• The unexpected friendship between Kakumi and Otoya. In the first trial, she comes to his defense when he’s accused of breaking Kazusuke’s foot and goes to check on him after he suffers a breakdown during the trial. In Chapter 2, he sends her a note to thank her before holing himself up in his room. She later checks up on him while also leaving a pencil lead in his door to monitor when he left his room for food. She later uses this to defend him again, and he returns the favor by pointing out the holes in the case right when it looks like she’s about to be voted for.
