Rise of the New Champions

The four central races of Hyrule combat the forces of the Yiga Clan's ambush, and the New Champions fight alongside their people to fight the Yiga.

Tropes:

  • Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene: In the Rito segment of the chapter, there's a longer quiet conversation between many of the Rito women about what's going on and how monsters aren't as bad as they Yiga, citing the White-Maned Lynel in Tabantha Snowfield as an example.
  • Back from the Dead: The Yiga prevent the Igneo Talus Titan's death at Yunobo's hands by using a spell to fix its broken ore deposit.
  • Big Damnheroes: The Champions each use their Divine Beast to save their settlements from a massive powerful attack.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • The Rito's fight with the Yiga is very one-sided with the Rito emerging victorious relatively smoothly and without any real struggle.
    • The Goron's fight with the Yiga is just as one-sided, because once the Yiga lose the element of surprise, they're no match for the Gorons' natural strength and durability.
  • Designated Girl Fight: Kolana leads the charge against the Gerudo, and is also revealed to have fought and killed Riju's mother.
  • Do Not Touch the Funnel Cloud: The Blademasters in Gerudo Desert foolishly end up creating a large dust devil that sucks them and other Gerudo up, but it's implied these were the ones closest to the funnel cloud.
  • Killed Mid-Sentence: Saki kills a Footsoldier with a bomb arrow just before he could finish asking a question.
  • Four Lines, All Waiting: This chapter is divided into four sections, each one detailing Zora's Domain, Gerudo Town, Rito Village, and Goron City combatting the Yiga Clan. Each one is done all at once and then jumps to the next settlement.
  • Front Line General: King Dorephan and the royal family's older members, Chief Riju, and Boss Bludo all lead their people into the battle against the Yiga.
  • It's Personal: Riju personally fights Kolana because the latter killed Riju's mother.
  • The Reveal: There's one about Riju's history. Her mother was killed by Kolana of the Yiga Clan.
  • So Proud of You: Kolana says as much to Riju, who doesn't appreciate the sentiment.
  • Strictly Formula: The chapter is divided into four, each one depicting a different settlement. Regardless, each segment follows the same pattern: the settlement fights the Yiga, they win, then the Yiga Summon Bigger Fish, only for the Divine Beast watching over them to come to the rescue.
  • Summon Bigger Fish: All of the fighting done here is mostly the Yiga stalling their does while they summon a bigger more dangerous threat.
  • Villain Respect: Kolana has nothing but respect for the Gerudo and their abilities, and personally respects Riju's ability in combat. It's not reciprocated, but Kolana nonetheless has a high opinion of the Gerudo either way.
  • You Killed My Mother: Riju has a personal vendetta against Kolana for killing her mother.
