Glorb is an anonymous musician that initally gained memetic fame in late 2023 for creating drill rap featuring SpongeBob SquarePants characters to YouTube. They create their videos by first singing them themselves, then using artificial intelligence to replace their voice with Spongebob, Mr. Krabs, etc.

While at first the songs were mostly standalone with simple visuals that only showed the lyrics, eventually a small story began to be told depicting the rivalry between the Krusty Krab Krew and Dankton, eventually escalating. The videos also began to have 3D visuals to aid with storytelling.

See also AI Sponge, another project using AI-generated SpongeBob voices and has occasionally featured some of Glorb's music.

This musician and their songs provide examples of:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Heavily downplayed, as it would be a stretch at best to call anybody "nice", but Squidward is on good terms with Spongebob compared to the TV show.
  • Adaptational Villainy: With the exception of Larry, the characters are all re-hauled into violent gang criminals which engage in illicit drug trading.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In "KFC", Plankton kidnaps Patrick and mind controls him into working for him using a bucket helmet.
  • Big Damn Heroes: "The Bottom 2" starts with Spongeopp coming back from his funk, riding the Alaskan Bull Worm and taking down Karen. Opp then snatches up Gary and injects him with the formula, giving Gary a bulk-up and allowing him to distract Karen while the rest of the Krusty Krew take care of Danktons cronies.
  • Came Back Strong: Karen gets killed by the Krusty Krew in a drive-by, but Plankton later brings her back as a Humongous Mecha with a gun attached to her right hand.
  • Darkest Hour: "Vengeance" - after the Krusty Krab Krew killed Karen in a drive-by in the beginning of "Eugene" and threw this fact into Plankton's face repeatedly, Plankton strikes back hard. He revives her, turned her into a gigantic mecha, and have her go on a massacre across Bikini Bottom, both literally and lyrically. This leads to Spongebob getting shot, Mr. Krabs resorting to hiding in underground bunkers, and Sandy straight-up leaving Spongebob. Fittingly, the following song is the emotional "Can Gangsters Cry?".
  • Drowning My Sorrows:
    • Implied in "sadkini"; Plankton has a slight slur to his voice, suggesting that he's been drinking to cope with the grief caused by Karen's death.
    • SpongeBob also partakes in "Can Gangsters Cry?" at the Salty Spittoon after Sandy leaves him.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The first few videos were accompanied by simple visuals before Glorb began incorporating animations.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Adaptational Villainy doesn't mean the characters are souless.
    • Plankton's love for Karen is at the forefront here, and he lays it unto the audience in "Sadkini". Furthermore, his first reaction to upgrading her in "Vengeance" is excitement at his wife being back. He's quite open about having grieved for her, though, and even at his most powerful he takes a moment to insult those who dissed him for crying.
    • Spongebob is a ruthless gangster, but he does genuinely love Sandy, as shown in "Can Gangsters Cry?". He even breaks his rule on only doing "real shit" to open up his heart to her.
    • Minor example, but when Squidward (easily the most ruthless of the "Krusty Krab Krew") sees Spongebob getting shot, he loses his shit and yells for an ambulance.
  • Evil vs. Evil: An overarching plot is of the Krusty Krab Krew having a gang war with the Chum Bucket
  • Exact Words: In "Eugene", Spongebob claims that he only does "real shit", not "sad rap". After Sandy leaves him, he does create an emotional song - but it's country, not rap.
  • Fanservice Pack: Despite looking the same as she does in the show when appearing in the background of "MHMM", at the end of "MOB TIES" Mrs Puff has a completely new character model that makes where she is completely slimmed down and given an exagerated, hourglass build.
  • He's Back!: Dankton goes through a rough patch after "The Bottom 2": the Chum Buckets obliterated, Karens dead again, and he's lost everything... but come "MOB TIES", he's gotten back up on his feet, finding a new place of work in the Clams Casino, a new ally in the form of The PUFF, and managed to rebuild Karen again in the form of a supercomputer.
  • Humongous Mecha: At the beginning of "VENGEANCE", Plankton brings Karen back to life as one of these, leading to her going on a rampage across Bikini Bottom.
  • Kick the Dog: The Krusty Krew respond to Danktons diss track very violently; first, they shoot up the Chum Bucket, kill Karen, and then make two seperate disses, one directed at Danktons eulogy and the other really rubbing the salt in the wound by sampling the news report.
  • Mob War: The Krusty Krab-Chum Bucket rivalry is recharacterized as a gang war, complete with drive-by shootings.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: The use of the Spongebob voice-changing AI usually masks Glorb's English accent quite well, but it's bleeding into the track everywhere on "White Christmas" and "Mob Ties".
  • Out-of-Genre Experience: "Can Gangsters Cry?" is a country song, while most of Glorb's other songs are rap.
  • Putting the Band Back Together: Karen's rampage in "Vengeance" is shown to have forced the individual members of the Krusty Krew into hiding and Sandy breaks up with Spongebob due to the stress of the gang war. "The Bottom 2", however, shows them fighting off Dankton's forces in separate locations before joining back up to take him down as a team.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Spongebob is a hardened gangster who took pleasure in murdering Karen, but also called himself a "goofy goober who still fucks". Karen however thinks he's this just because he's "grown man practicing kung-fu".
  • Ruder and Cruder: While the original show is known for its adult-oriented humor, most of the content is family-friendly. These songs, however, have the characters curse like sailors and talk about sex a lot.
  • Signature Style: The various characters all have their own personal MC-ing styles that tie into various scenes in hip-hop as well as their personalities.
    • Spongebob has a more melodious sing-rapping style popular in modern trap, along with Mr. Krabs, though the latter has more Large Ham tendencies. As such, they most often deliver the hooks on songs featuring the Krusty Krab Krew.
    • Patrick has a simplistic and repetitive style, befitting his characterization as the dumbest character in the show.
    • Sandy has an obvious undercurrent of Southern Hip Hop influence in her heavy use of triplet flows.
    • Larry has a theatrical sing-songy style similar to Rage artists such as JELEEL and Mario Judah.
    • Plankton and Karen make extensive use of pop culture and "nerd" culture references along with denser similes and wordplay.
    • Squidward has a rapid-fire style with a notable Grime influence, likely being the most complex in his use of wordplay and rhyme schemes tied with Plankton and Karen.
  • Showing Up Chauvinists: In "MHMM", Sandy mentions wanting to disprove the idea that women can't rap.
They said the girlies couldn't rap
Hit the kitchen, leave 'em be
I hit 'em up like Crips and Bloods
The way I'm tryina C 'em Bleed
  • Slut-Shaming: Karen derides Sandy as a "nut slut" and a "hoe" in "VENGEANCE".
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Spongebob getting shot at the end of "Vengeance" isn't treated as a comical injury, which carries over in the next video "Can Gangsters Cry?", where he's hospitalized and Sandy ends up breaking up with him because she couldn't handle the violence and the way the gang war is escalating.
  • Take That, Audience!: In "VENGEANCE", Plankton insults viewers who complained about "sadkini", calling them "fucking fake fans on some bitch shit".
  • Trademark Favorite Food: You can count on any rap from the Krusty Krab Krew to mention their affinity for leanWhat is lean?, with the color of the lyrics often turning purple to match.
  • Twin Threesome Fantasy: In "KFC", a mind-controlled Patrick brags about taking two twins back to his room and having them "boogaloogaloo", saying he made them "wet as Goo Lagoon".
  • Unholy Matrimony: Plankton and Karen have a strong and loving marriage despite being incredibly evil people; while Plankton apparently had sex with Mr. Krabs' daughter Pearl, Karen says she allowed him to do it.
  • Unusual Euphemism: When implying that he had sex with Karen, SpongeBob says he "stuck [his] charger in her iPhone".
  • You Are Fat: Karen mocks Pearl's weight in "VENGEANCE", saying she'd tell her to hang herself, but she'd probably break the rope trying.
