    Protagonists 

Sergeant Ben "Mitch" Mitchell

  • Authority Equals Asskicking: A SO19 operator with the rank of Sergeant, he's a reliable officer who does his job in leading the team against armed criminals.
  • Badges and Dog Tags: Prior to working with the MP, he used to be in the British Army.
  • Elites Are More Glamorous: With the Metropolitan Police's SO19 unit.
  • Police Brutality: Will strike any already arrested suspects in the head as part of his arrest animation, kicks Levi's chair out froom under him in interrogation, grabs Tyler by the throat and threatens to kill him to get information out of him and threatens the player with torture in the Interactive Advert.
  • The Quiet One: As Jackie puts it, he's a quiet and moody action man. His silence unnerve his colleagues, particularly Evans.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: While never elaborated on, he clearly has some form of Trauma from either the Military and/or killing the Youth in the intro, being quick to anger, violent and nearly shooting a civilian at one point, to the point of being called "Psycho" by other members of SO19.
  • Trading Bars for Stripes: Was a juvenile growing up and he was given a choice to either join the military and reform himself or head straight to juvie hall.

Eddie O'Connor

  • Cop Killer: He can kill the police officers in the game. In the bad endings, he'll be forced to kill Mitch.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In two of the endings, Eddie is forced to shoot and kill Ben Mitchell. After he dies, Eddie briefly looks at his body with remorse.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Eddie stops at nothing to find and kill the man who murdered Danny.

Sam Thompson

  • All There in the Manual: According to some of the information released by Sony, it's mentioned that her full name is Samantha Thompson. Sam is merely her nickname.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Her mom is from Poland.
  • Kill the Cutie: If you get the bad ending, Skobel will toss her from a high vantage in the pump house..
  • Non-Action Guy: Sam, who has no combat abilities whatsoever and is entirely dependent on stealth.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Eddie assumed that Sam is a guy's namenote  It's only when she first shows up in Eddie's arc that the latter is shocked about it.
    Eddie: Who the fuck is that? (Eddie turns around to see a girl on the ceiling catwalk)
    Danny: That, boys, is Sam.
    Eddie: What the fuck is this? Fucking Evil Knievel girl?
    Danny: Oi. Watch your mouth. There's a lady present.
    Eddie: What fucin' lady? That's a girl.

    Metropolitan Police SO 19 

Police Constable Paul Evans

  • Fire-Forged Friends: With Mitch. At first, Evans strongly dislikes Mitch for having previously shot a kid in the back. As such, Evans goes out his way to insult and berate Mitch unlike Munroe's death. After this, Evans begins to respect Mitch and work well together during the climax
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Evans is cocky, rude and can be a bully towards Mitch. However, he is a cop and on the right side of the law. Furthermore, Evans comforts Mitch after Munroe's death and begins to respect Mitch as his superior officer.

PC Jack Harvey

  • Nice Guy: Is friendly, chatty and initially the only officer on the team not to have a problem working with Mitch.

  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite his misgivings with Mitch due to his conduct in the field, he's willing to allow Mitch to take the lead in a case that links to the TIL.

Viktor Skobel

  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: Unlike Charlie Jolson, he's a foreign gangster with a legitimate front and no grand masterplan besides getting his idol back.
  • Corrupt Politician: Formerly a Soviet politician from Estonia who left after the USSR began to collapse.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Sort of. An offscreen one. While he does not physically appear in The Getaway, he is referred to by Eyebrows as the "Russian Geezer" who sold weapons to the Bethnal Green Mob in 2002.
  • Mother Russia Makes You Strong: Is the most difficult boss to defeat in game. Takes a lot of bullets before finally going down.
  • Tattooed Crook: He has a tattoo resembling a compass rose on his left hand between his thumb and index finger that he got in prison.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: A known businessman who created the Skobel Corporate Group.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He wants Jackie dead for her info could expose him as the TIL leader. And he kills Sam in the bad ending.

Nadya Prushnatovoa

  • The Dragon: Serves as the second-in-command and puts a good fight when Eddie fights her in a gun battle. However...
  • Former Regime Personnel: She was recruited after her discharge from the Soviet miltiary.
  • From Camouflage to Criminal: She was recruited after she served time with the Soviet military.
  • The Quiet One: She's quiet and speaks very few lines. In fact, most of her few dialogue is in Russian.

Yuri Gorsoy

  • Giant Mook: He was a former wrestler back in his home country of Estonia and is described by Jackie Philips as "wall to wall muscle".
  • Silent Antagonist: He's a very quiet man, never speaking once.

Alexei

  • Co-Dragons: Like Nadya, he reports directly to Viktor.
  • The Dreaded: He's feared by law enforcement and in the underworld as "The Dentist" for using horrific methods to make his victims talk.
  • Evil Genius: Jackie describes him as warped and perverted, yet also a genius and a top strategy man.
  • Torture Technician: His job is to beat and interrogate anyone who tries to cross with the TIL.

  • JerkAss: Is abusive to the police once he is arrested.
