of the first two films before Dark Fate was even released.
I intend to cut as that's not a preview (do early releases at festivals or Spoiled by the Merchandise count as previews?). Thoughts?

I noticed there were non-video game examples in Catharsis Factor, Despite the decription saying it's about the things you do, not the things you see that are stress relieving. Most of the non-video game examples fall into Take That, Scrappy! or gushing about a Hate Sink or Asshole Victim being punished. Like this:
- Starlight Glimmer bluntly telling Pinkie Pie she was solely at fault for her sister Maud leaving Ponyville for Ghastly Gorge. What would otherwise be Innocently Insensitive is extremely satisfying to see considering how many times Pinkie had acted insufferably to others at times, especially to Cranky Doodle, Fluttershy, and Princess Luna in their respective episodes without actual consequence.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! From Ikea Erotica:
- Micheal Grant's GONE. "She sighed as he entered her." Really?
The one line given here doesn't seem like an example.
Is Adorkable supposed to mean that characters are considering endearing for their awkwardness by other characters? Because I often see it (over)used for fangirl gushing.
