Watame Did Borderline Nothing Wrong (ギリギリわるくないわため) is a spin-off series of 15-25 second animated shorts that feature Tsunomaki Watame of hololive, going off her "Watame Did Nothing Wrong" catchphrase. They typically feature her doing things ranging from the odd to the mischievous and the surreal to the outright impossible — often with other Hololive personalities making appearances and getting involved in her antics — that should get her in trouble, but ultimately don't. Well, not that often, anyway.

All episodes are updated on a weekly basis (every Friday), and can be viewed here.

These shorts provide examples of:

  • Ascended Meme: The shorts go off Watame's memetic "Watame did nothing wrong" catchphrase.
  • Bee Afraid: One episode features a giant person in a body suit with a bee emoji on its face (used as a stand-in for an actual swarm of bees) chasing Watame and Fubuki for stealing their honey.
  • Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: One short has Watame chugging hot sauce, which makes her breathe laser-like fire that destroys a brick wall... and has aliens freaking out, for some reason (apparently, the wall was part of their house).
  • Butt-Monkey: If Fubuki appears, expect her to be a common victim of Watame's antics. Specifically, one short involves Fubuki running after Watame to pass a baton, but Watame keeps running faster out of her reach, tiring her out. Watame also stands back and lets her do all the work in a tug-of-war game against Noel.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Watame has this role to a T, doing crazy antics like driving and making beep noises.
  • Couch Gag: The ending jingle will sometimes be narrated by a different character who played a role in the episode. Sometimes, the jingle will be something a bit different, like when YAGOO wearily says "I'm going to have a word with your manager about this" or when Botan sings "Girigiri chotto warui ika mo, Watame~!" (Watame did borderline something kinda wrong!).
  • Covers Always Lie: The thumbnail for the Tug-O-War short with Fubuki and Noel makes it look like it's going to be an intense battle between the two sides, but the actual short in question is Fubuki strenuously doing the actual work, Watame barely doing anything and just doing funny faces, and Noel mopping the floor with them without even trying due to her Super-Strength.
  • Denser and Wackier: If you thought Holo No Graffiti was crazy, then this escalates the wackiness of Watame even further.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Earlier shorts were made exclusively for the "Youtube Shorts" feature, meaning they were vertically-orientated; plus, a good portion of them were done with just white backgrounds. Later shorts were remade for the full horizontal orientation, and these shorts were all remade as compilation videos to fit this orientation.
  • The Flirt: Watame is definitely more flirtatious towards her fellow talents here compared to her normal self. For instance, when her and Fubuki are chased by bees for stealing honey, Watame takes the time to compliment Fubuki for the bees chasing her for being "so sweet".
  • Gag Dub: Played with. Watame tries dubbing EN Talents Kiara and Ina from outside of a window, voicing over them as if they were talking about how cute she is. When she's caught, both are pissed and prepare to give Watame a beating. Cue an Oh, Crap! from Watame.
  • Gag Series: For what it's worth, every episode is played with surreal humor in mind and generally doesn't take itself too seriously. Even Watame dying doesn't keep her out for long.
  • Gratuitous English: "A Different Kind Of Love" has Watame yell out a hammy "HELP-A ME!" in English when a hungry Botan drags her off-screen to eat her.
  • Karma Houdini: Most of the time, Watame gets away with her antics with not even a slap on the wrist. However...
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: ...every once in a while Watame does get punished, with some episodes even ending in her — temporary, of course — death. Most notably, being Eaten Alive by Botan, impaled through the head with a scythe by Calli, having her neck broken beneath Noel's breasts, and receiving an off-screen No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from a very pissed-off Ina and Kiara.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: This happens to Watame in the Dead Serious Workout short, courtesy of Mori Calliope. After using sit-ups as an excuse to press her face into Calli's breasts, the unamused reaper reacts as you'd expect:
Watame: One more— (Calli's scythe appears and stabs Watame all the way through the back of the head) AHH!
  • Language Barrier: Parodied. When ID Talent Iofi asks Watame where the closest library is in English, Watame (in Japanese) replies that in 10 meters is her house. She tries to rephrase the question, which gets a similar answer plus a French phrase. Then Iofi asks Watame the same question in Indonesian, which results in Watame giving the same answer in Indonesian. Ironic, considering Iofi can speak and understand Japanese very well.
  • Legendary Weapon: Played with. In the episode featuring Lui, Watame pulls the Blade of Luigend, who Watame interrupts by constantly putting her back in her pedestal as if she was a sink plunger. Watame then comments "what a weird sword" as the Blade keeps getting more annoyed.
  • Marshmallow Hell: One episode with Noel involves Watame getting smothered — and then promptly having her neck snapped when she starts to enjoy it — by the former's breasts.
  • Negative Continuity: In episodes where Watame dying is involved, expect her to be better by the next short. For instance, Calliope kills Watame after she does sit-ups and uses it as an excuse to smush her face in her boobs, but she shows up completely fine next time. Then again, considering that Watame is capable of "respawning"...
  • Oh, Crap!: After Watame is caught by Ina and Kiara "dubbing" over them and they furiously start to turn into their strongest forms, Watame books it while shouting "Run away!".
  • Surreal Humor: A lot of the humor comes from the bizarre set-up of the shorts and antics that Watame gets up to, as well as the exaggerated faces Watame makes.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: In some episodes, Watame's not even safe from death, although it's Played for Laughs and she comes back perfectly fine the next week.
  • Uncanny Valley: Most of Watame's expressions in the shorts are intentionally designed to be more unsettling or weird, especially when she's smug or happy (which usually lead to a squished-up Playful Cat Smile). Her blush is super-exaggerated too, making her look different than even her normal counterpart.
  • Visual Pun: In "Kiss Note", the fish that force Watame and Botan to kiss are "Kisu" ... which is pronounced very similarly to "Kiss".
