Recap / Chucky S 2 E 8 Chucky Actually

Go To

Jake, Devon, and Lexy try to readjust after the events back at Incarnate Lord. However, Chucky is back and bent on getting his revenge on them.

The episode provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Chucky mentions wanting to track down Glen and Glenda and "punish" them for turning on him.
  • Asshole Victim: Dr. Mixter is revealed to have died in Chucky's Good Guy doll body after he switched bodies with her in the previous episode.
  • Bait-and-Switch: At the group therapy, Lexy talks about how her addiction started because of a monster in her life. Jake panics for he's thinking she'll talk about Chucky, but then she reveals that she actually means her mother.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Tiffany sneaks into Glen's hospital room by dressing up as a doctor. The cop keeping watch isn't fooled, though everyone else seems to be.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The trio manages to defeat Chucky once again, but Lexy's mother is now dead, leaving her orphaned as well, and Caroline has been so manipulated by Chucky that she willingly leaves with Tiffany, believing her to be her real mother. The trio, however, find a new ally in Miss Fairchild, while Nica has been stalking Tiffany, biding her time to get revenge. Tiffany, meanwhile, is finally cornered by Chucky, who's revealed to have disguised himself as Caroline's Wedding Belle doll, and ready to exact his own revenge on her.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Miss Fairchild returns for the first time since last season.
    • Glen and Glenda once again cohabit their possessed doll from Seed of Chucky, complete with their Billy Boyd voice.
  • Chainsaw Good: Chucky buys a chainsaw marketed as the quietest ever made and puts it to use on Michelle before Lexy turns it on him.
  • Chimney Entry: Chucky enters Lexy's house this way.
  • Christmas Episode: The first Christmas special for the series. Naturally, things get horrific with Chucky involved.
  • Cliffhanger: The season ends on this as Caroline's Wedding Belle doll is revealed to be actually be Chucky in disguise, has Tiffany cornered and strikes, leaving her fate ambiguous.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Dr. Mixter had a backup Good Guy doll hidden in a secret wall safe in her office and disguised another one as the Wedding Belle doll given to Caroline, all just in case anything happened to the others.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Michelle gets graphically sawed in half head down by Chucky with a chainsaw.
  • Disguised in Drag: The Wedding Belle doll Tiffany tries to transfer herself into turns out to be Chucky, also wearing green contact lenses and downplayed Latex Perfection.
  • Enfant Terrible: Caroline turns out to have been on Chucky's side all along.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Tiffany is appalled when Chucky kills Michelle, and is very upset he would kill a mother on Christmas Eve.
  • Framing the Guilty Party: Tiffany, though guilty of several murders herself, isn't responsible for Michelle's death, but the trio tell the police she's the culprit (or rather, Jennifer Tilly) because they know that will be better accepted than Chucky doing it.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Lexy's mother gets sawed in half vertically.
  • If I Had a Nickel...: Chucky's response when Tiffany points out that he's supposed to be dead.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Lexy's mother finally gets hers after false signs of biting it the previous season, although sadly just after she's made amends with her older daughter.
  • Karmic Death: After having spent decades mentoring Chucky, Dr. Mixter is forced to switch bodies with him, and dies as an unwitting decoy.
  • Meaningful Rename: After Glen and Glenda are merged back into their doll body, they decide to go by the name "GG".
  • My Life Flashed Before My Eyes: As shown in the previous episode, Kyle asks if Chucky's life is flashing before his eyes after they kill him. Here, it's shown that this is the case, but the one dying is actually Dr. Mixter, who is seeing the time she spent with Chucky throughout his childhood and how she helped him carry out his plan in the previous season.
  • Mythology Gag: The code for the safe in Dr. Mixter's office is 110988, the date that Charles Lee Ray was killed and also the day the first Child's Play was released.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Tiffany has this reaction when she realizes that Chucky is still alive.
    • She also has one when she realizes that Nica is stalking her.
  • Psychotic Smirk: After being imprisoned by Tiffany for so long, Nica spouts a crazed smile while stalking Tiffany.
  • Redemption Equals Death: During Christmas dinner, Michelle and Lexy are finally honest with one another. Michelle admits that she's made mistakes in raising Lexy, and is proud of her for overcoming addiction and how much she's grown. Only for Michelle to get killed by Chucky a few scenes later.
  • The Reveal:
    • Chucky swapped places with Dr. Mixter last episode while everyone was distracted by Sister Ruth.
    • The doll that Dr. Mixter gave Caroline to help with her trauma was actually a Good Guy disguised as a Belle, which Chucky uses to return yet again.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title of the episode is a nod to the Christmas Rom-Com Love Actually.
    • Chucky having his own credit card may be one to Batman & Robin.
  • Spoiler Title: The title "Chucky Actually" indicates the Cruel Twist Ending of Chucky being the Wedding Belle doll Tiffany tried to transfer her soul into in order to be a Karma Houdini.
  • Tragic Keepsake: It is shown that Lexy sleeps with Nadine's stuffed panda.
  • The Twelve Spoofs of Christmas: The episode ends with Chucky singing about his kills during the season.
  • Under the Mistletoe: Shortly after making up, Jake and Devon notice a mistletoe hanging above them and start kissing.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Tiffany goes through the wringer in this episode: not only is she the primary suspect for a murder and being hunted by police, but she gets stabbed by Devon and Jake. Cornered, all Tiffany can muster is little nos as she begs for her life. But the biggest one is when she gets a call from Nica who is still intent on enacting her revenge on her, and when she tries to transfer her soul into the female doll, she realizes, to her horror, that it was Chucky in disguise who is ready to enact his revenge on her for her betrayal.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Lexy's mother is killed and Caroline willfully leaves with Tiffany.
    • Chucky survived the events of the last episode by switching places with Dr. Mixter.
    • Glen and Glenda repossess their doll body.
    • Chucky was secretly the doll that Dr. Mixter prescribed to Caroline.
  • Wham Line: When Miss Fairchild returns, the trio decide to ask her for help, and unlike every other adult in the series, she believes them.
Jake: Miss F, do you remember Chucky?
    Miss Fairchild:...I knew it.
