The Pretty Princess Himself.
Lenny IRL

ZeroLenny is a Dark Souls challenge runner and YouTuber from the Northwest of the UK. His videos primarily consist of him trying to beat games in the “Soulslike” genre with the worst weapon in the game, usually a broken sword, and/or various other similar handicaps. They are jam-packed full of wacky hijinks, swearing, and more Spice than the tank of a Guild Steersman.

Joining Youtube in 2009 as a late teenager, Lenny amassed moderate amounts of fame with his Club Penguin: Meme Police and Goose News videos, but his first Breakthrough Hit was in 2016 with THE DARK SOULS 2 EXPERIENCE, the first of the Experience videos which Lenny would later become well known for in the Souls community. At first, Lenny hid his voice behind the “Daniel” TTS program, but around 2018, sometime around THE MONSTER HUNTER EXPERIENCE, the TTS voice evolved into his own character, Robolenny.note  This would bring about Lenny’s most popular era yet, with IRL Lenny and Robolenny working together to complete the challenge of the week while exchanging witty banter.

However, in mid-2021, Lenny's Youtube viewership and growth began plateauing once again, leading him to the decision to more or less retire Robolenny from the channel, while simultaneously starting a new series consisting of highlights of Lenny's attempts to complete various FromSoftware titles with the day-one IGN strategy guide, starting with Bloodborne. The gambit worked, and Lenny's views and exposure began growing again, and the IGN guide videos regularly crack 500K views. Presently, Lenny's channel is a hybrid of goofy challenge runs with outlandish controllers, the aforementioned IGN Guide series, occasional throwback videos with Robolenny and semi-serious game reviews.

In 2019, he released The ZeroLenny Spicy Mod, a Gag Dub of the entirety of Dark Souls 2 where every voiced character's dialogue is replaced with utter silliness.

He currently holds the unofficialnote  world record for Dark Souls beaten with the most alternative controllerslist.

Tropes dat need 2 die:

  • 419 Scam: In "THE DARK SOULS 2 EXPERIENCE", Lenny kills a Nigerian prince and steals his robes. Later, he suspects the piles of gold the twin Dragonriders are guarding must have been collected through such a scam.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Lenny has to admit IGN is right that fighting Micolash, Host of the Nightmare while playing The Benny Hill Theme makes the fight a lot funnier.
  • Affectionate Parody: Lenny likes to rib speedrunners like Games Done Quick by putting on an atrocious overenthusiastic American accent and claiming that everything he does in his speedrun is "RNG manipulation."
Lenny[with god-awful accent]: Ok gamers, so in order to get the best RNG manipulation we need to go in this corner and go ABABABABA
  • Anti-Climax: Whenever Lenny says “Welcome back to WRESTLE WITH THE LENNY in the tag-team thunderdome ring”, you can bet that he’s about to kill the boss he’s fighting in an unexpectedly quick way.
  • All for Nothing: Zig-zagged in "Can You Beat Dark Souls 3 IN UNDER 1 HOUR?". After three days of streaming, Lenny finally manages to get a top 100 glitchless speedrun record, but it gets disqualified on the technicality that he quit out for more than 20 seconds at once at one point in the stream. However, feeling it would then be disrespectful to the speedrunning community to make an entire video dramatizing his quest to get a top 100 time without it being official, Lenny went and got a legitimate run he later did off-stream accepted.
  • April Fools' Day: "Can you beat Dark Souls without pressing A?" is a video released on April 1st, and it's a three-second clip of Lenny standing in front of a closed door with the prompt "press A to open". He loudly says "NO" into the microphone.
  • Audience Participation: ‘’THE DEAD CELLS EXPERIENCE’’ ran this way, with Lenny using the game’s Twitch integration features to let viewers take control of Robolenny. Highlights include a viewer mistaking him for Iron Pineapple and a Troll blackmailing him into admitting Dragon's Dogma is a good game by withholding healing.
  • Author Appeal: Lenny is obviously a big fan of British sketch comedy, and sneaks a lot of references to it into the videos he makes.
  • Author Tract: "THE DRAGON'S DOGMA EXPERIENCE" is basically just a 5-minute rant from Lenny about why the game is boring. Later, he would release an actual critique of the game, and acknowledges those who like it.
  • Arc Words: For some reason, the IGN guide in "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide" insists on saying "The true Dark Soul starts here" at the start of every area, except upon entering the Kiln of the First Flame, where it says "The true Dark Soul ends here".
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: IRL Lenny and Robolenny fight and insult each other constantly, but when the chips are down, they're there for each other. Robolenny has been comforted by IRL Lenny in several rare moments of tenderness.
Robolenny: you know, for being such a cunt most of the time, you're not so bad.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment:
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Lenny chooses to fight like this in "Can You Beat Armored Core 6 with NO WEAPONS", foregoing the wealth of guns at his disposal to instead use the default Armored Core punch and kick. He accidentally ends up creating a build that is capable of demolishing most of the bosses by stunlocking them into oblivion through repeated posture breaks, and the only bosses that give him trouble are ones that either employ Teleport Spam or are too big to stagger.
  • Blatant Lies:
    • In "How to Broken Sword Dark Souls 2", Lenny keeps talking about how much he loves Dark Souls 2 and how it's the best souls game, and how he has five save files on standby so he can get up first thing in the morning and start experiencing it.
    • In "How Many Times Can I Beat DARK SOULS 2 in 24 HOURS?", he claims that his game crashed right as he was about to fight a human player invader at 8 AM, when he very obviously just quit out of the game so he didn't have to fight the guy.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: Robolenny mocks IRL Lenny frequently by modulating his voice.
Robolenny[voice oscillating]: Oh look everyone my name is Lenny the bitchass I piss my pants on the regular
  • Catchphrase: Quite a few, though most prominently “DO YOU WANT A FUCKING SLAP?” and “I’m a Pretty Princess.”
  • The Cameo:
  • Can't Hold His Liquor: Lenny has done a few drunk Twitch streams, and when he gets drunk, he gets drunk. Once it took him a half an hour to end the stream because he kept going on about how much he loved his fans.
  • Cheese Strategy: invoked IGN's self-proclaimed "Cheeseburger Mage" build in "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide" is all about cheesing every single cheesable part of Dark Souls 3, and it actually gets results.
  • Cherry Tapping: In "Can You Beat Armored Core 6 with NO WEAPONS", Lenny is horrified when it dawns on him that the first level starts him out with weapons equipped, meaning he can't use the punch or kick moves required for the challenge. He then discovers that he can still do a little bit of damage by flying headfirst into enemies, but it still makes the game's Warm-Up Boss ten times more difficult than it would be for him normally.
  • Christmas Episode: invoked "Can MY MUM beat DARK SOULS AGAIN" was released on Christmas Day 2023 and has a "Christmas party" theme to it, including some truly groan-worthy Dark Souls-themed Christmas Cracker jokes.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Robolenny, frequently.
Robolenny: SHITTY FUCKING NEW GAME FUCKING PLUS WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT THIS SHIT WAS A GREAT IDEA OH HAHAHAHAHA NOW I HAVE TO GO LOOK FOR SOULS OUT IN THE FUCKING WORLD BECAUSE EVERYTHING’S BROKEN FUCK THIS STUPID FUCKING MOD I SWEAR TO CHRIST
  • Commuting on a Bus: Robolenny only makes very sporadic appearances these days, compared to when he used to be in every video and be the sole character before that. "THE WILD HEARTS EXPERIENCE" reveals that he's actually just hanging out at Gwyn's Pub whenever he's not in a video, much to IRL Lenny's chagrin. The video ends with them leaving to go hang out, like they used to at the ends of videos in the 2019 era.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: ‘’WRESTLE WITH THE LENNY’’ features Robolenny beating up most of the running gags and inside jokes of the channel, going all the way back to the meme police!
  • Cool Plane: Lenny becomes one of these in "Can you beat Elden Ring as a FIGHTER JET!?" When he installs a mod that turns his character into a fighter jet. It's basically an in-universe Game-Breaker, since none of the enemies or bosses in the game are able to hit it from so far away while the jet barrages them with magic...except for the Tree Sentinel's shield which reflects magic attacks.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: The guides are surprisingly good at creating builds that work decently well in FromSoftware games, even if they have an extremely unorthodox method of acquiring it or it sounds like it wouldn't work. Lenny is genuinely dumbfounded when after a certain point, a bow build in both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls actually start putting out reasonable amounts of damage. The guides also correctly demonstrate several in-universe Cheese Strategies, such as killing False King Allant by slowly walking up behind him and poisoning him to death.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Robolenny is always making some sort of wisecrack, usually at IRL Lenny's expense. Justified, since his voice is a monotone TTS voice.
  • Decomposite Character:
    • Originally, there was no distinction to be made between ZeroLenny and Robolenny; the implication was just that IRL Lennynote  was just using a TTS voice to hide his actual voice, which wasn't exactly uncommon among small YouTubers at the time. However, around 2019, it became increasingly clear that Robolenny was a separate character who ran the channel and IRL Lenny started working with him to complete various challenge runs. Then, after Robolenny no longer became a regular character, basically all pretense was dropped and it was just Lenny's channel, and had always been.
    • Even before that, Robolenny was the Meme Police in the channel's old Club Penguin videos, until "WRESTLE WITH THE LENNY", which has Robolenny fight the Meme Police, who is now a separate entity. IRL Lenny explains that Robolenny can be distinguished from the Meme Police because he talks 30% slower than the default speed the "Daniel" TTS program uses(which is the speed the Meme Police speaks at) as a way to differentiate him from other creators who used the TTS voice at the time.
  • Dissimile: At one point in "Dark Souls 2 BUT with the IGN guide", the guide tells Lenny to adopt the "Battle Turtle" strategy and to "think like a turtle." Lenny lampshades this.
Lenny: If I was thinking like a turtle, I'd close my eyes and be like "What the FUCK am I doing playing Dark Souls 2???"
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Apparently, Robolenny thought Big Keith from Anor Londo was not only a girl, but flirting with him all night.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • The earliest “experience” videos don’t resemble Lenny’s modern content at all; Robolenny is the only character, none of the running gags have really taken off yet and overall the editing is far more passive. This would start to change around 2018, with the IRL Lenny/Robolenny dynamic taking off completely in ‘’THE CHALICE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE”.
    • His very first video, "Dark Souls 2: Shrek's Day At the Bell Tower", is a Dark Souls PVP video, something he would make fun of other youtubers for making in later years!
  • Excuse Plot: When an episode has a “plot”, chances are it’ll be something along the lines of “IRL Lenny and Robolenny got lost and need to kill everything around them.”
IRL Lenny: Lenny, I’m so confused, what is your Nan doing on Weeaboo Island?
Robolenny: Oh fuck I forgot we had a plot this episode
  • Extra-Long Episode:
    • The "Experience" videos and the IGN guide videos usually dwarf Lenny's other content in sheer length, running around 45 minutes to an hour while the rest of his content never usually gets above 30 very often.
    • "How Many Times Can I Beat DARK SOULS 2 in 24 HOURS?" is a whopping 50 minutes long despite being a non-IGN video, since it covers a 24-hour marathon stream and there were so many good bits that Lenny didn't want to have to edit out, so he decided to make an overall less-edited video with a longer runtime and more funny moments to capture the spirit of the stream better after posting a community poll about it.
  • Failed a Spot Check: The chatter who tells Lenny that you can press Y, then X to immediately return to Roundtable Hold somehow failed to notice that he's playing with a set of Donkey Kong bongos.
Lenny: Who is this absolute CREATURE in my chat!? PRESS Y THEN X? Ok, lad, I'll get right on that! (slaps bongos in appropriate locations twice, obviously nothing happens)
  • Faux Horrific: Anytime anime shows up.
    • When Lenny played through Darkest Dungeon, after beating the first darkest dungeon level, normally the game starts showing fleeting glimpses of an Eldritch Abomination on various character portraits, but for Lenny they turn into Anime reskin mods.
    • The first few seconds of his playthrough of Code Vein devolved into him and Robolenny incoherently screaming in terror when the game's first set of huge boobs show up.
    • "OH FUCK THE WEEABOO VIRUS DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME"
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Lenny is fond of putting blink-and-you'll-miss-them messages at key moments in his videos. Some of them say "stop pausing the video."
  • Fun with Acronyms: In one of his Dark Souls 3 PVP tutorials, he comes up with D.I.C.K, which stands for “Dex Is Cancer King.”
  • Gag Dub: "The ZeroLenny Spicy Mod" for Dark Souls 2 changes all voiced dialogue in the game to be Lenny putting on voices and doing a meta-roast of the game itself.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: Subverted. El Crabbo is a regular sized crab... who can do 700 damage a hit.
  • Good Bad Bugs: Lampshaded in-universe. Lenny will often push a game to it's limit, and sometimes it will break. Bugging the game out was the only way he was able to kill Rykard with the torch.
IRL Lenny: You know, Lenny, we shit on Dark Souls 2 a lot on this channel but it's just cause 1's a flawless game, really.note
  • Gratuitous French:
  • Groin Attack: Lenny defeats the Hinox of Eventide Island by slamming a crate into its' balls over and over again until it dies.
  • He-Man Woman Hater: The author of the 2009 Demon’s Souls Gamefaqs Strategy Guide is portrayed as this, especially when he mentions that he felt no guilt from killing Maiden Astraea, a defenseless Zero-Effort Boss, because his ex dumped him recently.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Invoked and lampshaded. In ‘’THE CODE VEIN EXPERIENCE’’, IRL Lenny is one away from winning his bingo card, and all he needs is an unnecessary heroic sacrifice to win. Naturally, Robolenny takes him at his word and sacrifices himself to forever destroy anime.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: IRL Lenny and Robolenny. They live together in a house in the Undead Burg and get into all sorts of wacky adventures.
  • Hollywood Hacking: Lenny actually futzes about with the game's code to get himself out of a pillar while doing the Duke's Archives skip, but he plays it up like this for the camera.
Lenny: We're in, boys. We've just hacked the FACKIN' GOVERNMENT!
  • Homage: "the entire story of Dark Souls, i guess" is done deliberately referencing the style, tempo and title of bill wurtz's "History of the entire world, i guess".
  • I Banged Your Mom: In many of the early "Experience" videos, Robolenny is shown to have a sexual relationship with Dark Souls Fandom VIP and loremaster VaatiVidya's Mum. At various different points, Vaati's Mum was characterized as a Stacy's Mom, a Mrs. Robinson, and a Clingy Jealous Girl, but her only onscreen appearance was in "THE SALT AND SANCTUARY EXPERIENCE" where she was represented by The Witch of The Lake. However, after Lenny began to realize that he was cracking jokes about sleeping with a real person's presumably-still-alive mother, he decided that they were crossing a line and killed the joke.
  • I Lied: After spending the whole first half of "How to TORCH ONLY Elden Ring" telling the viewer that it's "not a cock-measuring contest" and they can use other, better torches or even the Torchpole weapon for their torch-only run if they want, but that he's going to use the base torch, he suddenly says that he lied and that it IS a cock-measuring contest and that he has a small cock. He then proceeds to go get and use the Ghostflame Torch.
  • If It Was Funny the First Time...: Lampshaded very frequently. Almost all the ‘’Experience’’ videos reuse at least one joke.
Lenny: Now the thing is, this is like the 5th time I’ve used this joke, but the thing is, I like it a lot, so shut the fuck up.note
  • Improbable Weapon User: He has a series where instead of beating each Dark Souls game with the in-game Broken Sword weapon, he beats them with an actual broken sword as his controllernote .
  • Indy Escape: Subverted when Lenny tries to brute force his way fast the boulder in Sen's Fortress. Double subverted when it kills him almost instantly.
IRL Lenny: Lenny, aren't you worried about the boulder?
Robolenny: Don't worry Lenny, it doesn't do that much damage. Unless it hits you six fucking times-
  • Insomnia Episode: "How Many Times Can I Beat DARK SOULS 2 in 24 HOURS?" has him stay awake playing Dark Souls 2 for 24 hours. By 2 AM, the Sleep Deprivation is beginning to get to him and he starts acting weirder than usual.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Lenny claims the DJ Hero controller is safe and stable... as it breaks apart in his hands.
    • In "How to TORCH ONLY Elden Ring", Lenny tells a rat that it can't kill him because he has the beast-repellent torch. It kills him anyway.
  • Literal-Minded: Lenny approaches the IGN guides this way, doing exactly what it tells him to do. This includes calling his dad to ask if he's proud of him, rewarding himself with a cookie and doing the dishes to calm down after he gets too mad facing The Rotten.
  • Loophole Abuse: At one point in "Dark Souls 2 BUT with the IGN GUIDE", the guide tells Lenny to destroy every single statue he sees in the Black Gulch to avoid getting hit by the poison darts. Lenny simply positions his camera so that he can only see the ground and what's immediately ahead of him, and proceeds normally to the Boss Room.
  • Lovable Coward: Robolenny is pretty easily spooked, especially by skeletons and spiders, but it's always Played for Laughs.
Robolenny: Oh god spiders nope nope nope nope nope nope nope
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Robolenny is always trying to acquire a new "Waifu" and frequently tries to get with the ladies. He goes nuts upon discovering Lunar Princess Ranni, probably due to her blue skin.note
  • Malaproper: Lenny, by his own admission, pronounces a lot of the names in various FromSoftware games wrong. He does defend his misuse of Dark Souls terminology for other Fromsoft games' items, saying that nobody actually calls them a "Flask of Cerulean Tears" or "Blood Vials" when they could just say "Estus", for example.
  • Marathon Boss: Given that Lenny usually fights his opponents with weapons which deal Scratch Damage, every boss in a game becomes this, especially those which have resistances to his weapon in question, such as the Watchdog of the Old Lords in Bloodborne's Chalice Dungeons.
Robolenny: hahahahahaha "Lenny do chalice dungeons please I want to see funny XD moments where you spend literally half an hour slapping a dog with a stick" why can't you fuckers leave me alone please I beg you
  • Mistaken For Trans: In "THE IRL EXPERIENCE", Lenny is dressed up like his blue-skinned, dress wearing persona. At one point he receives a hug of solidarity from an old man on the street, who then says "I love trans, I love trans people." Lenny increases the death counter by 1.
  • Mood Whiplash: Lenny kills the Darkmoon Knight in Anor Londo, which is a sad moment in-game... and then the mod he has installed turns the Fire Keeper Soul she drops into "look at the dog".
Lenny: I just feel bad...LOOK AT THE DOG! I feel better now. LOOK AT THE DOG GUYS!
  • Motor Mouth: Lenny explains "How to Broken Sword Dark Souls" very, very quickly, only pausing when something kills him-FACK!
  • Narm Charm: In-universe. Lenny actually likes and appreciates the cringeworthy little comedy bits and weird tangents in the old IGN and Gamefaqs guides, because they add a distinctly human element to them which is absent from modern guides, which are typically very bland and to the point. Lenny suspects that the reason this practice died out is because of the advent of YouTube walkthroughs, which offered a much wider variety of personalities to choose from and had being funny and entertaining covered after a certain point.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Apparently, Otz did not take Lenny to the prom.
    • In "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide", the Guide notes that the reason they know what happens when all the Firelink Shrine NPCs die is due to "one bad afternoon of gamer rage". It's anyone's guess what that means.
  • Not Big Enough for the Two of Us: Robolenny kills Yharnam, Pthumerian Queen because she's copying his style.
Robolenny: There's only room for one Pretty Princess in this rooting tooting town.
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: His video on the demo for Dark Souls Archthrones is called "They Made Dark Souls 4 (no, seriously)".
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Robolenny was able to come back from the dead after beating Code Vein by beating the entirety of Dragon's Dogma by himself.
  • Old Shame: Subverted. Lenny thinks that a YouTube Poop he made back when he was 13 on an old channel is going to be massively cringe when he pulls it up in "Can You Beat Dark Souls 3 In UNDER 1 HOUR?", but is pleasantly surprised to find that it's held up rather well.
  • Oop North:
    • Lenny is from the Northwest in real life, and as such sports a thick accent. He’s not afraid to lean into it at times and start shouting “LET’S GO FOOKING MENTAL” like a Football Hooligan.
    • He makes a point of pointing out that the voice given to Yellowfinger Heysel in Dark Souls Archthrones has an accent very evocative of the specific region he's from and sounds almost exactly like his friend, which he then demonstrates with some side-by-side comparisons of the two's voices, which do sound nearly alike.
  • Orphaned Setup: In one of IGN Guy's videos, he says that the Moonlight Butterfly will "float down", before claiming that "everyone around the office loves that one".note  This leaves both Lenny and his chat perplexed at what the joke was supposed to be, with Lenny constructing an Anti-Humor bit where he just says "WHEN IT FLOATS DOWN" out of the situation.
  • Papa Wolf: Lenny becomes this to the writer of the IGN Bloodborne strategy guide after they keep dropping hints that their love life sucks.
Lenny[enraged]: IGN! IGN! WHO HURT YOU!? WHO HURT YOU, LAD!? I'LL SORT HER OUT! I'LL SORT HER OUT! YOU HELPED ME GET THROUGH BLOODBORNE, I'LL HELP YOU WITH YOUR ROMANCE!
  • Pro Wrestling Episode: After "WRESTLE WITH THE LENNY" had become a Running Gag in his videos, Lenny released a full-length "WRESTLE WITH THE LENNY" video made using the official WWF game. In it, Robolenny takes on numerous recurring characters from the "Experience" series in an all-out brawl, and also faces off against his old incarnation, the Meme Police.
  • Put on a Bus: As of ‘’THE Doom Eternal NIGHTMARE EXPERIENCE’’, Robolenny no longer appears in most of the videos.(Don’t worry, he's just on holiday, and the bus comes back for certain big mainline videos.)
  • Real-World Episode: "The IRL experience". IRL Lenny dresses up like Robolennynote  and wanders around town getting into wacky hijinks. He goes to the pub, harasses a games store for having Dark Souls 2, and demonstrates how to make Lenny Pizzi Pie, setting off his actual smoke alarm in the process.
  • Running Gag: Whenever Lenny is booting up a Game Mod for a Souls-like RPG, there's a 75 percent chance he'll load up Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin by accident.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Robolenny is much more aggressive and prone to violence(red), and IRL Lenny is usually the more reserved "nerd" explaining everything(blue). However, in the videos that just feature Lenny all by himself, he's just as, if not more rambunctious than Robolenny.
  • Scratch Damage: Even after finding the broken sword, Lenny still only deals about 10-15 damage a swing to bosses with 10,000 hp.
Robolenny: I still fucking hit like a wet noodle.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In "THE CHALICE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE", when Robolenny is confronted with the arduous task of refighting the Watchdog of the Old Lords, which has fire resistance, with the Hunter's torch, an already incredibly weak weapon whose primary damage type is fire, while only having half his HP and getting one-shot by all of the Watchdog's attacks, he leaves to go summon off-camera. Luckily, IRL Lenny talks him out of it.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: Played for laughs in-universe. Robolenny is apparently good enough to beat every FromSoftware game with the worst weapon, but he only did it that way because everyone told him Dark Souls was hard, so he didn’t realize there were other weapons.
  • Serious Business: Lenny's Connect Four rivalry with his friend Patoika is taken with all the severity of a high-level Chess match between grandmasters each time it comes up.
  • Sequence Breaking: The IGN guide in "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide" throws Dark Souls 3's normal progression to the wind in favor of having Lenny kill the Dancer of the Boreal Valley so that he can go to the Consumed King's Garden and fight Oceiros and Champion Gundyr before he kills a single Lord of Cinder, all so that he can get a +10 bow.
  • Signature Move: The Forbidden Lenny Slap. It’s so powerful that Robolenny only uses it as a finisher in extremely spicy circumstances, unless IRL Lenny is annoying him. In that case, he hits Lenny so hard that all we hear is an amplified, reverberated slapping sound effect.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: Both IRL Lenny and Robolenny, quite a bit.
IRL Lenny: Woah Luis, pal, easy on the swearing there, we don't wanna get demonetized.
Robolenny: Because we would never fucking swear, would we?
    IRL Lenny: Absolutely fookin’ not.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Parodied when Robolenny dies sacrificing himself to destroy anime and the next video has a character with a different TTS voice sycophantically praising IRL Lenny. Robolenny shows up and kills him.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Both Lennys enjoy pepperoni “pizzi”, as they call it. When Robolenny loses a bet to IRL Lenny and has to hand over all his pizzi for a month, he threatens to commit Seppuku.
  • Troll: Lenny's chat in "Elden Ring BUT WITH A PIANO". The whole way through the video they keep submitting requests for him to play on the piano when he says he's not taking them, and then when he actually does start taking requests, they all start saying "Nah, just play the game :)".
  • Take That!:
Lenny: And all of a sudden, BAM: Melina comes back, and she starts telling you all this massive lore excerpt about the Erdtree, about the Two Fingers and the Greater Will, but then, just before her dialogue ends, she goes "Tarnished, I don't understand one thing...Tarnished, why have you not bought the battlepass yet? BOOM! it appears onscreen at the bottom- BUY ELDEN RING BATTLE PASS, 500 ELDENBUX!
  • Tempting Fate: “Somebody call Otzdarva, because I just did this bitch hitless.”
  • That Came Out Wrong: Lenny likes to run out to the ice cream truck when it comes round so he can beat the kids...
Lenny: I mean BEAT THE KIDS TO THE FRONT OF THE ICE CREAM!
  • They Copied It, So It Sucks!: invoked Defied by Lenny during his playthrough of the demo of Dark Souls Archthrones. He says that he understands that lot of people are going to be put off that most of the levels and bosses are just Moveset Clones or otherwise remixed from other FromSoftware Souls-likes, but that the stuff that they were actually able to substantively change (enemy design, visual presentation, music, story, etc.) is all excellent and doesn't deserve to be dismissed just because it reuses a lot of assets. He then immediately goes on to parody the sentiment by jokingly complaining that the area based off of Heide's Tower of Flame doesn't have the Dragonrider as the boss.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • Both Lennys have a moment like this in "THE SCORCHED CONTRACT EXPERIENCE" upon realizing how much damage the New Game Plus Four Kings do.
IRL Lenny: ...Was that a one-shot?
    Robolenny: ...Yes.
IRL Lenny: OH, LENNY, WE ARE SO FU-
    • Lenny expresses this sentiment whenever the IGN guide tells him to farm souls or items for 3 hours, because it is never worth it. A prominent moment like this happens in "Demon's Souls BUT with the 2009 GAMEFAQS STRATEGY GUIDE" where he throws in the towel trying to kill Black Phantom Scirvir with a longbow like the guide told him to to go farm spiderstone all day and upgrade his weapon. It winds up dealing a TINY amount more damage than before, and Lenny is visibly silently fuming.
    • When the guide tells him to keep suicide running into New Londo Ruins to get the composite longbow so he can make ANOTHER ranged build like in the Demon's Souls video, he can do nothing but exasperatedly sigh. Subverted in that like the Demon's Souls video, it actually starts being a decent build when he gets to the Bell Gargoyles.
    • In "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide", Lenny is peeved when the guide tells him to kill the Ancient Wyvern by repeatedly shooting it in the head with arrows at reduced damage instead of just One Hit Killing it with a plunging attack, so he gets his mum to do it for him. Subverted later on when the guide tells him to use Pestilent Mist to kill Yhorm the Giant instead of the Storm Ruler, which Lenny thinks will be awful but winds up being honestly all right in his opinion.
  • The Unpronounceable: Discussed in "THE CHALICE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE" when the duo encounter fellow souls youtuber Ymfah, who has famously given a Shrug of God on how his name is pronounced:
    Robolenny: holy shit it's Imfah
IRL Lenny: No, I thought it was pronounced Yamfah? Yemfah? Yumfrih?
Robolenny:[at the same time] No it's definitely Yeemfah. Yeetfap.
Ymfah: Yeah, the Hunter's Torch is pretty shit. There's no way you can make it OP.
    Both Lennys: FUCK YOU YUMFAH
  • Visual Pun: At one point, IRL Lenny says he needs to address the elephant in the room. He then tells a Mammoth Knight to get out of his house.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: There is not a moment that goes by where Robolenny and IRL Lenny are not slinging insults at each other, making fun of each other, or even slapping each other, but they could not be greater friends.
  • Wacky Sound Effect: Whenever Lenny gets knocked off a cliff, it's accompanied by the sound of a guy shouting "PUSSY!"
  • What's a Henway?: Robolenny pulls one of these on IRL Lenny in "The Greatest Dark Souls Mod Ever Made", though he botches the punchline.
Robolenny: I wonder if the mod added the Blade of Hava.
IRL Lenny: The Blade of Hava? What's that?
Robolenny: Wait, you don't remember? It's from Dark Souls 2.
IRL Lenny: Uh, yeah, that's why I don't remember it. What's the Blade of Hava?
Robolenny: Ladies and gentlemen, we got him. Hava nice day bitch.
    IRL Lenny: ...Huh?
Robolenny: Wait shit I messed up I meant HAVA THESE NUTS IN YOUR MOUTH
    • IRL Lenny gets him back later on in "Elden Ring BUT TORCH ONLY" by telling him all about how Demi-humans (which he calls "Goblins") have variations which correspond to the various in-game statsnote , such as Strength Goblins, Intelligence Goblins, Faith Goblins, and his favorite, the Mind Goblins.
  • Windmill Crusader: The Meme Police believes that he and his deputy Sally28990 are arresting people for not keeping their memes spicy. In reality, he's just harassing people on Club Penguin.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: If there’s a dress in the game he’s playing, Lenny will put it on, and then proceed to beat the whole thing with a broken sword.
  • Who's on First?: In "Dark Souls 3 BUT With The IGN Guide", Lenny describes an embarrasing story how when going out to London to test the demo for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, he met a PR head named Chantay. When she introduced herself as "I'm Chantay", Lenny misinterpreted it as her saying "enchanté", and responded by saying "Enchanté". It apparently went from bad to worse when she repeated herself and said "No, I'm Chantay", and Lenny replied "Enchanté" once more.
  • With This Herring: Zig-zagged. The IGN guide videos have Lenny following its instructions to the letter, so if the guide tells him to use an in-universe Scrappy Weapon as his main weapon for the rest of the run, he'll do it. A big example of this occurs in the Bloodborne video when the guide tells him that it's very important that he use the Wooden Shield, an item deliberately put in the game to troll people who think the game is going to play similarly to Dark Souls, because of a single specific spot where it could prevent a deadly status effect in the 1.0 version of the game. Other times it gives him a genuinely uniquely fun or good build by the end of the guide, such as in the Dark Souls 2 video where by the end it has him using Santier's Spear and the Moon Butterfly armor set.
  • Wildlife Commentary Spoof: Lenny consistently tries to document the lives of the mushroom people in the Darkroot Garden, but always gets interrupted.
Lenny: As you can see, the mushroom fuckles migrate southwards for- hey, I'm TRYNA DO MY NATURE SHOW!note
  • Wrong-Name Outburst: While trying to get his dad to congratulate him for beating the Heide Knight, Lenny's dad accidentally calls him by his real name. On stream. Luckily Lenny takes it in stride and actually put it in "Dark Souls 2 BUT with the IGN guide", revealing that his first name is Steve.
  • Yet Another Stupid Death: Lenny keeps a death counter in the bottom-right corner of the screen that goes up by 1 each time he dies. Some of them are scripted for comedy, whereas suddenly it will shoot up to 200 when he encounters a particularly hard boss.

Robolenny vs. Defiled Watchdog

After coming face to face with the Defiled version of the Watchdog of the Old Lords, Robolenny breaks down and goes to summon off-camera as he believes it's too hard for him to beat. IRL Lenny manages to talk him out of it and hype him up, but his words can only do so much.

How well does it match the trope?
