Goin KABOOM! is a Danny Phantom and Animaniacs crossover collaboration fanfic written by both NeoMark and Flower princess11.

While Sam and Tucker are out of town, Danny comes across a new girl, Katie Kaboom, who just moved in. They hit it off quickly and at first, it's all well and good. That is, until Katie starts to become a little too affectionate. To make matters worse, a monster has appeared in town. Once Danny learns there's a connection, that's when he realizes how much danger he's in.

Now has a sequel, GK: Katie's Quest.

After the tumultuous events of the first story, Katie is plagued with volatile powers and a broken heart. She goes on a quest to conquer her monster side while navigating high school, teen issues and so on as she hopes win the heart of the boy she loves, Danny Fenton.

    Goin' KABOOM!
  • Abhorrent Admirer:
    • At first, Danny is flattered and very accepting of Katie being interested in him. As time went on, her interest in him becomes more clingy and smothering, making him slowly stop being flattered and wanting to get as far away from her as possible.
    • Katie gets her own in the form of Dash Baxter as she's repulsed not just by his bullying, but how rude, dumb, and obnoxious he is.
  • Absurd Phobia: After her interactions with Chicken Boo, Katie is afraid of chickens in general. Danny even lampshades how absurd and funny it is.
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: In this fic, Minerva Mink and Chicken Boo are results of Acme Labs' experimentation like Pinky and the Brain are.
  • Adaptational Badass: In Many Dates, Danny was completely helpless against Katie's monster form. Here, he can fight her well enough and eventually overpowers her.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In Many Dates, Katie's monster form is nigh-invulnerable (even being able to shrug off Danny’s ghostly wail). Here, Danny can fight her off well enough, sends her flying with his punches, and eventually curb-stomps her once he adapts.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • In the fanfic After Many Dates of Danny Fenton, Danny takes any chance to get as far away from Katie as possible without trying to explain himself, talk to her about her powers, or find a way to neutralize them, deciding to let people like the Guys in White deal with her instead. Here, though he still wants nothing to do with her and is scared of her after discovering her monster side and clinginess, Danny at least decides just running away is too cowardly and works to find out more about Katie's powers and potentially how to get rid of them before breaking up with her. He even begrudgingly admits that for all of Katie’s faults, she isn’t inherently a bad person while his Many Dates counterpart initially deemed her as crazy as Vlad and just a monster. Though this can be justified in that Many Dates Danny saw Katie transform in front of him and he wasn’t sure if she was oblivious to her destruction or just that callous. Here, he knows she’s oblivious.
    • Katie also shows more restraint with her temper in public, which better matches to the canon series (as depicted in a comic) than Many Dates (where she turned into a monster in front of Danny when their reservation was cancelled). Though in both instances, Katie wasn't aware of her transformations and no one ever had the courage to tell her, but here she at least acknowledges she has anger issues and tries to keep them under control.
  • Accidental Kiss: Danny and Katie have one at the end of their first date, due to Tinker accidentally knocking her into him. While Danny is flustered, it just makes Katie even more interested in him.
  • Accidental Public Confession: When talking about Katie with Pinky, Danny ends up ranting about how much he wants to break up with her, which is overheard by Katie herself.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: While she still loses her temper, Katie, who doesn't believe in ghosts yet, thinks the idea of a town whose claim to fame is being haunted with a ghost playing superhero is laughable.
  • Adaptational Species Change: In the original show, Katie’s powers were never explained, while Flower princess11’s fics based on "After Many Dates" and other inspired works have made Katie a mutant. Here, it's the result of a family curse.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Katie has a couple for Danny, such as "Sweetie" and "Pookie-Bear".
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Subverted. Katie would pick Nice Guy Danny Fenton over Jerk Jock Dash Baxter any day of the week regardless of how attractive Dash is.
  • All Women Are Lustful:
    • Katie falls really hard for Danny and it doesn't take long for her to smother him in hugs and kisses. She seems to get worse the longer they are together.
    • Tiffany isn't much better in this department, given her own clingy behavior around her husband
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Katie falls in love with Danny very quickly, and while he likes her at first, it becomes a big turn off for him as she becomes more and more clingy.
  • Ambiguous Innocence: For a while, Danny isn't sure if Katie is oblivious or indifferent about her powers. He confirms when talking to Mr. Kaboom that obliviousness and memory loss are one of the curse's side-effects.
  • Anticipatory Lipstick: During her first day at Casper High, Katie applies some in hopes of kissing Danny during lunch time.
  • Arbitrary Scepticism:
    • Despite living in Acmeville, Katie doesn't believe in ghosts until she sees one with her own eyes. Averted with her family, who believe in ghosts (probably because, unlike Katie, they can remember when she's Hulking Out).
    • Averted with Danny, who doesn't have trouble believing Mr.Kaboom when he explains that Katie's powers are a result of a curse.
  • Appearance Is in the Eye of the Beholder: According to Brain, Danny is average in terms of appearance and has pasty skin. However, Katie finds him incredibly cute with dimples and great fair skin (not even Danny noticed that he has dimples).
  • Asshole Victim:
    • Monster Katie scares Dash to knock him out and nearly crushes him. Even Danny can't find an argument to save him. Hell, practically everyone who knows Dash hates him.
    • Later, Katie scares Paulina and Star. Every reader cheered for her.
    • The reason the Kaboom family curse was cast on them was because one of the Kaboom's ancestors left his fiancée on their wedding day for another woman. Prompting the intended bride's gypsy/witch mother to enact retribution.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Despite Katie's Comical Overreacting over any trivial issue with her family, they all sincerely love and cares about each other.
  • Bad Liar: Dash tries to lie his way out of trouble for bothering Danny and Katie at the bowling alley by claiming he was saving Katie from the "loser" Danny. Naturally, the security guard doesn't believe him for a second since he just saw Dash push Danny down and Katie already complained to the guard that Dash is a creep who was threatening her date, Danny.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Katie gets mad over any trivial issues, though to her credit, her encounter with Dash shows that she does try to mind her temper when she's out in town... but she nearly loses it after he pesters her and Danny.
    • Brain dismisses animal rights activists as idiots who embarrass themselves and the animals they think they're helping. This peeves off Sam.
  • Better as Friends: Danny and Katie decide this after their break-up. Though Katie is still in love with him.
  • Betty and Veronica: Sam has known Danny longer and likes him but has never acted on it (Betty), while Katie has met Danny recently and (for a time) went out with him (Veronica). Interestingly though, Sam is dark-haired and rich like Veronica while Katie is blonde and of an average household like Betty.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: During the end of their first date, Katie plants an epic one on Danny, much to his disbelief.
  • Blatant Lies: When Dash gets in trouble for harassing Danny and Katie at the bowling alley, he lies to the security guard by claiming he was saving Katie from the "loser" Danny but the guard doesn't believe him at all since he saw Dash push Danny down just now and Katie already told the guard that Dash is a creep who was threatening her date Danny.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Katie, just like in canon, isn't very easy for her parents to work with.
  • Brutal Honesty: When Danny finally admits he doesn't like Katie anymore, it's pretty scathing. He also admits he hates the nickname she gave him, "Pookie Bear", calling it stupid and embarrassing.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Everyone who gets on Katie's nerves are unknowingly doing this.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: Danny Phantom rants to Katie’s parents for just expecting him to handle her transformations given all the trouble she put him through. He also thinks that regardless of Katie’s obliviousness from the curse affecting her memories and putting her in denial, and their many failed attempts to record her in the past for proof, they still could have kept trying to make her believe, found a way to remove the curse, or at least tried getting Katie into anger management, and by deciding to just accept it, they have indirectly let their daughter cause trouble throughout the town and for him specifically. The Kaboom parents realize Danny’s right.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: When Danny finally decides to talk to Katie about her condition, he can't get the words out fast enough and Katie thinks he's trying to say he loves her.
  • Canon Foreigner: Katie’s cousin Tiffany appears in this fic. While she never appeared in the television series, Katie attending Tiffany's wedding is a comic story in the Animaniacs magazine. Just like in the magazine, she and Katie don’t get along.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Tucker. In fact, Sam's idea to make Katie want to break up with Danny is to have Danny do what Tucker does when he tries to get a date.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Katie towards Danny. It doesn't take long for her to become very possessive of him and she expresses jealousy when seeing his close friendship with Sam and even Valerie. Her clinginess is actually considered acceptable in Acmeville.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: Pinky, which is lampshaded by his partner-in-crime.
Brain: Pinky has his own way of thinking, not worth understanding.
    • Most characters from Animaniacs seem to be this by default, including Katie.
  • Comical Overreacting:
    • Just like in canon, Katie looses her temper over any trivial issue a teenager can face and becomes a monster.
    • Tiffany is even worse in this department as she can get angry even if her tea is too hot.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Danny tries taking Sam’s advice on making Katie break up with him, he screws it up due to his cluelessness. Such as having them watch a scary movie to make her scared (a typical method of getting your partner to cling onto you-which Katie does willingly) and calling her “Kates” in an attempt to sound arrogant. Everything else, such as mimicking Tucker's eating habits, Katie simply brushes off.
  • Compensating for Something: The Brain accuses Vlad of this when Pinky comments that Vlad's "place has tons more stuff and seems even bigger than Acme Labs".
  • Composite Character:
    • Katie seems to be a combination of both her counterpart from the Animaniacs (1993), as well as Fifi La Fume from Tiny Toons due to her aggressive and amorous pursuit of her love interest.
    • Mitch acts with Tiffany the way Danny feared he would have to act with Katie for the rest of his life during his dream sequence in Many Dates, including kissing his wife just get get her to calm down, which is what Many Dates Danny did to Katie once.
  • Cool Big Sis: When Katie saw that her little brother Tinker injured his leg, she helped him gets home, applied first aid, and even wanted to cancel her date with Danny (when even a ghost attack didn't stop her) if he didn't volunteer to help.
  • Conditioned to Accept Horror: Danny is bemused by how the other Kaboom family members act like Katie and Tiffany’s outbursts are normal and acceptable. When he runs off in a huff, Tinker doesn’t understand why he’s upset.
    • Subverted, as they are actually exhausted from Katie’s outbursts but deal with it because they are unable to get her to believe them due to of the curse’s effects.
  • Coquettish Lip Biting: Katie sometimes does this when she expresses her attraction to Danny.
  • Covered in Kisses: Danny winds up with his face covered in kisses by Katie at the end of their first date, much to his shock.
  • Cute But Psycho: Katie.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Zigzagged as Katie is cute in her human form...her monster form, not so much.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: Vlad doesn't like the use of the word "slave" to describe what he's doing to Katie. He prefers "to call it an unpaid internship and gaining a long term errand girl".
  • Dogged Nice Girl: If you ignore her monster side, Katie has problems controlling her hormones and temper as she can be pretty aggressive, but she genuinely is a friendly girl even when Danny doesn't reciprocate her interest in him anymore.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Brain gets annoyed with Sam pitying the experiments performed on him.
  • Dramatic Irony:
    • Danny frequently expresses worry over the monster that attacked appearing while he's with Katie, while the audience, especially those who have seen Animaniacs, know he's with that monster.
    • Sam, being a Soapbox Sadie as usual, wants to return the Hip Hippos to the wild, only making the same mistakes as Gina Embryo (another Soapbox Sadie and a parody of nature documentary host Joan Embree) from canon (Hip Hippos are anthropomorphic, very rich and want to live in the city). Jazz even lampshades that the hippos came to the zoo for a reason but Sam (as Gina) refuses to listen (much to everyone's annoyance).
  • Dude Magnet: Katie is considered to be a very cute and beautiful girl who Danny, Tucker and even Dash find attractive.
  • Dumb Jock: Dash as usual.
  • Embarrassing Nickname:
    • Katie takes to calling Danny "Pookie-Bear", something he's not very comfortable with but lets her use to keep her happy.
    • Later, Danny gives Katie the nickname “Kates” while trying to act arrogant so she'll leave him. She is just glad he has a name for her.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • While Katie might have her... condition, even she comes to dislike Dash due to his boorish nature and how he treats Danny.
    • When Danny decides to break up with Katie to protect her from his enemies, Sam cautions him not to "be like one of those creeps who runs away when it happens or break up with a girl on a text message or phone call". Sam doesn't like Katie but deemed those kinds of break-ups "too impersonal".
    • Despite how clingy and overly affectionate Katie is, she takes offense to Danny thinking that she wanted to have sex with him, saying that she intends to save herself for her husband.
    • Tiffany doesn't mind bragging about how happy her married life is, though refrains from potentially talking about sex around Tinker (who is a child).
    • Despite how desperate he is to be rid of her, Danny is unwilling to dump Katie once he notices she was frightened by nearby chickens.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: At first, Danny is very interested in Katie. This changes after some time.
  • Evil, Inc.: Acme Labs, which Sam despises for their horrific treatment of animals. In fact, it’s implied that all (not just Pinky and Brain) anthropomorphic animals in Animaniacs are the result of their experimentation. Two of which are Chicken Boo and Minerva Mink.
  • Evil Is Petty: When Vlad realizes that Danny wants to break up with Katie, he does whatever he can to make her even more interested in him.
  • Eyelash Fluttering: Katie sometimes does this when flirting with Danny.
  • Fatal Attractor: Danny.
  • Fatal Flaw:
    • For Katie (aside from her transformations and temper), it’s her clinginess and obliviousness over how uncomfortable Danny is around her, which causes her to fail to realize he’s trying to get her to dump him.
    • Danny’s is fear. Once he finds out about Katie’s powers, he becomes so scared that it doesn’t occur to him to try to take Katie some place isolated to break up with her, then calmly tell her about her condition afterwards. Word of God is that his mind isn’t calm enough at this time to think clearly. Such as being afraid Katie will expose him when he knows she doesn’t remember anything after he transforms.
      • In later chapters, Danny calms down enough to try talking to Katie and thinks to take her somewhere she can't cause damage first. Unfortunately, he keeps getting interrupted...
      • As Jazz points out, Danny is especially weak-kneed around girls, which made him envision Katie as extra scary due to her strong personality.
  • Fourth-Date Marriage: Downplayed and deconstructed. On their first meeting, Katie Kaboom and Danny Fenton are instantly attracted to each other and soon go on a date. While the first date seems successful, it ends with Katie and Danny having an Accidental Kiss... which soon results in Katie becoming wild, and it ends with Danny being Covered in Kisses, much to his shock. Danny becomes a little wary of Katie but still agrees to a second date with her and even to be her boyfriend after she asks him out, but later questions himself if it's too soon. Things become even more complicated when days later, Katie admits she has fallen in love with him, even though they have only known each other for a few days. Danny is understandably shocked but tries to make it work, even if Katie soon becomes clingy, smothering, and even gives him an Embarrassing Nickname to boot. However, Danny is initially genuinely attracted to Katie and enjoys their dates and making out with her. Eventually though, he grows very uncomfortable with how fast their relationship is progressing and exhausted by constantly making out and spending time with her, to the point where he ultimately decides to break up with Katie because he feels their relationship isn't working. Danny is initially hesitant due to not wanting to hurt her feelings but is encouraged by Sam to do so, and Tucker and Jazz just advise him to be gentle.
    • Things go From Bad to Worse when Danny discovers Katie's powers of transforming into a monster (the same one that has been attacking Amity Park and whom he has been facing). He's horrified at this and soon just admits that he wants to get as far away from her as possible, even calling her a monster in private. Some reviewers believe that Danny was being too harsh, but Flower princess11 answered a review stating that his reaction, while a bit extreme, is due to stress and shock... after all, it's been less than a week into the relationship with Katie saying she loves him, on top of the recent discovery.
  • Fourth Wall Breaking: The Warners do this when Danny finally meets them. Going as far as telling Danny that Katie is a caricature of a man’s teenage stepdaughter (her real-life inspiration) when he asks them what she is. They also reference the fanfic Many Dates and Danny's friendship with Deadpool in several After fics.
  • Freudian Excuse: It's hinted that despite her good looks, Katie wasn't very popular at her old school due to her condition.
  • Future Loser: Danny tells Katie that Dash bullies others because he knows he'll be this after high school so he's enjoying his Glory Days while they last. Katie just finds it pathetic that the Jerk Jock isn't even trying to make something of his life.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Before meeting Danny's friend Sam, Katie assumed Sam to be a boy.
  • Genki Girl: When in her normal form, Katie acts perky, cheerful and feisty.
  • The Glomp: Katie is prone to hugging Danny a lot.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Even at the end when everyone else now understands Katie's situation and at least sympathises with her, Sam still hates her and expects nothing but the worst from her, going as far as accusing Katie of trying to manipulate Danny into being with her when she arrives at his house to patch things up. However, this is really due to Sam's jealousy of Katie and Danny's connection, which Katie calls her out on.
  • Hate at First Sight: Katie quickly grows to despise Dash during their first meeting after seeing how much of a jerk he is to Danny.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: Katie is considered beautiful and Danny was attracted to her when they first met.
  • Henpecked Husband: Tiffany's husband Mitch. Though Mitch admits he loved her once, even proposing after just two weeks, he lost a lot of those feelings by the time of their wedding because of Tiffany's increasingly crazy attitude and her powers. He spends the entire time at the family dinner catering to her whims to keep her happy and the only reason they are still married is because Mitch is too scared of her transformations to reject her. He even personally warns Danny to get away from the Kaboom family if he values his life. Mitch admits to Danny he still loves Tiffany a bit but can’t see himself being with her and loving her like he used to as long as she turns into a monster. He is still shown to care for her, relieved that she was knocked out rather than injured despite Tiffany having transformed earlier.
    • Danny fears becoming this to Katie.
  • Hereditary Curse: Katie's powers are revealed to be a result of a curse from her father's side that only affects females born into her family.
  • Heartbroken Badass: Katie after Danny dumps her and she learns how he really feels and about her curse. However, Danny Phantom decides to train her to control her powers and be a superhero.
  • History Repeats: Mitch and Tiffany’s meeting is like how Danny met Katie, all the way down to both men loosing interest in them later on due to the women's powers and demanding behavior.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: Katie is a very boy-crazy teenager.
  • Hulking Out: Despite her human appearance, Katie has the ability to transform into a powerful monster when angered. It’s a hereditary curse on her father's side that her cousin Tiffany has as well.
  • In Love with Love: Ziggzagged. Katie wants her life to be like a romance novel, but she really does care about Danny and think he's the best guy ever.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: As usual, Pinky. He divulges information about their secret lair to Danny, much to the Brain's chagrin.
  • It Must Be Mine!: Vlad has only had eyes for Maddie ever since college 20 years ago.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy:
    • Tiffany, after discovering her curse, agrees to let Mitch live away from her for his own safety.
    • Katie tells Sam she'll accept it if Danny chooses her or someone else by the time Katie either gets rid of the curse or learns to keep it under control.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Katie and Tiffany both brag about their partners, embarrassing Danny and Mitch.
  • In the Blood: Mr. Kaboom tells Danny that both Katie’s and Tiffany’s transformations are hereditary from his side of the family. It's a family curse.
  • Irony: Upon learning of Vlad's 20-year-long obsession over Maddie, Brain says, "Only someone who is insane and bitter would obsess over a single, unachievable goal for that long". It's stated in the narration he doesn't see the irony.
  • The "I Love You" Stigma: Danny first realizes he's in over his head with Katie when she says she loves him on their second date.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Though blunt about it, Brain does have a point when telling Katie that, as good of a guy Danny might be, that alone shouldn't enough for her to automatically want him as her husband, especially since she’s still so young, and that she should look deeper for other options.
    • While Sam is clearly jealous and distrustful, she's not wrong that Katie shouldn't stack her hopes on getting back together with Danny as she works to deal with her anger issues and family curse, since there's no guarantee he'll want to be with her again considering everything she put him through. Katie concedes this, but explains her goal is to also become a better person and not have her curse continue to dominate her life.
  • Lampshade Hanging: The Warner Siblings acknowledge how long since the date of the first chapter in the real world before they were finally named in the story.
  • Laser-Guided Karma:
    • Dash gets thrown out of the bowling alley by security for harassing Danny and Katie.
    • Invoked. Danny wonders if his predicament with Katie is karma for sneaking into the girls' locker room.
    • While at a Kaboom family dinner, Danny (against his better judgement) decides to read Katie’s diary to find out what kinda guy she thinks he is to help him break up with her better. He HOPES it doesn’t bite him later…
      • When he accidentally confesses this to Katie, she gets mad but doesn’t transform because she now knows about her powers and is too upset.
    • Vlad kidnapped Katie and attempted to use her as a weapon. However, she ends up destroying his house and he ends up getting tormented by the Warners.
  • Let's Just Be Friends: Danny tells Katie this after things have calmed down between them.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: When Pinky brings up the time he and the Brain used to live with Elmyra, Brain reminds Pinky that they agreed to "never speak of that again".
  • Lighter and Softer: Katie and Danny end their relationship on WAY better terms than they did in Many Dates.
  • Likes Clark Kent, Hates Superman: It seems to go both ways in Danny and Katie's relationship.
    • Katie falls head over heels for Danny Fenton but her "other form" is more than willing to pummel Danny Phantom for getting in her way.
    • Danny is attracted to Katie's human form but is unaware that she and the monster he is fighting are one and the same.
  • Love Hurts: Katie is absolutely devastated when she finds out that Danny not only doesn't want her back, he can't even stand to be around her.
  • Love Martyr: Katie is hopelessly in love with Danny, who can barely stand her as she becomes more and more clingy. Danny, in private, calls Katie a monster when he discovers her curse, reads her diary to get a good understanding of how deep her obsession with him goes, and beats her up during one of her rampages and feels relieved afterwards. Despite all this, Katie defends him and STILL wants to earn his heart someday.
  • Love at First Sight: Katie and Danny meet in the park and seem instantly attracted to each other.
  • Love Hungry: Katie becomes fixated with Danny and wants his love.
  • Loving a Shadow: The Danny that Katie is in love with is a very idealized image, reinforced by misunderstandings and Vlad sending her gifts in Danny’s name.
  • Lust Object: Danny seems to be this for Katie, though she does care about him for more sincere reasons.
  • Mad Love: Katie is obsessively infatuated with Danny to the point of bordering delusion. Danny gets a good idea of how deep it runs when reading her diary in Chapter 33. He doesn’t like what he sees.
  • Make-Out Kids: Katie seems eager to become this trope with Danny.
  • Meaningful Name: Katie’s last name is Kaboom, and she “explodes” via turning into a destructive monster when angry. Though Katie doesn’t know that. Her ancestors actually changed their name to that after the curse was placed on them.
  • Meaningful Rename: It's revealed that Katie's family name was originally "Kent" but her ancestors changed it to "Kaboom" after they got cursed.
  • Mood-Swinger: Katie can act normally one minute then go back to being super clingy the next, and that's not putting her temper and powers into consideration. Danny admits that he likes her when she's in her "normal" mode, but he's scared of her destructive monster form and when she's not that, she can still be uncomfortably clingy and obsessed with him, which is a turn-off.
    • Tiffany is no better.
  • Mythology Gag: As expected, being based off Danny and Katie’s interactions in “Many Dates of Danny Fenton”.
    • Tinker breaks his leg, though this time it’s not Katie’s fault.
    • Tiffany and Mitch’s marriage is identical to the nightmare of Danny and Katie being married that he had.
    • Danny has a nightmare where he is forcibly married to Katie. Though unlike Many Dates, he wakes up before getting to the kids part.
    • Brain thinks that Katie's power is due to a mutation. In Many Dates, Katie is indeed a mutant.
    • After reading her diary, Danny finds a drawing Katie made of them having eight daughters. Again, like his nightmare sequence.
    • Katie has a dream where she injured her brother at a carnival with Danny, Tucker and Jazz present. Which is exactly what happened in Many Dates. She also recalls seeing a “blonde girl with a cape” which is a reference to Supergirl, Danny’s chosen girl in the sequel fic.
    • Once again, Vlad hits Danny with a ray that makes him temporarily lose his powers and interferes with his relationship with Katie.
    • Katie is afraid of chickens after her interactions with Chicken Boo.
      • Both Chicken Boo and Minerva Mink are indirectly mentioned as animals experimented on by Acme Labs.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In contrast to Many Dates Danny who is just happy to be free of Katie, Danny here feels some guilt when he sees Katie cry. His friends reassure him that it needed to be done.
  • Nerds Are Sexy: Katie has a big crush on Danny and it doesn't take long for her to ask him out.
  • Nice Guy: Danny.
  • No Guy Wants to Be Chased: Danny was originally flattered by Katie's advances but becomes wary when she gets clingy.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Katie becomes very touchy with Danny not long after they start going out, eager to smother him in her hugs and kisses at any given chance. It becomes a major turn off for Danny and makes him rethink their relationship.
  • No-Sell: Danny is unable to overshadow Katie. When he tries, he just ends up being bounced back and Katie barely feels a thing.
  • Not Good with Rejection: Katie doesn't take Danny saying he doesn't love her well.
  • Not So Above It All: Brain scolds Pinky for taking the time to look at his show on a streaming service getting updated... before looking at it himself.
  • Obliviously Evil:
    • Katie has no idea she becomes a destructive monster that Danny Phantom can barely stand a chance against when she's angry, or that Danny's not as interested in her as he used to be anymore due to the danger she possesses. When she returns to normal, she has no recollection of what she's done and thinks the destruction around her was caused by a ghost attack. Her family plays along with this for some reason...
    • Tiffany doesn't know she's a destructive monster and a torment to her husband and everyone else around her. Everyone is afraid to tell her that so she thinks the only evil thing she's doing is annoying Katie.
  • Pet the Dog: As obsessive and suffocating as she becomes, Katie's feelings for Danny seem to be genuine and it's implied that what she feels is more sincere than just a teenage infatuation, given that she has expressed concern for him when he's getting bullied and as shown during the dinner with her parents, Katie was listening to and knows Danny's hopes and interests. She also seemed to have recognized him in her monster form and momentarily calmed down when she came across him.
    • When Danny hears Katie talk about him to Pinky and Brain, he is touched by how much she sincerely likes him and thinks that if she just understood boundaries, they wouldn't have had issues.
    • Despite everything, near the end, Danny tells Katie that he's okay just being her friend once she mellows out and (as Phantom) decides to help her control her powers.
  • Please Dump Me: Danny tries getting Katie to dump him through various means, which don't work. See Comically Missing the Point above for more details.
  • Psychological Projection: As Jazz puts it, Danny made Katie scarier that she actually was to him due to his natural weakness around girls and her strong personality. Which only made it worse when he found out that she was the monster he had been fighting against. After fighting both her and Tiffany in their monster forms, and winning, Danny feels extremely relieved.
  • Rage Breaking Point: The A-listers unknowingly enrage Katie enough to morph when they bully Danny.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: Played with. Danny mostly forgives Katie after she mellows out and learns to control her powers but he makes it clear he doesn't want to be her boyfriend again, to her disappointment.
  • Secret Diary: Danny finds Katie's diary when he is at her house, left open, and he reads it so he can get a good idea of how deep her fixation with him runs. Katie is furious when she finds out what he did and says that no one else is ever supposed to read it.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Played for Laughs and drama at the same time. Katie Thinks Like a Romance Novel and every thought about Danny is very idealistic. When Danny reads her diary, he's freaked out because Katie interprets every moment as a romantic movie.
    • It's Played for Drama when it's revealed that the Kaboom's family curse seems to have an effect on Katie's memory, making her not only forget her rampages but also hard for her to remember what the area looked like before and/or believe it when her parents tell her what REALLY happened.
  • Selective Obliviousness: The curse that causes Katie to transform into a monster when angry not only affects her memories, but makes her oblivious to the destruction around her. Either thinking the damage is normal, it was like that before, or it was caused by a natural disaster (or ghosts in Amity Park). The effects of the curse, combined with any video evidence her parents had tried obtaining by filming her when rampaging getting destroyed, result in her not believing her parents when they tried to tell her in the past.
  • Sequel Hook: The story ends with Danny agreeing to help Katie learn to control her powers and Katie still hoping one day to earn his love.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When the Brain modifies Tucker's PDA so they can break into a place owned by Vlad, Tucker is so impressed he calls the former Mighty Mouse.
    • Katie having a dream of her actions in Many Dates is a reference to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness where it turns out people's dreams are them connecting to their alternate selves' lives in the multiverse.
  • Sickeningly Sweet: Katie's notes about Danny in her diary are so saccharine and idealistic that Danny nearly puked his insides out.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Katie quickly falls for Danny, thinking that he’s sweet, and it doesn't take long for her to ask him out.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis:
    • Katie and her cousin Tiffany have this kind of relationship to a T. Danny even thought that their petty squabbles is how Jazz sees him talking with Vlad.
    • The ending indicates Katie and Sam will be this over Danny's affections as Katie still hopes for her and Danny to reconcile in the future while Sam acts contemptuous towards her out of hidden jealousy.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: Again, Katie.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Once again, Katie as she becomes more fixated on Danny, up to the point where she sees nothing wrong with pouncing on him, smothering him in kisses and invading his personal space.
  • Stealth Insult: Tiffany and Katie throw these around each other these from the moment they meet.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: A meta example. Many reviewers asked the author why Katie’s family doesn't just tell her about her condition. It's revealed that Katie's parents HAD tried to tell her about her condition in the past but not only does any video/photographic proof they try to get always get destroyed by her rampages, even when they flat out try and talk to her about it, she doesn't believe them as a side-effect of the curse.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Though not evil, Katie does turn into a monster when angry (which thanks to her Hair-Trigger Temper happens a lot) but she’s still a genuinely nice, albeit overly clingy, girl and the fans don’t agree with Danny's views of Katie after he discovers her powers for the following reasons:
    • She’s genuinely unaware of her transformations and many reviewers say that Danny should be trying to help Katie instead of trying to get away from her.
    • Despite her powers, she's still a sweet girl and reviewers don't like Danny calling her a monster. One reviewer even "tells Danny" that real monsters are like Vlad.
    • A lot of reviewers also don't like how everyone in general is making assumptions about Katie and fearing what she would do to Danny if he breaks up with her instead of trying to reason with her. Especially since, again, she isn’t even aware of her transformations.
      • Downplayed with Danny. He is still exasperated with Katie for her monster transformations and her clinginess, and wants nothing more than to break up with her and never see her again. But he at least comes to acknowledge that the transformations aren’t her fault due to the curse, that she actually has some good traits, and decides to tell Katie about her condition so she can hopefully get some help, or at least learn to control her temper better (though he seems more motivated by saving the town than Katie’s well-being). By the end, he decides to at least try to be friends with Katie (as Danny Fenton) and teach her to use her powers for good (as Danny Phantom).
      • Totally averted with Jazz, Sam, and Tucker, who see Katie as just a monster. When Katie goes missing, Tucker even says that’s a GOOD thing since Danny won’t have to worry about her if she’s gone. Until Danny reminds him about her powers. While Jazz and Tucker seem to start coming around in the end after Katie sincerely apologizes, Sam remains hostile to her, though for more personal reasons.
    • While frustrated with Katie's parents for not doing enough to tell her the truth or control her, Danny pities their situation as well.
  • Take That!:
    • Katie says she'd like to live through every romantic comedy scenario except for two she considers clichés. One is two best friends from before puberty falling in love since she considers it "a lazy attempt at making a couple" and the other is when someone mistakenly believes their loved one is cheating on them.
    • To the DC Extended Universe. Upon Danny asking, "What's a Warner?", Yakko responds that it's someone who needs a cinematic universe that doesn't depend on Godzilla.
    • As a nod to the "This isn't a map" gag from the original series, the last chapter of the original story features a Take That to the infamous Warner Bros & Discovery merger and the numerous cancelled projects. Wakko looks at his phone and decrees it's going to be rough for them. Yakko realizes he's not looking at the news but a list of all animated projects cancelled by the merger. Wakko admits that's why he said it's going to be rough for them, referring to the animation industry.
  • Teens Are Monsters: Katie becomes a literal monster whenever she gets mad.
  • Tempting Fate: When Danny dodges a boulder tossed at him by Katie, he thinks there'll be no damage since they're in a barren area. Then the boulder hits Paulina's new car.
  • Thinks Like a Romance Novel: Katie seems to think her romance with Danny is a textbook romance story, not realizing he doesn't feel the same.
  • Third-Act Misunderstanding: One of the two things Katie doesn't like about romantic comedies is "the tired old third act misunderstanding where one person or the other mistakes their love interest is cheating on them".
  • Too Dumb to Live: Pinky and the Brain keep asking Katie what she sees in Danny in spite of seeing how furious it makes her. Danny even comments on how that was a stupid thing to do for a guy named Brain.
  • Too Much Alike: The main reason Tiffany and Katie don't get along is because they're practically identical in personality (both having anger issues doesn't help either). Although Tiffany seems to be worse, being more controlling towards her husband Mitch.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: The "typical" Animaniacs' weirdness is too much even for haunted Amity Park!
  • Two-Teacher School: Upon reading her schedule, Katie sees Mr. Lancer is listed as the teacher for most of her classes and assumes it "must be a typo".
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Tiffany and Katie are very powerful in their monster forms due to the curse but never had a proper battle, especially with someone who can fight back... which Danny exploits.
  • Unwanted Spouse: Katie wants to marry Danny already, but that is the last thing he wants.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Katie to Danny. Verbally abuse him or worse and you’re dead. She's also willing to fight Danny Phantom if necessary to protect Danny Fenton.
  • Values Dissonance: The Kabooms, and Mitch, are surprised when Danny says he can’t stand Katie’s clinginess, because that is apparently how most girls act in Acmeville.
  • What Does She See in Him?:
    • Some kids at Casper High, especially the A-listers, wonder why someone as pretty as Katie has feelings for Danny.
    • Brain, even knowing about Danny’s powers, considers him overall pretty average and tells Katie she can probably find someone better.
  • Woman Scorned: This is what Danny THINKS Katie will end up being if he breaks up with her. Though he was content with just letting her down gently before, after he discovers she’s the monster he’s been fighting, he goes into full panic mode and fears that if he breaks up with Katie, she will transform in anger and attack him. Worse, Danny's also afraid that when he transforms in front of her to defend himself, she will reveal his secret as revenge.
  • Worf Had the Flu: Danny met an Outside-Genre Foe in Katie and was very stressed out but as soon as he acclimated, he curb-stomped both Tiffany and Katie in battle.
  • Would Rather Suffer: The more Danny learns about Katie, the more he wanted to be a ghost's target if it means being away from her.
  • Will They or Won't They?: Will Danny go back to and love Katie at the end or will they just stay friends? They stay friends for now.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Danny fights Katie and her cousin in their monster forms and feels relieved afterwards. He realizes how wrong that sounds when he says it.
  • You Monster!: Danny has yet to actually say it to Katie but it's no secret that, regardless that he knows her transformations aren't her fault, he still considers her a monster. Part of this is mostly due to being exasperated by her clinginess. He eventually comes to the conclusion that, powers and clinginess aside, she ISN'T an evil monster.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: In the end, Sam is incredulous that Danny (as Phantom) wants to tutor Katie in handling her powers despite having been so eager to break up with her.

    GK: Katie's Quest
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Katie is ostracized at Casper High due to her failed relationship with Danny, to the point of Eating Lunch Alone.
  • Asshole Victim: Just like in the previous story, Katie transforms and goes after Dash for bullying Danny. Danny once again has trouble coming up with anything positive to say about Dash. In fact, they are more upset about Katie transforming than about her attacking Dash.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Dash wets himself out of fear when monster Katie attacks him.
  • Brutal Honesty: Katie's very open about her hatred of Dash as she only considers him a waste of space.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Despite how much Katie hates Dash for being a bully (especially towards Danny), she was dismayed to learn that she morphed and almost attacked him.
  • Hypocrite: Sam's refusal to address her feelings for Danny and jealousy of Katie cause her to be this.
    • Danny calls out Sam's refusal to even be nice to Katie when Sam's usually insistent on him helping people and doing the right thing with his powers. He also points out that Sam doesn't hate him despite knowing about Danny's potential to become Dark Danny, a monster even worse than Katie, but continues to vilify Katie based on her past actions even though she is genuinely trying to better herself. Sam only stubbornly says that Katie's situation is different.
    • Danny also calls Sam out on getting mad at Katie for attacking Dash by reminding her that she's felt like attacking the bully in the past.
    • When Sam accuses Danny of only helping Katie for her good looks, he reminds Sam that she hasn't showed the best judgment when it comes to dating either, given how easily she fell for Gregor.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Danny doesn't really have a rebuttal when Katie calls Dash a complete waste of space.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Katie has this reaction once she discovers she lost control and tried to attack Dash in her monster form.
  • Mysterious Middle Initial: The story features a therapist named Eri T. Shen.
  • Nice Guy: Unlike Sam, Tucker is at least willing to give Katie a chance.
  • No Sympathy:
    • Sam couldn't care less about Katie's struggles with her powers and social life, even telling Danny they have no obligation to help her.
    • When a guilty Katie returns home and confesses to her family about morphing at school and attacking Dash, Tiffany shows no sympathy towards her, something Katie's parents call her out on.
  • Oblivious to Love: Danny is frustrated by Sam's refusal to explain why she distrusts Katie so much, completely unaware of her feelings for him and jealousy of his relationship with Katie. Tucker internally bemoans how Danny's obliviousness is creating unnecessary tension between him and Sam.
  • Potty Failure: Dash wets his pants after getting scared by Monster Katie.
  • Punny Name: Katie meets a therapist named Eri T. Shen (irritation). She thinks the name must be a joke.
  • This Explains So Much: Danny thinks so upon listening to Mr. Lancer's rant about life being unfair.
Mr. Lancer: Miss Manson... you'll have to learn that... life isn't always fair. You'll have to learn to live with life giving you a bad hand. For example, I could've been married to my high school sweetheart and living in San Francisco... yet I didn't because she seemed to think my love for Shakespeare is obsessive... so she left me for another man and here I am slaving away teaching either future gas station attendants or people who may make more than me thanks to their family's connections WHILE SHE'S LIVING A HIGH LIFE WITH A BIG FAMILY AND-... (deep breath) And... I now realize that I owe my therapist an apology...
  • The Precious, Precious Car: Paulina's parents gave her a new car but, thanks to a boulder previously tossed by Katie, it's destroyed before Paulina has a chance to take it for a joyride behind her parents' backs.
  • Reformed, but Rejected: Katie does make a sincere attempt to control her curse but Sam still refuses to have anything to do with her.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Katie's parents call Tiffany out on her unhelpful treatment of Katie after the latter returns home from school and confesses to morphing and almost attacking Dash.
