    Josuke Higashikata

Josuke Higashikata

Stand: Crazy Diamond

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/josuke_higashikata_anime_0.png

The Fifth JoJo. Joseph Joestar's illegitimate son from a drunken one-night stand with a random woman.

His Stand, Crazy Diamond, is named after the song "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd. With it, Josuke is able to heal and restore nearly anything and anyone, simply through touch. Of the ways this can be applied, some notable examples including healing wounds (sans his own), breaking objects and combining them into one, as well as reducing something to its original components.

  • Action Dad: He's still active as a hero in Morioh years later when he has a son of his own.
  • Adaptational Expansion: Josuke's canon Berserk Button about people insulting his pompadour is given more context here — as a child, he and his mother were saved by Sanji Matsumoto, one of the protagonists of Steel Ball Run, during a sudden snowstorm. While Josuke couldn't see Sanji's face due to their surroundings being dark at the time, he did see the man's pompadour, later inspiring him to style his hair after his childhood savior. He sees people's insults about his hair as equal to insulting Sanji, which is unforgiveable in his eyes.
  • Berserk Button: Teasing his hair, of course, but also threatening innocent lives. Also, self-righteous punks, if his hunting of the serial killer Kira (as in Light Yagami, not Yoshikage) is any indication.
  • Crossover Relatives: His cousin is Shinji Ikari through his mother being a sister of Yui Ikari. This also makes him a nephew-in-law to Gendo Ikari, Yui's husband.
  • Heroic Bastard: Like his canon counterpart, he was born from an affair Joseph Joestar had with his mother, Tomoko, while he was still married to Suzi Q. He grew up to become a heroic Joestar who stopped many enemies in Morioh, including Yoshikage Kira.
  • History Repeats: When Josuke was a child, he and his mother were saved by a pompadour-wearing man, Sanji Matsumoto, during a freak snowstorm. Years later, Josuke himself would save the life of one Daiya Owada, who would go on to name his own biker gang the Crazy Diamonds after his savior's Stand, Crazy Diamond (Daiya couldn't actually see Crazy Diamond, lacking any sort of supernatural affinity, but he did hear Josuke calling out that name as he fought Daiya's attackers).
  • Like Father, Like Son: At one point, he belts out his father Joseph's famous, "OH MY GOD!"
  • Relationship Upgrade: Gets this with Pinkie early on in the story.

    Pinkie Pie

Diane Hanasakura

Stand: Smile

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pinkie.jpg

Josuke's childhood friend and love interest. A cheerful and friendly girl who is able to make friends with almost anyone.

Her Stand, Smile, is named after the "Smile Song" by Andrea Libman and can conjure up a toon world spanning the entire territory that Pinkie is currently within, causing everyone within this world to be afflicted with toon physics.

  • Action Mom: She's still fighting threats to Morioh after having a child of her own.
  • Amusing Injuries: Smile invokes this through toon physics. As long as it's in effect, no one can suffer lasting injuries let alone die, which incidentally makes it a direct counter to Killer Queen.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Her temper is long, but get her mad, then prepare to suffer the combined power of Popeye and Bugs Bunny.
  • Burning with Anger: Josuke's plan to make Koichi seem undesirable in a effort to get Yukako away from him, a stupid plan in hindsight, causes Pinkie to literally burst into flames and do a good impression of a burnt-out match afterward. Largely because it's supposed to be Okuyasu who's the dumb one of the group, but also because Josuke went behind Pinkie's back to do this (Pinkie was in the middle of trying to come up with a better idea).
  • But Not Too Foreign: She's actually part Italian-American.
  • Character Catchphrase: She has a couple:
    • "Damn you, plot!" — Whenever something happens in the story to somehow aid the bad guys in spite of how careful the heroes are.
    • "Patent pending." — Whenever she brings out a comically oversized gadget using her Stand power, followed by someone reading the name of the gizmo as printed on said gadget.
    • "Keep smiling!" — Said more by Smile than her, but regardless, is used as a way of trying to cheer up those around her.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She's known Josuke for years, and during the story, they become an Official Couple.
  • Expy: Smile's appearance is largely based on Candelila, even having the same catchphrase.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: She knows she's in a fanfic, but she can't interact with the reader at any point. She merely has a general idea of the plot, though even she can be caught off-guard.
  • Genre Savvy: She knows so many cartoon cliches it borders on Required Secondary Powers for her Stand.
  • Kiai: Based on the Japanese onomatopoeia for laughter, no less. It's basically her going "LOL" while doing Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs.
    Pinkie Pie: WARAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAIRAI! KEEP SMILING!
  • Living Mood Ring: Color drains from her entire form (including her hair and clothes) whenever she's afraid.
  • Man of Kryptonite: To Yoshikage, of all people. Even his Bites the Dust is incapable of killing her due to how many impossible feats cartoons are capable of.
  • Mythology Gag: She naturally retains her "Pinkie Promise" from canon, and even notes to Fluttershy that it'd be absurd for her to remember every detail about everyone since she doesn't have some sort of secret party planning cave.
  • Not Hyperbole: She notes to Jotaro that she knows everything about everyone in Morioh. And she's not kidding either, since she has an eidetic memory.
  • Odd Friendship: With Yukako, whom she offers to help find a way to catch Koichi's interest. In a healthy manner, for the record.
  • Omniglot: In addition to Japanese and English, Pinkie also knows Italian, something Tonio appreciates.
  • Pie in the Face: Does this a few times. With Okuyasu and Yukako, she makes sure to use their favorite flavors. With Terunosuke, she deliberately goes with a flavor he hates.
  • Positive Friend Influence: Yukako starts pursuing her crush on Koichi in a much healthier way compared to canon thanks to Pinkie's influence.
  • Scars Are Forever: She was hit with the Stand arrow right through the chest (good thing she had Stand potential), and that scar can still be seen years later.
  • Shipper on Deck: She does admit Yukako might have a chance with Koichi, but she needs to change her outlook on life first. So she does all she can to help.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: She delivers a preemptive one on Angelo when he tries to pin the blame for Ryohei's death on her and Josuke not paying more attention, basically calling him out on his It's All About Me attitude.
  • You Killed My Father: It turns out Yoshikage killed her father trying to get to her mother.

    Koichi Hirose

Koichi Hirose

Stand: Echoes

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/koichi_hirose_anime.png

A young schoolboy who befriends Josuke and Pinkie, winding up wrapped in the bizarre adventure in the process.

His Stand, Echoes, is named after a song by Pink Floyd. A rather unique Stand due to the fact that it has multiple different forms called Acts, with the first two having powers relating to sounds and their effects, while the third and final Act can generate a gravity well upon its target.

  • Action Dad: After he and Yukako have a daughter, he continues to act as a protector of Morioh.
  • Adaptational Badass: Thanks to additional training from Kakyoin.
  • Crossover Relatives: He's cousins with Yasuho from the canon version of Jojolion (which takes places in an alternate reality, hence why it falls under this trope).
  • Good Is Not Nice: He's not above using his Stand to do dirty things to rotten people, especially if they're getting in the way of him helping his friends.
  • Happily Married: Once Yukako straightens out, Koichi does answer her feelings positively, to the point where they do later get married.
  • Omniglot: During Golden Wind, he gets Rohan to write that he and Yukako know Italian so they can easily navigate Italy while looking for Giorno.
  • Super Cop: During Stars Are Eternal, he becomes part of the Morioh police force, specializing in bringing in Stand using criminals.
  • What Does She See in Him?: While his friends understand why Yukako is in love with him, a lot of other guys are confused as to why a beauty like Yukako would like a "shrimp" like Koichi.

    Okuyasu Nijimura

Okuyasu Nijimura

Stand: The Hand

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/okuyasu_nijimura_anime.png

A delinquent boy and the younger brother of Keicho who befriends Josuke and Pinkie after they defeat him and his brother.

His Stand, The Hand, is named after The Band. With a single swipe of his Stand's right hand, Okuyasu is able to erase anything along the arc's path, with the resulting gap closing almost immediately afterward. One example of him using this ability is to erase the space between himself and whoever or whatever is on the other side of where he swiped, resulting in them getting pulled straight towards him.

  • Adaptational Intelligence: He'll be the first to admit he's not smart, but he still shows greater insight and common sense than canon.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: During Stars Are Eternal, he realizes the world is modernizing with just about everyone getting their own website, and he suggests they set one up for the New Morioh Warriors. Josuke and Koichi are stunned at what a genuinely good idea that is.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Despite being at odds with Josuke when they first met, the two quickly become best friends.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: Despite his brother's belief that he's the former, Okuyasu's actions throughout the story show he's actually the latter.
  • Genre Savvy: He's able to make full use of Pinkie's toon world while it's active, noting that even someone as dim-witted as him should be able to understand how a cartoon works.
  • Heel–Face Turn: He was originally compliant in his brother Keicho's attempts to euthanize their father. But unlike Keicho, Okuyasu's hands were largely clean from the deaths caused, so when Josuke suggested an alternative, he was all for it. He later joins the team after his brother's death.
  • Hidden Depths: Given how dangerous his Stand's power can be, it says something that he never once uses it to lethal effect, not even during the brief time he was an enemy or against the guy who killed his older brother.

    Rohan Kishibe

Rohan Kishibe

Stand: Heaven's Door

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rohan_kishibe_anime.png

An acclaimed mangaka with an eccentric personality. Initially coming to blows with Josuke and the gang, he soon becomes a staunch ally of theirs.

His Stand, Heaven's Door, is named after the song "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan. Its main ability is to transform people into living books, allowing Rohan to gain many bits and pieces of information regarding said person, as well as force people to follow commands that he writes down onto their pages.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In canon, Rohan was a Jerkass to One towards Josuke, though not without reason. Here he's more neutral towards him, neither liking nor hating him, but certainly respecting him.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Under the effects of Cheap Trick, Rohan expects no one to be able to believe him. Imagine his shock when Pinkie shows up and guesses everything that went down except the offending Stand's name.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He's an Eccentric Artist who will do anything to insure his manga is believable for his readers... But he refuses to include sociopathic characters, knowing they'd immediately alienate his fanbase.
  • Graceful Loser: When Josuke and Pinkie make a more clever way of cheating at cee-lo that he can't detect, he admits it without reservation.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: During his fight with Josuke, he tries to get Josuke to open his eyes by insulting his hair. When Josuke finally does open his eyes in anger, Rohan shows Josuke his manuscript in an effort to trigger his Stand, thinking he's won. He's immediately shown otherwise when Josuke manages to slug him hard with Crazy Diamond. Turns out Rohan throwing out insults without thinking got Josuke blinded with rage, so he couldn't even see the manuscript.
  • Logical Weakness: Memories can be a fickle thing, so if there's something a person doesn't know, Rohan can't read about it. He also can't know everything about a person instantly since Heaven's Door turns people into living books. He has to physically read the pages, meaning he can be interrupted while reading someone.
  • Mundane Utility: Horrifying as the prospect of Rohan writing in commands to control a person is, it does have practical applications, such as allowing a person to suddenly be fluent in a foreign language.
  • Ship Tease: When Reimi admits Rohan grew up to be her type of man and that she might return as an angel, Rohan actually gets flustered at the idea.
  • Took a Level in Badass: At first he needed his entire manuscript to be seen for his Stand to trigger. Later when he learns about Stands properly, he only needs one page. After his encounter with Josuke, he learns how to give his Stand a proper physical form.

    Yukako Yamagishi

Yukako Yamagishi

Stand: Love Deluxe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yukako_yamagishi_anime.png

A girl with a crush on Koichi. After initially lashing out at him due to a bad case of Poor Communication Kills, she eventually shapes up and becomes a trusted ally of the team.

Her Stand, Love Deluxe, is named after an album by Sade and grants her Prehensile Hair.

  • Adaptation Expansion: She's more involved in the story than canon, where she really only had two major arcs.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: She starts off similar to her canon counterpart but actually manages to shake off her Yandere tendencies thanks to her friendship with Pinkie.
  • Berserk Button: She flies off the handle if Koichi is threatened in any way. There have been times when Pinkie has had to tie her down while they're getting Koichi out of a jam just because her Stand at its strongest could destroy an entire building due to rage.
  • Happily Married: She does eventually get to marry Koichi, and they even have a daughter together.
  • Odd Friendship: Yukako is normally introverted, so her being friends with the more extroverted Pinkie can come off as this.
  • Sweet Tooth: Implied. When Pinkie hits her with a chocolate mousse pie (through a phone line no less) Yukako notes that's her favorite flavor.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Between the Cinderella incident and Pinkie's coaching, Yukako starts to open up more. It's part of the reason Koichi starts to fall for her for real.
  • Uniformity Exception: She's the only member of the main heroes (besides Hayato, who's purely support) whose Stand has no true physical form, instead being bound to her hair.

    Kosaku Kawajiri

Kosaku Kawajiri

Stand: Under Pressure

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kosaku_kira_anime.png

An ordinary salaryman who met a grave fate at the hands of Kira in the original universe. Here, he is given a chance to undo his gruesome demise with a Stand power to call his own.

His Stand, Under Pressure, is named after a song by Queen. As the name implies, this Stand gives Kosaku total control over various forms of physical pressure.

  • Allergic to Routine: The reason his marriage with his wife was falling apart in the first place was because of how dissatisfied he was with how mundane and monotonous his life had become. Getting a Stand and the subsequent Weirdness Magnet properties that came along with it basically ensured every day could bring something new, pulling him out of his rut.
  • Ascended Extra: We only ever saw this guy's body in canon, and only know things about him through Kira's perspective. Here we learn much more about him.
  • Foil: To Yoshikage. Both are salarymen, and both have a Stand named after a Queen song. The difference is that while Yoshikage prefers a quiet life in the background, Kosaku is Allergic to Routine and felt his life was crap before Kakyoin pierced him with the Stand arrow.
  • Happily Married: Not at first, since his wife only dated him to brag to her friends, and only married him because he got her pregnant. But she at first thought Kosaku was boring. That is until he gained a Stand and Grew a Spine as a result, causing her to fall in love with him for real, saving their marriage.
  • Ironic Name: Zigzagged. Ever since he got his Stand, Kosaku felt life's pressures just wash off him, helping him relax. He can certainly make villains feel pressure, however, in the most physical sense of the term.
  • Mundane Utility: Kosaku uses his Stand to break open his landlord's bag and pay him off with his own money.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Big time. When Yoshikage first grabs him, he gets shocked by Kosaku's powers.
  • Took a Level in Badass: His wife certainly thinks so, and all things considered, its hard to argue.

    Hayato Kawajiri

Hayato Kawajiri

Stand: Party in the CIA

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hayato_kawajiri_anime.png

A young boy and the son of Kosaku Kawajiri. He takes a much more active role in the story compared to the original universe.

His Stand, Party in the CIA, is named after a song by "Weird Al" Yankovic. Taking the form of a camcorder, it acts as the ultimate form of surveillance, allowing Hayato to view and monitor the interior of any building, through the simple act of him pointing his Stand at any of the building's windows.

  • Adaptational Badass: He actually gets a Stand of his own, which helps in taking down Yoshikage.
  • Adaptive Ability: His Stand can actually improve over time as new developments in video and audio technologies are discovered.
  • Decomposite Character: His overall character is split between himself and Original Character Riku Yamashita. He takes on his normal surveillance role, while Riku is the one "behind enemy lines" as the son of the man Yoshikage disguised himself as.
  • Like Father, Like Son: As is the normal rule when using a Stand arrow, once it gives Kosaku a Stand, Hayato in turn gains a Stand of his own.
  • Magical Camera: The main physical form of his Stand is a camcorder that can be seen and held by non-Stand users, and thus carried around to broadcast images half a city away.
  • Mission Control: Acts as this for Riku, guiding him in discovering Yoshikage's covert disguise as Takashi Yamashita.

Villains

    Yoshikage Kira

Yoshikage Kira

Stand: Killer Queen, Sheer Heart Attack, Bites the Dust.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yoshikage_kira_anime.png

The main villain of Diamond is Unbreakable, a serial killer masquerading as an ordinary salaryman. He wishes to live a quiet life, but his vile actions bring the attention of Josuke and the others.

His Stand, Killer Queen, is named after a song by Queen. Killer Queen can turn anything that it touches into a bomb that it can then remotely detonate by pressing its thumb against its index finger.

His first sub-Stand, Sheer Heart Attack, is named after an album by Queen. It functions much like a heat-seeking missile, targeting whatever the warmest object within the vicinity is, automatically exploding upon reaching its target.

His second sub-Stand, Bites the Dust, is named after the song "Another One Bites the Dust", by Queen. Brought upon by Kira getting pierced by the Stand Arrow a second time, Bites the Dust acts like a trap that activates in response to Kira's identity being revealed in any way. Once triggered, it causes a temporal loop of about one hour prior to its detonation, resulting in the repeated deaths of anyone killed by Bites the Dust in the previous loop.

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: He tries to Kill and Replace Kosaku Kawajiri like in canon, only to find the man has undergone Adaptational Badass and has his own Stand. Instead, he winds up pulling this off on another salaryman named Takashi Yamashita.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: For the most part, yes, but there are two exceptions. First, he remembers killing Pinkie's father, since the man fought back hard and forced him to give up on his actual target, Pinkie's mother. Second, he remembers killing Reimi. Though in the second case he had forgotten somehow and blames it on the length of time it had been since then, coupled with stress from being hunted, since her fighting back would normally have stuck out in his mind.
  • Contrived Coincidence: He's dumbfounded when it turns out Takashi Yamashita's next door neighbor is Kosaku Kawajiri.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He finds himself falling in love with the wife of the man whose life he replaced. To his shock, it results in a child.
  • Karmic Death: Even more than canon, as the final blow that sends him in the path of the ambulance that kills him comes from Pinkie Pie, whose father he had killed prior to the story.
  • Reincarnation: As his own son, no less. Said son was conceived on the day he died, thus the fetus didn't have any blood (which is considered the conduit for the soul).
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Because he spent so long killing without getting caught and sticking to the background, he thought he was favored by luck and fate. But it's well-established throughout the story that fate actually favors the Joestar clan, and since Josuke (a member of said clan), is one of the people on his trail, Yoshikage quickly finds himself cornered.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: His reaction when he finds out Pinkie's Smile is even capable of countering Bites The Dust.

    Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri

Anjuro "Angelo" Katagiri

Stand: Aqua Necklace

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anjuro_katagiri.png

A villainous Stand user and a Serial Killer that Ryohei arrested in the past.

His Stand, Aqua Necklace, is named after the album "Aqua" by Asia. It can take the form of any liquid, as well as possess people by forcing itself into someone's body through their mouth.

  • And I Must Scream: He gets sealed inside a local rock, which is later dubbed the Angelo Stone and becomes a popular meeting place for couples.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He dislikes people who would leave their cigarette butts and dog shit in public with no consideration for others.
  • Graceful Loser: While he was on death row prior to gaining a Stand, he'd come to accept his fate and that his fun was over. Keicho targeting him with the Stand arrow changed all that.
  • Hidden Depths: He's legitimately intelligent, the main reason his Stand is so puny and more suited to infiltration despite him being such a big guy. He actually comes up with several clever schemes while trying to take out Josuke and Pinkie.
  • Irony: His favorite targets are people he thinks are cocky, yet he himself is probably the cockiest person in the setting.
  • Oh, Crap!: Thanks to Pinkie letting him know about Josuke hating people insulting his hair, Angelo realizes he's in deep crap when he accidentally does so a second time (at a point where Josuke had already partially sealed him inside a rock).
  • Stupid Evil: So many of his actions are so pointlessly evil they put him square in the heroes' sights and earn their ire to the point he gets cornered.
  • Villains Out Shopping: Prior to trying to target Josuke and Pinkie, he picked up a few part-time jobs to get pocket cash while in Morioh.

    Keicho Nijimura

Keicho Nijimura

Stand: Bad Company

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/keicho_nijimura_anime.png

Okuyasu's older brother and the one responsible for the rise of Stands in Morioh.

His Stand, Bad Company, is named after the band Bad Company. It appears as a battalion of miniature soldiers and military vehicles, and comes equipped with many appropriate tools and weapons, such as M16 assault rifles, missiles, and tank shells.

  • Expy: When Pinkie sees his Stand, she's reminded of a mix of G.I. Joe and Toy Story, with a dash of Small Soldiers mixed in.
  • Fatal Flaw: He's impulsive and impatient, causing him to make several Stupid Evil mistakes that Pinkie calls him out on.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: He thinks he's the "Responsible Sibling", but Pinkie argues that his actions and demeanor actually make him the "Foolish Sibling" to Okuyasu's "Responsible".
  • Gave Up Too Soon: He thought Koichi wasn't worth wasting time on when his Stand only manifested as a egg. Had he been patient or worked to try and help Koichi, he would have seen just how powerful he could be. This in general is a problem of his, as he gives up on a new Stand user once it's clear they can't kill his father.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: He's not only this for Diamond is Unbreakable, having made half the Stand using villains (Yoshihiro made the other half with his own Stand arrow), but also for Stars Are Eternal due to Father Roche being one of the Stand users he created.
  • I've Come Too Far: As much as he'd like to try alternatives to his father's condition, he's already killed too many people with the Stand arrow in his possession to live a normal life.
  • Obsessively Organized: To the point that he can't properly comprehend chaos, and thus can't make use of Pinkie's toon world the way Okuyasu can. This is even reflected in his Stand, which can only commit to offense or defense, when a real army can easily use a mix of both at the same time.
  • Revenge Myopia: Averted. While he knows it was Jotaro killing DIO that caused his father to mutate so horribly due to the spore in his head and his regeneration Stand, Keicho doesn't blame Jotaro for his father's fate. Rather he blames DIO for putting him in that position in the first place.
  • So Proud of You: He admits as much to Okuyasu from the afterlife during the final fight against Yoshikage.
  • Younger Than They Look: He looks like a grown man, but he's only a year or two older than Okuyasu, who's a high school freshman like Josuke and Pinkie.

    Akira Otoishi

Akira Otoishi

Stand: Red Hot Chili Pepper

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akira_otoishi_anime.png

A college student who wants to be a rock star, and clearly has the skills to pull it off.

His Stand, Red Hot Chili Pepper, is named after the band Red Hot Chili Peppers and is based around electricity.

  • Batman Gambit: It's implied he turned "Bug-Eaten" and a different rat into Stand users in one last effort for revenge against Josuke and Jotaro, knowing they would never let a potentially dangerous Stand user run loose.
  • Death or Glory Attack: In a pinch, he can have his Stand channel an entire city's worth of electric power. It boosts his strength and speed tremendously, but should the gambit fail, he winds up drained for hours and is wide open as a result.
  • Expy: Pinkie compares his Stand's appearance to a "Super Saiyan Freiza".
  • Meta Guy: He's the first person in-story to acknowledge the Musical Theme Naming Stands tend to have (with only a few dozen exceptions). He then admits that he did it on purpose with his Stand, since the Red Hot Chili Peppers are his favorite band.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: His great skill at manipulating Pinkie's toon world teaches her how to tune certain individuals out of it, ensuring later villains aren't able to do the same.
  • The Power of Rock: With nothing but his rage and desire to let it all out, he's able to fix his broken pinkie (courtesy of Josuke) and belt out a guitar solo that wows the heroes.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: In Stars Are Eternal, it's revealed that he gave Father Roche some tips on how to improve his Stand, leading to the events of that story.

    "Bug-Eaten"

"Bug-Eaten"

Stand: Ratt

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bug_eaten_anime.png

An average rat that was shot with the Stand arrow by Akira. There was also a second rat with the same Stand.

Its Stand, Ratt, is named after the rock band Ratt. Its main form of offense is firing barbed darts that can melt anything upon impact, be it flesh or metal.

  • Adaptational Expansion: In canon, its Stand was never named in-universe, only in promotional material. Here, Pinkie names the Stand.
  • It Can Think: While the first unnamed rat is easily dispatched, "Bug-Eaten" shows much more cunning.
  • It's All About Me: Josuke, Jotaro, and Pinkie surmise from its actions that it sees itself as the only thing worthy of existing.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: It may have a dangerous Stand that can easily let it overrun normal humans, but it's still a Nearly Normal Animal and is easily overwhelmed by human Stand users, especially Pinkie's Stand and its toon world ability.
  • Shout-Out: Pinkie names the Stand "Ratt" with an extra "T" because neither rat is "messing around".

    Yoshihiro Kira

Yoshihiro Kira

Stand: Atom Heart Father

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yoshihiro_kira_anime.png

The father of Yoshikage. He only desires to keep his son safe, regardless of how amoral Yoshikage's actions are.

His Stand, Atom Heart Father, is named after the album "Atom Heart Mother" by Pink Floyd. Bound by a Polaroid camera, this Stand can take pictures with several extraordinary properties; one example of this is everything inside the photo is turned into an isolated space defined by the photo's frame, preventing anyone from getting into or out of said space.

  • Brought Down to Normal: As normal as a floating photograph can be, that is. Jotaro manages to seal Yoshihiro in a photo where there's nothing but him, meaning he can't use the bulk of Atom Heart Father's abilities and is limited to floating around in his new polaroid body.
  • Didn't See That Coming: He's shocked to learn that Yoshikage is going to be a father.
  • Doting Parent: Deconstructed when he's called out for actually helping to cover for his son's serial killings by multiple characters.
  • Foil: Compared to Keicho, who just shot random people and hoped for the best (which resulted in him killing a number of people or getting Stands that couldn't euthanize his father), Yoshihiro lets the arrow guide him to find Stand users that can aid Yoshikage in hiding and successfully finds several allies that are willing to help him out for their own ends.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Helping Yoshikage gain a Stand ultimately proves his undoing when Josuke tricks Yoshikage into killing his own father.
  • Loophole Abuse: Kosaku is able to halt Yoshihiro's attack on Josuke and Jotaro by increasing the atmospheric pressure in Atom Heart Father's sphere of influence. It may be removed from reality, but it's still subject to natural laws of physics such as gravity.

    Ken Oyanagi

Ken Oyanagi

Stand: Boy II Man

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ken_oyanagi_anime.png

A young boy obsessed with Janken (Rock-Paper-Scissors), he's the first Stand user Yoshihiro creates to try and stop the Stand users tracking down Yoshikage.

His Stand, Boy II Man, is named after the R&B group Boyz II Men. It is capable of stealing the energy of those who lose to Ken in a game of Janken.

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: His Janken battle in this story is against Jolyne rather than Rohan.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Against Rohan he managed to win two rounds out of five. Against Jolyne he loses three rounds in a row without getting a single win.
  • Genre Blindness: During his first Janken round against Jolyne, he spots her using her threads to read his muscle movement and counter his choice, then claims everyone in the station should have been able to see them. At this point he doesn't know anything about Stands, let alone that he's just become a Stand user, so he has no idea that the only other people who could see Jolyne's threads are Fluttershy and Rohan.
  • Graceful Loser: Once he loses against Jolyne, and sees that her Stand has gained a physical form in the process, he realizes that he likely never stood a chance against the older Stand users.
  • Jobber: Unlike canon, where he was a surprisingly legitimate threat, here he's used to show Jolyne's potential for growth leading into her own adventure during Stone Ocean.
  • Loophole Abuse: Discussed when Jolyne asks Ken what would happen if his Stand were up against someone who wasn't a Stand user. Ken isn't really sure, but guesses his Stand simply wouldn't trigger.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Once he starts a best-of-five Janken game with someone, he has to finish it and can't move on to another target until a winner has been decided. This irritates Yoshihiro and forces him to look elsewhere for viable allies.

    Tama

Tama

Stand: Stray Cat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stray_cat_anime.png

A cat that was struck by Yoshihiro using the Stand arrow. It's accidentally killed by Ayaka and is reborn as a plant creature that Yoshikage takes in.

Its Stand, Stray Cat, is named after the rockabilly band Stray Cats, and gives Tama power over air, which it primarily uses in the form of bubbles of compressed air.

  • Amplified Animal Aptitude: It quickly adapts to its new powers, and its thoughts show it has enough comprehension to realize several humans have the same power.
  • Foil: To Morgana from Phantom Thieves Origins. Tama merely has Amplified Animal Aptitude while Morgana is a full-on Uplifted Animal. Both possess air-based Stands, but Stray Cat controls vacuum pressure with its bubbles while Anything Goes focuses more on general wind control. Tama winds up dying and reincarnating as a Planimal whilst Morgana eventually learns to use his Stand to shapeshift into a human. Finally, Tama becomes subservient to an evil Serial Killer, while Morgana becomes the partner to a noble Phantom Thief.
  • Grotesque Cute: Strangely adorable for a bizarre amalgamation of a cat and a flower. It becomes more conventionally cute once fully grown and adopted by Okuyasu.
  • Heel–Face Turn: It gets adopted by Okuyasu after Yoshikage's defeat, and becomes much gentler as a result.
  • Logical Weakness: It may have enough skill to nearly kill Yoshikage, but at the end of the day, plant-animal hybrid aside, it's still a cat. Yoshikage is able to distract it from attacking him and trying to kill Ayaka by tossing a golf ball in its general direction.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: It named its Stand Stray Cat in its thoughts, but later Yoshikage also names the Stand Stray Cat. This in spite of the fact that Tama lacks the ability to verbally communicate with humans and Yoshikage certainly doesn't have any mind reading abilities.
  • Wild Card: Like any wild animal, Tama will only attack anything that threatens it. At least until Yoshikage is able to tame it and train it to act as an Equippable Ally.

    Toyohiro Kanedaichi

Toyohiro Kanedaichi

Stand: Super Fly

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toyohiro_kanedaichi_anime.png

A hermit living off the grid at a decommissioned transmission tower. He's recruited by Yoshihiro to trap one of the Morioh crew with his Stand in exchange for taking care of him elsewhere.

His Stand, Super Fly, is named after an album by Curtis Mayfield. Bound to the tower that Toyohiro calls home, it traps whoever is alone within it, and can reflect any damage that is inflicted upon it.

  • Anti-Villain: He never actually wanted to trap any of the crew, but Yoshihiro was very convincing. Despite his desire to escape at first, he ultimately feels more comfortable at the tower since he's actually scared of civilization.
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: All that time confined by his own Stand has gotten him incredibly strong, and he's incredibly athletic thanks to knowing enough about his Stand to traverse the entire tower without issue.
  • Fights Like a Normal: He kinda has to since he doesn't control his Stand so much as manipulate it, meaning he's otherwise a normal human being.
  • Loophole Abuse: Super Fly will reflect any damage done directly to it, but the cables extending from it don't count since they're not actually part of the tower, so Shigechi is able to prevent Toyohiro from escaping after he traps Josuke by having Harvest severe the cables.
  • Non-Residential Residence: He's set himself up quite nicely, being self-sufficient and not wasting anything. He grows herbs and vegetables using his own excrement as fertilizer (flushed from his toilet using rainwater). The herbs lure in rabbits that he catches using snares, and he regularly fishes using a combination fishing rod and frying pan. He's even got a TV and recliner to maintain contact with the outside world.
  • Treasure Chest Cavity: His hands are heavily callused from all his time climbing through the transmission tower, thick enough to hide several useful tools.
  • Underestimating Badassery: He didn't realize just how multifaceted Crazy Diamond's repair ability can be, or that what it repairs doesn't necessarily have to be physical.

    Terunosuke Miyamoto

Terunose Miyamoto

Stand: Enigma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/terunosuke_miyamoto_anime.png

A reclusive man obsessed with fear, recruited by Yoshihiro to capture the Morioh crew.

His Stand, Enigma, is named after the German electronic project Enigma. In keeping with Terunosuke's obsession with fear, Enigma is capable of transforming people into pieces of paper once they display their Nervous Tic (i.e. biting nails, leg bouncing, etc.).

  • And I Must Scream: He's ultimately sealed inside a book by Josuke. Since he wasn't focused on the book's contents, the words inside are complete nonsense, although people who read it are convinced there's some unbreakable code hidden inside them. And when Terunosuke groans, people think it's the ghost of the founder of the library the book was donated to.
  • Dirty Coward: For all his talk about wanting to observe fear, he may be the biggest scaredy cat in all of Morioh. He takes hostages, never confronts the heroes directly, and when he's finally cornered, he's bawling like a little baby.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He apparently hates blackberries, and especially blackberry pie.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He can't accept the idea that someone (i.e. Pinkie) could face their fears enough that they don't leave any sort of tell that they are afraid.
  • Foil: A direct antithesis to Pinkie, dealing in fear while Pinkie deals in laughter.
  • Hammerspace: Enigma can seal objects in paper. They're frozen at the exact instant they got sealed, so a hot bowl of ramen would remain hot once Terunosuke opened the sealed paper, no matter how much time passed.
  • The Hermit: He's so reclusive, not even Pinkie's heard of him before Yoshihiro sends him to attack the Morioh crew. Even Yoshikage was known to her, so that should let you know how hidden away Terunosuke was.
  • Logical Weakness: Enigma can weaponize Nervous Tics to trap someone in paper, unless Terunosuke is unable to recognize the tic. When he sees Pinkie's color draining (her Stand's way of showing she's actually afraid) he refuses to believe that's her tic and thinks she's just covering for the real one, leaving her immune to Enigma's power.
  • Psycho for Hire: He's the only recruit of Yoshihiro's that has no qualms about attacking the heroes, since he enjoys observing the fears of others. By whatever means necessary...

    Masazo Kinoto

Masazo Kinoto

Stand: Cheap Trick

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masazo_kinoto_anime.png

A realtor who was hired to look over Rohan's mansion for repairs following his initial battle with Josuke. Little do either of them know, Masazo is just a carrier for a greater threat from Yoshihiro...

His Stand, Cheap Trick, is named after the band Cheap Trick. Anyone who looks at the user's back will see themselves becoming Cheap Trick's new user, while its previous user ends up getting killed in the process.

  • Adaptational Wimp: Thanks to Pinkie, Rohan doesn't have to go to extreme lengths to hide his back until he can get to the Ghost Alley to remove Cheap Trick. Pinkie just covers him and Cheap Trick with a large blanket, empowered by her toon world to muffle sounds.
  • Anti-Villain: The worst Masazo was going to try was conning Rohan out of a few extra yen (which Rohan easily caught using Heaven's Door). Cheap Trick is the real villain, being an independent Stand that kills its host when someone looks at their back, transferring to the new person in the process.
  • Blessed with Suck: Assuming Cheap Trick really was Masazo's Stand, and he wasn't just a carrier for it, he got shafted by the Superpower Lottery by having a power that literally kills him when someone looks at his back.
  • Call-Back: Back during Stardust Crusaders, it was revealed that Holly was manifesting a Stand she wasn't ready for due to DIO's influence, and it was killing her as a result. Avdol also mentions that he's seen cases of weak Stand users being overwhelmed and killed by their own Stands. Here we get to see how that can happen. Masazo is too weak-willed to properly control Cheap Trick, and it winds up costing him his life when its effect triggers on Rohan.
  • Logical Weakness: Since Cheap Trick is designed to whisper in its host's ear that they'll die if someone sees their back in order to instill paranoia, Pinkie solves the problem by giving Rohan a pair of industrial ear mufflers.
  • Revealing Cover Up: Yoshihiro recruited Cheap Trick to convince Rohan to burn the photos he had taken while at the train station. This not only clues Rohan and Pinkie in that Cheap Trick is working for Yoshihiro, but that there's something in the photos that could inconvenience Yoshikage.

Supporting Characters

    Tomoko Higashikata

Tomoko Higashikata

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomoko_higashikata_anime.png

Josuke's young, single mother.

  • Awesome by Analysis: She's a very observant woman, not only spotting Angelo's trick with the milk bottle, but years later she's picked up on the fact that her son and daughter-in-law have special powers.
  • Crossover Relatives: In canon, her only family consisted of Ryohei, her father, Joseph, her lover before their affair ended, and Josuke, her illegitimate son. Here, she has a sister, Yui Ikari, making her the sister-in-law of Yui's husband, Gendo, and the aunt of Yui's son, Shinji. This is downplayed in the case of Joshu Higashikata, who is also her nephew here but came from a different part of the same series canonically.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Joseph makes it a point to never be in the same area as Tomoko, and makes sure to keep her far away from Suzi Q. Suzi may have forgiven him for his infidelity, but he's not taking chances. Stars Are Eternal reveals Josuke and his friends haven't said anything, either — Josuke knew how much Tomoko pined for Joseph, and didn't want to break her heart by telling her of Joseph's marriage to Suzi Q.
  • Shipper on Deck: She'd been waiting for Josuke and Pinkie to make their status as boyfriend and girlfriend official, and is delighted when it finally happens.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: The reason why she remained single for so long after Joseph broke things off with her — all of the eligible bachelors in Morioh were douchebags. Ironically, Joseph himself isn't much better considering that by being with her, he ended up cheating on his wife, Suzi Q.

    Ryohei Higashikata

Ryohei Higashikata

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/higashikata_ryohei.png

Tomoko's father and Josuke's maternal grandfather.

  • Badass Normal: He might not be a Stand user or any other sort of supernatural being, but the fact that he could corral a serial killer as dangerous as Angelo (prior to his becoming a Stand user) shows just how skilled of a cop he is.
  • My Greatest Failure: For all his success, he never accepted any promotion since he felt he didn't deserve it, due to never having caught Reimi Sugimoto's killer.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He's known to be an exceptional police officer who was even considered for promotion at one point. He was also the one responsible for Angelo's first arrest. Sadly he's a normal man in a world of supernatural powers. He's fortunate to have been able to live to see old age.
  • The Stations of the Canon: Since Ryohei's death in canon is what spurred Josuke to justice, his death is kept here when other people wound up Spared by the Adaptation.

    Tamami Kobayashi

Tamami Kobayashi

Stand: The Lock

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tamami_kobayashi_anime.png

A former con man who would shake down people for money using his Stand. He later reforms under the watchful eye of the Speedwagon Foundation.

His Stand, The Lock, is named after the song "The Rock" by The Who. It functions off of guilt, becoming heavier and heavier the more guilt a person feels. It can also function as a lie detector, capable of sensing dishonesty within people's hearts.

  • Heel–Face Turn: He starts off as a criminal con man targeting Koichi. But after Kakyoin steps in and helps Koichi improve himself, Tamami is quickly convinced to turn over a new leaf.
  • Living Lie Detector: In addition to his Stand's normal ability of making people feel guilty enough to tell the truth, he can hold his Stand personally to feel out whether or not they're lying.
  • Logical Weakness: He can't use his Stand if someone feels no guilt for their actions, as Kakyoin demonstrates. When chasing after Yoshikage, Tamami notes he has to use his Stand indirectly on those in Yoshikage's workplace, since a serial killer who's been operating for years obviously feels no guilt for the lives he's claimed.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: His Stand is really only good against fresh Stand users at best, since just because someone can see his Stand doesn't mean they can so easily shake off their guilt. But more experienced Stand users are harder to catch off-guard, since all Stand users give off an aura of energy that identifies them to each other.

    Toshikazu Hazamada

Toshikazu Hazamada

Stand: Surface

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toshikazu_hazamada_anime.png

A former bully and senior student at Grape Hill High School. He tried to force Jotaro and his family to leave Morioh, only to get severely humiliated.

His Stand, Surface, is named after the band Surface. Befitting its appearance of a wooden mannequin, Surface is capable of copying the voice, appearance, and mannerisms of another person, as well as control the person it's copying so that whatever Surface does, so too does its copy target.

  • Didn't See That Coming: Multiple times. As smart as he'd like to think he is, Josuke and his crew prove even smarter, making great use of their powers to outwit Hazamada and ultimately render his Stand useless.
  • Eye Scream: Inflicts this on another student he had an argument with, using Surface to force the guy to pluck his own eye out.
  • Hazy-Feel Turn: Unlike Tamami, he doesn't improve his demeanor after his defeat, and the only reason he becomes an ally is because he knows he's low on the power totem pole. Heck, the only reason he bonds with Koichi is due to a shared love of Pink Dark Boy.
  • Logical Weakness: His Stand is useless without an articulate mannequin to anchor it to. When Josuke and Pinkie destroy the only one he had, Hazamada is rendered powerless.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: He believes that those that don't share his worldview should either leave or give in to greater powers... Except he earlier admitted that Josuke and Jotaro are stronger than him. Fluttershy also proves his superior when it comes to strength.
  • Psychic Strangle: Winds up on the receiving end due to Fluttershy's Stand-created vines.
  • The Sociopath: He apparently loves to torture animals, has no problem killing or maiming people for the slightest infraction, and once tried to rape a girl only to wuss out at the last minute. When Rohan reads all this with Heaven's Door, he immediately rejects the idea of using Hazamada in his manga.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: He has Surface force Josuke into choking out Pinkie, but only for a few seconds. This is because he thinks choking someone into unconsciousness is quick and easy like in the movies, when in reality it can take as long as a minute. Naturally Pinkie is actually fully conscious and just faking being conked out.

    Antonio Trussardi

Antonio Trussardi

Stand: Pearl Jam

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/antoni_trussardi_anime.png

A humble Italian Chef who's set up shop in Morioh.

His Stand, Pearl Jam, is named after the rock band Pearl Jam. With this Stand, Antonio is able to cure whatever ailments a person has simply by having them ingest his cooking, thanks to Pearl Jam infusing itself into said cooking.

  • Affectionate Nickname: Everyone in Morioh calls him "Tonio" for short.
  • Body Horror: He's well aware that his Stand can inflict this before its healing effect kicks in, and will often warn his customers so they can prepare for it.
  • Defector from Decadence: His family, the Volpes, contained prestigious nobles who only cared about titles and looked down on anything that involved commoners and their crafts. As the oldest son, he was the family heir, yet he ran away from home to pursue his dreams of becoming a chef. While this got him disowned by his parents and he had to move to another country to be taken seriously as a chef, he is the happy owner of a successful restaurant, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
  • Foil: His Stand can be seen as one to Teruteru Hanamura's Stand, Bon Appetit. The foods produced by both Stands are incredibly delicious, but whereas Bon Appetit enhances a food's entertainment value, Pearl Jam enhances a food's health quality. Also, Bon Appetit's foods make people appreciate the care and hard work put by others into making the food, while Pearl Jam's foods heal physical infirmities by making whoever eats them undergo copious amounts of Body Horror before being healed immediately after.
  • I Have No Son!: His elitist parents disowned him for running away to pursue, in Giorno's words, a "commoner's craft" like cooking. This ends up being a huge mistake — with their oldest son and heir erased from the family tree, and all other blood relatives either dead or in jail for various crimes, the Volpes finished themselves off as a noble house.
  • Mythology Gag: His girlfriend from Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe gets an appearance here.
  • Point of Divergence: In canon, Tonio failed to cure Okuyasu's mutated father and turn him back to normal (other than making him shiny) due to not understanding the latter's condition very well. In Stars Are Eternal, Tonio was able to slowly but surely turn Okuyasu's father back to his former human self, though he lacks some of his memories like his time as one of DIO's minions.
  • Supreme Chef: Whether it be Italian, French, Japanese, or any other cuisine, Tonio can easily cook it.
  • White Sheep: As indicated in Purple Haze Feedback, he was the oldest son of an impoverished noble family, the Volpes, but was disowned after he ran off to pursue his dreams of becoming a chef. However, Stand-induced Body Horror aside, he genuinely wants to cook and serve healthy, delicious food to his customers. Compare that to the other Volpes, who were either criminals (such as Massimo and Giuliani) or elitist assholes who looked down on "commoner's craft[s]" like cooking.

    Reimi Sugimoto

Reimi Sugimoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reimi_sugimoto_anime.png

A ghost living near Morioh's Ghost Alley. She was the first of Yoshikage Kira's victims.

  • Body Horror: When she shows her Jacob Marley Apparel to the gang, they note that her back muscles look like hamburger meat.
  • Friendly Ghost: She's a Cute Ghost Girl who helps the heroes out, shrugs off Pinkie's shenanigans (and even laughs at a few of them) and wants to protect the happy memories of her hometown from Yoshikage's evil. She also shows concern when she finds out Rohan and Pinkie ran through the Ghost Alley a second time (to get rid of Cheap Trick), and is relieved that nothing happened to either of them.
  • Identical Stranger: Subverted. When Rohan, Yukako, and Koichi first see her, they note that she looks similar to Pinkie. But there are clear differences, which makes it easy to tell the two apart.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: When Yoshikage is dragged off by the spirits of the Ghost Alley, she notes that where he's going won't be anywhere peaceful. She had no idea that Yoshikage would wind up reincarnating as his own son, who winds up having less than a peaceful life as one of the New Morioh Warriors.
  • See the Invisible: As a ghost, Reimi can view the world on a different wavelength, allowing her to see Stands.
  • Ship Tease: She admits Rohan has grown up into her type of man shortly before she and Arnold leave for Heaven, saying it might be possible for her to return as an angel.
  • Spirit Advisor: Acts as this for the heroic Stand users in Morioh while they hunt down Yoshikage.

    Shigekiyo "Shigechi" Yangu

Shigekiyo "Shigechi" Yangyu

Stand: Harvest

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shigekiyo_yanguu_anime.png

A middle-school boy with a bit of a greedy streak.

His Stand, Harvest, is named after an album by Neil Young. When it comes to strength in numbers, this Stand takes the cake as it is comprised of over 500 units that Shigechi can command in any way, such as "harvesting" any particular item, such as coins.

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: He's actually friendly with Pinkie, Josuke, and Okuyasu at first. But when he starts seeing yen signs at how much money he can truly obtain working with other Stand users, it all goes to his head.
  • Adaptational Expansion: Since he lives past his encounter with Yoshikage, he's able to take part in the fight against Toyohiro, even preventing him from getting far from Super Fly by severing the cables attached to the transmission tower.
  • Lost Food Grievance: Defied. When he finds out he had accidentally taken Yoshikage's sandwich bag (which had the remains of his latest victim inside), he no longer cares that he lost his sandwich, thinking the clue they found is more important. He even says that for all he knows, some random dog ate his sandwich (which, coincidentally, is exactly what happened).
  • Non-Standard Character Design: The knobs on his head are so unusual that Josuke and Okuyasu briefly think Pinkie Pie gave him a few dozen cases of Cranial Eruption.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Thanks to Pinkie Pie, he is able to survive his confrontation with Kira.
  • Surveillance as the Plot Demands: Even years later, Harvest is used to keep tabs on all the goings on in Morioh.
  • Underestimating Badassery: On both ends of this. Josuke and his friends underestimate what Harvest is truly capable of, but at the same time, Shigechi underestimates just how much more experienced the main trio is with their Stands.

    Aya Tsuji

Aya Tsuji

Stand: Cinderella

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aya_tsuji_anime.png

The owner of a beauty parlor specializing in helping women "capture" love.

Her Stand, Cinderella, is named after the glam rock band Cinderella. As the Stand of an aesthetician, Cinderella can replace select parts of the body of Aya's current client.

  • Beauty Is Best: Inverted for her. In her own words, she considers it "better to be a cheerful pig than a depressed beauty", and focuses her makeup (and Stand) on highlighting features other than physical beauty.
  • Cartoon Bomb: When Pinkie uses her Stand to purge Aya of Killer Queen's bomb, this pops out of her mouth. It's meant to be a cartoon interpretation of Killer Queen's power.
  • Fight Unscene: More like "conflict unscene" but much of the Cinderella arc is told from Pinkie's perspective since from Yukako's perspective, it's largely unchanged.
  • Loophole Abuse: Normally, the fact that Aya survived would mean that Yoshikage's disguise as Takashi Yamashita would revert after thirty minutes. However, Pinkie saving Aya's life had the unfortunate side effect of destroying Takashi's body, meaning his face has nothing to return to and sticks to Yoshikage's body.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Pinkie is able to purge her of Killer Queen's influence, saving her life.
  • Tempting Fate: When Pinkie warns Aya of Yoshikage's presence, Aya isn't expecting him to just pop in and try to kill her. Subverted in that she does say she'll keep an eye out regardless.

    Shinobu Kawajiri

Shinobu Kawajiri

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shinobu_kawajiri_anime.png

Kosaku's wife and Hayato's mother.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Once she sees Kosaku acting like a smooth operator, she instantly starts to fall in love with him for real.
  • Big Damn Kiss: The first sign Kosaku has that Shinobu is now in love with him is that she gives him a passionate kiss shortly after he tricks their landlord by paying off their mortgage with the landlord's own money.
  • Demoted to Extra: Downplayed, but many of the things that happened to her in canon (due to Kosaku being unknowingly replaced by Yoshikage) instead happens to Original Character Ayaka Yamashita.
  • Happily Married: At first she had an Awful Wedded Life with Kosaku (she was only dating him to impress her friends and only married him because she got pregnant with his kid). But once Kosaku turns his life around thanks to Kakyoin's help, she finds the married life of her dreams.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Even more than Tomoko. Tomoko at least is observant enough to know her son and daughter-in-law have special powers. Shinobu doesn't even seem to realize her husband and son are Stand users.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Granted she's not really single but still, this is the other reason she starts to actually fall in love with her husband. Kosaku actually starts to be more attentive of her and their son Hayato, which helps Shinobu's psyche since she Desperately Craves Affection.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Kosaku being able to relax more in his life helps Shinobu's mental health immensely, to the point where the Kawajiri home is now more of a family.

    Nu Mikitakazo Nshi

Nu Mikitakazo Nshi

Stand: Earth Wind and Fire

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mikitaka_hazekura_anime.png

An alien from the Magellanic Cloud seeking to help his people, the Zeiger, settle on a new planet after theirs was destroyed by a natural disaster. While on Earth he goes under the pseudonym Mikitaka Hazekura.

His Stand, Earth Wind and Fire, is named after the R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire. It grants him the ability to morph into any object, with him also taking on the properties of said object (i.e. being able to observe things from afar as a pair of binoculars).

  • Adaptational Origin Connection: In canon, the woman he's living with claims to be his mother, and it's ambiguous if that's really the case. Here it is confirmed that they have no blood relation, and that she's privately Nu's wife, only acting as his mother for the sake of secrecy.
  • Adaptational Species Change: In canon, it was ambiguous if he really was an alien or not. Here it's confirmed that he is indeed an extraterrestrial.
  • Aliens Speaking English: Justified in that he'd been on Earth for a while by the time Josuke, Okuyasu, and Pinkie meet him, meaning he'd had time to learn how to speak most if not all of Earth's native languages.
  • Colorblind Confusion: He has an odd condition in that he's colorblind to souls, and thus cannot see Stands despite being a Stand user himself. Instead he needs special contacts developed by his race (all of whom are Stand users).
  • I Thought Everyone Could Do That: Inverted. He's caught off-guard by the fact that every Stand user on Earth has a named Stand, and chalks it up to how rare it is compared to his own race. By contrast, only those of his race that hold a special position of authority can register a name for their Stand, of which he has such a position as a starship pilot.
  • Spanner in the Works: He points out to Gendo that his plan to send Shinji off to prevent himself from becoming a horrible father would, in fact, make him a horrible father. This completely derails SEELE's schemes regarding the Ikaris.
  • Super-Senses: His pointed ears aren't just for show. They're actually capable of hearing at a greater range than a human.

    Yuya Fungami

Yuya Fungami

Stand: Highway Star

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yuya_fungami_anime.png

A former biker gang member who was hospitalized due to an accident at a local highway tunnel. Yoshihiro gave him a Stand that could help him recover, but it's ultimately Josuke who puts him back on his feet.

His Stand, Highway Star, is named after a song by Deep Purple. Highway Star possesses an enhanced sense of smell (much like its user), and can separate itself into footprint shaped segments, as well as absorb the life energy of anyone it touches.

  • Balanced Harem: He has three girlfriends that he loves equally, and they in turn have no problem sharing him.
  • Berserk Button: Anyone bringing harm to his three girlfriends, even if it's just a simple Dope Slap.
  • Commonality Connection: During the fight with Terunosuke, Yuya realizes his attitude isn't any different than the Morioh crew, as he's also willing to fight for those he loves.
  • Fight Unscene: While Pinkie is getting information on Yuya from Koichi, Josuke was busy doing the crazy tricks from canon just off-screen (Pinkie wasn't paying attention because her Stand's toon world was active).
  • Graceful Loser: At the climax at the Enigma fight, he willingly lets himself get affected by Enigma's power to free Josuke and Koichi, knowing they and Pinkie will finish the job of dealing with Terunosuke.
  • The Nose Knows: He has a strong sense of smell, which is passed on to his Stand.
  • Oh, Crap!: When Josuke and Pinkie finally find him, he quips that it would be unfair to beat up a crippled person. So Josuke heals him right up. At first Yuya is elated... Until he realizes that Josuke just made it fair for him and Pinkie to beat the snot out of him.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: He didn't know Pinkie's nickname, yet guessed it anyway just because of her hair color.
  • Super-Empowering: His Stand was already fast, being able to run at 60 km/h. But when tuned into Pinkie's toon world, it can go even faster.

    Riku Yamashita

Riku Yamashita

The son of Takashi and Ayaka Yamashita. He learns from his school friend Hayato that Yoshikage has killed his father and disguised himself as him.

  • Death of a Child: His bragging to Yoshikage about how close the heroes are to him sets the killer off, causing him to kill Riku in a fit of rage. He's brought Back from the Dead thanks to Bites the Dust.
  • Decomposite Character: He takes on the situation and Action Survivor status from Hayato while Hayato himself retains his talent for covert espionage.
  • Equippable Ally: A variation. He doesn't actually equip Hayato, but rather his Stand, since Party in the CIA's physical form is a Magical Camera that can be seen and held by regular people.
  • Original Character: He was created to act in a role similar to Canon!Hayato.
  • You Killed My Father: He's motivated to help stop Yoshikage for this reason.
