Friday Night Funkin': Classified is a mod for Friday Night Funkin' starring several Super Mario Bros. fanworks, with a primary focus being on the urban legends of Super Mario 64. The mod can be downloaded here.

Not to be confused for Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED, which this mod has no connection to.

    Story Mode
  • Watery Grave (L Is Real Luigi)
  • Funhouse (Wario Apparition)
  • Your Copy (Personalised Mario)
    Free Play

This mod contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Art Shift: The last 2 minutes of "Your Copy" shifts the characters into 3D models reminiscent of Super Mario 64.
  • Bathos: Gilbert is based on a meme image of Mario shrouded in darkness, has a humorously average name, and uses various stock images as hands. Despite this, instead of being a Joke Character like Speedrunner Mario, he's played very seriously as an unsettling figure with an ominous song to match.
  • British Teeth: C-N64 has a set of yellow teeth that only show in his singing poses. Hence, he is also called "British Mario" despite (presumably) being Italian.
  • Chase Scene: "Funhouse" takes place as the Wario Apparition is chasing down Boyfriend through the castle halls.
  • Composite Character: Luigi is a combination of the L Is Real myth and Beta Luigi from Luigi's Mansion, which becomes evident in the second part of the song in which he holds a flower much like a piece of artwork featuring Beta Luigi.
  • Content Warning: Upon accessing "Scuttlebug", the game will warn the player about it potentially triggering epilepsy in some players, due to flashing colors seen throughout the song, and to turn off shaders in the settings if a player is sensitive.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: "Shrouded" is shot entirely in black and white, specifically in a high-contrast style that doesn't include any grays.
  • Denser and Wackier: Compared to the other darker-themed fanworks featured throughout this mod, Speedrunner Mario stands out from the rest, being a goofier-looking and more chaotic character hailing from a web animation.
  • Face Framed in Shadow: Gilbert, just like the meme he's based on, spends the whole song partially hidden in the shadowy background.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Personalized Mario looks right at the screen when he delivers a very slow (and very creepy) version of Mario's Game Over Line from Super Mario 64 "Game O ver" It could mean as he is looking straight at the player, it could mean our game is over.
  • Game-Over Man: Losing against M has him say one of a few lines before crashing the game.
  • Interface Screw: M has this in spades, glitching the screen immensely during "Better Off" whenever it has its turns in the song and applying a shader that causes everything else on your computer to melt the whole time.
  • The Many Deaths of You: Boyfriend suffers quite a lot of these if losing to the many horrors (and not-horrors) seen throughout the mod.
    • Losing in "Watery Grave" has him suffer the classic blueballs sequence.
    • Dying in "Funhouse" causes Boyfriend to go limp and be lifted into the air with his eyes and mouth glowing.
    • Defeat in "Your Copy" causes a Game Over screen to appear with Boyfriend looking soulless.
    • Failing in "Shrouded" doesn't even reveal what happens to Boyfriend, simply showing a lone door in the middle of the darkness.
    • Getting beaten during "Scuttlebug" has Boyfriend react in surprise before blowing up in classic Terminal Montage fashion.
    • Getting taken down in "Better Off" will cause the game to crash and M to taunt the player with their failure.
  • Marathon Level: "Your Copy" is nearly 6 minutes long, befitting the encounter with the mod's primary antagonist.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The starting menu imitates that of Super Mario 64 very closely, from Mario's floating head on the title screen to the main menu looking like 64's file select.
    • Speedrunner Mario's losing icon is one of the many stock explosion images Terminal Montage uses in his animations. Should Boyfriend lose, he goes out with a bang in the same way.
    • It takes around 30 seconds for "Better Off" to properly start and for M to appear; the exact time limit imposed on the player during the climax of SM64.z64.
    • Trying to play "Better Off" will crash the game, but pausing and unpausing over and over again until the song begins will bypass this, a reference to pause buffering from Super Mario 64.
    • The intro section of "Better Off" includes a clip of the jingle that plays when starting a race with Koopa the Quick in Super Mario 64, which also plays in the original ROM hack before the 30 second timer appears.
  • Original Generation: C-N64 (aka Personalized Mario) is a design wholly original to the mod, though his character is based on the "Every Mario 64 Copy is Personalized" rumor.
