Kakumi Kogamino

Super High School Level Pool Player

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f344beeb_b153_488b_ae9c_f5f5eacef4f9.png

  • Dark Secret: Whatever happened in her past, the idea of it being revealed during the secret motive troubled her greatly.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Kakumi is aloof and cynical for the most part, but she’s also shown a strong amount of empathy towards the other members of the group, particularly Otoya.

    Spoiler Folder

Arthur Ford

Super High School Level Hitchhiker

One of the victims of Chapter 3.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/1fc4fce9_4ed9_49c3_b0de_c13d22a869d9.png

    Spoiler Folder

  • Death by Woman Scorned: Because he doesn't date exclusively, he ended up cheating on Tamiko with Yuki. Her finding out about this led to her creating the trap used to murder him.

Aki Shitanaga

Super High School Level Stenographer

The victim of Chapter 4.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/7261d813_272e_4092_8634_0f38f73c9f2d.png

  • Apologises a Lot: It’s rare for her to speak a sentence that doesn’t have the word “sorry” in it.
  • The Eeyore: More or less depression personified.
  • Ship Tease: Aki seems to develop feelings for Aidan during Chapter 2, as evidenced by her asking Kakumi about knowing when you like someone, and pushing for an incorrect vote in her favor to save him from being executed in the trial.

    Spoiler Folder
  • Driven to Suicide: After witnessing all the people she considered friends die, and being given a chance to revive one of them through the fourth motive, she decided to sacrifice her own life to bring back someone else.
  • Suicide by Cop: Her cause of death: she charged at Otoya with a knife, intending for him to kill her in self-defense.

Kaichi Riseiin

Super High School Level ???/Super High School Level Radiologist

The victim of Chapter 5.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ddfffebf_6621_450f_91b9_b78e4213c2f5.png

Click here to see the spoiler version of his intro card.

  • The Ditz: Kaichi isn’t exactly known for being quick on the uptake, and he admits that he’s prone to forgetting even basic information. This takes a tragic turn when it’s revealed that his memory problems are caused by brain damage he received from having a tumor removed.
  • Iconic Item: His surfboard.
  • Surfer Dude: He’s got the general look and attitude of one, and while he does surf in his free time, it’s yet to be seen if that has anything to do with his talent.

    Spoiler Folder
  • Amnesia Danger: "Memory storage is broken," as he put it. While just being included in a killing game is dangerous, not even knowing you're in one is even worse.

Tamiko Oshio

Super High School Level Country Music Artist

The culprit of Chapter 3.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6770e6e6_c7cc_41ac_82ab_7d8775e5b0db.png

  • Ship Tease: Given that she invited Arthur sleep over in her during the second motive as a way to “make the most of their last days”...
  • Stalker with a Crush: Not one herself, but she’s the victim of one that’s already killed at least two of her past boyfriends. Averted when it's revealed she lied about having a stalker to cover up the fact she was the one who killed her past boyfriends for cheating on her.

    Spoiler Folder

  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Due to her double life as the Heartbreaker, she's responsible for several murders across America. However, she only targets people cheating on their girlfriends, and sincerely wants to help those trapped in abusive relationships.

Aidan Doppler

Super High School Level Air Traffic Controller

The culprit of Chapter 2. Later revived at the beginning of Chapter 5.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6c0dac4c_4839_483c_b2d6_a8ababe72f10.png

  • Enfant Terrible: Aidan admits that he used to be this in his younger years.
  • The Leader: Quickly appoints himself as one for the group, setting various safety rules and coming up with plans to counter the motives. This role weighs heavily on him in Chapter 2 when he decides to kill someone to save the group from the oxygen poisoning motive when all his other plans fail.
  • No Indoor Voice: This guy has absolutely no sense of volume control. Especially when he accosts Aki and Mahavir for trying to risk their lives for him.
  • Redheads Are Uncool: An absolute nerd (in Chapter 1 he rallies everyone to play something presumably equivalent to ''Dungeons & Dragons'') with hair so red it's his associated color.
  • Terrible Pick-Up Lines: Tries one on Kakumi in the prologue. It goes about as well as you’d think.

    Spoiler Folder
  • Sympathetic Murderer: He crafted the murder machine that killed Kokoro to end the oxygen poisoning motive that threatened the group, knowing how it felt to not be able to breathe thanks to his asthma. The only reason he didn’t confess right away was because he wanted to test the group to make sure they’d be okay against a killer who was willing to go the full mile.

Yuki Kurokame

Super High School Level Bento Arranger

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/67fb7cf6_70e3_49ce_bd3b_48e86113baf1.png

  • Exhausted Eye Bags: Readily visible in all images of her, even outside of her sprites.
  • Team Mom: Practically adopts this role, serving as the main person making everyone's meals.

    Spoiler Folder

Itsurou Kishaba

Super High School Level Mystery Author

One of the victims of Chapter 3.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4c7b1e28_f6f4_46f1_a092_dbf68e703271.png

  • Gallows Humor: Though he doesn't go out of his way to joke around, he generally seems much more amused by or interested in death than averse to it.

    Spoiler Folder

Tsunyasha

Super High School Level Holy Assassin

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dde3e4c4_27a8_4a93_b7c3_0d37ee4ffc8a.png

  • Chuunibyou: It's heavily implied her "Holy Assassin" talent, as well as her vigilante personality, is nothing but a fabrication.
  • For Great Justice: As part of her "holy assassin" moniker, Tsunyasha wishes to punish sinners with her own brand of justice.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: No sprites showing her holding her hand over her mouth for this, but she certainly fits the other qualifications.

    Spoiler Folder

Mahavir Ignatius Attenborough

Super High School Level Naval Recruit/Super High School Level Mailman

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f41b3e79_e549_4106_b073_d196e79cb125.png

Click here to see the spoiler version of his intro card.

  • Number Two: To Aidan’s The Leader, to the point that he’s willing to try and block Monochap from taking Aidan to his execution and even offer to fight alongside him in it.
  • Overly Long Name: First, middle, and last isn't that long objectively, but when all three are fairly long themselves and most of the cast only go by first and last names (or even a single name), it stands out.

    Spoiler Folder

Kanagi Yuukei

Super High School Level Volleyballer

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9f2135a6_cb51_4942_b474_7ba5b0207882.png

  • Career-Ending Injury: Kanagi’s secret is that any further injury to her right ankle will be this.
  • Dumb Muscle: One of the strongest students in the class, but also isn't the sharpest, something lampshaded by her during Chapter 4.
  • The Lad-ette: Not super rude, but otherwise tend to be pretty aggressive and masculine.

    Spoiler Folder

Otoya Tegushi

Super High School Level Calligrapher

The culprit of Chapter 4.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/761f3200_711a_403a_ac3c_36f715abc914.png

  • Genius Bruiser: Someone well-versed in medical knowledge, as well as someone capable of bench-pressing 400 pounds.
  • Hidden Depths: Although his official talent is calligraphy, Otoya often displays a surprising amount of medical knowledge, even when compared to the actual medic.
  • Hikikomori: Keeps himself locked up in his room most of the time, only leaving when he's sure nobody's around or otherwise coaxed out.

    Spoiler Folder

Kokoro Tanukihara

Super High School Level Care Facility Nurse

The victim of Chapter 2.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/c0aceb87_9ee6_4d00_9b57_b0ff2f20397d.png

  • Absurd Phobia: Kokoro refuses to let anyone remove Kazusuke’s shoes during the body examination because she has Podophobia (the fear of feet). Unfortunately, this causes her to miss an important piece of evidence.
  • Dark Secret: We never actually find out what it is, but her secret apparently sounded bad enough for both Tsunyasha and Ichiriki to antagonize her over it.

    Spoiler Folder

Kazusuke Shintsuu

Super High School Level Racer

The victim of Chapter 1.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/184b5b16_28db_484a_80c8_ed45a1743677.png

    Spoiler Folder
  • Secret Stab Wound: Kazusuke hides the fact that Mary Jane broke his foot because he doesn’t want to admit that a girl injured him so badly. This leads to his death when the fat from his broken bones causes a pulmonary embolism.

Mary Jane Taima

Super High School Level Gardener

The culprit of Chapter 1.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4454a0cd_39ef_4532_9729_1602919f7d8f.png

  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Years of mountain climbing have given her an impressive build, and she’s regarded as the strongest of the females, but her ditzy personality makes it hard for her to keep it in check. This becomes a Fatal Flaw when her roughhousing with Kazusuke results in her breaking his foot, eventually leading to his death and labeling her as his killer.
  • Stoners Are Funny: Her hair looks like marijuana, her slow, sleepy, and hungry behavior is reminiscent of someone being high, and her creator even admitted that most of her character was based off of weed jokes.

    Spoiler Folder
  • Sympathetic Murderer: She had absolutely no intention of killing anyone, and even having the whole case explained to her isn’t enough for her to process that she was responsible for Kazusuke’s death.

Ichiriki Tokino

Super High School Level Chalk Artist

Currently still alive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/84ac5f03_2b88_4f4b_b79b_e1ce1b448c10.png

  • Same Character, But Different: Ichiriki seems to have a new way of behaving for every month of the year. So far, he’s been snooty in the Prologue, cowardly in Chapter 1, overly-dramatic in Chapter 2, coquettish in Chapter 3, antagonistic in Chapter 4, and cheerful in Chapter 5.

    Spoiler Folder

Monochap

Monochaperone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/0f46ee87_c37a_4eb9_8889_b97af6e5c641.png

  • Kindly Housekeeper: A really bizarre inversion of this in that he mostly sticks to this trope aside from encouraging the cast to kill each other. Being male doesn't make his maid schtick any better, either.
