New Morioh Warriors

    Jogo Higashikata

Jogo Higashikata

Stand: Cosmic Mind

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gentaro_kisaragi.png

The Eleventh JoJo, and Josuke and Pinkie's son.

His Stand, Cosmic Mind (named after the Cosmic States' theme song from Kamen Rider Fourze), uses ambient cosmic energy to create forty individual tools and weapons of varying kinds. The fortieth combines the power of the other 39 while adding intense unlimited energy.

  • Combo Platter Powers: He's got forty to choose from, and can use up to four at a time, one for each limb of his Stand.
  • Delinquent Hair: Like his father, Josuke, he sports a pompadour of his own, though it's a greaser-style pomp in his case.
  • Expy: He is heavily based on Gentaro Kisaragi. Not only is his Stand modeled after Kamen Rider Fourze, it's named after the Image Song for Cosmic States. He also uses Gentaro's "Uchu Kita!" for his Kiai.
  • Fan-Created Offspring: He is a fan-created member of the Joestar Family, and a son of Pinkie Pie and Josuke Higashikata.
  • Like Father, Like Son: He takes a lot after his dad, with a dash of his mom's sense of humor. He has the same desire to keep Morioh safe, the same sense of justice against self-entitled evildoers, and the same desire to keep his hair intact (though unlike his dad, teasing it is not a Berserk Button).
  • Super Mode: He can unleash his Stand's Cosmic ability, which he refers to as "throwing off all limiters", to truly show how serious he can be.
  • Too Awesome to Use: With how powerful Cosmic can be, Jogo was concerned about using it too often. As he starts to fine-tune his control, he starts to bust it out more.

    Luna

Tsukuyomi Hirose

Stand: Fly Me to the Moon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/luna_4.jpg

Jogo's girlfriend, Luna is the teenage daughter of Koichi and Yukako.

Her Stand, Fly Me to the Moon (named after a Frank Sinatra song), carries an artificial moon that gives her different powers depending on what phase it is in, like a new moon or a gibbous moon. These phases can be changed at will.

    Kengo Yamashita

Kengo Yamashita

Stand: Killer Queen

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kengo_utahoshi.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors. He's also both Yoshikage Kira's biological son... And his reincarnation.

His Stand, Killer Queen (named after a Queen song), has the same explosive powers as the original Stand, but with a twist.

  • Came Back Strong: Zigzagged. Killer Queen no longer has access to Sheer Heart Attack or Bites the Dust. What it does have is better combat capabilities and the ability to make its bombs have more physical impact.
  • Exact Words: When Yoshikage was dragged away by the Ghost Alley, Reimi promised him he wouldn't be going anywhere peaceful. Sure enough, Kengo admits his life has been a rather turbulent one.
  • I Hate Past Me: He's well aware of who he was in his previous life, and he doesn't like it.
  • Kiai: Gets an epic one ending with "bakuhatsu", the Japanese word for "explosion".
Kengo: "BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU BAKU! Bakuhatsu!"
  • Loser Son of Loser Dad: Averted. Very few people even know Yoshikage Kira was a Serial Killer, and those who do know Kengo is nothing like him.
  • My Greatest Second Chance: Like most people who reincarnate, Kengo has all of his memories as Yoshikage, but strives to be a better person in this new life.
  • Personality Powers: Killer Queen under Yoshikage was designed to help him cover up the victims of his killer instincts. Killer Queen under Kengo was designed to help him protect others from dangerous Stand users.

    Jingo Kaizo

Jingo "JK" Kaizo

Stand: Pump Up The Volume

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jk_fourze.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, and a skilled information broker.

His Stand, Pump Up The Volume (named after a M/A/R/R/S song), can manipulate sound via the turntables on its left arm.

  • Adaptational Badass: Probably the biggest example out of the Kamen Rider Club members, since his Stand has a physical form that's actually on a level similar to Stands like Star Platinum or W Boiled Xtreme.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He dresses like a typical party guy, but don't underestimate him. He has one of the strongest Stands in the series, able to compete with JoJos, which is no small feat.
  • Chick Magnet: He's actually quite popular with girls his own age, which is useful when he needs a date for a bridal fair.
  • Knowledge Broker: He knows as much about people in Morioh as Pinkie, and is more than willing to relay that info to his buddies as they try to track down and defeat Father Roche.

    Yuki Jojima

Yuki Jojima

Stand: Split Personality

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuki_jojima.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, a longtime friend of Jogo and Luna.

Her Stand, Split Personality (named after a P!nk song), creates a copy of herself, doubling her physical abilities and letting her attack from two different angles.

    Shun Daimonji

Shun Daimonji

Stand: Pigskin

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shun_daimonji.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, and the star quarterback of the local high school American football team.

His Stand, Pigskin (named after a Hollywood Undead song), rockets forward at the speed of a cannonball to deliver powerful strikes.

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: If Shun is the quarterback, his Stand is the perfect image of the left tackle, the offensive position meant to guard the quarterback's blind side.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Natch, considering his Stand takes the form of an American football player. They kinda have to be this trope in order to actually play the sport.
  • Synchronization: Averted. On the off chance his Stand should get damaged, Shun won't be affected.

    Miu Kazashiro

Miu Kazashiro

Stand: The Boom

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miu_kazashiro.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, and part of the high school cheerleader squad.

Her Stand, The Boom (named after a Nelly song), uses explosive kinetic energy to charge her cheerleading routines.

  • Action Girl: Since her Stand is attached to her own physical body as an aura, she winds up as this by default.
  • Dance Battler: A given since her Stand relies on her cheerleading skills to function.
  • One-Steve Limit: Averted, thanks to Miu Iruma.

    Ryusei Sakuta

Ryusei Sakuta

Stand: Shooting Star

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryusei_sakuta.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, and one of the team's heavy hitters.

His Stand, Shooting Star (named after an Everset song), creates small meteors that act like bullets.

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: His only power now is creating and launching meteors like bullets, but to be fair, it's a power than can compete with the top tier of JoJo Stands.
  • Expy: His Stand is modeled after his canon identity of Kamen Rider Meteor.
  • Manly Tears: When he sees Murmur Mansion, he cries along with the rest of the gang.

    Tomoko Nozama

Tomoko Nozama

Stand: Evanescence

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomoko_nozama.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, who is much more friendly than her appearance might suggest.

Her Stand, Evanescence (named after American rock band Evanescence), allows her to predict and manipulate fate as she sees fit.

  • Adaptational Superpower Change: In Kamen Rider Fourze, she had natural Psychic Powers, namely sensing the true potential of Astro Switches and psychic dowsing. Here, she is a Stand user with the power to predict and alter fate as she sees fit.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her Stand, Evanescence, appears as a female figure that resembles a classic fantasy mage. True to form, she is the only Stand user in her group whose abilities can be considered outright magical, as she possesses the power to predict and change fate.
  • Meaningful Name: While named after the rock band Evanescence, her Stand's name is also a Latin term for the act or event of vanishing/fading away. Her Stand's main power is fate manipulation by means of predicting and rewriting futures that are unfavorable to her and her friends, which usually consists of redirecting enemy attacks.
  • Seers: Her Stand, Evanescence, can predict the immediate future. It is part of the Stand's larger power of fate manipulation.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: Her Stand, Evanescence, has the ability to rewrite fate if it's "unfavorable for me or someone I care about", according to her. This usually manifests as the redirection of enemy attacks or anything that could harm the New Morioh Warriors. Her ability to predict the immediate future is a subset of this.

    Aru Akise

Aru Akise

Stand: Song of a Certain Truth

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akise_aru_mn_1774.png

A member of the New Morioh Warriors, and a notable detective.

His Stand, Song of a Certain Truth (named after the song "The Song of a Certain Truth" by Rokugen Alice), lets him divine the truth of whatever he seeks by playing musical tones.

  • Adaptational Sexuality: In canon he had an attraction to Yukiteru. Here he's shown to have a relationship with Tsubaki.
  • Alliterative Name: As in canon, Aru Akise.
  • Commonality Connection: He's acquainted with Goro Akechi, and was asked by him to aid Jogo and the others once Goro got a idea of how dangerous Father Roche's plans were.
  • Dating Catwoman: Well, Tsubaki isn't actually evil or a criminal (per se), but she is an antagonist and happens to be Akise's girlfriend.
  • Sixth Ranger: He joins the New Morioh Warriors soon into the story, being the only member from out of town.

Shard Hunters

    Yukiteru Amano

Yukiteru Amano

Stand: Walk With Confidence

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukki.jpg

The First Shard Hunter, a normal guy who happens to hold incredible power.

His Stand, Walk With Confidence, is named after the song "You Are Your Life's Leading Part, So Walk With Confidence", his own Image Song from Future Diary. It allows him simultaneous control over the elements of earth, wind, fire, and water.

  • Adaptational Badass: In so many ways. Not only is he more confident than canon, his Stand is one of the most powerful ever conceived.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Yuno always calls him Yuki, which gets a bit of confusion when he's first introduced due to Yuki Jojima.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: He tries to pull this with Jogo, stating they're both targeting the shard bearers for similar reasons. Jogo points out that Yukiteru and the others are more than willing to kill the shard bearers who become Stand users, even when they don't do anything truly terrible.
  • Official Couple: He and Yuno are dating in this world, and under much happier circumstances.
  • Tritagonist: He's as important to the plot as Jogo and Shinzo, but he doesn't get nearly as much screentime.

    Yuno Gasai

Yuno Gasai

Stand: Happy Fate

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuno_gasai.png

The Second Shard Hunter, she's also Yukiteru's girlfriend.

Her Stand, Happy Fate (named after her Image Song from Future Diary) can fire energy blasts that tear apart then repair reality, the only exception being what Yuno actually wanted to damage in the first place.

Her Stands' second ability, Red Love (named after her second Image Song), activates when her happiness reaches its peak. In this state the Stand becomes a Lightning Bruiser, only capable of intense speed and strength until Yuno gets her emotions under control.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Definitely, since she's not the Yandere nihilist she was in canon.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: For all that she's a better person than canon, do not think she's a delicate flower. She's one of the strongest Stand users in existence, and when her emotions reach their peak a little bit of Canon Yuno can show through.
  • Genre Savvy: When dealing with Amagi, she starts to realize how his Stand works and wears earplugs to keep from being hypnotized.
  • Logical Weakness: Her Red Love form can't last forever, since happiness can fade rather quickly. Shinzo takes advantage of this and his own Stand's powers to outlast her, gaining more strength as a result.
  • Official Couple: She's currently dating Yukiteru, and they couldn't be happier.

    Takao Hiyama

Takao Hiyama

Stand: Third Antares

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3rd_1181.jpg

The Third Shard Hunter, a former school teacher arrested for attempted murder.

His Stand, Third Antares, is named after the song "THIRD/Antares Cr302", his Image Song from Future Diary. It's a super durable suit Stand with a large machete that can only damage Stands.

  • Bullying a Dragon: He tries to get Josuke to talk his family out of interfering with the Diary Game, despite the fact that Josuke's Stand is far stronger. To be fair, Third Antares can bypass a Stand's normal Defense rating.
  • Coat, Hat, Mask: The form his Stand takes when it's active.
  • Idiot Ball: He knows all about Josuke... But makes the mistake of pressing Josuke's Berserk Button regarding his hair. At least he gets a chance to fully test his Stand's durability.
  • Malevolent Masked Man: Subverted. He looks the part, but his Stand can't really kill normal people. And the first time he tried to break into serial killing, he was caught and arrested.
  • Serial Killer: Averted. He tried to be this, but he was caught and arrested before he could even get a single kill in.
  • Wham Line: He's the one who first spills the beans that he and the other Shard Hunters are competing to obtain, and possibly destroy, DIO's diary with his formula for Heaven.

    Keigo Kurusu

Keigo Kurusu

Stand: Running For Your Life

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fourth_8872.jpg

The Fourth Shard Hunter, a police officer from outside Morioh.

His Stand, Running For Your Life (named after his Image Song from Future Diary) can track any criminal activity so long as he's officially investigating it.

  • Fights Like a Normal: Since his Stand can't be used for combat, he has to rely on his police training and service pistol to defend himself. This becomes a problem when he faces a retired officer with years more experience and a more powerful Stand.
  • Jurisdiction Friction: He always tries to avert this whenever necessary, since his Stand doesn't work if he's doing an illegal or otherwise off-the-record investigation.
  • Logical Weakness: He can't track a crime that doesn't exist, so his options for who he can track down is very limited.
  • Occult Detective: He's actually a police officer, but he still fits the bill due to being a Stand user.

    Minene Uryu

Minene Uryu

Stand: Reject

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minene_nth_5871.jpg

The Ninth Shard Hunter, a mercenary from the Fenrir unit.

Her Stand, Reject is named after her first Image Song from Future Diary. It allows her to predict an opponents attacks and evade them.

Her sub-Stand, Brilliant Imitation, is named after her second Image Song. Taking the form of a grenade launcher, it can launch explosions that only damage what the user wants.

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: She's a mercenary in this story rather than a terrorist.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Her explosive rounds may seem devastating, but unless she's actually thinking of a target, they won't get damaged.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: When she sees Shinzo's Stand overpowering Juno's Red Love, Minene decides the best thing to do is get Juno to safety.
  • Logical Weakness: She can only predict actual attacks. Jogo is able to detain her by focusing on tying up her arms, which isn't technically an attack.
  • Official Couple: She's still dating Nishijima in this story, though due to her changed origin it's no longer a Dating Catwoman scenario.

    Tsubaki Kasugano

Tsubaki Kasugano

Stand: Cries of Avici

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6th_2268.jpg

The Sixth Shard hunter, and the leader of the Omekata religious group.

Her Stand, Cries of Avici (named after her Image Song "Cries of Avici (6)" from Future Diary), is a writing scroll that lets her see through the eyes of any living human within a five kilometer radius, and transmit her thoughts to the Omekata by writing on it.

  • Blind Seer: She's only legally blind, and does have some eyesight, but it's very weak. However, her Stand lets her make up for this by letting her see through the eyes of any living human within its range. The "seer" part comes in the form of her being able to use her Stand to transmit her thoughts to her followers.
  • Logical Weakness: If something causes her followers' eyes to close, her Stand winds up temporarily useless.
  • See the Invisible: It's implied that anyone she empowers with her Stand gains the ability to see Stands temporarily, which would be necessary for her followers to be able to target shard bearers on her behalf.
  • Super-Empowering: She can temporarily transfer some of her Stand energy to her followers. The energy is easy to disperse, but won't cause her injury when it does.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Very narrowly averted. Her Omekata were tracking down Minami's Stand thinking he was in the area, not knowing they'd wind up disrupting an electrical device that could leave all of Morioh without power if it was forcibly shut down. Luckily she's stopped just in time.

    Yomotsu Hirasaka

Yomotsu Hirasaka

Stand: Justice Rangers Go Twelve

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/r_00.jpg

The Twelfth Shard Hunter, a blind vigilante with a passion for justice.

His Stand, Justice Rangers Go Twelve (named after his Image Song "Justice Rangers GO 12th!" from Future Diary), is a belt with a detachable buckler that can change Yomotsu into a red-colored sentai hero. It can be shared with up to four other people, giving him an entire team of heroes to work with.

  • Adaptational Badass: Yeah, in this story he's an actual hero of justice. Well, he does target Stand users while hunting the actual shard bearer criminals, but at the very least his powers are the real deal here.
  • Blind Seer: He's completely blind, yet he's able to hold his own rather well.
  • Carry a Big Stick: His yellow counterpart gets a hammer called the Citrine Hammer.
  • Cool Sword: His blue counterpart gains a sword called the Sapphire Blade.
  • Irony: He gets knocked out by Strike Back, a team of Phantom Thieves.
  • Power Fist: His Stand gives him a pair of gauntlets called the Crimson Gauntlets.
  • Transformation Trinket: The form his Stand takes, and it can split into up to five copies to give Yomotsu an entire team.
  • Sniper Rifle: His green counterpart's weapon is a high-powered rifle called the Emerald Rifle.
  • Whip of Dominance: His pink counterpart uses a whip called the Rose Whip.

    Reisuke Hojo

Reisuke Hojo

Stand: Perfect Trap

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fifth_3954.jpg

The Fifth Shard Hunter, a little boy with a big imagination.

His Stand, Perfect Trap (named after his Image Song from Future Diary), is a piece of chalk that causes anything it draws to come to life and turn three-dimensional.

  • Cheerful Child: He gushes at tokusatsu, is constantly smiling without it coming off as creepy, and his imagination with using his Stand just comes off like a little kid trying to be a superhero.
  • Expy: He Stand works in a smiliar manner to Rudy's magic chalk from ChalkZone.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Since ordinary chalk constructs would easily dissipate if they took even a small amount of damage, Reisuke's Stand improves the durability of the drawings he brings to life.

    Hinata Hino

Hinata Hino

Stand: Never End

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hinata_7580.jpg

The Tenth Shard Hunter, a former classmate of Yukiteru and Yuno.

Her Stand, Never End (named after her Image Song from Future Diary), takes the form of a dog whistle that can direct and control any canine species.

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: She becomes part of the twelve hunters instead of her father, Karyuudo Tsukishima.
  • Crossover Couple: With Mitsuharu, a character (albeit minor) from Kamen Rider Drive.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Daughter in this case, but Hinata is just as skilled at handling dogs as her father. She even considers her Stand to be representative of the bond they share.
  • Logical Weakness: She's wide open if there happen to be no dogs around to control, or if they're busy carrying out another order while she's being confronted.
  • Loophole Abuse: Normally real-world objects can't damage Stands, but Hinata can transfer her Stand energy to the dogs she controls so that they're able to damage Stands.
  • Mythology Gag: In canon Hinata pretended to be a Diary Holder on behalf of her father. Here she's a legitimate member of the Shard Hunters.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: She was made into a Shard Hunter instead of her father since Karyuudo actually lacks an Image Song, unlike the other canon Diary Holders.
  • Second Love: She once had a crush on Yukiteru, but Yuno got to him first. She gets a second chance at love when she falls for Mitsuharu.
  • Super-Empowering: Hinata's Stand can strengthen the dogs it controls, making them a Super-Persistent Predator with infinite stamina, and even coating them in Stand energy so they can damage actual Stands.

Shard Stand Users

    Shinzo Hiroi

Shinzo Hiroi

Stand: Kickstart My Heart

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/heart_6.png

A former salaryman who was empowered by Egoist shard Number 002, Ninja Shadow Mosquito. He eventually mutated the shard into a Stand of his own.

His Stand, Kickstart My Heart (named after a song by Mötley Crüe), absorbs heat and damage to grow stronger over time.

  • Adaptational Badass: In canon Shinzo was merely the template used to create Heart Roidmude's human form. Here he gets to be badass all on his own.
  • Deuteragonist: He gets just as much screentime as Jogo, making him the second major character in the story.
  • Enemy Mine: He's more than willing to team up with the New Morioh Warriors to deal with truly dangerous threats, or even just the Shard Hunters.
  • Genre Savvy: He doesn't like other shard bearers committing unjustified crimes, since he knows the history of Morioh and how both the old and new generation of the Morioh Warriors will punish those who cause trouble in their town.
  • The Leader: Arguably this for the entire group of Shard Stand users, even over 001.
  • Leave Him to Me!: When Juno first unleashes her Red Love form, Shinzo immediately takes on the challenge, having Jogo protect Amagi instead.
  • Official Couple: He started dating Mizusu shortly after they met during Father Roche's gathering.

    Mitsuharu Kineta

Mitsuharu Kineta

Stand: Ego Brain

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/brain_1.png

An IT company member who was given Egoist shard Number 003, Cicada King. He's close friends with Shinzo.

His Stand, Ego Brain, is named after a song by System of a Down. It can emit a neurotoxin that can paralyze a target, and also produce an antidote to prevent them from dying.

  • Adaptational Badass: In canon he was only a template used for Brain Roidmude's human form. Here he has much more of an influence with a Stand of his own.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Of a sort, as he's much more capable of empathizing with people than Brain was.
  • Dating Catwoman: He soon winds up in a relationship with Hinata Hino, one of the Shard Hunters.
  • Hollywood Hacking: Ego Brain is capable of hacking into any electronic device instantly.
  • The Smart Guy: He's the major brains of his team, being able to help out any Shard Stand user that needs info for whatever reason.
  • Third Wheel: He was feeling this way ever since Misuzu joined the main trio. He started to fell this less when he found a bond with Hinata.

    Misuzu Hatori

Misuzu Hatori

Stand: The Medic

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/medic_4.png

A ballet dancer who was given Egoist shard Number 009, Dyson Sphere.

Her Stand, The Medic, is named after a song by indie rock band Foxing. It can repair anything that uses life energy, which even includes Stands.

  • Combat Medic: Misuzu is not only able to heal any Stand or living being, but she can also hold her own in a fight.
  • Combat Tentacles: Her Stand is capable of attacking with these.
  • Official Couple: She's introduced as being Shinzo's girlfriend.
  • Something about a Rose: Her Stand can create barriers made of rose petals for defense.

    Masuda Nobuo

Masuda Nobuo

Stand: Big Iron

A gym rat who was given Egoist shard Number 029, Mannequin Cat. He was trying to target the toughest people he could find to unleash his evolution, only for it to happen naturally.

His Stand, Big Iron, is named after a song by Johnny Cash. It can focus its punches for either reach or pure power.

  • Adaptational Badass: In canon he was one of the victims of the Iron Roidmude. Here he's a more active fighter.
  • Boring, but Practical: His Stand's only real skill is physical power, but its got that in spades.
  • Gender Bender: The pseudo-Stand Mannequin Cat is female in appearance, but when it mutates it becomes more male in appearance.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Big Iron proves the perfect Stand for a gym rat, as it proves to be a fast, durable, and strong Stand.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Big Iron's coloration is purple, and it has incredible speed and power.

    Kazuhiro Asaya

Kazuhiro Asaya

Stand: Paint it Black

A notable artist who was given Egoist shard Number 010, Illumiknight. He used his Stand to make realistic portraits, but had to keep the subjects overnight due to the effects of his Stand.

His Stand, Paint it Black (named after the song "Paint It, Black" by The Rolling Stones), manipulates strands of paint that disassemble inanimate objects to pigments and reform them elsewhere. When used on living beings it copies their form, but knocks them out in the process.

  • Eccentric Artist: Well, when you consider that he uses his Stand to boost his already exceptional art skills...
  • Framing the Guilty Party: He knew his apprentice was kidnapping girls for his own twisted reasons, so Kazuhiro decided to point the finger in his direction in regards to several girls that had gone missing. In reality he was keeping them safe while they recovered from the after-effects of his Stand.
  • Justified Criminal: Sort of. Using his Stand to create perfect portraits of the girls who commissioned them caused them to pass out from lack of energy (unless they had a Stand). Not wanting the secret of his art to get out, Kazuhiro thought the best solution was to keep them overnight for a while as they recovered.

    Yasuyuki Hirose

Yasuyuki Hirose

Stand: Instant Crush

A well-known Japanese comedian who was given Egoist shard Number 023, Lancelot, Dark Knight of the Underworld.

His Stand, Instant Crush (named after a song by Daft Punk), can create earthquakes with its massive hammer limbs.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's a big teddy bear, but don't underestimate him. When the friends he makes touring food trucks got hurt because of liquid explosives, he goes on the warpath.
  • Big Fun: Yasuyuki is a big guy and a professional comedian. Not to mention he gets along with almost anyone he meets.
  • Justified Criminal: He's been attacking the food trucks of a certain company, but he has good reason for it. The company has been secretly smuggling liquid explosives to destroy their competition.
  • Mighty Glacier: Instant Crush has a pretty low speed rating, but makes up for it in durability.
  • The Nose Knows: His Stand increases his sense of smell, which is great for tracking down things other than food. Like liquid explosives.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: He's of the impression that Stand users should use their power to help others. The trope is even named by one of his buddies.

    Shunsuke Kusaka

Shunsuke Kusaka

Stand: Camera

A photojournalist who was given Egoist shard Number 033, Chronomaly Machu Mech.

His Stand, Camera, is named after a song by R.E.M.. It can manipulate any photo it takes with its camera-like eye, as well as digitize any non-living object.

  • Demolitions Expert: Noted by the New Morioh Warriors, as Shunsuke is able to use his Stand to demolish buildings owned by a certain company without causing collateral damage.
  • Justified Criminal: He may have been demolishing buildings in order to get a scoop, but the buildings were going to collapse on their own anyway because the company who built them did shoddy work. Heck, they were called out on it in the media some years prior, but refused to learn any sort of lesson.
  • Never Hurt an Innocent: He makes sure no one gets caught up in the building collapses he causes.
  • Unknown Rival: To Ichiko Ohya from Phantom Thieves Origins, who managed to publish a scathing article on a corrupt company he was already investigating.

    Goro Minami

Goro Minami

Stand: High Voltage

An inventor who was given Egoist shard Number Number 024, Dragulas the Vampiric Dragon.

His Stand, High Voltage (named after a song by Linkin Park), is an independent Stand that can carry out programmed orders. It can manipulate and drain electrical currents, as well as travel through electronic devices.

  • Collateral Damage: His Stand causes this as it starts to mutate and evolve. Fortunately, no civilians were injured.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He creates an electricity-draining device based on one from a book he himself wrote, but modifies it so that emergency buildings such as hospitals would remain unaffected.
  • Genius Bruiser: His Stand is a very powerful one, and he himself is a genius inventor who knows how to use his independant Stand to its maximum potential.
  • Man of Kryptonite: His Stand acts as this for most other electric-based Stands, such as Red Hot Chili Pepper. An exception is Cosmic Mind, since the electrical energy it can channel is based on cosmic energy.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Minami in canon is said to have already been deceased, with his form being used by Volt Roidmude. Here he's still among the living.

    Bernard Ackah

Bernard Ackah

Stand: Gunman

An African-American actor who was given Egoist shard Number 017, Leviathan Dragon.

His Stand, Gunman (named after a song by Orden Ogan), can fire twin magnums with bullets that phase through solid matter.

  • Hand Cannon: His Stand's twin magnums, which have enough stopping power to damage Stands that have an A rank in Defense.
  • Mythology Gag: Gunman is a Stand based on the Gunman Roidmude, and Bernard played said Roidmude's human form. This is actually acknowledged in-story.
  • Pistol-Whipping: Just because you can get past his Stand's shooting range doesn't mean you're safe, as Gunman can actually use this trope to attack from close range.

    Shu Amagi

Shu Amagi

Stand: Voices

A matchmaker who was given Egoist shard Number 030, Acid Golem of Destruction.

His Stand, Voices, is named after a song by Disturbed. It can mimic any voice he's heard at least once, and hypnotize a person with the image of their perfect lover.

  • Always Someone Better: His sonic attacks aren't nearly as powerful as JK's.
  • Forced into Evil: The twisted scientist Kisaburo Sasamoto forced him to use his hypnotic powers to participate in a bride scam. While it allowed Amagi to mutate his shard into a proper Stand, he doesn't feel the cost was worth it.
  • Logical Weakness: Like most sound-based hypnosis, all someone has to do is cover their ears to stop it.
  • Make Some Noise: His Stand's main offensive ability is to launch powerful sonic attacks.

    Shingo Tachibana

Shingo Tachibana

Stand: The Judge

A retired police officer who was given Egoist shard Number 065, Djinn Buster.

His Stand, The Judge, is named after a song by Soul Asylum. It can paralyze a target with electrical whips from its fingers.

  • Batman Gambit: He goes under the name Judge when hunting criminals. This is because he suspects the violent vigilante Judge would hate someone using their name and acting under said name would lure him out of hiding.
  • The Cowl: Shingo is retired but still has a strong sense of justice. As a result, The Judge is fully capable of determining whether a person is guilty or innocent of a crime and doles out the appropriate punishment as a vigilante, but always leaving the target for the police to arrest.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: He's already a skilled police officer who lived to see retirment and is still going strong even in his golden years. Him getting a Stand was just icing on the cake.
  • Genre Savvy: He was well aware of the heroic Stand users keeping the streets of Morioh clean, so when hunting Judge he goes after the more high profile criminals like loan sharks and extortionists.
  • Shock and Awe: The Judge uses electric whips and a shock baton for offense.

    Takuro Mogi

Takuro Mogi

Stand: Shoot

A young vigilante and high school student who was given Egoist shard Number 091, Thunder Shock Dragon.

His Stand, Shoot (named after a song by Sonic Youth), can fire clean warheads that track their target via GPS, and will swerve to avoid anything not targeted.

  • Ascended Fanboy: He idolizes Strike Back and tries to emulate their method of dealing with corruption, but in a way that's unique to him instead of being a flat-out copycat.
  • Calling Card: He sends a warning before attacking a non-living target so that police have enough time to vacate the area and ensure no innocent civilians are harmed.
  • Forced into Evil: Some biker gang thugs tried to coerce him into an actual bomb plot, but they did it sloppily and gave Takuro just enough leeway to make sure the scheme failed.
  • Having a Blast: Not only can his Stand fire explosive missiles, but up close it can defend itself using blast darts.

    Hajime Taga

Hajime Taga

Stand: By the Sword

An ex-convict who was given Egoist shard Number 007, Lucky Straight.

His Stand, By the Sword, is named after a song by Slash. It possesses twin swords that can slash hard enough to create blades of pure energy.

  • Cool Sword: His Stand has two of them, with sharp barbs that emit energy when used to slash.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He was part of a trio of bank robbers, and during the heist that got him and one other buddy arrested, one of the trio killed Keigo's father. It wasn't him and it wasn't the other buddy who got arrested, and now both are trying to take down the third.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He was one of the shard bearers first introduced by Father Roche, despite not being one of the main trio.
  • Knight of Cerebus: His appearance starts a dangerous new chapter involving exploring the deeper backstories of the Shard Hunters.

    Reiko Nishihori

Reiko Nishihori

Stand: The Seeker

The daughter of the infamous Copycat Pirate, she was given Egoist shard Number 050, Black Ship of Corn.

Her Stand, The Seeker, is named after a song by The Who. It can cause a target to either rage out of control or become incredibly submissive.

  • Antagonistic Offspring: She never confronts her criminal father directly (at the time she's introduced the man has already been arrested and imprisoned), she merely targets all the people he ever copied to send a message that he's not as smart as he thinks.
  • Sinister Scythe: Her Stand uses this as a defensive weapon should she ever get confronted.
  • Unstoppable Rage: She uses her Stand to inflict this on criminal gangs, making them fight until all but one is knocked out. That last person becomes an inversion of this trope, so submissive they readily answer all police questioning.

Villains

    Father Roche

Father Roche

Stand: Egoist

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roche_2.jpg

A Stand user created years ago by Keicho Nijimura, he now seeks to unlock his Stand's full potential.

His Stand, Egoist, is named after the Image Song of Deus ex Machina from Future Diary. It can instantly slow down time, and has 108 spheres that can give people pseudo-Stands.

  • Batman Gambit: He started spreading around his Stand's shards and convinced them to cause trouble, knowing heroic Stand users would want to stop them, thus causing the shards to be destroyed and powering up Egoist in the process.
  • Big Bad: Serves as this for Stars Are Eternal, as the one causing trouble by spreading his Stand's shards to create havoc and power himself up.
  • Expy: His Stand's ability to slow down time resembles the Slowdown used by the Roidmudes.
  • Growing Muscles Sequence: As Egoist loses shards, either having them destroyed or mutated, it starts to gain noticeable muscle definition in certain locations of its body.
  • Musical Theme Naming: In a throwback to earlier JoJo stories, Father Roche is named after rock band Papa Roach.
  • Mystical 108: Egoist has 108 shards in total all over its body. Father Roche's goal is to get rid of them all in order to achieve his Stand's full potential.
  • Super-Empowering: Egoist can grant shards of itself to people that give them a sort of pseudo-Stand. If that person happens to have Stand potential, the shards will mutate into a Stand fitting that person.

    Light Yagami
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lightyagamiimage.jpg

The serial killer Kira, though he isn't nearly as effective as his canon counterpart. He was given Egoist shard Number 005, Doom Chimera Dragon, but couldn't get it to mutate.

  • Adaptational Karma: In canon, he is gravely wounded when Touta Matsuda shoots him in a rage, and when he tries begging Ryuk to kill the SPK and save him, Ryuk instead kills him by writing his name in the Death Note as a final humiliation. Here, while he survives, he is brought down by Jogo and his friends, and he is arrested by the police afterward.
  • Adaptational Wimp: In canon, the lack of any other supernatural forces (as well as knowledge about them) meant he could use the Death Note in tandem with his own intelligence to act as Kira without being caught, which lasted for years. Here, he gets completely overwhelmed by Josuke and his son, Jogo, after only a week of killing despite gaining a Stand ability from Father Roche.
  • All for Nothing: He tries to copycat Phantom Thief Joker to hide his attempt to steal back the Death Note. However, it's already been burned to ashes, and on L's recommendation no less.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: He presumably still desires to be the god of a new world, but the problem is he's not only trying it in an age of advanced internet, but also superpowers that can put even shinigami to shame. He only gets two major appearances before he's dealt with for good.
  • Breaking Old Trends: The author, mtnetsurfer, has up until this point made non-JoJo villains into heroes during the series (especially Junko Enoshima and Lila Rossi), and has even made Light into the hero of a Peggy Sue in one of his earliest stories. Yet here he remains a villain.
  • Recursive Canon: It's noted the manga/anime for Death Note does exist in the New Universe, though the main character isn't actually named.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: He's a Warm-Up Boss for Jogo, but serves to explain the functions of Father Roche's Stand and its various facets.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In canon, he gets shot by Touta Matsuda in his final confrontation, and is reduced to a blubbering mess as he pleads for Ryuk to kill the SPK members... only to die when Ryuk writes his name in the Death Note instead as a final kick in the teeth. Here, he lives due to his Death Note being taken from him by Jogo and Josuke and ultimately destroyed, but he is still brought to justice when Jogo and his friends take him down, leading to his arrest.

    Kisaburo Sasamoto

Kisaburo Sasamoto

A scientist working with sound technology, but for twisted ends.

  • Breaking Old Trends: He's the first villain faced by the Joestar clan with no supernatural powers whatsoever. Subverted for the series as a whole, since many of Phantom Thief Joker's targets were mundane criminals.
  • Connected All Along: He's actually a member of Remnant, the evil organization facing Strike Back during Phantom Thieves Origins.
  • For Science!: He only cares about his research. It's why he wound up breaking up with his old girlfriend, who didn't share his views.
  • Genre Blindness: He used Amagi's Stand to deter police investigations, but as Shinzo notes that would only make the New Morioh Warriors and Shard Hunters more suspicious.
  • Revealing Cover Up: His attempts to use a female officer to get his case dropped backfired, as it just made the police realize she was mentally compromised, prompting them to send in more supernatural investigators.

    So Utsugi

So Utsugi

A dangerous killer who acts as the vigilante Judge from the Judge Time website.

  • Didn't Think This Through: He doesn't do research on his targets, just goes out and kills them when he gets a name and a grievance. This lets the New Morioh Warriors lure him into a trap.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Shingo and the New Morioh Warriors. Shingo is also a vigilante but not a killer, and the New Morioh Warriors are considered protectors dealing with threats normal police aren't capable of handling. Utsugi, on the other hand, is more than willing to kill anyone who is posted on his website.
  • Faking the Dead: He killed a young man then tried to pass the corpse off as his own. It worked for five years, except one retired officer never bought the story.
  • Honor Before Reason: He killed someone who saved him from bullies because he didn't want to be seen as anything but an avenger. He admits that anyone else would find it completely stupid.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: He thought he could frame JK as Judge in order to distract Shingo. Except Shingo has a Stand that can determine a person's guilt or innocence, which renders the attempt moot.

Supporting Characters

    Kanami Mashita

Kanami Mashita

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b9_1_0.png

A popular idol who comes to the New Morioh Warriors for help dealing with a dangerous stalker.

  • Commonality Connection: She met her boyfriend Kagato when trying to get a fortune told about her love life, only to learn he was her destined lover. They had one date to try it out and found a real connection as a result.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: She thinks she's being targeted by a monster, and describes it in such a way that it's clear the individual is a shard bearer. Turns out a shard bearer has been stalking her, but not the one behind the monster she saw.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: She completely ambushes an Omekata member trying to attack her boyfriend Kagato.

    Kagato Mifune

Kagato Mifune

A Tarot fortune teller who was given Egoist shard Number 096, Dark Mist.

  • Always Chaotic Evil: Averted. Kagato and several previous shard bearers (especially those aiding Shard Stand users) actually turn out to be surprisingly benevolent.
  • Face of a Thug: Dark Mist is a shard that looks incredibly monstrous, but it was given to the kind and heroic Kagato.
  • Fortune Teller: He did this as a hobby, and it turns out he has genuine precognitive abilities.
  • Official Couple: He's been dating Kanami for some time.

    Kyu Saijo

Kyu Saijo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyu_saijo.png

A member of the Tokyo Police Department and notable fanfiction writer who was given Egoist shard Number 072, Shogi Rook.

  • Composite Character: He winds up doing the same thing as Roidmude #072, the same Roidmude who acted as his twin in canon.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Non-lethal version, as his shard is destroyed by the Reapers just as he explains to the New Morioh Warriors why he's not really a bad guy.
  • Knight of Cerebus: An unintentional example, but during his appearance several shard bearers start attacking him, showing Father Roche is getting impatient and wants his Stand at full power ASAP, using his powers to create Reaper shard bearers.
  • Mundane Utility: Up until his introduction he'd been using his slowdown to make it to work and his hobby with time to spare.
  • Online Alias: Like canon his real name is actually Kenta Imai, but when one of his fans noted his pen name of Kyu Saijo (when read in Japanese naming conventions, Saijo Kyu translates to "superior"), he decided to keep using that name for his day-to-day work.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: When he learns his favorite anime is being given a live-action movie, but with a cheery voice actress playing the main lead, he rages and goes off to give her a piece of his mind.
