Main Story

  • While talking with the previous users of One For All it's stated that All Might's vestige is unable to speak due to All Might still being alive or having access to One for All. Yoichi says that its first words most likely will be ‘I am here, in your head!’
    • Yoichi is quite smug when All Might says exactly that after Izuku's bond with Melissa lets him into the mindscape in Chapter 28.
  • After the exam, All Might is gushing about Izuku's feats, and as night comes he decides to check his phone for the messages Izuku sent, figuring that there is no harm in reading the notifications...
Young Midoriya: Toshinori-sensei, your Quirk’s haunted.
    Young Midoriya: Nana says hi
Young Midoriya: she also was the one who told me to call you Toshinori and I was worried but she insisted
Young Midoriya: and she said you wouldn’t get mad, and if you did, she’d give me Gran Torino’s phone number and make me tell him your instructions for using One for All
Young Midoriya: I don’t know who Gran Torino is, and she won’t tell me
Young Midoriya: and the other past users are all just giggling and it’s really concerning.
All Might promptly fell over, spewing blood from his mouth.
  • When the vestiges of One for All are choosing what role they will play in Izuku's life, users two and three decide they don't want to help. Banjo calls them the crazy uncles they keep locked in the attic. Shinomori objects... because he wanted to be the crazy uncle. So Banjo calls him the crazy uncle who lives in the woods by choice and occassionally comes over to show his wood whittlings. Shinomori deems this acceptable.
  • After deciding to put both Bakugo and Mineta in Vlad King's class, Nezu decides to put all 13 female students in Aizawa's class. Aizawa's response?
    Aizawa: I quit.
    Nezu: Denied.
Vlad King: If I have to deal with this shit, you do too.
    • Irony strikes when Aizawa's heavily female class ultimately turns out to be smooth sailing due to the (mostly) mature personalities present and general sense of decency, while Vlad's...isn't.
  • The first thing Izuku sees when entering 1-A's classroom is Tenya telling someone to remove their feet from the table. However, here the one he's lecturing is Setsuna, who promptly obeys by popping her feet off the table while not moving at all.
  • Momo takes the rest of her class to a restaurant that for most of them would eat at once a year for a special occasion. When Ochako sees said restaurant and hears Momo call it a casual eatery, her response is to swear up a storm that impresses Izuku. And considering Izuku grew up with Bakugo you know it's impressive.
  • Mineta's complete and utter despair that there are no girls in his class.
  • When Ochako hears from Izuku that All Might's advice amounted to "Clench your buttcheeks and yell SMASH", she starts laughing "like a hyena on nitrous oxide".
  • Izuku's internally floundering after he comes out in costume and sees the costumes of his 13 female classmates, including his crush Ochako, much to the amusement of the vestiges. He's initially relieved that he wouldn't have to deal with the hormonal embarrassment of being around a flatteringly suited Ochako (although he's simultaneously disappointed that he wouldn't be on the same team as his best friend) when drawing lots puts him on a different team than her... only for his relief to turn into panic when he's paired with the much more scantily clad Momo.
  • After seeing Izuku and Momo's smarts, everybody else in their class decides that they don't want to face them in a fight, a belief which is vindicated after everything they put Tokoyami and Kendo through. All Might even says their teamwork was too perfect and makes a note to make sure Izuku and Momo are not on the same team again.
After the class learns Tokoyami and Kendo are the unlucky duo.
    Kaminari: Better them than us!
    Iida: Kaminari-kun, that’s very rude!
(Kyoka hits him with her jacks)
Kaminari: Ow! Well, we were all thinking it!
    Narration: No one disputed him.
  • The teachers give Izuku some guidance about how to manage his mumbling and note-taking, and Izuku is blown away by their accommodations. The vestiges are quick to snark about the contrast between U.A. and Aldera.
En: The bar is on the ground.
Daigoro: The bar has tunneled through to bedrock.
Yoichi: The bar is in hell. It's a tripping hazard for demons. Your former teachers are limbo dancing with Lucifer.
  • Nezu casually reveals to All Might that Endeavour is his next target for an investigation due to practicing Quirk-marriage. It takes All Might a moment for that to sink in before he unleashes a Big "WHAT?!" (along with a lot of blood).
  • Vlad King has had his class that includes Bakugo, Monoma, Kamakiri, and Mineta for less than a week and he has already turned to alcoholism to deal with his disaster class.
  • When Mei learns about the empathic bond she now shares with Izuku, her response is to declare that must be why she remembered his name and in typical Mei fashion, wonders if she could make a support item for the bond.
  • Ochako's father, Taiyou, is a good source of laughs from first acting like an Boyfriend-Blocking Dad when he first meets Izuku, to then quickly talking about the two getting married, causing the two teens' "souls to leave their bodies". Then there's when he sees how wealthy Momo's family is.
Taiyou: The Yaoyorozu girl is your good friend, right?
    Ochako: (nods)
Taiyou: Well, polygamy’s legal in Japan ever since the MLA uprising. Maybe you could get a throuple wedding?
Ochako and Izuku: LET’S GO SEE OUR FRIENDS!
(Taiyou gets Dope Slapped by his wife Hoshi)
    • What happens right after they go away from Taiyou:
Ochako: Oh god, that was embarrassing. At least-
Izuku: Nope. No one’s Tempting Fate today.
Iida: Midoriya-kun! An unknown visitor has been spreading slanderous accusations that the two of you were fornicating in the school!
Izuku: Never mind, looks like it’s happening anyway. Iida-kun, I’m assuming you’ve been talking to Mei?
  • When Monoma reveals his plan for all of 1-B to work together in the Sports Festival, Bakugo accuses them of trying to "ride his coattails", an idea Rin immediately mocks.
Rin: Please. If we wanted to do that, we'd go for Todoroki. Since he's, you know, the actual top student in our class? And at least he knows how to shut his mouth.
Bakugo: The fuck did you just say to me, Skin Peeler?
Rin: (Completely unimpressed) Also, he's smart enough to be able to learn our names.
  • Daigoro tries to encourage Izuku about having a Battle Harem in chapter 9.
Daigoro: Come on, man! You’ve got four lovely ladies who like you! That’s everyone’s dream!
    Yoichi: Not everyone’s.
Daigoro: Well, everyone who’s attracted to ladies, at least. It could be four guys! Or for you, Number One, I dunno, a bunch of comic books and some really good pasta?
Yoichi: ...Damn, that DOES sound nice.
  • Before the Sports Festival the school sets up a sparring session between Class 1-A and Class 1-B, that Vlad King justifies this way:
“Consider this your audition for the Sports Festival. Two years ago, a First Year student’s lack of Quirk control caused them to lose their uniform and flash the nation on live television. Since that incident, we’ve been doing these preliminary spars to test our Hero Course students before we show you off to the world.”
    • The situation makes it obvious it's actually Nezu trying to see if Bakugo and Mineta will give him an excuse to expel them... But the fact he's using Mirio accidentally getting naked on live TV makes the excuse even funnier.
  • Izuku's first impression of Mineta goes about as well as one would expect, especially since Izuku has an empathic bond with some of the women he's ogling.
Izuku: (to the vestiges) Is there a way I could kill him and make it look like an accident? Asking for a friend, who is me. Yes, I’m just joking. Unless...?
  • In their match, as payback for groping her (which also gives Nezu the excuse he needed to expel Mineta), Momo hits Mineta with a water balloon filled with butyric acid and capsaicin (functionally a stink bomb and pepper spray), reducing Mineta to a screaming, vomiting mess. Eraserhead has to move the rest of the matches to a different gym while a hazmat team is sent in to decontaminate the room.
All Might: Recovery Girl will handle it.
Recovery Girl: I ain’t going near that shit. *
All Might: The medic-bots will do the best they can.
    • The next chapter reveals that Mineta was sprayed with a high-pressure hose.
  • Bakugo's failed attempt at trash-talking Ochako before their match.
Bakugo: Get a good look at your little girlfriend’s fat face. When I’m done fucking it up, it’ll be unrecognizable.
Ochako: Shut your hate-hole you little...
And what followed was a string of creatively mashed-together expletives that would have started wars, ignited generational conflicts, and curdled milk.
    • Afterwards, only Izuku is unaffected while everyone else is horrified (Tenya actually goes catatonic). Aizawa isn't sure whether to punish or congratulate Ochako while Vlad King is ready to send her a fruit basket.
  • Nezu takes great delight in telling Karen Mineta how screwed her and her son are.
  • Nezu quite casually mentions to Bakugo that 'as a treat to himself' he's going to grab his good wrecking ball and personally demolish Aldera Middle School during the night.
  • When the Vestiges and Izuku begin to discuss Izuku's Love Epiphany, they are suddenly joined by another voice - Ochako's, who asks who's saying that Izuku loves her back. While Izuku has a Deer in the Headlights look and Ochako freezes, the Vestiges become alarmed - before En pounces on Ochako's accidental confession, clearly giving a smug grin even though Izuku and Ochako can't see him.
Daigoro Banjo: Man, there hasn’t been a dull moment since the little guy got our Quirk. Wish we could still eat, I’d have a big ol’ tub of popcorn right now.
  • While talking about the possibility of forming a polycule, Tsuyu mentions that she could easily see herself dating anyone in the bond, except Mei because she doesn't know her very well.
Mei: Oh! That reminds me, Tsu-chan, I finished that waterproof suit-heater for your outfit today!
Tsuyu: Never mind. You're officially the best one here, ribbit.
  • When it's only the Second and Third holders left to form a bond through, the Second tries to deny it will ever happen.
Yoichi: Izuku had no input, and the girls had no input beyond interest, and none of us were involved in the decision making process. Do you think your reluctance matters?
    Two and Three: Fuck.
    Daigoro: That'll happen later.
Izuku tried not to scream at that.
  • After testing the Bond's effects, Nezu theorizes that Ochako's Bullet Time was possible because she was in a life-or-death situation. Izuku agrees, but also states that they cannot rely on it, lest they find its limits in a dangerous situation.
  • Then as Nezu wonders what would happen if they unlocked a hypothetical third stage of the bond, Mei intervenes.
Mei: So, what do you think would cause a Stage 3 Bond to form? (Izuku, Ochako, and Momo blush, Tsuyu laughs, Melissa sighs, Mei looks confused) What did I say?
Toru: You’re not that naive, are you?
Mei: Oh, you mean we’d have to fuck! Awesome!
(all decorum gets ruined, Tsuyu, Toru and Melissa start laughing while Momo and Izuku blush even more and Ochako floats herself to the ceiling)
    • After Izuku floats up and brings Ochako back down in a Bridal Carry, Mei mentions she wants to try that. Izuku agrees, expecting he'd be picking her up, only for Mei to easily lift him into the position in her arms.
  • How Mina convinces Eijiro to join the tournament: threaten to destroy all his hair products.
  • Izuku's explanation of how he got Nedzu to investigate Endeavor in exchange for him shortlisting certain potential internship offers.
Izuku: The devil is a small white-furred mammal of indeterminate species, and I may have accidentally made a deal with him.
  • During the first tournament fight, Monoma runs out of Quirk time and manages to touch Izuku - only to find out too late that Izuku's Quirk is a stockpile Quirk, leaving Monoma with a useless Quirk and in easy reach of Izuku.
  • In the author's note for chapter 13, Shoto asks how exactly All Might became Izuku's stepfather.
Izuku: Well, I confronted him at an inconvenient time, told him my tragic backstory, and he basically instantly became attached.
Shouto: ...Does this mean you're going to be my stepdad now?
Izuku: At this point, I kind of want to say yes.
    • Then this conversation actually happens while they are waiting for the medal ceremony, and Shouto calls Izuku "dad" - before offering never to call Izuku that as long as Izuku doesn't call him Todoroki. Izuku accepts - and Shouto calls him "Izuku-nii" (big brother).
  • Izuku brings Akira to talk with Eijiro and Tetsutetsu. The three quickly hit it off. Izuku wonders what he has unleashed on the world.
  • When Ochako pulls off her Comet Tail attack by floating a massive glacier up into the air before dropping it onto Todoroki, Present Mic and Eraserhead are completely shocked and possibly a bit terrified.
Present Mic: Eraser, what the hell are you teaching these kids?!
Eraserhead: You think I’m capable of teaching someone to do that? I don’t know whether that’s a wholly unearned compliment or if you haven’t been paying attention to anything I’ve done since we were in high school.
  • When Izuku states his intent on making sure all of his classmates (1-A and 1-B) can be ready to become the next Symbols of Peace, Akira, Eijiro, and Tetsutetsu agree on something.
Eijiro: Gentlemen, I think we have just witnessed peak manliness.
    Tetsutetsu: Zen manliness.
    Akira: The Buddha of manliness.
Shinso: The word ‘manliness’ has lost all meaning to me.
    • This gets even funnier when, sixty-one chapters later, it's revealed that the trio actually bet that Izuku was a bodhisattva of manliness.
  • Toru ends up being extremely excited when she first learns about how the Bonding aspect of One For All works, to the point of wanting it to ding her. Her phrasing ends up leading to everyone giggling, and she admits it sounded much dirtier than intended.
  • On their first date, Izuku learns that a number of people have stood Tsuyu up before, calling her appearance weird:
Izuku: Do you have names? I just want to talk to them.
Tsuyu: Izu-chan, ribbit, no. You can't become a vigilante over my past.
Izuku: It wouldn't be vigilantism. A pipe wrench isn't a Quirk.
  • The Pro Heroes actually make a Side Bet over who Izuku is involved with. Specifically, Gang Orca is betting on Izuku x Tsuyu, while Shishido's betting that Team Asui are a polycule. Guess who will win.
    • A later chapter reveals Mt. Lady bet on Yui. Much like Gang Orca, she's not happy to learn Shishido won the pool.
  • During Endeavor's musings after the Sports Festival, he comes to the correct conclusion that Izuku is All Might's apprentice, before adding that Izuku might also be All Might's secret love child.
  • Due to the properties of the bond, all the girls are getting a boost to their physical abilities, so Mei and Melissa begin to nerd out at the idea of Ochako using her Quirk to send things into orbit. Toru jokingly complains about falling for a bunch of nerds.
  • Momo gives everyone a debit card for a joint account so they can go out on dates without worrying about money, explaining that the money comes from the proceeds of Momo's father selling the shares he had on Detnerat. When she reveals how much money there is, Ochako straight up faints.
  • When Setsuna idly wonders how the speech Izuku made to Todoroki at the Sports Festival got leaked onto the internet, Izuku, Midnight, and Aizawa all finger Nezu as the culprit… which is immediately followed by Nezu turning on the intercom, just so everyone can hear him laughing maniacally.
  • Before the internships start, everyone gets a panic button that will send their name and coordinates to all of the UA staff along with all of classes 1-A and 1-B. Izuku warns everyone to only use them if necessary and to not treat them like a toy.
Itsuka: Was that the lecture you were given, Midoriya-kun?
Aizawa: No. He was told to stop running headfirst into certain death, please use this instead.
  • After Izuku's kerfuffle with Sir Nighteye ends with the latter gifting the former a limited All Might action figure, Izuku believes it has to be the weirdest start to an internship in his class. Cut to Tenya's internship with Gran Torino.
  • While interning under Sir Nighteye, Izuku is warned to make sure he uses his panic button as a first resort rather than a last resort. The very next scene has him use it when he meets Overhaul and Eri.
Sir Nighteye: It hasn't even been half an hour.
  • Isamu's reaction when Izuku bonds with Nejire.
Isamu Mitsunami: My turn, then. Of fucking course. Should have known this was the rat’s plan.
  • Eri asks for "the big man with sunshine hair and button eyes" (Mirio) and "the fluffy green man with the big black ropes" (Izuku). Mirio laughs as he pets Izuku's hair, agreeing he's pretty fluffy.
  • Yoichi loves memes.
Yoichi: Oh my God, he has Air Pods in, he can’t hear us!
    Daigoro: Must you?
Yoichi: I died memeing the first time, I'll die memeing again.
  • Ochako asks Izuku for help in dealing with Nejire, who is as hyper as ever after bonding to Izuku - even giving him The Glomp the moment he enters the room.
Izuku: Why doesn't Danger Sense work for this?
Hikage: She doesn't mean any harm.
    • She also turns to be the kind of person that crushes on someone at the drop of a hat - having begun to crush on Ochako almost from the moment she met her.
    • After Izuku explains that he can bond to eight people maximum, Nejire has an opinion.
Nejire (on a polycule being made of more than nine people): And I think the bedroom would resemble a game of rugby more than anything.
    • Ochako and Izuku trying to decide who to blame.
Ochako: If my internship goes south, I'm blaming you, Izu-kun.
Izuku: I'm blaming Nezu. He was trying to lead me towards this.
Ochako: On the one hand, I'm kind of concerned about the power you attribute to the principal. On the other hand he is responsible for a lot of this sort of nonsense.
Izuku: I caught myself before I started praying to Nezu once. I think this is how cults get started.
  • All Might's ringtone for Nezu: a variant of his Character Catchphrase, only it blares "Nezu is here!". The narration makes it obvious it wasn't All Might's choice.
  • Ryouji teases Izuku about the possibility that Bubble Girl could be the last Bond, citing how similar his Quirk is to hers.
Izuku: She’s an adult, a pro Hero, and she’s currently teaching me. That’d be weird.
Isamu: Chief, why? We don’t even swing that way.
Ryouji: Teasing the younguns is a duty that surpasses orientation.
  • Gran Torino suggests that next time Iida thinks "outside the regulations he's so obsessed with", he not go after a known Serial Killer. Iida responds that his thought process must have been compromised from taking several blows to the head recently (i.e. Torino kicking him multiple times in the face). Torino thinks it's Actually Pretty Funny - and promises to destroy him in their next training session.
  • After Izuku's run-in with Toga, Nighteye tells Izuku that he's not doing any more patrols, and going to be learning the rest of the week. Izuku agrees that's more than fair, since two villain run-ins in one day is enough for him. Nighteye counters that two villain run-ins in a week is more than enough.
  • Tsuyu compares Eri to a narwhal, causing all the other vestiges to wall off Yoichi because he won't stop singing this song. Yoichi fires back that it's been stuck in his head for 200 years.
  • The way Gang Orca reacts when he finds out he lost the "who Izuku is dating bet" to Shishido. He takes a long swim in the ocean to relax, fights a great white shark, and scares the crap out of Innsmouth into surrendering.
  • Overhaul's death is darkly funny as it is ironic that the Neat Freak man got his head shoved in a toilet, drowning in dirty toilet water.
  • When Aizawa meets Inko, he tells her that, the moment the dorms option came up, Power Loader made a presentation (complete with slides and graphs) on why Mei should stay in 1-A's dorm. Inko then devolves into a mutter storm like her son to help him plot a routine for Mei, causing Aizawa to realize "the world suddenly made sense".
    • Aizawa also mentions that, when he learned that 1-A's dorm would also have Izuku's Battle Harem living there (including Support student Mei and 3rd Years Melissa and Nejire), he went to Nezu to explain his reluctance for this. Nezu just laughed out non-stop for twenty minutes before dismissing Aizawa.
  • When Izuku mentions how all of his girlfriends are going to share the same floor as him, he also mentions his belief that Nezu is allowing it because it's the closest to a social experiment he can legally conduct.
  • Melissa finally arrives to U.A., and Toru realizes one thing after the former corrects one of Mei's designs.
Toru: Holy crap, she can save us from Mei-splosions?!
Izuku and Ochako: Why couldn’t she have come here sooner?
  • When Ochako brings up how Mina and Setsuna got Kyoka to use a speaker so they could hear the boys' conversation about the girls, Izuku finds amusement in the irony that the two completely missed how Eijiro and Tetsutetsu were interested in them.
  • Dabi's internal monologue upon meeting the League is worth some laughs.
Dabi was debating whether or not to bail. This group might be useful for his purposes, but it was also clear that their leader was bugfuck insane, what with wearing a goddamn severed hand on his forehead.
Then again, Dabi’s face was literally stapled together, so who knows? Maybe they had some common ground.
  • When the students see that they are going to face the teachers for their end-of-term practical exam, Mina and Eijiro groan as they hand cash over to Denki, to Tenya's shock.
Tenya: Gambling has no place in such an august institution as U.A.!
    • Then All Might shows up and announces he'll be the one testing Izuku and Ochako.
Izuku and Ochako: ... We're fucked.
  • When Toshinori was being looked at, Recovery Girl tells him that she was not going to lecture and hit him, to his relief. Then Inko shows up, complete with Battle Aura.
“Toshinori-san~” Inko said, with a cheerfully ominous tone.
    All Might gulped, “Y-you saw?”
“I saw everything,” Inko said menacingly.
    • And when All Might begs Recovery Girl to save him, she plays the old-woman-with-hard-of-hearing card before leaving him to his fate.
  • Denki's attempt to come up with an idea on how to beat Nezu.
Denki: So, we probably won't be in a position to outfight him, and we definitely can't outsmart him. But maybe, just maybe, we can out-stupid him.
    (Beat)
    Melissa: What.
    • Then Melissa explains why that wouldn't work: they’re the stupidest students of the Top hero School in the world, which still makes them smarter than a good percentage of the population and are therefore not stupid enough to capitalize on it.
  • After Melissa’s bond goes to Stage 2, and Toshinori is able to communicate telepathically with everyone, with them expressing surprise that he isn’t dead, Toshinori suggests otherwise.
Toshinori: And I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m not dead. Apparently, when she is enraged, Inko-san unconsciously uses her Quirk. And several bones in the human body count as ‘small objects’ that she is able to move...
  • When All Might meets the other Vestiges, Ryouji reveals that he and Isamu are married. Then Yoichi mentions they need to teach Toshinori the mental separation techniques, saying that he, Ryouji and Isamu developed them back when the latter two joined the mindscape... only to realize just then why Ryouji and Isamu were so keen on the matter.
Isamu: Aaaand now he realizes why we developed it.
Ryouji: It's everything I could have wanted! Totally worth the one hundred and fifty year setup!
  • The Vestiges take to discuss Izuku's classmates' relationships, because, as Nana points out, they need something to gossip about now that all the bonds are filled out.
  • When Eri stays at home with Inko, Toshinori and Aizawa, Toshinori ends up laughing because Aizawa had to step out for drinking too much coffee.
  • When wondering why Nezu was spending so much money on Izuku, Toru says it's because Izuku is a teacher's pet.
Izuku Wait, no, that actually makes sense. It’s not metaphorical. Nezu literally sees me as his pet.
  • When Gran Torino first meets Izuku, the latter wonders how Tenya survived him for a week.
  • After Yoichi appreciates how gorgeous the girls are:
Hikage: I thought you weren't into that?
Yoichi: What? I can appreciate beauty without sexual attraction. Do you want to fuck a sunset?
Ryouji: All right, which one of you fuckers taught him that language?
    (Isamu sighs at the irony)
  • When Izuku first meets Sero, he goes on one of his mumble storms over his Quirk. In response, Sero answers the one question he understood and hands a 500-yen coin to Kaminari. When Tenya starts yelling about the impropriety of betting, Sero sighs and passes Kaminari another 500-yen coin.
  • When Star and Stripe finds out that Melissa and Izuku are dating (and are in poly), she quickly notes how Izuku calls All Might "dad" while Melissa calls him "Uncle". Melissa quickly realize what she is implying before she continues, with the Japanese Mei and Izuku being left in the dark.
Star and Stripe: What would you call this, then? An Alabama Smash?* (starts laughing)
    Melissa: (blushing) CATHY!
    Mei: Um, what?
Izuku: (blushing from earlier) I have no idea.
    • All Might tells him he'll explain later. When Izuku asks if he actually will, All Might states that no, he won't.
  • All Might confessing to Inko causes the latter to shed so many Tears of Joy that she triggers I-Island's flood alarms.
  • Pony manages to score a date with the Mexican student Tigre, a jaguar mutant.
Kyoka: (somewhat concerned) Wait, don’t jaguars eat horses?
    Pony: (grinning) If I’m lucky.
  • When Mei is offered a chance to be in the Hero course, she proposes her Hero name to be Babymaker. Nezu and Melissa immediately reject it.
  • When Toru and Izuku are on his birthday date, they briefly discuss Bakugou's fiery powers, and muse on whether his Quirk preventing any attempts at masturbating caused his anger issues. Both of them laugh, with the vestiges joining in.
  • After learning about the full truth about One For All, Aizawa heads to the coffee machine... and decides to skip the mug and drink straight from the pot. Afterwards, he thinks about all the plans he made to keep Izuku and his polycule from wasting time on romantic nonsense... only to realize that he now has to let them, as it’s critical to their Quirk development.
  • When Izuku doesn't recognize the name Spider-Man, Yoichi, Isamu, and Ryouji all agree they're in the worst possible timeline.
    • One of the comments points out that All for One could have helped suppress/destroy any and all pre-Quirk superhero material as a point of sheer pettiness toward his brother, which is later confirmed in Hikage's chapter in Kyuseishu's Heroic Analysis.
  • Todoroki bluntly revealing to his 1-B classmates that Izuku is dating eight girls. Tsuburaba attempts to be jealous, but is actually glad that someone is living the dream.
  • The helicopter Momo, Melissa and Mei put together to overfly the forest to training camp has speakers. Someone decides to have them play "Ride of the Valkyries".
  • At the start of training camp, Pixie-Bob tries to make eyes at 1-A's boys, only to find that all of them are taken and none of their girlfriends are appreciative of her attempts at flirting.
Pixie-Bob: (thinking) Screw it, the other class has to have some eligible bachelors.
    • The most hilarious one? Kinoko, who is just giving Pixie-Bob a Slasher Smile and daring her to give her an excuse.
  • The nonchalant way that Nezu reveals to Endeavor that, if the Chimera wanted him dead, the Hero would be gone.
  • Endeavor's reaction to the fact that All Might isn't Izuku's father.
  • As the Pussycats watch Class 1-B's arrival, Mandalay tries to calm down Pixie-Bob's eyeing (pointing out she already has the Pussycats).
Pixie-Bob: (eyeroll) You know I love the three of you to death, but we need another tomcat in our group! You all agree with me here!
Ragdoll: I do, but we don’t want accusations of grooming.
Pixie-Bob: But kittens need to be groomed!
    (beat)
Mandalay: Do you want me to repeat that back to you?
Pixie-Bob: Nope. Regretted it when it came out of my mouth.
  • Todoroki, again bluntly revealing information about the polycule, this time that Izuku can share his Quirk with girlfriends, and shocking his classmates. Monoma looks apopletic.
  • Yui decides take advantage of her Quirk level up to become an Ascended Fangirl:
Yui: One for All lets me grow and shrink things more easily and to larger and smaller sizes. Futatsuya-san’s Quirk lets me charge an object with energy and release it either as a slice or an explosion. I can make a giant mecha and use a finishing attack with it. I’m not letting that opportunity go to waste.
  • Toru decides to prank Eijiro, Kamakiri, Mina, Setsuna, and Tetsutetsu by going completely invisible (read streak) and scaring them, and recruits Izuku. Their scare was so successful that it causes Power Incontinence in the victims - and it triggers Toru's Bond Level 3. Which leads to Izuku actually seeing her completely starkers, as her upgrade lets her choose who can see her. And then the two of them realize that now there is nothing keeping Aizawa from going full tilt with their training.
    • What happens then: One for All-boosted Nejire harries the rest of the Ennead with MUCH faster versions of her usual attacks that she can keep up almost indefinitely, being compared to a "perpetual motion machine". It's to the point that Eijiro thinks it's "a bit too manly".
  • After the sobering conversation between Hisashi and Endeavor on what to do about the impending public reveal of his domestic abuse, it takes a turn for the hilarious when Endeavor inquires about Hisashi's current situation.
Hisashi proudly shared a photograph with Endeavor. It was him with a group of five women around his age, all of whom were looking at him longingly.
Endeavor: (blinks) Are... are you certain that you and your team are merely friends?
Hisashi: Well, yes?... I mean, I’m a divorcee and as close to a deadbeat dad as you can get. There’s no way women as wonderful as them would be interested in that...
    After the conversation ends:
Endeavor had a number of thoughts swirling through his head, but with that last revelation, one thing stood out.
The rumors about his son’s rival in the other Hero class had merit.
  • Before the attack at the Training Camp, Dabi has another of his hilarious monologues of Black Comedy. While counting all the capabilities of the members of the Vanguard Action Squad, he reminds to himself to stay the hell away from Shin Nemoto/Inquisitor and his Confession Quirk.
    • He then thinks to himself over how sweet it will be to get revenge against Endeavor. The following narration:
(Dabi, along with the rest of the Vanguard Action Squad, would not be watching television or accessing the Internet that day in preparation. He wouldn’t see what the news cycle would be obsessing over prior to their attack. It wouldn’t be pretty when he learned.)
  • While it may be a dark scene, during Izuku's capture by the League of Villains, Shouto calls Izuku, Izuku-nii, which causes Dabi (AKA Touya, his actual brother) to do a double-take.
  • Dabi ranting that Endeavor revealing his mistakes ruined all of his plans is worth a chuckle.
  • All For One is so dramatic he has a Quirk to give him theme music.
    • Made better when Izuku just no sells its intended effect, gives him a deadpan look and nonchalantly greets him by his real name - causing said Quirk to Record Needle Scratch.
  • Mt. Lady, one of the rescue team members after Izuku's kidnapping, is revealed to be one of the heroes who betted on who Izuku would be dating, something she reveals after realizing she had lost the pot to Shishido as well (having bet on Yui). Tsuyu nonchalantly realizes why Gang Orca was acting so oddly, while Momo is very mortified that professional heroes were betting on their dating lives.
  • One of Izuku's new Quirks, Quirk Understanding, keeps popping in with information when either the Vestiges or the Ennead asks something about the new Quirks - even when they don't want it to reply. Several readers it to Clippy before the following chapter showed how apt the comparison was.
  • The author jokes that All Might has finally mastered being a parent - after he says the raid will begin in a minute, it actually takes half an hour before it starts.
  • When Izuku snarks about the above "just a minute" as the Hideout Raid begins, the casual way he and All Might were clearly continuing a prior conversation about the current event triggers a Precision F-Strike from Shigaraki. Izuku immediately responds with a bit of gamer terminology purely to send him into an apoplectic fit.
    Shigaraki: What the absolute shit?!
Izuku: *taps temple* Team chat's been enabled the entire time.
  • The Hideout Raid sees Isamu and Ryouji point out that while they'd be fine with Izuku turning the villains into a red mist, doing so while news choppers are watching would see him crucified by the media. Daigoro proceeds to take a shot at his predecessors.
Daigoro: "My god, the edgelords have learned empathy. It's a freaking miracle!
    • Immediately afterwards, the people connected to One for All hear the former two proceeding to smack Daigoro around for that one.
  • All for One tries to mock All Might, but it turns out he can't take it as well as he dishes it.
All for One: So, you and your vaunted successor require little girls to fight your battles for you, All Might?
All Might: Well, we needed someone with the same maturity as your apprentice, Mugen, but there would be ethical problems associated with hiring preschoolers.
(All for One blasts All Might away)
    ...
All for One: Oh, you poor deluded fool. Your mentor must be crying in shame right now. Of course, poor Nana had some worse luck than that.
All Might: Is this where you tell me that Tomura Shigaraki is Nana's grandson? Because I've been aware that he was born as Tenko Shimura since the USJ encounter.
All for One: (feels brain bluescreen) What.
  • It's implied that En picked up a sidekick called Kagami just for the sake of making an Incredibly Lame Pun*. When the Vestiges and the Ennead realize this, they let out a groan of pain (save for Momo, who considers it Actually Pretty Funny).
  • Due to its interaction with the other mental Quirks in One for All, Quirk Understanding gains a sort of sentience, and is able to speak with the Vestiges and the Ennead, stating that it will remain silent unless directly asked to explain a Quirk. Daigoro decides to test it.
Daigoro: Man, Blackwhip sure is a cool Quirk, isn’t it?
    Beat
    Daigoro: Hooray! Freedom!
  • When Aizawa saw that the girls had somehow managed to teleport to Izuku, the first thing he did was to crawl into his sleeping bag and curl up in a ball. He hasn't left it since.
Nezu: The only thing he has said to anyone thus far is, ‘Nope.’ I believe Kan-kun left him the last of his liquor stash. He hasn’t needed it since Fuki-kun joined his class.
  • Izuku gives All Might part of One for All, as well as copies of a few extra Quirks. Of course, he does it by pulling one hair and saying "EAT THIS!". While doing his All Might face.
    • Among the Quirks All Might got? Bonding. Which promptly links him to Inko as soon as she walks in the room.
  • Nezu has custom laughing emojis that portray himself.
  • The revelation that a Stage 4 bond allows the vestiges to physically manifest is unwittedly tested when Inko arrives home and meets Nana in person. The Ennead remarks that she's getting better at dealing with this sort of thing after Inko manages to get out a welcome before inevitably fainting.
  • Momo now has the means to keep Izuku from tearing himself apart after a purposefully overpowered punch gave everyone phantom pains.
Momo: However, if you do anything like [destroying yourself for the sake of testing your Quirks] again, I will auction off that figure Nighteye gave you as an apology.
    Izuku: I'll be good!
  • Izuku tracks down Aizawa, and notes that the fact that the teacher has been moving around the building is progress.
  • When Aizawa complains that every time he takes personal time off there's always some sort of national disaster, Nezu sends Izuku a message telling him he'll force Aizawa to take a sabbatical.
  • Izuku summons En so Aizawa can meet him. En does his version of a Big Entrance just for kicks.
    • The vestiges can physically manifest within ten kilometers of Izuku, and for roughly half an hour. En states that this limitation is the only thing stopping Yoichi from popping into Tartarus and doing victory dances in front of his brother's cell.
      • Word of God is that they'd likely be Fortnite dances.
      • In Chapter 49, Izuku and All Might go to Tartarus because Izuku wants to try to heal Tsubasa, and Yoichi takes advantage of this to go Troll his brother.
Hikage Shinomori: [Yoichi] said something about cramming a fortnight’s worth of dancing into this session.
      • When Izuku mourns not being able to help Tsubasa in the next chapter, the vestiges tell Ochako and Tsuyu that they haven't been able to stop him. Daigoro states that not even Yoichi's singing was able to snap him out of it, "and that had All for One screaming."
    • Aizawa decides to take advantage of En's presence.
Aizawa: Any chance I could recruit you and yours into helping with our students' training?
En: Indeed. Hard part will be convincing Banjou-senpai to stop.
  • When Izuku and the girls see the same photo Hisashi showed to Endeavor, the girls comment that Izuku's obliviousness is clearly genetic. Tsuyu then bluntly points out that the women in Hisashi's team have the hots for him, prompting the women to show up and thank the girls for their help, while Hisashi goes catatonic for the rest of the call from the revelation.
  • Izuku asks Ragdoll about how Search works, and Ragdoll asks why he's asking her instead of Quirk Understanding. Izuku answers that QU is still learning how to explain stuff - and QU asks Izuku to thank Ragdoll.
  • Aizawa suggests using Blackwhip, Hadoken, or Laser Disc as the basis for Izuku's first super-moves, and Izuku goes into one of his usual mumblestorms.
Mandalay: Was any of that intelligible to you?
Aizawa: Some of it, and that scares the shit out of me.
  • Izuku casually name-drops Star and Stripe by her actual name. Mandalay has a Jaw Drop. Aizawa doesn't appear to care.
  • When 1-A does their joint "Plus Ultra" shout before the Provisional License Test, Inasa Yoarashi joins them, much to their confusion. Denki compares him to adding Eijiro and Tetsutetsu and multiplying the result by Tenya.
  • Setsuna points out that Yoarashi couldn't have been rejected by U.A. for self-destructive tendencies, because then half of 1-A wouldn't be there either. Toru agrees while giving a pointed look at Izuku.
  • Aizawa tells his students not to underestimate Yoarashi, because his power is no joke - cue the appearance of Ms Joke.
    • Ms. Joke wastes little time in bringing up her marriage offer. Mina, Setsuna, and Toru immediately Squee.
    • Aizawa is done as Ms. Joke continues.
Eraserhead gave perhaps the weariest sigh of his life, which, given how often he wearily sighed, was quite an accomplishment.
    • Then Ms. Joke gives her usual proposition to Eraserhead to get married, and something in him snaps.
Aizawa: Y'know what? Fine. Let's give it a shot.
      Ms. Joke: Wait, what?
Aizawa: You've been asking me out for years. Might as well give it a try, see what I've been missing.
Ms. Joke and all his students: (Stunned Silence)
Aizawa: Should've done this years ago.
      • Of course, as soon as she recovers, Ms. Joke decides to have the last word.
Ms. Joke: Oh no, Eraser. You agreed to give it a shot. This is happening. Don't bother trying to wiggle out of this. I've been waiting for years!
As she dragged the insomniac into the testing site, Eraserhead mourned his terrible, terrible decision making.
  • Yokumiru Mera, the HPSC Head of Provisional Licensing, is a veritable source of sour snarking.
    • He notes that his job is pretty much a dead end within the HPSC, but he's "technically" in the running for being the next president if a majority of the Commission got killed or incapacitated in some way. In the author notes, Griffin guesses that this is maybe how he became acting President in canon.
    • He ruminates over the "suggestions" he got from the HPSC President: find some sort of leverage over Izuku and the Ennead. Which he notes is akin to suicide with extra steps.
    • He hopes he'll be able to get some decent sleep after the exam and telling the President that he couldn't follow her "suggestions".
Another day or two of uninterrupted consciousness and he’d be seeing the face of God.
  • When 1-A meets Inasa after the first half of the exam, he's still as pumped as ever. Setsuna looks at Mina, and both girls look at Eijiro and Tetsutetsu.
Setsuna: Is there something in the water that produces more of you?
  • After Tenya tells Inasa that he can learn from his mistakes, the latter punches himself in the face, enthusiastically makes a formal greeting to 1-A and bows to them - cracking his head again.
  • Toru feels insecure after meeting Camie Utsushimi, feeling that her Quirk is closer to En's than her own, but both Izuku and the Vestiges reassure her that she's the better choice.
Yoichi: I don’t think I could stand being connected to someone who unironically says ‘lol’ out loud.
    Ryouji: You goddamn hypocrite.
Yoichi: Every time I’ve said it out loud was an attempt to deliberately make someone cringe. In most cases, you and Isamu specifically.
  • During the second exam, Izuku heals a fake victim's real health problems.
"Victim": Huh, you actually fixed my back! Gonna have to cancel that chiropractor appointment.
  • When Gang Orca attacks as part of his fake Villain thing, Tsuyu leads the defense.
Gang Orca: Ah, Froppy! Fantastic to see you here! I was hoping that you and Kyuseishu would face me today.
Tsuyu: Sorry, Gang Orca-chan, ribbit, but Kyuseishu’s too valuable for rescue duty to spare. Not that I won’t have others to back me up.
Gang Orca: That arrogance will be your downfall, Froppy. The two of you were once my ticket to riches beyond belief, but your actions have cheated me out of a rightful payday, so I’ll have to extract my pound of flesh.
Tsuyu: Bold words for someone who can easily lose his privilege to Eri photos, ribbit.
Gang Orca: (All pretenses of acting gone) You’re bluffing.
Tsuyu: Am I? I recorded a video of her dressed in your merch, saying hi to you. She called you Uncle Orca. It’s weapons-grade adorable, and if you don’t surrender, I may just delete it.
Gang Orca: Men, get her! I’ll give a 50% bonus to anyone who can retrieve her phone!
  • His sidekicks' reactions:
Sidekick 1: Are they serious, or is this just a bit?
Sidekick 2: I have no fucking idea.
Sidekick 3: Neither do I, but I’m treating this as seriously as a heart attack! Papa needs a new pair of shoes!
    • And then the poor guy gets knocked out by Yui.
  • Yui becomes a full-on Henshin Hero.
  • Ms. Joke tricks Eraserhead into letting her send a selfie of the two of them along with their new status. Eraserhead gets a lot of messages after that.
Ms. Joke: So, what’s going on?
Eraserhead: I keep getting texts from Past Mic.
Ms. Joke: You mean Present Mic?
Eraserhead: Not when I’m through with him.
  • Tsuyu getting to be with Gang Orca as a work study isn't funny by itself, until Toru asks her what picture she sent him. Doubles as heartwarming because Eri with a bunny is always adorable.
  • The only reason Izuku is with Ochako and Nejire... the rest got outvoted.
  • As Nejire, Ochako, and Izuku are relaxing in the lounge of Ryukyu's agency, who shows up? Mirko, who's implying that the only reason she's there is to take a shower. Her immediate reaction upon seeing Izuku there? Challenging him to a fight.
    • Ryouji tried his best to pump Izuku up and he just can't finish it.
"That’s no way to think about this! You’ve got the best fucking power there is and your determination will see you through this- I can’t believe I managed to get this far," the second host of One for All descended into gut laughter. "Your ass is SO grass."
    • The fact that Nejire pulls her phone out to record the sparring match.
    • Rumi is chewing out Izuku for his lack of fighting ability and Ryukyu for taking him on when Ochako suggests Rumi take him on. She wants to deny it... until Izuku opens his mouth.
Feeling the pressure on Ochako made Izuku want to take the heat off of her. So, he channeled what he could from Ryouji and Daigoro, the uncles with the biggest mouths, as well as a heaping spoonful of Bakugou. "So, is that because you suck at teaching people?" Then he regrets it immediately.
    • What follows is Rumi trying to show why she could be a good teacher only for Izuku to counter each point, from him being Quirkless, to All Might sucking as a teacher. It ends with Ryukyu actually threatening to not allow them to spar with each other if she took him on to get Miruko to take Izuku on.
  • When Toru, Setsuna, and Mina learn about the MLA's propaganda on Izuku, they keep using the word "murderboner", much to his chagrin.
Setsuna: We are erect with rage!
  • The fact that Izuku knows Nezu's species is spreading as a rumor - so now he has fun by telling people he's a different creature each time.
    • What he told Shoto: a chinchilla. The fire-and-ice user actually tries to pet Nezu to test the theory.
  • Even Proper Lady Momo has her limits.
Momo: Now, I will say that I have benefitted a great deal from working with Yoroi Musha. He is a veteran of the industry with a great deal of experience. He has taught me a great deal about Quirk use and quick thinking on the battlefield... I’m merely saying that, if I saw him bleeding out on the street, I would certainly help him, but not before delivering him a swift and solid kick to his codpiece.
    • It's later revealed that her faint praise of Yoroi Musha caused him to fall from the Top Ten list.
  • Mina's shipping name for Tenya/Ibara: Vine-Powered Engines. Itsuka tells her to workshop it a bit more.
  • After delivering news that Izuku's counter-campaign is becoming successful, Skeptic has something new to share with Re-Destro.
Skeptic: Someone is investigating the finances of Shoowaysha Publishing.
(Re-Destro's Quirk flares up, causing his entire face to turn black)
    Re-Destro: (icily) What.
Skeptic: (shrugging) Your day was already ruined.
  • Fumikage and Reiko spend their time in one of the trees, holding hands and saying ominous things to people passing by.
Itsuka: I love those two edgy dorks.
  • Compress receives a call.
    Compress: Be quick about it.
Giran: I’d have thought you’d be more theatrical about it, Compress.
Compress: Ah, Giran! Sorry, I get so few callers and none are as pleasant to converse with as you!
Giran: Glad to hear I mean so much to you.
    • The reason why Compress didn't join the League: Shigaraki decided he had no more vacancies in his team.
    • Giran warns Compress about Toga. When Compress asks for advice on dealing with her, Giran just drops "Try not to bleed."
  • Nezu brings up a new schedule for the first-year students. When All Might expresses surprise that they are learning about them so close to the end of the year, Present Mic points out that at least they are not getting them on the day the schedule begins.
    • Nezu reminds the teachers to focus on inter-class cooperation instead of rivalry.
Vlad King: I always think some healthy competition between our classes does them good. Keeps them striving to be the best they can be...
      (Beat)
      Everyone else: Monoma.
Vlad King: All right, you have a point. I’ll tone it down.
    • Nezu mentions that, since Izuku is going, Eri will go as well, and so will Inko.
Midnight: Oh, are you giving All Might and Inko-chan a tropical honeymoon~?
      (All Might almost coughs blood)
    • Nezu mentions that they need two more chaperones for the travel. Power Loader doesn't want to - because the fact that Mei will join 1-A is vacation enough for him.
      • Nezu's solution for choosing the chaperones? Deathmatch. All Might isn't certain if Nezu's serious or just messing with them.
  • When told that 1-A is going to Kuraudo Island, Koji drops a Big "WHAT?!" and faints.
  • Izuku's clearly having a blast finding people who act like Kirishima and Akira. One of them does the "Spiderman pointing" meme pose with Akira.
  • Pony and Tigre coming up with kanji for their partner's first names are heatwarming and funny. The funny part is that Pony's kanji for Tigre are "Fear", "Blood", and "Rip" or "Tear".
  • During the cultural festival, Eri manages to use her adorableness to get half a dozen candy apples from her adoptive family.
  • When Tsuburaba is happily boasting about all the phone numbers he got from girls while working at his class's butler cafe, Shoto casually walks over to the trash and dumps two large handfuls of paper with contact information on them. The others chuckle that it's a cruel irony their most eligible bachelor isn't remotely interested in relationships.
  • After weeks of throwing himself (and Dabi) at Gigantomachia trying to earn his loyalty, Shigaraki finally snaps at the giant that AFO was out of commission and wasn't coming for him. Gigantomachia falls into line soon after. Dabi is not amused.
Dabi: (glaring) You couldn’t have come up with that speech weeks ago?
Shigaraki: Bite me, you overcooked chicken nugget.
  • El Popo's last (legal) visit to Japan was mired because he traveled with his own weight in peyote.
  • When one of the Santo Kaliman students turns out to have a shark mutation Quirk, Yoichi drops the "sharks are smooth as hell" meme, only for Izuku to point out that shark skin is actually like sandpaper. Yoichi decides he should have left that meme buried, causing Ryouji to exclaim it's a miracle.
  • Izuku strikes again when he asks Hugo Cabezón (whose Quirk lets him share skills and knowledge between people) if people can retain the shared skills through practice. Hugo becomes horrified when he realizes he had never come up with the idea.
  • Monoma meets a Xavier Academy student... who turns out to be pretty much his American counterpart. Monoma proceeds to complain about the guy to his classmates, who just smirk at the irony of Monoma dealing with someone like him and his complete lack of self-awareness.
  • Takashi and Nezu debate the new Hero Billboard and the ideas the former has to keep the HPSC off Izuku's back.
Nezu: I notice that you’ve included setting up an Ennead agency for all nine of them. Staking your claim on the entire group early?
Takeshi: The Business Course bows before the sacred rule of ‘dibs’.
  • Izuku and Momo's outing is ruined when Maria and Mina scream as they run away from Lupita while Pony flies behind them, casually sipping a drink.
  • While 1-A, Santo Kaliman and the animals summoned by Koji dedicate themselves to pound Dawson into the ground... Denki dedicates himself to film the entire thing.
  • When Jurassic Mark mentions that now they have two new Quirked animals, Izuku correctly guesses the second one is Zuzu-chan (Eri's Zuniceratops friend) on the basis that it was the option that would cause the most possible problems.
Jurassic Mark (to All Might): Please tell me these kids have trauma counselors. Preferably more than one.
    • Then the students begin to commiserate about their Sadist Teachers and how they would have forced them to start working on reconstruction immediately.
Jurassic Mark: All right, seriously, are you kids getting enough therapy? Whatever amount you have, you should double it at minimum.
    • In his letter to Nezu after the kids leave Kuraudo Island, he tells the principal he should up their therapy at least ten times what they're getting now.
  • After Monoma finally has his Heel Realization and asks Shinso what he can do now that he's realized this, Shinso states that he's only managed to finagle his social skills up to 'functional'.
  • During a break from their reconstruction work, Cesar sets up wrestling matches with Eijiro and Tetsutetsu - that evolves into sessions of boasting. While Ochako and Lupita arm wrestle, which is remarked to be more physically taxing than what the three Large Hams are doing.
  • Pony decides to kidnap Tigre to make clear her frustration with him that he hasn't tried yet to kiss her. Their kiss is interrupted by Izuku and Yui, prompting Pony to kidnap Tigre further into the forest.
  • Nine thinking that the first-year U.A. students in Nabu Island will only be a potential hiccup. Poor idiot...
  • One of the training teams at Nabu Island contains Fumikage and Shishida. Kamakiri complains about it before Itsuka dope slaps him.
  • When Izuku's team is the one in charge of manning Nabu Island's Hero Agency, Monoma states that the task of filling out the paperwork is simple enough. Shouto checks it over and tells him he filled most of it incorrectly.
  • As Eri quickly rambles out on the teams doing training exercises, Hikage comments on her learning that from Izuku, while En jokingly calls Izuku a bad influence on Eri.
  • When Mahoro calls to tell the team that her brother Katsuma is lost, Monoma begins to monologue about copying Earphone Jack and tracking the boy between them both. Eri informs him that Izuku ran out of the door while Monoma talked.
  • Mahoro rants about Izuku taking too long (five minutes) in finding Katsuma. The Vestiges quickly compare her to Kota.
  • When Monoma civilly comments on Mahoro doing a fake call to check how long it would take them to find her brother, the Vestiges wonder if they are dealing with an impostor.
  • As Izuku's team gets ready to train against another team, Izuku warns his team (particularly Akira) not to respond to Hitoshi. When Akira complains that he can stop himself, Shouto replies that, when Hitoshi said "knock knock" in a previous spar, Akira immediately asked "who's there?".
    • Also, Kyoka's plan to deal with Momo: throw Izuku at her and hope for the best.
  • Nine and his crew begin their attack just before the training exercise begins.
  • When Nine attacks Eri and the Shimano siblings in order to force Katsuma to let Nine steal his Quirk, Eri drops two Precision F Strikes in a row.
    • Why she did it is also hilarious: Momo told her that Yakuza words shouldn't be used in polite company, but Ochako also told her that villains and jerks weren't polite company, so she should be fine in making them uncomfortable.
  • At the end of Chapter 64 with the fight against Nine's squad over, Monoma ends up revealing that he's also gained his own variation of One for All's Bonding... with Aoyama being the first. Cue Face Palm by Izuku.
    • Things takes another level of hilarity in the comments, where user CasualShowOff points out the fact that Monoma is essentially the 10th holder of One For All in a way. And then griffinguy24 realizes that Monoma's full name fits in with the numbering scheme of One For All's holders by complete accident:
      griffinguy24: *starts to speak, stops*
The "to" in Neito can mean ten...
And the fact that he's the first of a new line can also fit with "Mono"...
      Holy shit, it fits!
      • In addition to this, this means Monoma managed to in his own way, accomplish in less than a year what Mugen has tried and failed to do for almost two centuries and gain access to One For All!
  • In Chapter 66, Momo accidentally reveals that she still doesn't quite understand what constitutes an appropriate gift. The Christmas gift she bought was three bars of gold.
  • When everyone throws her a surprise party, Ochako immediately attacks Izuku (the person closest to her) and puts him in a hammerlock before realizing what's going on.
  • In Chapter 67:
    • When Izuku tells the teachers that Nezu is a tiger quoll, no one believes him because of how he keeps telling his classmates about a different species every time he suggests it.
    • Seeing Izuku's reaction to Mt. Lady's uniform, Ochako requests replicas of it for all the Ennead girls.
    • During his mock interview, Izuku mentions the "clench your buttcheeks" quote from All Might. The retired hero Face Palms when he realizes that's going to be his legacy.
    • Shishido the Lion Hero tries to compliment Izuku, saying he's a fellow lion. Izuku... completely misinterprets it.
Izuku: So you're saying I'm a deadbeat that my girlfriends will have to put up with until they've had enough and kick me out to fend for myself?
    • Gang Orca and Shishido acting like Vitriolic Best Buds.
    • The Meta-Liberation Front finally discovers that they're being investigated by the Yaoyorozu Group, with Hisashi Midoriya being the one leading that charge on the operation. As a result, they send numerous assassins after him to get him out of the way. What makes this funny is that Hisashi KEEPS SURVIVING these attempts, and even manages to take one down without using his Quirk at all. Apparently, he considers them "bargain bin assassins", and was not too impressed with the car bombs by one of them.
  • In chapter 68, the Tea Spillers do what All for One and the MLA have been trying to do for literal centuries in a matter of weeks: they collapse Hero society by airing ALL of the HPSC's dirty laundry. Nezu laughs maniacally at the sheer irony of the fact that, prior to the release, he was contemplating how EXACTLY he'd get rid of the Hero Commission.
  • Chapter 69:
    • Beginning from the title: Nice.
    • Amongst the shows Izuku passes through while switching channels, one is about a man who spent an year at college because of a horse, and some kind of slasher movie starring a killer truck. Yui teleports to the room and asks Izuku to go back to the movie, in order get rid of the the stress. A couple of the lines from such movie:
Character 1: - think that truck may be trying to kill me…
Character 2: It’s the same truck that killed my dad!
    • Izuku met Mirko's mother, Juri Usagiyama, during the New Years Eve party, and the older woman quickly befriended Inko and Mitsuki. He also mentions that despite being a very sweet old lady, she has a foul mouth capable of rivalling Ochako and reminds Izuku of Gran Torino.
      • Juri is so feared by her daughter, that as soon as Izuku mentions that she wants Rumi to call her, Rumi drops her annoyed expression and fearfully promises to do so.
    • Izuku gets to throw a big zinger at Death Arms and Slugger when he sees them in a group of Pro Heroes that are attempting to threaten a crowd of peacefully protestors.
Izuku: Might as well not count Death Arms and Slugger. Odds are good they’ll say their Quirks aren’t suited for this and stand there watching.
    • Ryouji and Isamu join in teaching 1-A on Heroics, and Izuku's team has gone first. Now, it's the turn of a team with Tenya.
Tenya: Well, we are at a greater advantage than the prior team, so we must make the most of it.
Ryouji: You’re the guy that Gran Torino took on for internships, right?
      (Tenya and All Might tremble)
      Tenya: I... yes, that’s correct.
Ryouji: I’ve seen that guy’s training firsthand. He’s a lightweight.
Tenya: Oh. I suppose we must walk towards our doom.
      Ryouji: Yes, let’s.
      • The General Education student that volunteered to act as the hostage then asks if she can reconsider her role. When All Might tells her he'll make sure she gets credited, she just says that she needs the boost to her marks.
  • At some point Eraserhead put up a board in the 1-A common room reading "X Days Since 1-A Had Villain Trouble". The record currently stands at seven days.
  • When Neito comments on who he's bonded to, Daigoro shows up all of a sudden to get Neito to spill the beans. Neito replies that he won't because of the lesson he and En pulled on 1-B — which somehow ended with Neito dangling from a crane.
    • Yoichi appears next, and Neito complains because his guest lectures on Art History were worse.
Neito: Do you know how difficult it is to find your sources?
    • Next to pop in is Nana, who has yet to give lessons to 1-B.
Neito: You're not off the hook just because you haven't taught us yet, Nana-san.
Nana: Noted. But if you don't spill, Ryouji's gonna come out next.
      (Neito immediately spills)
  • Chapter 71:
    • Nezu is very upset about the MLA uprising, but less for the reasons a normal being would be so:
Nezu: And to think that Einosuke Yaoyorozu sent me the report five minutes before the first explosion! Immediately after receiving the ironclad case from Hisashi Midoriya! I was about to send the first APB and gather trustworthy Heroes! I was going to sack Deika City! I was going to take out the transforming wrecking ball mecha that I’ve been having Power Loader, Mei-Day, and Shieldmaiden craft! It was going to be its inaugural debut! They took that joy from me! The Unpleasantness I was to wreak was ruined! The Meta Liberation Army will pay for this!
    • Yui may be able to conceal it well, but she is very angry over the MLA running her Valentine's Day group date. So much that, as soon as a group of MLA soldiers pops up wanting a fight, she grows to 10 meters tall and just trashes the guys up.
    • Skeptic thought he had everything in the bag: with his control over satellites and several engines of war, he believed victory for the MLA was certain. But part of his plan caused the Internet to be shut down, just the same day a popular Otome game was going to be published... a game La Brava (whose birthday is on Valentine's Day) was really looking forward to play. Cue Skeptic being on the sorry end of La Brava's digital No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
    • While the chaos is going on at the outside world, Dabi and Canopy are stuck in an underground chamber waiting for Tomura's procedure to be complete. Canopy is absolutely done with Dabi's complaints, saying he is even worse than Rappa.
    • Nobukazu Sashikuchi (Fingers) is still little more than a jealous, whiny bully who thinks he's hot stuff because he sided with the MLA, and brought most of his former classmates in a group to attempt to show Izuku "who is the boss" again. Sixty seconds into the fight, Itsuka Kendo shows up, destroys him (while he notices how hot she is), and Izuku shows up... for all of five seconds, all of which were spent helping Kaminari before Kendo told him to keep going. He ends up acknowledging that Bakugo was right in calling him an extra before fainting.
    • Re-Destro's complete humiliation. He went to attack All Might and Inko, thinking he would be able to break the former and kill the latter, to both inspire his followers and take out Izuku's loved ones. Instead, he begins finding himself at the end of All Might's delightful "The Reason You Suck" Speech, gets Trash Talked by Isamu's projection (who tells him that Destro killed himself because he was afraid of becoming someone's prison bitch, and that he intends to collect on the 1500 yen Destro owed him - with interests), Inko rips out all of his teeth one by one, All Might destroys his armor, and Inko finishes him off by pulling on his kidney before punching him in the same place.
      • Adding insult to the injury, the whole thing was being recorded by a drone. Instead of a glorious display of victory from the leader of the MLA over the former Symbol of Peace that would inspire generations after the revolution, the end result is the Second Meta Liberation Uprising being associated with the image of a housewife punching a supervillain in the kidney to save All Might.
      • Overlaps with Heartwarming, but after the fight ends, All Might decides it is the best moment to propose to Inko. The poor woman faints from the question.
  • Chapter 74: In a really dark way, Tomura's method for learning what his new Quirks do. He simply bribes each Quirk vestige with time beating Mugen's vestige in exchange for telling him how they work.
  • Chapter 75: Eri mimicking Momo saying “indubitably” (which only happened once) during her tea party results in "In double lilly!" and Eri is adorably annoyed with Tohru taking pictures of her; when Tohru insists that it's something all parents do and that her parents have brought a whole album of her baby pictures to show off, Star and Stripe and Miruko share a confused look, clearly wondering how one takes baby pictures of an invisible child.
    • Miruko intends to wear the dress Momo made for her to wear during the tea party out on patrol, clearly relishing the idea of getting a chance to indulge in Kicking Ass in All Her Finery.
  • Chapter 76: After Izuku's explanation of the story of One for All and All for One, there's a moment of silent tension... before Denki immediately asks Shishida about how the bets are going to be settled. Turns out, with the exception of Iida and Ibara (and the Ennead, obviously), everyone in 1-A and 1-B was placing bets on what Midoriya's deal was.
    • When Ibara suggests that the proper penance for the bet is for every bet to be aired up, she's said to be smiling in a saintly manner, specifically like a saintess known for her vengeance against the tribe that killed her husband.
    • Most of 1-B bet on the classic "All Might's secret son" theory... except for Todoroki, having learned the truth all the way back during the Sports Festival.
    • Awase, Kaibara, and Kamakiri thought Izuku had forced his Quirk to manifest—or "badassed his Quirk into existence", as Kamakiri put it.
    • Kuroiro, Reiko, and Tokoyami (naturally) bet that Izuku had made a pact with eldritch beings and had spent quite a while trying to figure out the specifics. Shinomori tries to toss them a bone by noting that Blackwhip does have some eldritch aesthetics.
    • Mina, Sero, and Tsubaraba voted extraterrestrial influence.
    • Kaminari and Shouji put their money on Izuku being a demigod, the former gunning for Zeus but willing to accept other deities.
    • Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, and Akira thought Izuku was some kind of bodhisattva of manliness, sent to Earth to guide others on the path to enlightenment.
    • Shishida awkwardly admits that his theory was that Izuku had volunteered for an experiment run by Nezu, and rattles off the students who put their money on it—and at the end is Mirio, of all people.
    • In the end, Amajiki and Kendo were the only ones who got close; the former bet that he was actually Quirkless and had figured out a way to fake it while the latter bet that he was possessed and channeling the Quirks of the deceased.
  • Chapter 77: After Yui helps Mt. Lady defeat Gigantomachia, Izuku asks Yui to marry him.
Izuku: If I see my girlfriend beat up a villain with a giant robot, she’s my fiancée now. Those are the rules, I don’t make them.

Unstable Compound

  • Bakugo lampshades just how ludicrously plain looking Taro Sato is.
[He] called people extras all the time, but this guy epitomized the concept. If there was a second person sitting there, this guy would get lost in the crowd.

Kyuseishu's Heroic Analysis

  • The narration opens with Izuku's comments to whoever managed to decode his journal.
So, you’ve managed to crack the cipher on this notebook. There's three possibilities for how that happened.
First possibility, you’ve legitimately cracked the code, and haven’t managed to get stuck on the three dead-ends built into it. Well done. I’d say you’ve earned it. It can’t have been easy.
Second possibility, I’ve given you the code, which means I’m probably dead or dying and have decided to reveal my secrets rather than take them to the grave. If that’s the case, I hope that I’ve lived a long, fulfilling life, or, if not, that I died saving people.
Third possibility, hello Nezu. Hope you enjoy the read.
  • By Yoichi's account, his brother just liked the sound of "one for all and all for one" and had no idea that it was from The Three Musketeers; Mugen never finished a book in his life.
  • Much like ol’ Web Head would do so to other people, Izuku gets corrected during Hikage's segment that Spider-Man's name has a hyphen after writing it down as "Spiderman".
  • Yui was elated to learn how influential Toei's Spider-Man was on the tokusatsu genre. Izuku comments that they may never get her to stop calling herself "an emissary of hell" now.
  • In the notes on Daigoro Banjo:
    • Izuku mentions that Banjo was the first to get hurt using One for All - he pulled a tricep.
    • When speaking about how he passed One for All to En, he mentions he would have been unable to use hair due to being bald, only to fall quiet when Izuku points out he could have used his beard.
