Come at me!
Demon King Form
The protagonist. He is a normal teenager living alone when he is accidentally summoned into another dimension to aid the deposed Demon Queen Isabella Osa. He pretends to be Isabella's husband for her protection. Although he is initially viewed as worthless and feeble by everyone, Xiang Ye quickly proves himself in unique ways. He becomes the Demon King after marrying Isabella.
  • Accidental Marriage: When he bought a certain ring from a roadside stall, he was completely unaware he was volunteering to be the future husband of Isabella Osa. When he found out, he was tickled pink.
  • The Ace: In just four months of entering the Human Kingdom, Xiang Ye becomes the most accomplished student of the Forging class and one of the wealthiest merchants in the capital. He also becomes the champion of the Kingdom Cup Tournament. Eventually, Xiang Ye goes on to become one of the heroes who aided the Dwarf Kingdom against the invading Demons, and ends up becoming the Demon King himself.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: Forging with "useless lumber" is supposed to be entirely impossible by normal means, as chapter 112 reveals that Martin did indeed try to do so in his youth. Chapter 113 implies the ability may be unique to him.
  • Appropriated Appellation: He wears his status as Useless Lumbernote  with pride.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: To Yalu. "If this is just a match, then what about the forest fire and Half-moon mountain nearly claiming our lives!"
  • Awesome by Analysis: When he's under attack, he's very, very adept at studying his opponent's moves, powers, and skills, to find any weakness or drawback he can exploit. In chapter 385, he deduces Tols Angus's Achilles' Heel and exploits it to hit him with a nuke.
  • Back from the Dead: Isabella's God Tribe ancestor sends him back to the land of the living, as a human
  • Badass Boast: Once he learns about forging, that very night he makes this declaration to Isabella.
Xiang Ye: "But don't worry, you have me. I'll bring you back to your tribe, defeat the betrayer, and make you leader once again."
    Isabella (Clearly impressed): "Oh?"
    • He does it again in the second half of the tournament, while facing off against Tols Bushi as the latter is trapped in a microwave made of "useless lumber"
Xiang Ye: "Today, I will prove to all of you that forging can be used to counter-attack! And I! Am the juggernaut that you should be paying attention to!"
    • When Rennes expresses his intention to steal Isabella (a.k.a. Yi Bei) from Xiang Ye, the latter issues a threat:
Xiang Ye: "I originally intended to go easy on your donkey ass. But it turns out you've taken a shine on my wife! I'm telling you now... YI BEI IS MINE!
  • Badass Normal: He cannot wield Boundary Force, but his knowledge of modern weaponry makes him a dangerous adversary. He also discovers a way of using high level Elemental Powers via magic stones and scrolls. Xiang Ye also has the exclusive ability to forge Useless Lumber.
    • Later becomes Empowered Badass Normal after he marries Isabella and has sex with her. This causes him to inherit 80% of Isabella's power, and later has a strange dream of the Osa progenitor devouring him. The next morning, Xiang Ye wakes up to discover that his body has become muscular, his hair has grown longer, he has a purple horn jutting from his left temple, and has a tail. This transformation officially marks him as the new Demon King. Too bad he ends up losing the transformation after his revial.
  • Battle Couple: With Isabella. When the two of them do take the battlefield together, they cover for each other perfectly.
  • Best Served Cold: He gets even with Tols Bushi for the latter trying to trap him under the rubble of a glacier by trapping Bushi in a hollow, airtight dome of solid stone that the latter can't break through, and it's perfectly legal, since it's part of a martial tournament where Bushi straight up tried to kill him, in public. Tols Bushi breaks out of that with his One-Winged Angel, promising to straight-up murder him, but Xiang Ye traps him in a giant microwave and nearly kills him.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Xiang Ye is a goofy, perverted person who is friendly to everyone he meets. He is also the same person who will literally nuke any bastard who dares to steal his wife.
  • Beyond the Impossible: He finds a way to make use of "useless lumber." He traps Tols Bushi in a giant microwave oven, and turns it on...
  • BFG: He pulls out a Nuclear Bazooka and launches a warhead against Rennes. Although Xiang Ye contains the damage, it is enough to cause a powerful shockwave across the entire city.
  • The Big Damn Kiss: Finally happens in chapter 134, when he gives one to Isabella.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: He can summon a Laser Blade from his gauntlet palm. He first demonstrates this when he catches Rennes by surprise and severs his right arm and wing.
  • Blood from the Mouth: As a result of Rennes' barrage of high level magic. Not even his useless lumber Iron Man suit can nullify the impacts of the spells.
  • Briar Patching: What Rennes believes he was doing when he told the latter to use his dragon form. So he takes a nuke to the face, even his "Angel's Blessing" defense magic didn't help.
  • Brick Joke: Xiang Ye uses his fight with Nainai to advertise his brand of instant noodles. Several chapters later, it is revealed that Xiang Ye had tasked Nainai's teacher with the sale of instant noodles and other fast food products. The new business is lucrative.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Discussed. In the first chapter, some of the online chatter in the aftermath of the MMO Raid event says "he never takes this seriously, yet he's so damn good at this." Of course, once he gets to the Hullo plains, he's anything but lazy, and is very, very industrious, just shy of a total Workaholic.
  • Brutal Honesty: Though he regrets it later, he repeatedly reminds Isabella that she's powerless against the Human Tribe's "Red Dragon Clan" army, and lunging at them in her grief and rage will not only get her killed, but would trample the sacrifices of her loyal retainers who died trying to keep her alive.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: He is quite odd but is the most talented magic-forger Ashtone Martin, if not the kingdom, has ever seen and is considered a brilliant inventor by bringing modern Earth tools and devices into reality for public use.
  • Butt-Monkey: Things seldom go well for him for long.
  • Can't Act Perverted Toward a Love Interest: He decides to not peep on Isabella when she is bathing, reasoning it is better to let her decide to act on her feelings herself.
  • Character Tic: When he gets a perverted notion regarding a pretty girl, his nose flares and shoots out jets of steam, blood, or both.
  • Chekhov's Hobby: He says in chapter 1 that he is good at drawing. It turns out drawing is the essence of the human tribe's forging.
  • Chekhov's Skill: He disassembles the golems with a basic Forging skill he learned in class.
    • During the tournament, Martin had taught Xiang Ye the use if magic glyphs through alloy stones. Xiang Ye uses the same principle to create his automated forging machines.
  • Chivalrous Pervert: He is quite perverted, and enjoys fantasizing about pretty girls, especially Isabella. However, he is entirely faithful to Isabella and would never lay a hand on her without her consent, even if he wasn't rightly scared that she would literally tear him to pieces on the attempt.
  • The Chosen One: By virtue of owning a ring identical to Isabella's, he's the one chosen by the summoning spell to be her "champion." Though after he gets to the Hullo plains, Isabella and her aides point out that he's actually The Unchosen One as he wasn't the one who was supposed to be summoned, to his chagrin. Gradually, Isabella changes her mind. Later, it is speculated by Bai Envy that Xiang Ye might be the chosen one. After marrying Isabella, Xiang Ye has the dream about the Osa progenitor, confirming the hero's status as the chosen one.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He's not ashamed to fight dirty, or mean, if the situation calls for it.
  • Condescending Compassion: Defied. In chapter 128, he promises to get Eli's family a bigger house to live in, whether building it or buying it, Xiang Ye is certainly wealthy enough to do so, but specifies that Eli's labor will be collateral to pay for it, so that Eli can hold on to his pride. Eli is genuinely grateful.
  • Continuity Nod: Saves Isabella from a fall twice. The second time he is more effective due to his growth as a forger.
    • As payment for Eli's help in the God Tribe ruins, Xiang Ye constructs a splendid campus. It houses a school, an orphanage, and a fitness centre for adults, along with a large swimming pool. It makes Xiang Ye popular among the villagers.
  • Cool, but Inefficient: His first experimentation into "forging" used up a crystal with enough energy to build an entire house, with said crystal being worth enough currency to buy food for one man for 500 months. It's justified in that this loss helped establish the proper boundaries of the "forging" class and made him more able to adapt its use in the construction of modern tools and vehicles.
  • Cooldown Hug: Isabella accidentally activates her Superpowered Evil Side and starts rampaging the tournament arena. Xiang Ye immediately jumps in and tries to snap her out of it. When that fails, he forcefully kisses her for a while and that does the trick.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Justified. His wife, Isabella, is gorgeous, and she knows it. If it wasn't for the Marriage of Convenience he has with her, he wouldn't stand a chance. So when any other guy gets close, he gets... upset. Still, he's smart and patient enough to not lash out over it rashly. He knows his limits.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Xiang Ye uses his smarts and understanding of forging to win his tournament battles. This is most prominent in his fight with Rennes where Xiang Ye uses a low yield nuclear weapon. He expected Rennes to counter the explosion, and so he relied on the radiation poisoning to defeat him.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Aside from his great proficiency with the "forging" branch, he's all but useless. This was a major liability at the start of the story, and still gets him in trouble from time to time.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Perverted butt monkey he may be, but his confidence in his fighting abilities is well justified. With the modern tools and weapons he can bring to bear, he's more than able to beat all but the strongest of mages and swordsmen in a straight-up fight, and even the strongest have to really struggle, if not outright cheat, to win.
  • Cruel Mercy: Which he lampshades in chapter 148. He passes up several One-Hit Kill attack opportunities against Rennes, not just to collect data to improve his Humongous Mecha and Power Armor designs, but also to give Rennes a slow, painful death from radiation poisoning.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Believe it or not, he gets to dish one of these out when he defeats the Refining Teacher Yalu and his mooks.
    • Gives one to the treacherous Dwarf Prince Lolan, swatting everything the latter throws at him.
  • Dark Horse Victory: The Magic and the Swordsmanship classes were expected to win the tournament. Xiang Ye is the first student of the Forging class, ever, to win the Kingdom Cup Tournament. Despite his inability to use Boundary Force, Xiang Ye defeats Rennes, the top student of the magic class and wins the final round of the tournament all by himself.
  • Defensive Feint Trap: In chapter 147, he lets Rennes pin him to the ground, but just before Rennes tries to punch him, he smirks and whips out the plasma-beam, cutting off Rennes's right arm, and all the wings on his right side.
  • Devoted to You: To Isabella. Even when he had the chance to abandon her on the Demon plains as they were being hunted by the Human Tribe, he grabbed her by the arm and tried to lead her to safety.
  • Did Not Think This Through: When testing how tough "useless lumber" is, he has Eli try to cut it with a chainsaw, with neither of them using any kind of protective gear. Eli proceeds to push the chainsaw into one of the "trees" with so much force, the chainsaw blade snaps and hurls backward, nearly hitting Xiang Ye in the face.
    • He lampshades this himself when Newton's Third Law of Motion literally kicks him in the ass, but at least Newton did get him out of immediate danger.
  • Diving Save: His first, on-screen, indisputable act of heroism is pushing an old man he presumes to be the janitor of Royal Academy out of the way of one of the attacks coming from the most recent fight between Wadley Aisi and Dorona. The guy disappears without so much as a "thank you."
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: When his combat helicopter is destroyed and he's in free-fall, all his alloy stones, blueprints, etc were in Martin's hands, leaving him with only the most basic of forging pens, and then he and Isabella find themselves in the desert, under attack from some demon tribe sand swimming blow-dart users, and Balien, the third strongest member of the demon tribe's 12 pillars.
    • This happens to be the case after his revival he loses his Demon King reserves.
  • Energy Weapon: Xiang Ye builds these into his Powered Armor. They are so powerful they can easily penetrate through Rennes' magic shields with superb accuracy. His laser cannons have a range of two kilometres.
  • An Entrepreneur Is You: As is revealed in chapter 54, he, or Martin on his behalf, makes contracts with various merchants to sell odds and ends he crafts in forging class to fund his research, and the human military, and it's all far more lucrative, and effective, than simply selling processed magic stones at exorbitant prices. Sophisas is stunned upon learning of it.
  • Erotic Dream: A fever dream due to head-injury is Played for Laughs in chapter 86.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Xiang Ye dislikes Rennes, but cannot resist saving him from the Tols brothers who were publicly assaulting him and mocking Rennes's crippled state.
  • Exotic Weapon Supremacy: He uses a hydraulic crimper on the God Tribe ruins' dragon and calls it "hydraulic dragon crimper".
  • Expy: This guy is practically Tony Stark armed with the Reality Infinity Stone.
  • Famed In-Story: After winning the Kingdom Tournament, Xiang Ye has become well-known across the capital as a gifted forger and more students are interested in studying forging.
  • Flashback: Xiang Ye witnesses the God Tribe from the memories of Vasily Andre. He is horrified by their actions.
  • Foreshadowing: A framed graduation picture in chapter 1 foreshadows that he is a Teen Genius.
  • Friendless Background: On Earth, he had no friends, and his parents left overseas for years, leaving him to his own devices all that time.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: People wrote off Xiang Ye as a talentless loser because he couldn't use boundary force. Once he took on the art of forging, Xiang Ye became a force to be reckoned with.
    • A teenager with no superpowers transforms into the Demon King in one year.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Has superb technological skills to craft a Humongous Mecha and an Iron Man suit, complete with repulsor rays.
  • Genre Savvy: He lampshades the abundance of "transported to another world" stories and their tropes: cheat skills and love interests due to Chronic Hero Syndrome.
  • God Guise: He is mistaken for a God by the people of the Eli mountain range, who hold Cargo Cult beliefs regarding modern technology.
  • Godzilla Threshold: When even a nuke is not enough, he uses a black hole, despite knowing how dangerous it is.
  • Good Is Not Soft: If you antagonize him into a life or death battle, and he has the means, he will kill you the moment he has the chance, without hesitation, mercy, or remorse.
  • Grew a Spine: For all his cocky tendencies, Xiang Ye feels inadequate to be Isabella's husband. At one point, he starts praising Rennes's good looks, skills and family status to Isabella, in the hope that she would choose someone better, but she brushes it off. Several chapters later, after learning Rennes' true character and his intention to possess Isabella, Xiang Ye changes his mind and defeats him for good.
  • Guile Hero: He usually gets out of fights alive with cunning and technological prowess.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Lacking the ability to use magic, he's considered "garbage" on both sides of the fourth wall. Come chapter 31 onward, the fact that he's an amazing artist, has intricate knowledge of modern tech, and is Mr. Imagination makes him a force to be reckoned with.
    • He later discovers that he can craft using useless lumber, which is normally an impossible task. Useless lumber also happens to be the most impervious substance of this world. In Xiang Ye's hands, it works wonders.
  • Henpecked Husband: Justified. Even without her magic powers, Isabella can, and does, easily smack him around, so when she says "jump", he says "yes, ma'am" and hopes he jumps high enough.
    • Slowly subverted when Isabella gradually develops feelings for Xiang Ye. By the time they get married for real, Isabella becomes a loving and supportive partner to Xiang Ye.
  • Heroic Willpower: For some reason, Xiang Ye has enough mental power surpassing that of hundreds of dwarves. It is greater than even Martin or the Dwarf King's mental power, which means that he can use the pale moon stone without fatigue. He even subconsciously triggered Forging Fields by himself, something even the accomplished forgers Martin and Kahn have trouble with due to tremendous willpower involved. After the battle with the demons, Martin and the Dwarf King fight Xiang Ye to help him learn the Forging Field, which can forge anything without using forging stones.
  • He's Back!: After Chapters 392 and 393 seemingly kills Xiang Ye off it isn't until Chapter 407 when he returns after learning more about Andaman. He ends up losing his Demon King form though.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He literally falls victim to Newton's laws of motion. The geyser he uses to ward off Nainai's attack from behind sends him flying face first into the stage floor.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Defied. He's an excellent judge of character, which is very surprising considering his Friendless Background and Parental Abandonment issues.
  • Hot for Teacher: Notwithstanding his attraction for Isabella, Xiang Ye does like to fantasize about the beautiful female teachers at the Royal Academy, especially Wadley Aisi and Dorona. He crafts figures of them wearing bikinis and they have been his most popular products in the market! The teachers are not pleased when they discover the truth from Xiang Ye's mentor Martin.
  • Humble Hero: He may frequently fantasize about being served hand and foot and being fawned over, even once sculpting a statue of Isabella in a submissive position, but when push comes to shove, and he's receiving genuine praise or glory, he shares it and deflects the credit to others as if it was second nature, and never lets his triumphs or victories go to his head.
  • Humongous Mecha: Xiang Ye's pet project. During his fight with Rennes, he unleashes one, built from useless lumber.
  • Hypocrite: Sees nothing wrong with being perverted towards women, yet if anyone gets perverted with Isabella, he gets quite upset.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: He is a raging pervert who doesn't bother to hide it, but when Isabella is squaring off against Tols Buri, he advises her "he looks like a pervert, be careful." He's right!
    • Furthermore, he really has no reason to be afraid of exposing his identity. The ritual for summoning people from other worlds is so obscure, he could stand in the public square and yell out "I WAS SUMMONED FROM ANOTHER WORLD!" confident nobody would believe it. On the other hand, if Isabella's identity is exposed, she will be executed, and him right along with her, as the accomplice who smuggled her into human lands.
  • I Choose to Stay: Combined with I Gave My Word. When Andre offers him the chance to go home, using the boundary force in his ring's jewel, Xiang Ye turns it down, because he hasn't met his promise of putting Isabella back on her throne as the Demon Queen.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Chapter 1 showcases that his favorite MMO runs "raid" events, and he is an expert at coordinating large numbers of players to victory. Come the 59+ chapters, and he's leading a rather large group of people, successfully completing one strategic objective after another, through the most dangerous areas of human controlled territory. And he makes it look easy. The only trouble he really has are situations set up by the Tols siblings.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Initially. He believes that he is unworthy of Isabella due to his lack of Boundary Force and suggests her to go out with Rennes. It irritates her and Xiang Ye never brings it up again.
  • Ideal Hero: For the most part. Aside from being a bit perverted and goofy, he represents everything a hero should be.
  • If We Survive This: Xiang Ye has this moment in spades, with Sophisas, who by now is certain that he is his missing little brother, much later in the series. Xiang Ye had previously mulled over this issue at length, finally fully embraces the role of Sophisac, culminating in an emotional exchange that borders on an outright Platonic Declaration of Love.
    • Xiang Ye: "Big Brother! When I come back, let's return, together, back to our former home. Then we can start a new life. From then on... Let ME protect YOU!"
  • Indy Ploy: Justified. Xiang Ye has three goals. 1.) Get out of the human city, along with Isabella, alive. 2.) Return Isabella to her throne in the Demon tribe, preferably destroying the usurper Lilian in the process. 3.) Get back home to Earth before the end of his summer vacation. He doesn't have a solid plan to meet said goals because the situation is too fluid and dynamic to craft one, even if he was intimately familiar with all the factions of the world setting. So he and Isabella just go about their daily lives keeping their eyes and ears open for an opportunity, and then just make things up as they go from there.
  • Instant Expert: Rennes had his whole life, and all the perks of being royalty to become the magical powerhouse he is. Xiang Ye had one night and can already rival him in power and application, if not control, albeit through the use of scrolls and magical stones.
    • Due to his drawing skills and knowledge of modern technology, Xiang Ye quickly mastered forging and is respected by his seniors.
  • I Shall Taunt You: In his fight with Rennes, Xiang Ye taunts and insults him every chance he gets. He's doing so to provoke Rennes into attacking with his strongest attacks and magics, purely to learn the flaws in the Iron Man suit and Humongous Mecha, to deal with larger future threats. Rennes is well aware of this, but continues to rise to the bait because he's so convinced of his inherent superiority that he can only see Xiang Ye as a bug that he must crush, by any and all means necessary, damn the consequences.
  • Irony: For a guy who can't use Boundary Force, Xiang Ye is viewed as the only member of the Human Tribe who can pose a serious threat to Tols Angus.
  • Jack of All Trades: Downplayed. While his specialty is the forging class, he dabbles at everything else, including magic. Though his spells are Cast from Money, as he has to buy expensive scrolls and stones that can only be used once and are then entirely spent.
  • Karmic Jackpot: Despite being summoned from Earth and having no superpowers, he chose to help Isabella regain her throne. Xiang Ye succeeds. Consequently, he gets to marry the beautiful Isabella, have sex with her, inherit powers of the Osa bloodline, and is chosen by the Osa progenitor to become the new Demon King.
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Punches a shrivelled Rennes in the face when the latter still continues to spout drivel about his superiority. Xiang Ye retorts that from his perspective, Rennes is worthless.
  • Knighting: By Sophisas after earning the title of major from the school tournament's first prize.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When surrounded by soldiers, he quickly surrenders before them, to spare him and Isabella.
    • After obtaining the mystical dagger from the God Tribe ruins, Xiang Ye decides to flee from the giant robots. Modo is too happy to comply while Isabella and Eli are nonplussed (they follow Xiang Ye's lead though). Unfortunately one of the robots blocks their way.
  • Laser Blade: Has one equipped in his ironman suit, which he used to slice off dragon mode Rennes' right arm and wing. It can extend up to 3 metres long.
  • Level-Up at Intimacy 5: After consummating his marriage with Isabella, Xiang Ye discovers that he has received 80% of his wife's power and can transform into demon form, officially becoming the Demon King.
  • Like a Duck Takes to Water: For the audience, it's been months. For him, it's been less than a week, and he's acclimated to this new world quite nicely. Not bad for a modern Earth human suddenly finding himself in a fantasy medieval culture.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Justified. Isabella and her handmaidens stripped him of his Earth attire when he arrived, and the only clothes he has are the set provided by Sophisas. While Isabella's been using her allowance to expand her wardrobe, Xiang Ye's been using his allowance primarily to buy the materials he needs to master the "forging" ability, and those are not cheap.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: Debatably becomes this for Sophisas, who is seemingly certain that he's his long-lost little brother Sophisac, to the point that Xiang Ye begins to wonder is he really is his missing sibling...
  • Logical Weakness: If what he wants to create is too complex, he doesn't understand its inner workings, or both, he can't create a functional copy with his magic pen, something he learns as he's testing his ability the very night after he joins the forging class.
  • Love at First Sight: The moment he laid eyes on Isabella, and realized he was summoned to be her "champion," he wanted to marry her right away!
  • Magnetic Hero: Surprisingly. As lampshaded by Isabella the moment he makes friends with Eli. He has a talent for rallying people to his side.
Isabella: "Hmph! You may have absolutely no talent and are totally useless, but you're pretty good at making friends."
  • Maou the Demon King: Becomes one after marrying and having sex with Isabella.
  • Marionette Master: He doesn't have to be in the pilot's seat to get his mecha to work. He can have it move with an auto-pilot, though the mecha's moves tend to be easily predictable in return.
  • Marriage of Convenience: He proclaims Isabella is his wife so he can smuggle her into the Human Tribe's city and the both of them can live. He later makes a point of declaring this publicly and in front of large crowd at the academy, and defends this decision by stating that this will spare Isabella from receiving unwanted attention from the suitors that she doubtlessly would have had to deal with otherwise.
    • This gambit works for the most part, with only one notable exception...
  • Microwave the Dog: In self-defense. And There Was Much Rejoicing.
  • Mistaken for Quake: The initial reaction to his Humongous Mecha.
  • Mundane Made Awesome:
    • Wins his match against Tols Bushi with a giant microwave, cooking the bastard alive.
    • He uses a mundane variety of forging, namely altering shape rather than creating complex constructs, to manipulate sand, effectively appearing to be a Sand Blaster.
  • Mundane Utility: The warmech he summons in chapter 42? Serves well as a mining machine.
  • Nerves of Steel: Zig-Zagged. He never lets his emotions control him once he's actually in battle. The rest of the time, he's very swayed by his emotions.
    • Although he panics when confronted by Tols Penny, Xiang Ye is smart enough to know that she won't kill him and only wants something. He avoids volunteering any information.
  • No Body Left Behind: After Tols Angus uses his god rings to rebound the damage from Xiang Ye's Tzar Bomba back into his own head, and then resume the flow of time, Xiang Ye quickly and graphically disintegrates.
  • Not Quite Dead: Tols Angus uses his god rings to transfer the Tsar Bomba's damage on Xiang Ye, disintegrating him. Xiang Ye wakes up as a spirit, unable to interfere with the world. He gets transported to the spiritual realm, where he meets the progenitor of the Osa bloodline, Andaman.
  • No-Sell: Smacks down Loland's attacks with absurd ease.
  • Nuke 'em: As a last resort, he launches a nuclear warhead against Rennes, inflicting injuries on him and infecting him with radiation damage.
    • During the war between the Demons and Dwarves, Xiang Ye uses one against the 2nd Ranked Demon Pillar Raymond Sasso. This weapon is twenty times greater than the previous and its destructive power shocks all onlookers.
    • Strikes Libery with a nuclear missile. After Lilian devours Libery, she suffers from acute radiation poisoning, and loses most of her body.
  • Oh, Crap!: Is shocked when he encounters Tols Penny who reveals that she knows about Isabella's true identity as the Demon Queen, and announces her intention to assassinate the Regent.
  • Once Killed a Man with a Noodle Implement: Well not killed, but otherwise quite literal. He defeats Nainai with a bowl of instant ramen.
  • One-Man Industrial Revolution: Xiang Ye is heading that way when he announces his plans to introduce mass production technology into his businesses. He has already built an automatic forging machine.
  • Opposites Attract: He and Isabella are polar opposites in just about everything, and that's why he's completely smitten with her.
  • Our Founder: The Merchant's Union of the kingdom has a huge bronze replica of Xiang Ye. It was to recognise his contribution to the merchants which helped them gain large profits.
  • Outside-Context Problem: The reason Xiang Ye quickly becomes such a badass with forging is due to coming from a world similar to ours, which given his use of Humongous Mecha and Power Armor may even reach Science Fiction levels. Xiang is able to think up technology no one else in the world he's found himself in can even conceive of, much less understand and counter.
  • Pacifism Backfire: Due to Culture Clash. In chapters 377-379, every time he tries to get the human empire to stop their aggression and have a dialogue, even after displaying overwhelming firepower and tactics, the human commanders act as if they and their country have been insulted and double down on their aggression.
  • Parental Abandonment: His parents have been overseas for years, and he's a young teen.
  • Phlebotinum Breakdown: In his fight against Rennes, the Frickin' Laser Beams and other parts of his Powered Armor break down due to overload or completely malfunction. Turns out it was a ploy on Xiang Ye's part to catch Rennes off-guard. It works.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: As a result of wielding the Pale-Moon Stone, Xiang Ye collapses shortly after defeating Rennes and winning the tournament.
  • Power Copying: He can write glyphs to summon and cast high level spells which are comparable to those of Rennes. The latter is displeased with this.
  • Powered Armor: Called Knight of Magic. It is made of useless lumber and posseses many of the standard abilities. Truly a wonder of magical craftmanship.
  • Power is Sexy: Xiang Ye's always liked Isabella, but he really starts to crush on her when she shields him from the collateral damage of Eli's attack on the giant stone golem, completely unfazed.
  • Power Source: He establishes the human Kingdom's first power plant. It is a wind power station and a solar power station.
  • Rags to Riches: Xiang Ye entered the kingdom with nothing but his boxers and Sophisas's cloak. About four months later, he is so wealthy that he purchased an entire street and is a high ranking member of the Merchant's Union. The merchants had a huge bronze statue of Xiang Ye erected because he helped them amass so much profit.
  • Reality Is Unrealistic: Chapter 57 perfectly highlights that there are situations where lowering prices and taxes can actually be a manner that brings in more revenue, in addition to making the people's lives easier. The "unrealistic" part comes from the fact that there are many self-proclaimed "economic experts" among celebrities, commentators, and politicians that fervently insist such a concept is ridiculous rubbish, and, like the Tols siblings, pointedly proclaim the only way to increase revenue is to increase taxes, ignoring any and all empirical and historical evidence to the contrary.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Is quite fond of giving these out to arrogant jerkasses, especially Rennes.
Rennes: Without this pen, you are nothing. Do you understand that!?
Xiang Ye: Without your dragon form, you would've died a moment ago. Do you understand that?
Rennes: You continue to wear that snarky attitude till death. Now the entire arena, including Yi Bei, will watch as I trample you to victory!
Xiang Ye: HAHAHAHA! I didn't know that an arrogant prince could be this funny! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Rennes: What are you laughing at!?
Xiang Ye: All you do is talk and act cool. Deep down all you want is the approval and attention from the people around you... My 9th grade syndrome self can relate a little. But all you do all day is gawk at my wife, are you not even a bit embarrassed with yourself?! That's right, the fate of this match has already been sealed, but unfortunately, I'll be the winner.
  • Remember When You Blew Up a Sun?: He reminds Tols Penny that he won the school tournament to intimidate her. It does not work.
  • Removed Achilles' Heel: At the start of the story, he could be given a heart-attack by any strong mage or magic fighter glaring at him with Killing Intent backed by boundary force. After becoming the legit demon king, this no longer applies.
  • Renaissance Man: He is a brilliant artist, Forger, modern technology expert, architect, and entrepreneur. He can also drive the vehicles he crafts as well as pilot his Humongous Mecha and Iron Man suit.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Sophisas considers him as his younger brother, to cope with the disappearance of Sophisac. Isabella lampshades it, telling Xiang Ye that Sophisas will never allow him to risk his life.
  • Save the Villain: Subverted. During their death match, Xiang Ye cripples Rennes, then offers to spare his life if he admits defeat. Rennes defies his offer by trying to punch him, prompting Xiang Ye to furiously knock the bastard down.
  • Saying Too Much: In chapter 47, feeling jealous and insecure, Xiang Ye indirectly questions Isabella if she's attracted to Tols Rennes by singing the guy's virtues and asking why she didn't take up his offer to side with the mage class. Rather than give Xiang Ye the reassurance he so desperately needs, she takes it as an insult to her character, and the (off-screen) consequences are not pretty.
  • Secret-Keeper: He resolves to not disclose the God Tribe and its creation of all intelligent life to anyone. Later, he reveals the truth to Isabella who decides to prevent the gods from awakening.
  • Self-Made Man: Managed to become wealthy by his own effort and leadership ability.
  • Shameless Self-Promoter: He uses his fight with Nainai to promote his own brand of Instant Ramen. It's an epic success in that even the young king wants to buy some and try it. The fact that the arena crowd showers him with applause doesn't hurt his feelings either.
  • Science Hero: As a Renaissance Man and an One-Man Industrial Revolution he is this guaranteed.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Played with. On the one hand, he appreciates pretty girls. On the other, he only ever fantasizes about Isabella, under normal circumstances anyway.
  • The So-Called Coward: He's treated as trash by most because he has no magical or martial talent, but if he has the ability to rescue someone, he will, even risking himself to do so. Even Isabella is impressed, though she doesn't show it.
  • Stock Light-Novel Hero: Reconstructed. A normal teenage boy, coming from a nation at peace, suddenly dumped right into the heart of a warzone, with no idea of the situation, culture, geography, or local politics isn't going to be able to do much. On the other hand, a very ingenious and innovative, but otherwise normal teenage boy coming from a nation that achieved peace through superior firepower and technology, and then given a magical pen that can create almost any artificial tool imaginable? There isn't much he can't do.
  • Story-Breaker Power: He can create miniature blackholes.
  • The Strategist: Of the non The Chessmaster variety. He comes up with plans that utilize himself and his companions to defeat enemies.
  • Strong and Skilled: His mastery in regards to magical forging gives him immense firepower, relatively speaking, and he's quite adept at putting forward the right tool for the right situation. He dominates just about every battle he's in.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The smart guy to Isabella's strong girl.
  • Superior Successor: To his master, Ashtone Martin. Martin and Kahn took years to grasp the basics of Forging Field, and even now they have to struggle and work together to summon one. In contrast, Xiang Ye can summon Forging Fields sub-consciously by himself. Martin and Kahn went bald from trying to forge Useless Lumber using Forging Fields, but Xiang Ye can instantaneously forge Useless Lumber without summoning Forging Fields, and without any side-effects. It is for this reason that Martin appointed Xiang Ye as the new Forging Teacher.
  • Swiss-Army Superpower: There's very little his skill with the magic pen can't do.
  • Taking the Bullet: As a result of Tuck and Cover. He shields Isabella from a potentially fatal blow to the head with his own, to her horror.
  • Taught by Experience: He notes that people tend to attack him from behind, so he prepares a pressurized water barrier to counter this. While it proves effective, it does have some drawbacks he needs to work on.
  • Teen Genius: Chapter 94 reveals he completed an undergraduate degree at 14 and was offered a seat at Harvard, and was planning to go, until (wham) "hello, Isabella."
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Defied.
    • While he doesn't enjoy violence, Xiang Ye will actively try to kill anyone if they happen to be malicious jerkasses.
    • In the tournament final round against Rennes, Xiang Ye goes as far as to unleash a nuclear missile against him, infecting him with radiation.
  • Ultimate Blacksmith: He can craft futuristic technology thanks to the magical forging method invented by Martin. He is also the only one who can mould Useless Lumber.
  • Uncle Pennybags: Revealed in chapter 128. As a result of his many business ventures and "inventions," he is so wealthy he can easily afford to either buy all the materials to build a house, or straight up buy it himself. As was already mentioned, this is quite expensive.
    • He tasked many people to launch his series of products. Xiang Ye's business enterprises include outdoor goods, fast food, pharmacy, toy merchandise, weapons, and real estate. All of them are lucrative and are being well-received by consumers.
  • Wealthy Philanthropist: As stated, he's accumulated vast amounts of wealth, only to spend what must doubtlessly be a considerable ammount on developing clean renewable energy, for purely altruistic reasons. These including bringing lighting and heating to all homes, thereby eleminating the threat of people freezing to death in winter.
  • Wrong Assumption: Given Xiang Ye's gamer background, he initially has a warped understanding of magic and assumes his The Chosen One powers relate to his magic capacity, right before finding out he has none.
  • You Are Already Dead: Chapter 148. Xiang Ye's speech to Rennes is essentially this. Although Rennes survived the nuclear explosion, he couldn't escape the radiation, which begins to destroy his body. Rennes doesn't die thanks to Andre, but his body is still defective.
  • You Monster!: His reaction after watching the God Tribe murder a bunch of hapless humans, including infants.
  • Young Entrepreneur: He is sixteen, and is already leading the human kingdom Merchant Guild.
  • You Remind Me of X: Sophisas thinks he has a strong resemblance to his missing little brother, and might actually be him.

     Isabella Osa a.k.a. Yi Bei
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/isabella_95.png
Garbage humans!
The titular Demon Queen. At the start of the story she was betrayed by Lilian, lost her powers and was quickly defeated. She is forced to pose as a human and Xiang Ye's wife, "Yi Bei".
  • Accidental Marriage: She has Xiang Ye summoned, expecting a powerful warrior to be the Demon Tribe's trump card. She's completely unaware she's summoning her future husband. After a year of adventuring and living together, Isabella and Xiang Ye officially tie the knot at the Demon Kingdom.
  • The Ace: As expected of the Queen who comes from a race that values Asskicking Leads to Leadership, she is skilled in combat magic and other areas of fighting.
  • Angst Coma: In chapter 394, she has shut down and gone completely catatonic after having seen Xiang Ye reduced to a pile of ash and blown away by Tols Angus using his god ring powers to put Xiang Ye's Tzar Bomba damage in Xiang Ye's head.
  • Atrocious Alias: What she thinks of the name "Yi Bei," given to her by Xiang Ye to keep Sophisas from finding out who she really is, and getting them both killed. It comes from the Chinese pronunciation of Isabella: Yī shā bèi lā.
  • Bathing Beauty: She enjoys bathing a lot and it is her preferred stress relief activity.
  • Bathtub Scene: She really enjoys taking baths to remove stress, be it either her Yi Bei personality or her Demon Queen personality.
  • Battle Couple: With Xiang Ye. When in battle together with him, she covers his shortcomings perfectly, while he brings out the big guns, literally.
  • Beneath the Mask: Very subtle, but as much as she complains loudly about it, she cares for Xiang Ye. She obviously likes his gestures of affection towards her, but is too Tsundere to admit it.
  • Big Damn Kiss: After months of being cold towards him, she finally kisses a very shocked Xiang Ye in the middle of the battle with the Demon Tribe.
  • Black Speech: When she manifests her "evil" Boundary Force, she does this. She's still a good and honorable individual who is loved by her people.
  • Black Swords Are Better: The useless lumber sword Xiang Ye makes for her is a fearsome weapon that owes its black color to its source material. She herself admits it is a "decent weapon".
  • Break His Heart to Save Him: She attempted to coldly distance herself from Xiang Ye because she doesn't want him sacrificing his life for her, reminding her of her loyal comrades. She changes her mind after Xiang Ye assures her that he will always be with her.
  • Bridal Carry: She does this to Xiang Ye when he falls asleep after winning the tournament.
    • Is herself subjected to this by Xiang Ye after Lilian is defeated and Isabella regains her original powers.
  • Broken Bird: She was troubled by the deaths of her comrades when she was ousted by Lilian. It gradually changes to hatred towards Lilian and Tols Angus.
  • Chainmail Bikini: A variant. Isabella's second Powered Armor shows off more skin. Apparently, she wanted a more agile suit.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: At one point, she loudly complains about Xiang Ye's popularity with girls (although that is not the case). She finally kisses him in front of some ladies to ward off potential rivals.
  • Cover-Blowing Superpower: Fully unleashing her Boundary Force can easily reveal that she's from the Demon tribe, which is a bad thing in human territory... She finally reveals her true identity when the Regent confronts her.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Her Demon Queen persona has a visible little fang.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her most powerful magic is "darkness" based, her Demon Queen "aura" is black and called "evil" on a repeated basis, but she, personally, is a good and kind woman who deserves the loyalty of her followers.
  • Defends Against Their Own Kind: A complex example. She wants to protect her human companions and the friendly Dwarf Tribe from her Demon kin while trying to minimize deaths among her Demon subjects.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: For bonus points, she's an actual queen. Initially quite haughty, she mellows and very slowly becomes fond of Xiang Ye.
  • De-power: At the start of the story, her ability to use magic is stripped away by Lilian. She still has the capacity, as measured in being tested for entry into the academy, but she doesn't have access to the fuel that can run it. Isabella regains her powers after Xiang Ye strips Lilian's abilities.
  • The Determinator: Chapter 110 reveals the mystery of Isabella crossing the finish line, Xiang Ye tied to her back. Andre shows Xiang Ye a recorded video of Isabella climbing Half-moon Mountain by using a couple of swords bound by a chain as rappelling gear, until she lost them, and then climbed up by hand, leaving bloody handprints across the entire glacier. Xiang Ye is awed after learning this.
  • Divine Parentage: Her ancestry goes back to the god tribe.
  • Dude Magnet: She is attractive, to the point where even a handsome guy like Rennes tries to woo her. However, she silently prefers to be with Xiang Ye.
  • Dynamic Entry: She saves Xiang Ye from being eaten by the God Tribe ruins' dragon with a surprise slash to the eye.
  • Everybody Has Standards: Among the demon race strength is the biggest sign of competence, but Raymond's tactic of turning his fellow demons into corpses to boost his own strength disgusts her. Isabella hates Lillian for encouraging demons to kill each other in the bid for power.
  • First Of Its Kind: She's the first student to be permitted to study both swordsmanship and magic simultaneously.
  • Forceful Kiss: She is given one by Xiang Ye as part of a Cooldown Hug.
  • From Roommates to Romance: Initially, Isabella sleeps on the bed and forces Xiang Ye to sleep on the floor. Few months later, she doesn't mind sharing her bed with Xiang Ye. Eventually, they do get officially married.
  • Hates Being Touched: Zig-Zagged. Her royal upbringing tells her she should not get close to anyone and she attempts to honor this practice when Xiang Ye touches her, yet she cannot help but blush.
    • It is later revealed that Xiang Ye was the first man to embrace Isabella, which caused her to be embarassed.
  • Heinz Hybrid: Her god-tribe heritage starts with a human+god tribe union.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Isabella has practiced sword fighting under Mochia and is currently learning under Dorona. She wields the Useless Lumber sword Xiang Ye had crafted for her.
  • Hidden Depths: Unlike some other characters who are strictly magic-minded, she shows interest in Xiang Ye's technology and does not view his creations as gimmicks.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: The necklace Dorona gave her to control her Demon boundary force absorbs it when she tries to unleash it against Balien.
  • Hot Consort: To the Demon King, Xiang Ye.
  • Hypocrite: "Hmph! Useless humans. Always fighting among themselves." Says the Demon Queen who got deposed by her own general.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: She's prone to demeaning and insulting Xiang Ye, calling him "trash" by default. She doesn't like it if someone else insults him. After a few months, she stops insulting him altogether.
  • I Have to Go Iron My Dog: Inverted. When Xiang Ye notices that she stuck around to defend him from the Tols Siblings, rather than escaping with the rest of the class, as he had asked, she states "I wanted to take their tokens." Xiang Ye doesn't buy it.
  • Indifferent Beauty: She's alluring and knows it, but does not care.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Isabella is puzzled when Xiang Ye gifts her a bouquet of paper flowers from Eli's siblings. She states that the bouquet is not useful for burning, eating, or fighting and wonders if she said something wrong when Eli's siblings starts crying.
  • It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Her reason for trying to distance herself from Xiang Ye. One year later, after overthrowing Lilian, Isabella thanks Xiang Ye for supporting her.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Violent, abrasive, and haughty, but beneath it all is a good, kind, and strong woman who deserves the loyalty of her people. She is also faithful to Xiang Ye. Her noble personality and her physical beauty, is why Xiang Ye is completely devoted to her. Gradually, she drops the jerk facade and becomes a more loving partner towards Xiang Ye.
  • Lady of War: She is a beautiful and elegant fighter, even without her "Boundary Force."
  • Lap Pillow: She cradles an unconscious Xiang Ye in her lap (though his head is on her chest) in chapter 150.
  • Lethal Chef: She is horrible at cooking.
  • The Lost Lenore: Isabella's fear. Xiang Ye comes from another world, and after his mission is fulfilled, he will return to his homeworld, leaving Isabella alone and heartbroken...
  • Luminescent Blush: Tends to blush very occasionally. Begins to happen frequently when she decides to properly marry Xiang Ye.
  • Magic Kiss: Does this to Xiang Ye twice to give him some of her power. The second time she gives him 1% of her demonic power so that he will never be affected by the pressure of the boundary force again.
  • Magic Knight: In Royal Academy, she takes the magic and sword classes simultaneously and later combines spells with sword moves.
  • Martial Pacifist: Contrary to her declaration that humans are all trash, she does indeed want peaceful coexistence, but is fond of contests of strength and skill.
  • Mistress and Servant Boy: She briefly invoked this after her personality switch, expecting Xiang Ye to follow her orders. She drops the trope after admitting that she really likes Xiang Ye and accepts him as her prospective husband.
  • Modesty Towel: Isabella rushes to save Xiang Ye from the guardian dragon wearing this. Xiang Ye fixes it by putting Powered Armor on her.
  • Mr. Exposition: She explains to Xiang Ye how her Boundary Force works. According to Isabella, her Boundary Force comes from a Demonic Core unique to her. At full power output can easily surpass people with Dragon Forms.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She is particularly beautiful, and some Fanservice is focused on her.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: She senses the God Tribe ruins' dragon's attack on Xiang Ye.
  • Naked Apron: She appears wearing only her apron in promotional materials.
  • Naked First Impression: Close enough. Minutes after she summons Xiang Ye, her "aura" is depleted, and she sports a fully human body, completely nude. Though there's too much life-threatening stuff going on to be embarrassed, she doesn't hesitate to strip Xiang Ye's clothes off him and wear those to protect her dignity.
  • Noble Demon: Literally. She's a Demon Queen, and is unflinchingly honorable and loyal.
  • No One Gets Left Behind: Initially, she wants to keep her handmaidens, but Xiang Ye talks her into escaping so their sacrifices won't be All for Nothing.
  • Official Couple: With Xiang Ye, after their wedding.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: In chapter 85, she comes out of the magic portal after having climbed the glacier, without gear, with an unconscious and badly wounded Xiang Ye tied to her back. Later, Andre shows the recording to Xiang Ye.
  • Opposites Attract: She's Xiang Ye's polar opposite in just about everything, and she knows it. Still, she is content and acknowledges Xiang Ye's feelings.
  • Parrying Bullets: Uses her sword to parry arrows, energy beams, and other sword attacks. The sturdy useless lumber sword Xiang Ye makes for her significantly enhances this ability.
  • Powered Armor: When Isabella is fighting the dragon guardian of the God Tribe ruins, Xiang Ye dresses her in a purple armor, called Magic Core Armor, that resembles a hi-tech version of her original outfit as the Demon Queen. It accentuates Isabella's curves and has elemental alloy stones embedded on its gauntlets to amplify her power. Isabella asks Xiang Ye to craft a new armor for her which increases her mobility.
  • Pre-Climax Climax: Chapter 409 is all about her and Xiang Ye trying to get her pregnant before they lead the retaliatory attack on the human tribe for Tols Angus's actions.
  • Princess in Rags: After being deposed and chased out of demon lands, into the human city, she still acts as haughty as if she's the current Demon Queen. She tones down the act though.
  • Purple Is Powerful: In her full Demon form, her horns, tail, and magically maintained "clothes" are all purple, and she's powerful enough that her attacks can leave a meteor sized crater in the ground.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes are a very solid red, and she's got quite a temper.
  • Romantic Fake–Real Turn: She starts the story faking a marriage with Xiang Ye, so she can hold on to her life and infiltrate the human city, in her quest for vengeance on the Regent. Over time, all her adventures with Xiang Ye culminate into their official wedding.
  • Royalty Super Power: According to Isabella, she has a unique demon core due to being born in the Osa bloodline. It is capable of generating immense boundary force and it can rival the combined strength of members of the human royalty who possess formidable dragon forms.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She is totally fine with Xiang Ye watching her nude.
  • Sneaky Departure: After being prevented by Sophisas from helping the Dwarf Tribe against the Demons, Isabella and Xiang Ye sneak out at night.
  • The Stoic: Seldom shows any expression except, occasionally, anger.
  • Storm of Blades: Combined with Knife Outline. She temporarily restrains one of the golems with magical giant swords.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Going purely by the In Medias Res, if she didn't suffer a De-power, there would be no story tension without a great deal of Deus Exit Machina, or the like. At her weakest, she rivals Rennes, the magic prodigy of the kingdom.
  • Strong Girl, Smart Guy: The strong girl to Xiang Ye's smart guy.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: The manifestation of her survivor's guilt puts out a massive "evil" boundary force aura that almost overwhelmed Dorona. Had Dorona not rendered Isabella unconscious, the consequences would not have been pretty, for anyone.
    • Happens again during the tournament when Penny provokes her. Fortunately, Xiang Ye calms her, but she and Penny are disqualified from the tournament.
    • Isabella suspects that her split personality was caused by her De-power as she had never experienced such issues before.
    • Happens yet again after their fight with Balien when Xiang Ye treats her injuries. Isabella treats him harshly, calling him a servant and gives him tall orders. Even in this personality, she is attracted to him.
    • After the battle, both personalities have a discussion. The Tsundere personality is okay with the evil personality doing naughty things to Xiang Ye. Both personalities agree that they like him before merging.
  • Survivor's Guilt: She suffers from this tremendously. The moment she lets her thoughts wander, the spirits of all her followers who were butchered by Regent Tols Angus swarm and angrily accuse her.
  • Sword Beam: She can shoot these, colored black by her Demon boundary force.
  • Talk to the Fist: During the last rounds of the tournament arc, Isabella is matched against Tols Buri. At the start of the round, he began to arrogantly tell her to just give up and spare herself the humiliation as she has no chance of winning against him. While Buri was still spouting his drivel about how superior he thinks he is, he was taken by surprise as he was forced to block a strong slash from Isabella, who tells him if he's got time to talk then he should focus on trying not to get killed by her.
  • The Tease: Chapter 214 is all about her Demon Queen Isabella persona sexually teasing and tormenting Xiang Ye. While she's bathing and not wearing a stitch of clothing, she commands him to let her use his shoulder as a leg rest, and when she's through with that, tells him to turn around and massage her naked back, but just before he starts, she reverses her "look but don't touch" policy and warns him that if he peeps, she will yank out his eyeballs, as he's blushing to the point he's as red as a beet.
  • Tough Leader Façade: She struggles to maintain a certain "royal dignity," but she's a kind and gentle woman who truly looks after her friends and allies.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Combined with Humiliation Conga. After everything done to her and her people, Xiang Ye physically forces her to bow her head to the very soldiers who were engaged in it, and called her "traumatized into madness", disowning her Queen title, to try and survive.
  • Tsundere: During her exile, Isabella is very aloof but caring and protective towards Xiang Ye. Gradually, she drops the tsundere personality when she admits to liking Xiang Ye.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Child: A flashback shows that she was an adorable child, happily playing with all sorts of beings, no prejudice in her body.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Even though she finds Xiang Ye annoying, Isabella will go out of her way to save him from enemies.
    • When a heavily empowered Rennes is about to murder Xiang Ye, she is ready to jump into the fray and save him. Fortunately, Xiang Ye was faking it to expose Rennes and he severs Rennes's right arm and wings.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Although she's not able to blast mountains to rubble without her magic, her sword and archery skills are almost unequaled, as long as her opponent doesn't use magic himself...Though she's losing the "weak" part in a hurry.
  • What You Are in the Dark: In her early days with Xiang Ye, even though she was cold and aggressive towards him, Isabella always cared for Xiang Ye and did her best to protect him.
  • When She Smiles: An unusual variant. Xiang Ye can imagine her smile, and even made a statue of her with a very subtle "come hither" smile that suits her just fine. But what Xiang Ye loves most about her is watching her blush.
    • She actually does smile after watching Xiang Ye win the tournament.
  • Women Prefer Strong Men: She eventually deems Xiang Ye to be strong and worthy enough to be her husband.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: Until she gets her power back, she can't even dream of going back to her people and being recognized. If she tries, then she will get hunted by both the humans and the demons. Isabella finally returns home after one year of adventure, and regains her power.
  • You Monster!: She says this to the human soldiers who killed her handmaidens for reward money.
  • Young and in Charge: She is about the same age as Xiang Ye, so she had inherited the crown at a young age.
