Main installments:

    Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • In general, [Title] boy/girl (such as "Heir Boy" for Byakuya and "Swimmer Girl" for Aoi) is often used to refer to the characters, as some fans find the character's titles easier to remember than their names.
  • The main characters of all the games can be collectively referred to as "the dangans".
  • People at Something Awful like to call Hifumi "goon", "supergoon", "ultragoon", and so-forth.
  • "Baseball Bro" for Leon Kuwata.
  • "Swimboobs" for Aoi. A combo of her title, and the fact that her boobs are rather... big.
  • "Weedman" for Yasuhiro, due to his "stash" line, his not-quite-locs hairstyle, and his general demeanor.
  • What with the official translation referring to him by his original Japanese name, "Monobear" is this for Monokuma.
  • The game itself has an avalanche of silly nicknames, caused by the strangeness of its own name. It was a popular meme on Tumblr for a time, but has since died down.
  • Due to his actions in Chapter 2, Byakuya is sometimes dubbed "Super High School Level Corpse Mover." When the next chapter's victims disappeared from the crime scenes, he was promptly named as a top suspect (he had nothing to do with it).
  • "Chihirobo" for Alter Ego.
  • Noodle Fairy - Mostly Japanese nickname for Kirigiri for a scene where The Stoic girl has a cup of noodles dumped on her head and she doesn't notice until it is pointed out. In fanart that shows characters "Superpowered Evil Side" this is usually hers.
  • The Masked Man (Junko Enoshima wearing a lab coat and wrestling mask to disguise herself) has gained the nickname Monoluchador.
  • For a while, Mukuro Ikusaba was referred to as Corpse Warblade more often than by her actual name. It's not hard to see why. They also have the nickname "Junkuro" for when she's dressing as Junko.
  • Following Chapter 6's reveal of the world outside the school, the fans promptly called it Monoworld.

    Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
  • The Ultimate Impostor gets numerous:
    • He's commonly known by fans as "Fat Togami" or "Fatgami", due to how... different he looks from the real Byakuya.
    • "Twogami" and "2gami" are also popular, given how he's someone completely different from the actual Byakuya.
    • In that vein, "Fauxgami" is also a common name English speakers use when spoilers aren't considered an issue.
    • In Japan, "Tongami" is another popular nickname for him.
  • Due to his status as a Walking Spoiler, Izuru Kamukura is being affectionately referred to as "Spoiler-kun".
  • Nagito, thanks to his obsession with the concept of hope, is known as "Hopeman".
  • "Monobear" can be considered one too, since his official name is still Monokuma.

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School
  • Yu Narukami for Munakata, due to the somewhat uncanny resemblance. And the fact that he shoots himself in the head in the OP. And wields a katana. On that note, the name "Munakatana" has also been thrown around. Raiden, Punished Munakata, Munakaneki, Nash, Beowulf and Shadow Yu also becsme prevalent after his Darker and Edgier makeover after episode 5.
  • Fans like to call Juzo Sakakura "Ultimate Dickhead" or "Ultimate Asshole" due to his sheer unlikeability. Also a good alternative if one has trouble pronouncing his (sur)name and don't want to use his default Ultimate Boxer. After the fans surprisingly warmed up to him because more unlikable characters started to pile up, his new 'nickname' became "Ultimate Third Wheel" thanks to his relationship with Munakata and Yukizome. His fans also call themselves "Juzoboys" or "Juzobros".
  • On Image Boards, Kizakura earned the moniker "Boozeman" for his drunken appearance. Following the "weed" theme nickname that Hagakure (Weedman) and his mother Hiroko (Weedmom) have, he's also been called "White Weed". After the context of his relationship with Kyouko was outed, fans took to calling him "Fedora Uncle".
  • Like how his Togami identity was nicknamed "Twogami", the Ultimate Impostor's identity as Mitarai has received the nickname of "Nitarai" by fans. Seeing how "Mi" is one of the readings for the kanji of "Three", this fits astonishingly well. In Side: Hope, he momentarily gains Kyosuke's Persona or Izanagi when he briefly impersonates Kyosuke.
  • "Pikachu Girl" for Aiko Umesawa from episode 7 of Side:Despair, because she's wearing a yellow bunny hoodie resembling Pikachu.
  • Ruruka is often referred to as "Candybitch", due to her Ultimate talent and because, well, she's a bitch. The other similarly-themed derisive nickname is "Candy Satan"
  • Since The Reveal, fans have taken to calling the robotic Gekkougahara "Gekkoubot". "Gekkougundam" has also seen use since her Mini-Mecha form was revealed.
  • Mitarai's brainwashing techniques have lead to the nickname (primarily from detractors) as the Despair Anime, in reference to a similarly controversial plot point from Danganronpa Togami.
  • The combined Hajime and Izuru in Side: Hope has been widely referred to as Hajizuru; seeing as he answers to both his original names, differentiating him from his past selves would have ended up confusing otherwise.
  • The increased amount of humor in the dub led to English fans calling it "DR3 Abridged".

    Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony
  • Ki-bo is called "Robo-Naegi", "Mecha-Naegi" and variations thereof (more or less canonised when Word of God confirmed the resemblance). They also liked to call him "Hopebot" pre-name reveal, and were pleasantly surprised to find out they were close with that one.
  • Maki is referred to as "Red Kirigiri" (or occasionally Yukiko).
  • Kaito and Rantaro are considered to be "Purple Komaeda" and "Green Komaeda" respectively due to the very similar designs of their shirts of the former and the character design similarities of the latter.
  • Kaito is also referred to as "Astro Weed", "Space Weed", "Purple Weedman", or similar nicknames thanks to similar looks to Yasuhiro Hagakure.
  • Fans also have referred to Angie as "Alolan Asahina", which even the PR man for Spike Chunsoft refers to her as.
  • Upon learning Oma's talent pre-release, some image boards took to calling him "Mini Hitler". After the players learned about his emphasis on lying in his introduction trailer and the demo, and because of his antagonistic nature in the game proper, Oma usurped the title of "Purple Komaeda".
  • Oma has also been called "SHSL Memelord", as fans find him a Fountain of Memes. In addition, he has also been called the Ultimate Troll.
  • Miu gets called "Bondage Junko" due to a combination of her looks resembling the fashionista and her portrait invoking several bondage staples (leather straps, a burning wax candle, and the fact that fans mistook the match in one of her mechanical arms' hands for a sounding rod).
  • Due to Ryoma's Vocal Dissonance, several fans have started calling him "Reverse Bandai".
  • Himiko is referred to as "Himouto," both because she has the same voice actress as Umaru Doma and because she's become a very beloved character who many fans want to survive.
  • After Ki-bo's death/sacrifice, he was often called Robojesus.
  • Fans also called the characters as "(Anything related to the character's talent) Daughters/Sons", such as "Piano Daughter" for Kaede, "Panta Son" for Kokichi, and "Robot Son" for Ki-bo.
  • The first trial quickly popularized "Kaedead" as one for Kaede, who turned out to be a Decoy Protagonist and brutally killed as the first culprit.
  • Due to what happens in Chapter 3, Korekiyo has been referred to as "Tulpaman" on western image forums.
    • In the Japanese fandom, Korekiyo is often called "Salt" (塩) because of his love for it, the role it played in the murder method, and the fact it's used to banish his spirit from the living world during his execution.
    • Many fans started to call Korekiyo the Folklore Cunt thanks to Vidya's Abridged Series of this game.
  • Unrelated to spoilers, the joke Punny Name of "Shingucci" can be common, possibly helped by how Hagakure nicknamed him the similarly pronounced "Shigu-cchi" in the bonus mode. Kork is also a popular nickname.
  • Due to being an (intentional) Out of Focus Flat Character, many have taken to calling Tsumugi "Wallpaper-chan". Other nicknames for her include "Smoogi" and "Moogi".
  • /vg/ tended to call Rantaro "Zeus" or "Zeussu" because of his Verbal Tic and because of his perceived predatory nature due to his prettyboy looks and his odd character art.
  • The western fanbase tends to refer to Korekiyo's unnamed sister as Miyadera, the kun'yomi reading of the latter half of the sibling's last name. It is also has to do with the fake spoilers listing Miyadera as her name.
  • Japanese fans have nicknamed the former Shuichi from the audition video "Inchara" or "Kagehara" when speculating the contradictions between the prologue and the final chapter of the game.
  • Due to the infamous localization name change, some fans started to call Ki-bo "K one B zero".
  • "Kayayday"note  and "Succi" for Kaede and Shuichi respectively thanks to Memetic Mutation.
  • The post-game Dating Sim bonus mode Love Across the Universe: Dangan Salmon Team is often called "Space Mode," "Prison Mode," or "Shipping Mode" to be in line with School Mode and Island Mode in the previous two games.
