I am fine with lifting the ban for Tadashi's death. Hell, they turned Coco spoiler-off because of the excessive tagging involved.
Big Hero 6 seems to have many sources beyond the film including the original comic and the associated "prequel" manga. Some trope examples draw exclusively from these sources for their justification.
However, Marvel has said they are abandoning the original source and that there will be no reprints nor any future stories of the original series and the manga is telling a story that diverges significantly from the story of the movie.
Therefore I want to propose adding a new section to this page with a header called something like "Tropes related to the original comic series or supplemental manga" and use it to collect all tropes that rely on either of these sources to distinguish them from what's actually presented in the movie.
I'd appreciate feedback on this suggestion.

Working on cleaning up List of Shows That Need SummaryLooking over the examples on the main page, it doesn't look like there's enough to warrant putting them on their own separate page, but since they draw from a different source than the film a separate section would be helpful to keep them organized
The choice of the image, which is not an official poster, but one that's in a movie poster style, is odd. (The image has a "Big Hero 6" caption, but the movie is called "Baymax" in Japan.)
Hide / Show RepliesAgreed, the entire text of poster is in Japanese, including the movie title. I will look for a more official version of a Big Hero 6 poster and swap it.
Shortly, I am going to move all character tropes from the main work page onto the characters sheet. This will include:
- Action Girl
- Adorkable
- Asshole Victim
- Big Bad
- Brilliant, but Lazy
- Color-Coded Characters
- Corrupt Corporate Executive
- Deadpan Snarker
- Deliberately Cute Child
- Drives Like Crazy
- Five-Token Band
- Fun Personified
- Gentle Giant
- Hot Scientist
- Implacable Man
- The Jeeves
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold
- Jumped Off The Slippery Slope
- Kid Hero
- Literal-Minded
- Malevolent Masked Man
- The Nicknamer
- People in Rubber Suits
- Promotion to Parent
- Race Lift
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits
- Robot Buddy
- Science Hero
- Screams Like a Little Girl
- Secret-Keeper
- Sentai
- Shadow Archetype
- The Slacker
- The Stoic
- Super Prototype
- Super Team
- Teen Genius
- Tomboy and Girly Girl
- Two Girls to a Team
- Ungrateful Bastard
- Unreliable Expositor
- Weak, but Skilled
- What, Exactly, Is His Job?
- White Mask of Doom
- Would Hurt a Child
Okay so we have a listing for the Disney Movie, but not the Marvel comic's version? I haven't really read any of their comics but it would be nice if someone would put one up.
Hi! I made an account exclusively to point out this:
"A Boy and His X: Hiro and Baymax. It used to be Tadashi with Baymax until he dies during the fire incident."
Not tagged for spoilers!
(Sorry, I'd edit it myself but I opened up the source code page and got scared. So... er, here ya go!)
Hide / Show RepliesThis is completely meaningless, but how cool is the university's mascot? All together now, "Go Kaiju!"
Okay, I dunno about you, but I swear to God I saw a mask on Fred's wall that looked a HELL of a lot like Strong Bad's.
When all else fails, use a REALLY BIG STICK!!Removing "Getting Crap Past the Radar" entries:
The following are listed in Getting Crap Past the Radar:
- Getting Crap Past the Radar:
- Baymax worries that Hiro's stress might be caused by his going through puberty. He tries to explain puberty to him, and tells him that he will grow hair on his face, his armpits, his chest and - then Hiro cuts him off. Later in the same scene, Hiro's interruption narrowly prevents Baymax from giving a lecture about sex/masturbation.
- Baymax acts distinctly like he's drunk when his battery gets low.
- When Baymax asks the group if they have something emotional to share, guess how the conversation kicks off?
Fred: My name is Fred, and it's been thirty days since my last-
- Another one for Fred is when he compares hugging a warm Baymax to spooning a warm marshmallow.
- To a minor degree, Aunt Cass making spicy hot wings and mentioning that they are going to feel them tomorrow.
None of these seem to fit the trope, since I don't see how any censor could have missed them. These are in the movie because the censors don't mind them. (AIUI, Getting Crap Past the Radar is for things that the censors miss until it's too late.) What, the censor highly objects to mentioning that children go through puberty, but just doesn't notice that Baymax uses the word? And it's not like "spooning" is so terribly naughty. (Forking, on the other hand...)
At most, these might be "parental bonus", but I doubt even that. Really, they're just lines that some people (kids and adults) will get and some will miss.
I removed these once before with a terser comment to this effect, and they were restored without comment. I'm going to remove them again but direct people here if they disagree—if they do, perhaps we should start a discussion about it? (I'd say if these are GCPTR, then GCPTR is so subjective a trope that it ought to go on the YMMV page...)
OTOH, if people want to move any of these items to other, more appropriate tropes (as I moved Baymax's low-energy behavior to Drunk on Milk), that's fine by me.
The name "Yokai" is never actually used within the film itself. What would this go under?
BOOM. Ah, frig, the fourth wall was broken AGAIN. Hide / Show RepliesAnyone else think the poster looks kinda blurry?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.Hey, it appears that someone on the WMG page somehow knows early spoilers for this movie...

Why is Tadashi's death a spoiler? It happens a third (or maybe even quarter) to the movie and it significantly drives Hiro for the rest, so it's hard to not mention it.
I actually have my worst kind of guesses for this, but I'd rather focus on trying to un-spoiler this.
