Basic Trope: A top-secret workplace is introduced by having a character explore it unnoticed.

  • Straight: The Four-Man Band, consisting of Harry Oswalt, Pete Perkins, Eddie Roque, and Flash Young, manages to enter the secret labs of Oswalt Enterprises without being seen.
  • Exaggerated:
  • Downplayed:
    • Only one of them explores the secret labs.
    • The Four-Man Band only manages to enter a few rooms of one of the secret labs, and nothing more.
  • Justified:
    • Harry managed to find a secret entrance. It's just up to everyone else (especially Flash) to not go through the facility With Catlike Tread.
    • Norbert, Harry's father, allowed Harry and the gang to waltz around his labs. He just didn't tell everyone working there about this.
    • It was supposed to be a guided lab tour, but for whatever reason the guides are missing. So the rest were just told to mess around wherever and however they like.
  • Inverted: The Four-Man Band get caught in the offices of Oswalt Enterprises; A very decisively un-secret workplace that has the characters get caught in it.
  • Subverted: The Four-Man Band go around the secret labs. Cue the Conveniently Timed Guard.
  • Double Subverted: Who Flash proceeds to knock out before said guard can even let a noise out, let alone raise the alarms.
  • Parodied: Harry and the Gang go through the facility With Catlike Tread. They still aren't noticed by anybody, even when Flash bellows at the others to hurry up, Flash, Clay, and Max (who are 6'8", 6'3", and 6'5" respectively) bolt down the hallway in full view of everyone in the lab (Clearly those gigantic, hulking bruisers sprinting down the secret labs at top speed are just some hallucinations and not a sign of a comedically catastrophic breach of security), and Alicia chews her gum a bit too loudly. Bonus points if the last part is the one that gets them caught.
  • Averted:
  • Invoked:
    • Harry decides to start snooping around, just for the fun of it. He brings the three others along for the ride.
    • Norbert, Harry's father, secretly allows him and his three (or more) friends to sneak around in the labs for anything they'd like to see.
  • Exploited: Pete takes pictures of whatever incriminating evidence that Oswalt Enterprises keeps hidden in order to submit them to his boss, John Joshua Johnson. Bonus points if Norbert finds out about these pictures and sues John, which in turn makes it a Revealing Cover Up.
  • Defied:
    • The Four-Man Band is closely monitored. There are at least 5 tracking devices on each of them, and 500 more on Flash.
    • Oswalt Enterprises keeps its security extra tight, with at least fifty guards and fifty cameras per room.
  • Zig-Zagged: Harry and the Gang are in Oswalt Enterprises, but they're going around the rooms, from the offices, to the secret labs, with varying success at stealth; Either being caught, or getting away unnoticed.
  • Enforced: A variety of reasons; Mostly as an introduction to the work's favored brand of Applied Phlebotinum.
  • Lampshaded: Pete muses, "How has nobody ever caught us by now? We've been through like, what, 50 of these secret labs already? Man, The Guards Must Be Crazy!"
  • Discussed: One of the guards has just found out that there were people coming in here unnoticed. He chats it up with his coworkers, remarking that they seriously need to upgrade security if there's at least four fellows coming in and out of the lab. And yet they don't even do much about it!
  • Conversed: Alice and Bob, the audience, are wondering if their security is that bad that four misfits can sneak in and out of the place.
  • Played for Drama: Harry and the Gang are exposed to the work's favored brand of Applied Phlebotinum. They now have to deal with having been infected with strange, horrific symptoms, and the cool powers that come with it are not enough to balance just how painful living had just become. Harry has to deal with his mind going completely haywire, Pete often feels like his skin's going to come off, Eddie's constantly puking Black Blood, Flash is pretty much in a perpetual electric chair, Gwynn feels like everything from her neck down is completely numb, Clay has a killer headache and feels like a horn's growing out of his forehead, Maximilian often goes crazy and claws at his own neck and shoulders as if something's been attached to his collarbone, Adelita is slowly growing a Split Personality between her usual self and someone named "Superior Superia", and Alicia's perception of time has been drastically slowed to the point where she has Super-Reflexes.

Damn it! How the hell are they constantly having an Unguided Lab Tour around here!? This page has such Swiss-Cheese Security that even a 10 foot block of granite can come in without being noticed!
