The characters of Boku wa Ookami.

Rina Kuromoto

A fifteen-year-old student who believes all men are wolves.

  • All Women Are Prudes: She says it's gross for a girl to even think about sex. Her classmates disagree, however.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In chapter 9, a man hypnotizes her to feel "liberated". She spends a good deal of time trapped in her own body in an And I Must Scream style, watching herself repeatedly glomp Ookami in public and generally act very unlike her usual self.

  • Celibate Hero
  • Courtly Love: Her ideal "prince" is someone whose love does not include carnal expressions.
  • Does Not Like Men: Or, at least, Does Not Like Perverted Men, and she thinks All Men Are Perverts.
  • He Is Not My Boyfriend: While she initially thinks to herself that Ookami is her destined prince, when others ask if she likes him, she tells them no, she's just trying to teach him to be a normal human.
  • If It's You, It's Okay: She refuses to tolerate guys who act perverted at all, but Ookami gets a pass due to being Raised by Wolves (and the fact that she likes him).
  • Love at First Sight: With Ookami. She's interested when he claims he doesn't know what porn is, but is absolutely taken once she gets a good look at his face.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: She hits any guy who she feels is getting too fresh with her...except Ookami, since he really doesn't know any better (though she does have to exercise some self-control to keep from immediately slapping him out of sheer instinct).

  • Post-Kiss Catatonia: On her birthday, Ookami presents her with a bouquet of wildflowers and asks if it's okay to kiss her. She says yes, but then immediately faints afterward.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She wants a "passive" man, one who doesn't just want to get into a girl's panties.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Due to no official translation being given, her last name has been spelled by translators as Kuromoto, Kuramoto, and Kuchimoto.
  • Through His Stomach: She eventually decides to start making bento for Ookami. Sajiang thinks she's ridiculous and would be better off trying to Lie Back and Think of England.
  • Tsundere: Type B. While normally sweet, she does not react well to men being perverted around her.

Keita Tachiyama

Rina's childhood friend.

  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: In the chapter 14 omake, he asks the reader if he's the only one who's miserable in the manga since Jin and Rina started dating and he seems exactly her type.
  • Childhood Friends
    • Unlucky Childhood Friend: He asks her out in the first chapter, but she turns him down. He later challenges Ookami to a basketball game to "win" Rina and wins, but she chooses Ookami over him anyway.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: While he defends Rina from the more aggressive boys in their class, he's secretly trying to peek at her panties as well.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: Has shades of this deep down, genuinely caring for Rina under his flirty exterior.
  • Forceful Kiss: At the end of chapter 13, he gives Rina a preemptive apology and then springs a kiss on her. While she says it was against her will, she was a little too stunned to actually fight back at the moment, making Jin think maybe she'd be better with Keita after all.
  • I'm a Man; I Can't Help It: Said nearly word-for-word in chapter 7.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: In chapter 12, he turns down Nishiko's offer for a date because he still likes Rina, but also says that he knows they can't be together because she has Ookami and he's got to give her up.
  • Nose Bleed: After he gives Rina a Forceful Kiss, just thinking about the event causes his nose to bleed. He also ends up with one on a couple of the occasions that she hits him for being a pervert.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Is occasionally translated as Tateyama instead of Tachiyama.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Admits that he became a little obsessed with Rina in chapter 13, and is occasionally seen in the background of the scene when she's with Ookami.

Jin Ookami

A new student in Rina's class who was Raised by Wolves and thus has little to no idea of basic human interactions.

  • Above the Influence: Once he understands what a pervert is and why it upsets Rina, he promises to never be a pervert. This includes when she's Brainwashed and Crazy for him, and he goes so far as to attack his father when he realizes he's the one who hypnotized her.
  • Accidental Pervert: Constantly, due to not knowing what is and isn't perverted, or knowing why he shouldn't do something that seems natural for a wolf.
  • All Hiragana
  • Big Eater: He finishes an entire bucket of KFC by himself and his stomach is still growling at him.
  • Blinding Bangs: When first introduced. Lampshaded by Rina, who asks how he can see and offers him some hair wax.
  • Cassandra Truth: He says his favorite prey is rabbits, but Rina thinks he's a big joker and is just being funny. Nobody actually eats rabbits, right?
  • Chaste Hero: On his first day, some of the other students decide to tease him and say he dropped his porn. His reaction is, "What's that?"
  • Cute Little Fangs
  • Fish out of Water: He has no clue why you shouldn't sniff another person's bum as a friendly hello.
  • First Girl Wins: Rina even Lampshades it in chapter 9, pointing out that it's likely that he likes her simply because she was the first person to be nice to him, and if it were someone else, he'd likely be with her instead.
  • Handshake Substitute: Rina offers a handshake, so he takes her hand, sniffs it, and then proceeds to sniff her hair and the rest of her so he can remember her scent.
  • He Cleans Up Nicely: Rina is surprised at how cute he is when she finally gets his hair out of his face.
  • Homeschooled Kids: He was privately tutored before, so this is his first time in school and he's more than a little awkward.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: In chapter 14, he spots Keita kissing Rina (though it was against her will) and, imagining that she'd rather have a normal boy over one who acts like a wolf, tells her that it's okay if she leaves him for Keita, since he even originally lost the contest to win her anyway.
  • Le Parkour: He's quite capable of running down walls and Roof Hopping while carrying another person.
  • Malaproper
  • Man Bites Man: When he gets in a Lover Tug-of-War over Rina with Keita, Jin bites him to make him let go of Rina.
  • My Eyes Are Leaking: When he's first captured by humans and taken away from his wolf father, he's scared and a little shocked by the fact that there's something wet coming out of his eyes, since he never cried before.
  • Nice Guy: He tries to be kind and considerate and is eager to please, even if he doesn't always know the best way to go about doing that.
  • The Nose Knows: He sniffs people to "remember their scent". He likes the way Rina smells, but thinks Keita smells strange.
  • No Social Skills: Well, no human social skills, anyway.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Most everything he does is not what it looks like.
  • Pointless Band-Aid
  • Raised by Wolves: Quite literally. A male wolf, no less, who took him to a farm so he could nurse on the cows!
  • Thanks for the Mammary: When Rina slips on a rooftop, he reaches to catch her and winds up with his hands around her chest. While she's disgusted with him, he just wants to know why her chest is so bloated and squishy but his is flat.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Kentucky Fried Chicken.
    • His real favorite is rabbit, but he's not allowed to eat that any more.
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: He gets that Rina is his "favorite person", but doesn't quite grasp the entire concept just yet. Even after they start dating, he's still trying to look up words in the dictionary.
  • Wild Child: He was taken by a wolf as a baby and found at seven years old, then educated on basic human manners.
  • Wild Hair
  • You're Not My Father: When he was taken away from the wolf, his biological father tried to step in to teach him about humanity, but Jin insisted that a human could not be his father.

A friend of Rina's who dates a boy at another school.

Nishiko Nomura

A girl in Rina's class who eventually confesses her feelings to Keita.
