Returning Characters

  • Sagat: The only game in the series he hasn't made an appearance in is III. His attendance record matches Chun-Li's and Akuma's, and is only surpassed by that of Ryu's and Ken's, so leaving him out of Street Fighter 6 would feel rather strange. It also provides Muay Thai representation which would contribute well to World Tour.
    • Super Arts:
      • Level 1: Tiger Cannon
      • Level 2: Tiger Raid
      • Level 3: Tiger Rampage
  • Vega: A staple of the series when it comes to villainous characters, Vega's unique fighting style allows him to stand out in any Street Fighter roster he's in. Now with Shadaloo being dissolved, it would be interesting to see what he has been up to without his employer.
  • Balrog: Like Vega, Balrog is a character that commonly appears across his series, being the series' first and most iconic boxer. Not only would his story be spiced up without Shadaloo's support, but the more grungy, street brawl aesthetic of the game would suit a Shadaloo-less Balrog well.
  • M. Bison: He has been mentioned by Capcon to still exist as a ghost called Phantom Bison. He could serve as a foil to JP in fighting style and methods of villainy. His skin would be the colour of white bones to show that he is still dead and fighting you as a ghost under the name Phantom Bison or P. Bison.
  • Dan Hibiki: He ended up being one of the more well-received veterans from V, so bringing him back here would be welcomed by many people who enjoyed playing as him in Street Fighter V.
    • Level 1: Haoh Gadoken
    • Level 2: Hissho Buraiken
    • Level 3: Original move akin to Shisso Buraiken, with lots of goofy posing in-between attacks.
  • Sakura: Often voted most popular character in the franchise according to official Capcom polls. Her inclusion in V was used as the initial draw for Season 3.
    • Super Arts:
      • Level 1: Shinku Hadoken
      • Level 2: Haru Ichiban
      • Level 3: Sakura Rain and/or a new move
  • Sodom: One of the only Final Fight characters that hasn't reappeared since Alpha. Since this game takes place in Metro City, it'd be an easy opportunity to show what Sodom's been up to since his last outing.
  • Cody: As mentioned before, the game takes place in Metro City which Cody is now mayor of. (Which was warmly received) Another thing of note is that V seemed to be setting up a new villainous force trying to take over the city and we do see what seems to be mooks for this new threat in the trailer, suggesting 6 will give greater focus to the Final Fight cast.
  • Guy: One of the original protagonists of Final Fight, him being in Street Fighter 6 makes too much sense to not let happen.
  • Karin: A very popular character from V and Alpha; there's also a big gap between her last appearance and this game that could be used to build on what she's been up to. Maybe the Kanzuki brand has been expanded or faltered, and that carries her progression.
  • Ingrid: Ingrid has a connection to Psycho Power. Having her discussing or interact with JP could shed some light on the mysterious aformentioned character.
  • Alex: The protagonist of the Street Fighter 3 series. It would only make sense to see where he is and how he's doing with the possibility of Gill either being defeated or hiding in the shadows. He'd also continue trying to become a stronger fighter. He is also the canonical World Fighting Championship champion, with that tournament canonically having taken place in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact. He could be wanting to defend his title.
  • Necro: Similar to Sean, he has not been in a game in a long time. With 6 taking place after Third Strike, it would be interesting to see what he and Effie are up to, especially if Gill and Urien aren't fully gone. He already has a bit of a cult fanbase and it'd be fun to see how he's reimagined in a modern Street Fighter game.
  • Makoto: One of the most requested characters for Street Fighter V and another SF3 character. It would be shocking if she didn't end up playable in this game at any point.
  • Elena: Another fan favorite from Street Fighter III. It would be interesting to see how much she has grown since we last saw her; maybe she's become queen by now. And as a capoeirista and the series' only Kenyan rep, there's a lot of potential for World Tour.
  • Ibuki: Just like Elena, it would be interesting to see how much Ibuki has grown in the chronological timeline.
  • Hugo: The classic giant fighter of the series; it'd be really interesting to see how someone as big as him works with the new systems and artstyle. Maybe he's become a really prolific wrestler like Zangief.
  • Sean: A longtime fan-favorite from III. With the implication that 6 is post-Third Strike, there's a lot of room to show how Sean has grown as a fighter since then. He's also allegedly involved with Ken's story arc, which would be good room to show their dynamic.
  • Q: 6 is the first game in the franchise to be set after Third Strike, the only game Q has ever appeared in. If there is any time to resolve the plot of the most mysterious character in the franchise, now would be the case.
  • Crimson Viper: A fan-favorite from IV that was teased multiple times in V but never added in the end.
  • Hakan: Every roster needs a few oddballs to spice things up, and the tomato-red man drenched in oil has a lot of potential. There's also never been a Turkish stage in the series which would really add to World Tour.
  • Poison: The game being set in Metro City and her being a very popular character from both Final Fight and Street Fighter makes her inclusion feel more like a "when" than an "if".
  • Laura: A popular newcomer from V and a unique fighting style with her Jiu Jitsu.
  • Menat: One of the big stars of V's cast, and with a moveset, nationality and aesthetic not yet featured in 6.
  • G: He was hyped up to be a major force in the last game, and we haven't seen yet what that'll lead to. He also seems to briefly appear in the introductory cutscene to World Tour (dastardly-looking man with the beard and top hat).
    • Jossed for the base game, as the bearded man in the intro is JP.
  • Seth: While not exactly a fan-favorite, Seth was a surprise hit after their overhaul in V as a somewhat tragic, body swapped villain. The dubious SiRN corporation which plays a significant role in the story seems like an obvious cover for SIN, and their copy robots which look suspiciously like Seth would provide ample foreshadowing for Seth's return.

New potential characters

  • Azam: Introduced in Street Fighter V as an NPC, Rashid’s butler, Azam was one of the most highly requested characters to get added to Street Fighter V’s roster, this is especially notable as unlike the other highly requested characters, Azam had no prior appearances in the franchise. While he ultimately didn’t make the cut for Street Fighter V’s roster, his popularity could lead to him finally getting Promoted to Playable in Street Fighter 6.
  • Mike Haggar: Haggar is a Capcom icon who's never been in an SF title before, despite a long history of Final Fight crossing over into it. It'd also be cool to see him retired from politics and what he's been up to in the meantime, possibly finding other avenues to stop future crime lords from ruling the city.
    • Let's hope the specifically labeled Memorial statue for Haggar built in Metro City for SF6 is one of the few examples where such monument is built for the living, otherwise the implications for Haggar's current status in the story could be a sad one.
  • Athena Asamiya: Similar to Ingrid, Athena Asamiya has a connection to Psycho Power. She could prove beneficial and provide some insight to JP who is a fellow Psycho Power user. Her involvement could be similar to Akuma in Tekken 7 or possibly Kyo Kusanagi or K' in Capcom Fighting All-Stars.
  • A remnant of Shadaloo who will either be a major antagonist or just another roster member. Their primary motivation would be to attempt to ressurect Shadaloo to its former glory. Bonus points if they're meant as a "back-up" for M. Bison just in case.
    • Covered through JP.
  • A Weak, but Skilled character, potentially one that's also an Old Master that's a Glass Cannon who is at their most effective in the hands of heavily experienced players.
  • An actual street-fighter whose moves consist out of unflashy yet incredibly brutal attacks that would be illegal any mainstream fighting tournament, such as stomping their opponents out, punching them in the back of the neck, and of course, deliberately striking the human body's natural weakpoints, such as the groin, the stomach, the liver, the throat, the eyes etc., with the key difference between him and Cody is that this character would exclusively use their bare hands and would also use a far wider variety of techniques than him, such as knees, elbows, grapples, chokeholds, throws, and headbutts, all stemming from fighting ever since they were a child against a wide variety of opponents. Maybe Kyle from Streetwise?
  • A judo master who is both strong and fast but has very short ranged attacks consisting entirely out of various throws, and holds although they possess some evasive moves to balance this lack of range out.
    • Covered through Manon.
  • A potential upgrade to Twelve in the form of Thirteen, who could sport a new appearance and even deadlier tools than his predecessors.
    • Or maybe Twenty-Four could be the upgrade.
  • März: Cammy does say that she was obliterated with No Body Left Behind in V, but this is still a bit suspicious, given how Charlie was able to come back (and then die for good), as was Gouken. Her return could have her end up somehow involved with JP, (and possibly G and/or Gill), her dying for real to finish off JP in the end or perhaps finally earning her happy ending.
    • Alternatively, she’ll become Bison’s new vessel.
  • Proto Man: Given that Dr. Light seems to exist (on money, apparently) alongside the Mets, it’s not too implausible Proto Man could join the fight at some point. Proto Man’s story would explain his absence from 11, and could also end up detailing the end of his life as his power core depletes away and eventually kills him, with him taking to the streets to fight humans as a way to try and find his true purpose and possibly stave off his demise.
  • Tiffany Lords: One of the most popular Rival Schools characters, she would also be the first ever female boxer in the series. Would also be interesting to see where she is now, possibly even being the First Lady!
    • In addition, we'll be going full circle since Tiffany was designed to debut in Street Fighter III before the creation of Rival Schools as a boxer character whose spot was later filled by Dudley.
  • King Cobra, finally getting his chance at being a playable character at last. He'll be established as a friend of Jamie, since Jamie's concept is similar to Cobra's, and a rival of Rufus since Rufus replaced Cobra during development of Street Fighter IV.
  • Jin Kazama. Bonus points if he mentions having fought Akuma at some point, as a way of fully tying the two franchises together.

    Timeline placement
  • After Street Fighter III: Continuing the story after the latest game in the timeline. Evidence that points to this includes Ryu's design, which is older and has a garment evocative of Oro, his teacher from the end of Third Strike.
  • The game takes place around 2008. Third Strike is said to take place in 1998 and going off of Mel and Li-Fen's aging from then to now, they seem to be about ten years older, as they are said to be teenagers now and look about 13-15 (for reference, Mel is 4 in Third Strike). The veterans also don't look to be too much older but it's clear there was a significant Time Skip.
    • Surprisingly, jossed. In a World Tour interaction, Guile said the F-16 had been ”protecting the skies for over 40 years. Assuming events involving the conception and introduction of the F-16 aren’t significantly different that’d put World Tour at the mid or late 2010s if Guile is referring to the start of its production or its first flight.

    Single Player Content (Pre-Release)

The reveal trailer showcased some kind of open world mode within Metro City, including a player-created character and several roaming elements like multi-layered areas and interactive abilities (the player performs a Shoryuken on some trash cans)
  • There could be a quest system ala Yakuza or Xenoblade, interacting with the playable fighters and progressing their stories. Examples: (sort of confirmed?..)
    • Helping Ken through an apparent mid-life crisis.
      • Nevermind; he's actually on the run from the law.
    • Helping Ryu find pupils to start passing his techniques onto.
    • Helping Li-Fen impress Chun-Li as the former is studying under her. (Turns out to be the inverse; Chun is the one to ask the player to spend time with Li-Fen)
    • Going to Dee Jay's performances lets you do a Rhythm Game that unlocks more and more rewards.
    • Following Cammy as she adjusts to civilian life following Shadaloo's downfall.
    • Helping Juli and Noembelu get back to their normal lives with Lily's help.
    • Promoting Rashid's streams by finding opponents he can battle.
    • Akuma appears as a Recurring Boss, wanting to test your character to see how strong you grow every battle.

Story and plot elements

JP is the boss/main antagonist of the game.
JP is the newest vessel for M. Bison.
  • Semi-confirmed. He claims to be the latest successor of Psycho Power, but it's unknown if he's an outright vessel for Bison.

Marisa is connected to G and/or the Illuminati.
She has a gold color theme like G and she uses Pankration like Urien and Gill.

Chun-Li will be introduced beside a grave.
She will be placing flowers on Charlie Nash's grave with Guile and Charlie's comrades. It will be the developers way of saying that Charlie is dead for good.

The identity of the purple-scarred figure in the 'Your Story' trailer
  • Bosch
    • Confirmed
  • Rudra
    • Jossed
  • Kage
    • Jossed
  • Akuma
    • Jossed
  • A new character we haven’t seen before
    • Very likely, as the figure seems too slender to be Akuma and if you pause at just the right moment and look at the very top of the screen, you will be able to see that the figure has what appears to be a white beard, which none of the other three guessed characters thus far have, unless Kage gets a major redesign.
    • Jossed. It’s Bosch, the white beard was actually a cardboard box he was wearing on his head
  • JP
    • If you pause at just the right moment and look at the very top of the screen, you can see that the figure has what appears to be a white beard. Plus the clip of the purple-scarred figure being shown when Dhalsim mentions the Satsui no Hado could be a deliberate mislead and the purple scars could be a sign of Psycho Power instead. JP is the only character in the game who we know has a white beard and can use Psycho Power.
    • Semi-Jossed. It’s Bosch, the white beard was actually a cardboard box he was wearing on his head. Though the clip showing him when Dhalsim mentioned the Satsui no Hado during the 'Your Story' trailer was in fact a deliberate mislead. Bosch’s purple scars are actually due to modifications that had been made to his body, the voice clip of Dhalsim mentioning the Satsui no Hado actually comes from his Arcade Ladder Ending after beating Lily.
  • Sagat
    • Jossed
  • Necalli
    • Jossed
  • Kairi
    • Jossed
  • Adon
    • Jossed
  • Cody

Single Player Content (Post-Release) (UNMARKED SPOILERS)

Story and plot elements

Manon is sapphic
  • In Zangief’s arcade mode, Marisa is putting on an event to find a partner. Assuming that’s Marisa’s story in the game, it’s of note that Manon doesn’t turn down her challenge, and their respective endings arguably have romantic subtext.

Bosch is still alive
  • It will eventually be revealed that he just barely managed to survive the blast of the bomb thanks to Psycho Power. It helps that the Avatar didn't check for a pulse when they ran up to his body.

SiRN is a front for SIN
  • The names are literally one letter off. SiRN is a dubious tech company with sketchy connections to JP and the Nayshall incident, who is formerly Shadaloo. SiRN makes drones and smart devices, and with the digital uplifting of Nayshall, all the districts are swarmed with convenience drones and feral smart Refrigerators that attack on sight while still impoverished and in disrepair. SiRN, secretly, makes copy fighters, which copy the abilities of powerful fighters and some of which look suspiciously like both forms of Seth. SiRN is being investigated by Cammy as a potential threat, though she doesn't believe they are directly connected with Shadaloo... Similar to SIN to Shadaloo.

    DLC Content
Year 1 characters' voices
The only characters in the leak that weren't announced for the base roster were Akuma, Ed, Rashid and a newcomer by the name of A.K.I. These characters are now confirmed for Year 1 of the DLC, but who they'll be voiced by is up in the air.

Season 2 Roster

  • Sagat
  • C. Viper and/or Newcomer
  • Menat
  • Makoto

  • The Haggar Stadium that appears prominently in World Tour mode features a line of national flags, including all those of the known roster (including Germany for Ed), as well as the following flags, potentially hinting at as-yet-unseen DLC characters:
    • Thailand (Sagat, Adon)
    • Spain (Vega)
    • Turkey (Hakan)
    • Kenya (Elena)
    • …and Iran (a possible newcomer from a new nation?)

How many DLC characters/seasons will there be?
Place your guesses here.
  • If Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma are any indication, there will be four DLC characters per season.
  • There will be twenty-four DLC characters, four DLC characters per season for six seasons.

Season 1 Veteran Gameplay Changes
The returning fighters in Street Fighter 6 all have some surprising gameplay changes to them (Ryu's Hashogeki is now a Special in his base kit, Guile has a stronger "Perfect" Sonic Boom), but now that we know which veterans are part of Season 1, it makes one wonder what changes will be made to the veteran fighters.
  • Akuma:
    • While he'll have more health as a playable fighter than his previous incarnations, his abilities will now be Cast from Hit Points to uphold the tradition of him being a Glass Cannon.
  • Ed:
    • His Super Smash Bros.-style inputs will be thrown out in favor of more complex inputs, possibly as a sign of his character growth.
      • Confirmed; though modern controls still maintain the simple inputs.
    • His moves will more strongly resemble M. Bison’s to please fans of the latter who was Killed Off for Real.
      • Jossed; he seems to be doing what he's already done in V, but with more added flair.

How the DLC veterans have evolved since SF3
From being framed to disgrace to finding peace in their life post-Shadaloo, a lot of the veterans in Street Fighter 6 have changed quite a bit since the previous entry in-canon, Street Fighter 3. And with the story being as it is it makes one wonder how the only 3 veterans in Season 1 have changed.
  • Rashid: After avenging his friend in Street Fighter 5's story, perhaps Rashid has decided to take his online career to Nayshall.
  • Ed: Ed seems to have situated himself in Germany now, but considering his short lifespan as a clone meant for Bison, one must wonder what he's been up to.
  • Akuma: The only one of the veterans whose changes are the most drastic, Akuma appears to have become a lot more feral. Perhaps he's been struggling to contain the Satsui no Hado and prevent himself from becoming Oni, perhaps giving himself a level of sympathy to Ryu for his struggles prior to SF6.

A.K.I. is an assassin working for Amnesia
Many are guessing that she's related to F.A.N.G in some way, perhaps even being the "Phantom" that he mentored. Given F.A.N.G's role in Shadaloo, it's possible that she was recruited into Amnesia following JP's rise to the top. After all, she wouldn't have the loyalty to Bison that her apparent predecessor did.
  • Jossed; she's actively working against JP in her story, and almost kills him too for intimidation.

The DLC years will be themed around previous games in the series
One noticeable thing about the Year 1 roster is that most of them either debuted in Street Fighter V or take cues from characters that debuted in that game, with Akuma being the only exception. So it's possible that future years could do something similar and have most of the characters in that year be from the same past game, with especially popular characters being an exception. Other games in the Street Fighter Shared Universe could also have their own DLC year, given how none are present in the Year 1 DLC roster despite 5 itself having added some (Abigail, Lucia, Akira), unless of course they fall into the “especially popular” clause. There may also be years devoted to Guest Fighters and brand new characters, possibly one for characters that are already part of the lore being Promoted to Playable and another for completely original ones.

A second story mode will center around the main cast
Given the disappointing reaction to the open-ended ending to World Tour, with J.P. seemingly at large and not much resolved, as well as the lack of focus on the main cast, it’s possible a second story mode more in the vein of A Shadow Falls will be done to satisfy the fans of the characters and resolve the storyline. However, the second story mode will not be released until after at least a few DLC seasons have been released, to incorporate more characters into it, whereas A Shadow Falls didn’t incorporate the DLC characters.

A.K.I. is a replacement for Juri
In SF 4, Juri was a complete psychopath who relished in killing. In 5, she became more of an anti-hero, helping the heroes to get revenge on Bison and for her own twisted amusement. With Bison dead in 6, she's now fallen into a bit of a slump with nothing left to aspire to now that she wasn't able to achieve her one goal. Even characters in-universe point out that she's either sad or she's lost her edge. So in the same vein as Carnage exists for Venom, A.K.I. was created to preserve Juri's original design as a murderous psychopath. Should the two ever interact, Juri's reaction to A.K.I. will probably be a case of Even Evil Has Standards, as A.K.I. is shown to be willing to cross the few lines that Juri won't.

Any serious blows to Amnesia will be dealt in spin-offs or otherwise outside of playable parts of the narrative
A lot of the characterization and narrative surrounding JP really emphasizes how ineffective physically engaging him is. He has an aversion to combat as show in his character guide and ending, neither his plan or goals involve combat or physical power, neither of the characters with him as a final boss were able to conclusively defeat him in their endings, and World Tour makes it clear that your avatar defeating him had no effect on his goals. So it can be concluded that his ambitions will probably be stopped by other means.
