3rd Generation

    In General
  • The Friends Who Never Hang: Similarly to some of the early JP gens, collabs between this trio (either solo or as a group) are comparatively rare, with most of them hanging out with other Holo members, either within ID or other branches. This is especially prevalent with Kobo, who interacts widely across Hololive and Holostars, but rarely collabs with Zeta and/or Kaela unless it's an obligatory event for their gen.
  • The Gadfly: All three of them are known to be trolls, but in varying ways. Zeta likes to tease and ridicule others in direct conversation, Kaela goes a more subtle way by flexing in games to make others jealous, while Kobo acts like a whiny Bratty Half-Pint to annoy the other parties.
  • Lighter and Softer: Compared to HoloX and Council, with their noticeably Darker and Edgier lore, ID3 are much more lighthearted in comparison despite having reasonably elaborate lore themselves. However, unlike the prior two, there is no shared group dynamic included in their lore. They are, however, referred to as holoh3roes, attributing to their "everyday hero" theme.
  • Token Human: This is the first ever generation of hololive talents to consist entirely of human characters, instead focusing on jobs rather than species.
  • Vague Age: Everyone's age on their profile doesn't list their age, instead skirting around the topic altogether. Zeta is marked with <CONFIDENTIAL>, Kaela is listed (and crossed out) as "Too busy collecting hammers" and Kobo's website lists her age as "I'm legal", with her repeating the phrase insistently.

    Vestia Zeta

Vestia Zeta [JP: ベスティア・ゼータ]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/vestia_zeta_full.png
"A- A- A- Mission Start!"
Debut date: March 25th, 2022
Birthday: November 7th
Height: 155 cm
Fanbase name: Zecretary
Illustrator: Arutera
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

Alias: Agent V.7
Age: < CONFIDENTIAL >
Occupation (bar idol): "Secret" Agent

  • Animal Motifs: Cats. Many have compared her to a cat due to her hair style giving the appearance of two cat-like ears. She also quite fond of cats herself, doing a whole cat review stream. Her fanbase representation "Zecretary" is also very much a proper cat. She however adamantly denies being a cat, insisting that she's a human, but this hasn't deterred her chat and even her fellow talents from trying to convince her otherwise. She eventually gave up trying to dissociate herself from the cat nicknames and declared herself a "Catlord", as in a ruler of cats instead of a cat herself.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Being called Sus. In her debut, she tells her audience she knows more about them by gathering their info. Naturally, the reactions tends to go "Kinda sus", and she takes offense to it.
    • Calling her a cat. Her genmates and even her senpais has occasionally call her a cat to the point that she'll declare her first collab with them as their only or last one. It does not deter them from teasing her, as Reine has shown. Even when it's coming from someone as nice as Fauna, she still doesn't like it.
Zeta: [in response to Fauna saying she has two pet cats] That's so cute, I wish I had cats! I love cats!
Fauna: Now I have three cats, now that you're here.
      Zeta: [Beat] I'm leaving...
    • Also best simplified here.
  • Birds of a Feather: With Amelia Watson, being a detective to pair with her secret agent. In addition, both are great at handling a gun, whereby they excel at shooter games.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Described as being a bratty kusogaki by others with her love of incessant teasing and riling others up.
  • Chronic Pet Killer: Whenever she owns a horse in Rust, the poor animal will end up dying and she's trying to keep them safe. Half of those times, it's not even her fault they're dying, since someone else will end up accidentally killing them, prompting her to find a replacement.
  • Commonality Connection: She develops one with Miko after a series of disastrous experiences in the JP server in Minecraft, in which they both bond over being pon.
  • Covert Pervert: She has been caught eyeing Kaela's chest and tries to call her "mommy". She's also implied to be more familiar with the content of adult actor Johnny Sins than she lets on, and when confronted about a slip up by Axel, Zeta didn't exactly do a good job denying it.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's noted to be rather clumsy, many times making small mistakes in her streams that causes her audience to react with "PON". Ollie mentions that this is also how she is in person.
  • Devious Daggers: Has shown a fondness for knives and daggers and is often accused by others of being secretly evil and psychotic. She ended up including a rusty dagger as part of her kimono outfit.
  • The Determinator: Despite claiming herself as unable to hold long endurance streams, she has no problem playing Doom Eternal for 7 hours straight or streaming Ring Fit Adventure at level 30 difficulty for nearly 2 hours straight with minimal signs of fatigue, in addition to recovering fast enough to hold a karaoke stream the very next day.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Hates veggies.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: Quite a few of her fellow talents have pointed out that despite Zeta's looks and voice suggesting she's The Cutie, lying beneath this cute disposition is a psychotic nature who takes glee in torment.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Wears a black over-the-knee sock on her left leg and a white calf-high sock on her right. Her dress has a black panel on the right side, and she has a ribbon only on the right side of her "animal ears" (actually just a hairstyle) while she only has an earring on her left ear and a hair clip and hair tube on the left side. Also the holstered gun on her left leg.
  • The Gadfly: Can be quite a mischievous troll when she chooses to, doing many things to rile up her genmates and her senpais like Ollie and Reine during collabs.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Subverted in that she's not above using stronger swear words when angered. This contrasts Reine who just dislikes swearing, Kaela who never swears at all, or Kobo who has a potty-mouth but sticks to Indonesian curse words.
  • Hypocritical Humor. She dislikes being called a cat and usually threatens to quit a collab stream if other members call her so. Yet somehow, she still threatens to quit the collab with Iroha when the latter doesn't introduce herself as a ninja, something that Iroha insists she isn't.
  • In-Series Nickname: Her fanbase often takes to calling her "Chief".
  • Insistent Terminology: She's not a cat. She's a human! Unfortunately, this falls on deaf ears since many people point out her hair buns looks like a pair of cat ears. This gets pointed out a lot not only by her senpais, but also Vtubers outside of hololive. Eventually she decided, since she'd never be gone with the cat comparison, to declare herself instead a "catlord" who rules over cats. There are also times when she accidentally slips up and indirectly admits that she is a cat, like referring to her hair buns as cat ears.
  • Irony: She's a secret agent but she's long since exposed her secretiveness to the world.
  • Jack of All Stats: The most all-rounder out of her gen. She sings fairly well, she's great at drawing, and she's fairly skilled in certain games like shooters.
  • Leg Focus: Normally, her Live 2D model doesn't draw too much attention on her legs aside from the Fashionable Asymmetry. However, during her 3D debut stream, the camera focuses a lot on her shapely thighs, much to the pleasure of other members.
    Bijou: I like your thighs!
IRyS: You have the best thighs ever!
  • "Metaphor" Is My Middle Name: During an Apex collab with Ollie and RPR, Zeta claims her middle name is "seiso", which the others remain unconvinced by.
  • Medium-Shift Gag: Her second casual outfit reveal stream had her setting it up like a video game Character Customization interface, with the possible outfit choices being predictions drawn by her fans.
  • Numerological Motif: 7. She's the 7th agent of SAU with a codename "V.7", and her birthday is on the 7th day of November. Her tablet is decorated by number 7 written in Javanese script, while her hair tube has "VII" written on it. Her name is also derived from the Greek letter zeta, which has the numerical value of 7. She's also the seventh member of the Indonesia branch in order of debuts.
  • Odd Name Out: In an inverse of Anya, Zeta is the only one of her gen to use Japanese naming convention with her surname listed before her given name.
  • Overt Operative: Her own teaser redacts out SECRET AGENT when introducing her.
  • Polyglot: She speaks a total of four languages: Indonesian, English, Japanese, and Korean. Weirdly, she seems to think her English is bad, despite sounding dang near native. When she told Mumei of the EN branch that her English was bad, Mumei was flabbergasted and quickly assured her nothing was further from the truth.
  • Precision F-Strike: She said "Fuck you honestly" and asked "Is this why you got no bitches?" to Axel, both in a single Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes collab stream. She also called Altare a "little shit" for calling her a "mijikai"/"shorty".
  • Replacement Goldfish: Her horse Umami in Rust is actually Umami IV, with many of its predecessors being rather short-lived before being replaced by a new one that Zeta treats as if it's the original.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: With Axel Syrios. Both insist they are humans but are constantly compared with a dog and a cat, which has led the two of them to develop a cat-and-dog dynamic feud. Virtually all of their interactions be that onstream or on twitter, has the two sniping and taking jabs at each other, roasting each other's actions, or further piling on the cat and dog insults.
  • Shout-Out: Her occupation as a secret agent and association with the number seven is a nod to the titular James Bond.
  • Stick Figure Animation: Is very fond of making use of stick figures in her streams, often attaching her head onto a stick figure body.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: She claims to have a screenshot of Ina's back on her phone for "academic purposes", rather than anything questionable.
Zeta: I swear I'd saved it on my phone yesterday for-
    Ina: Hmm?
    Zeta: F-f-f-for reference!
    Ina: For "reference", uh huh.
  • Take Over the World: Listed "world domination" as one of her goals.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Has one of the highest pitched voices in ID, taking many by surprise given her appearance and profile, although at one point she let out a deep "Hi Honey" without warning, sending chat to a frenzy.

    Kaela Kovalskia

Kaela Kovalskia [JP: カエラ・コヴァルスキア]

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaela_kovalskia_full.png
"Hi everyone, I'm Kaela Kovalskia, the coolest blacksmith from Hololive ID 3rd generation."
Debut date: March 26th, 2022
Birthday: August 30th
Height: 173 cm
Fanbase name: Pemaloe
Illustrator: Yasuda Suzuhito
Channel: Youtube
Social Media: Twitter

Age: Unknown/"Too busy collecting hammers"
Occupation (bar idol): Blacksmith

Associated characters: Ckia (Child/Younger Counterpart), Skia (Twin Sister)

  • The Ace: She spends an unholy amount of time playing games she enjoys, to the point that several members will refer to her for help. This actually hasn't gone unnoticed by other girls like Ollie who frequently gets jealous whenever they played Minecraft in 2023. Hell, because of how good she plays games, other EN, ID, and some occasional JP members will go to her for help in a collaboration.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Her fellow ID talents and fans refer to her as just Ela for short.
  • Alliterative Name: Kaela Kovalskia
  • Always Identical Twins: Says Skia is her older twin sister, and Kaela was born two minutes after her. Meaning Skia's birthday is the 29th of August.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: While she gets along with her father just fine, her mother is a different topic. Apparently she uses memed phrases such as "Sus" and "lemao" without any context and doesn't know their meanings.
  • Angrish: On the rare occasion that she does get genuinely frustrated (such as struggling with Crash Bandicoot), she devolves into a combination of angry muttering and strange slurping noises.
  • Animal Motifs:
    • Penguins, but this is intentionally subverted by her. This is due to her color scheme being evocative of said bird and her surname reminding people of a similarly named character from Madagascar. She does take issues when someone calls her a penguin, and even sounded exhausted having to explain that she isn't one, which led to her using her kimono outfit for several months until her new outfit reveal in mid-2023. However, the Pemaloe are instead portrayed as the penguins rather than herself.
    • Like Kanata, gorillas. She would make vocal grunts similar to them. Unlike penguins above, she embraces the "Goriela" nickname that she "canonized" Goriela as a separate entity to her. In fact her character choice is Donkey Kong in Mario Kart 8, and her 2023 New Year kimono also has an optional gorilla mask accessory.
  • Animal Nemesis: Sharks. Any time she encounters them in video games, she dubs them as "Bruce", and goes out of her way to fight one to the death. This doesn't extend to Gura though, who she gets along with really well.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Whenever she plays games the first time touching it, she quickly adapts how the game works.
  • Ax-Crazy: She is very subtle about it. When she played Among Us with her members in a public stream, her eyes spread out, and lowers her pitch. And then there was that time in her collab with Anya playing Lethal Company where she escaped fighting a giant bug while Anya fought with it solo. When she returns, Anya calls her a coward for leaving, only to smack her with a shovel and kills her in one hit. Cue silent laugh over what she's done.
  • Berserk Button: A genuine one that isn't Played for Laughs: Calling her a penguin. As a joke, she'll laugh at it when her genmates and other members do it, but constantly attempting to gaslight her will have her respond passive aggressively.
  • Brutish Character, Brutish Weapon: She uses hammers, but she has really skinny arms.
  • The Blacksmith: Her job description has her working as one.
    • She's this in Minecraft as well, with her house filled with a lot of materials, weapons, armors, and tools, with a good number of them fully enchanted.
  • Bootstrapped Leitmotif: The sad violin theme at the end of her streams was actually caught by her while playing Flying Gorilla. Due to Kaela's In-Universe Narm Charm, she proceeds to use it as her ending stream theme.
  • Cargo Ship: Invoked by Kaela herself when she returned home after the 5th Holofes. The first thing she did was openly flirt with her beloved "PC-chan" and remarked how much she missed her. Naturally, the Pemaloe are telling her to Get Some Help.
  • Challenge Seeker: Part of the reason she wants more content for hololive fan games such as HoloCure and Delivering Hope. She's done so much self-imposed challenges that chat, Kay Yu, and David Wu themselves often joke that she's making them overwork just to satisfy her challenge seeker ways. Even after she finds out she will become a playable character, she wonders if 0.6 will be released in the following month after 0.5 was just released in February 10th.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • "Get Some Help" which is often used to reprimand chat for being flirty, or delusional.
    • "Dahlah", when she's had enough with all the shenanigans around her.
    • "No Pressure", usually when asking game devs for more updates.
    • After Bae's JP-ID-EN Telephone collab, Kaela turned "JDON My Soul" into her greeting.
  • Cherry Tapping: She manages to defeat a Warden with a raw cod after many failed attempts to kill it normally in Minecraft.
  • Cool Uncle: Has an uncle named Om Ela. Who is a vendor that sells madura skewers (Indonesian grilled chicken).
  • Crutch Character: Because of her mastery in games, she tends to help out other girls when they are having trouble with a game they're playing. Especially in collabs where the other girls are counting on her to carry them even if she ends up dying. It's noticeable with Nerissa where she was struggling against bosses in Palworld, and Kaela gives her a rocket launcher to defeat said bosses.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Her voice tends to go at the low end and will make deadpan responses to her collaboration partner and her chat.
  • The Determinator:
    • Much like Korone, she has immense stamina in regards to streaming, with her regular length being 4-5 hours and its not unusual for her to stretch it into 8 or 12 hours of continuous streaming. She told Gura that she used to go on for longer and, on one occasion, she played League of Legends for nearly 50 hours straight (with 2 hours of rest).
    • When she's not streaming Minecraft, she'll play it off-stream to the point of grinding enough Elytras in her showroom. Mind you, Elytras are a notorious rare item that can only be found in End Cities. This causes multiple girls to react in awe when she shows them her showroom with Elytra, and Miko is envious even though Kaela is willing to give them away for free.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Sweet stuff (specifically sweetness from sugar as she's fine with fruits), as well as dairy products and bean sprouts.
  • Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: Kaela seems to permanently have this expression, and unlike Shion it isn't to make her look smug.
  • Eccentric Millionaire: In Minecraft, she's one of the richest, if not THE richest person in Hololive Minecraft server and won't hesitate to have fun with her wealth, like building a gallery of elytras in her original home in ID server, building impressive structures like her underwater house or netherite beacon, or building a tall seat by stacking diamond blocks so she can get a better view of the horse race during a summer festival.
  • Exact Words: Her response to chat asking her to "tell [them] a short story before sleep".
Kaela: Short story before sleep. There, done.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: She only wears her blacksmithing glove on her left hand.
  • Gag Dub: Because of how quiet her silent laugh is, fan translators would often add in a laugh audio without losing its context. Such as this translated clip. Ollie even took to dubbing over her laugh with the "Acumalaka" sound effect when they collaborated in Raft, which Kaela found Actually Pretty Funny.
  • Godlike Gamer:
    • She's the gamer prodigy of Hololive. Any time she touches a game, she becomes an Instant Expert in a matter of hours. Her mastery in the games she plays is the reason why Ollie refuses to teach her how to play Apex Legends, since she was already Silver 5 in Overwatch 2. Then it reaches Ollie's absolute jealousy when Kaela hatched a Shiny Fuecoco after hatching nearly two boxes full of Fuecoco eggs in Pokémon Scarlet.
    • She is such a gamer that whenever she completes a hololive Indie game (such as HoloCure, Delivering Hope, and HoloDive) that the games' respective creators, Kay Yu and David Wu, will find themselves being chased by Kaela for a new update for said games.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Unlike Zeta and Kobo, she hardly swears. This is noticeable as she has brought up the topic about swearing in general, and the only ever time she does is when the lyrics of a song calls for it rather than censoring it.
  • Graceful Loser: She takes her losses in competitive games in stride, even in such games she enjoys playing.
  • Gamer Chick: Dear God, yes. Kaela's gaming pedigree in League of Legends and Minecraft is prodigious, and she spends much of the time she spends gaming on stream.
  • Harem Seeker: In a very different way to Ollie. While Ollie actively simped over other girls and tried to trick them into marriage, Kaela keeps finding other girls having affection or admiration towards her (usually due to her gamer skills or her generosity), where she'll accept their love.
  • Hating on Monday: A common topic of Kaela's Pejuang Senintranslation free chat streams is her trying to convince those watching they should not dislike Mondays.
  • Helium Speech: Her child version Ckia speaks like this, in stark contrast to Kaela's typical deep voice.
  • Implausible Deniability: She once did a Self-Imposed Challenge that if she won two games of Overwatch 2, she will end her stream. She then wonders if she will get a bronze rank only to show that her rank was Silver 5. Cue silence and ending her stream.invoked
  • Insistent Terminology:
  • It's Personal: Upon finding out Koseki listed pickaxes as her dislikes, Kaela takes it very personally.
  • Leg Focus: Her kimono outfit has a short skirt that shows off her long slender legs.
  • Like Father, Like Son: She apparently got her silent laugh from her mother.
  • LOL, 69: Kaela considers 69 to be her luckiest number, claiming it has nothing to do with the sex act. In fact, she only learned about that association later into her streaming career, to her horror. She was originally inspired by Moona's own obsession with said number, and after launching her channel's membership on June 9, it became her Arc Number of sorts.
  • Lonely at the Top: Her insane gaming skills sometimes end up getting her banned from some activities simply because no one can conceivably beat her, much to her dismay.
  • Machine Monotone: Her voice has been compared to sounding like Google translate.
  • Mascot: Has one in the form of Galon-kun, a sentient gallon jug of water. When angered, the liquid inside Galon also Turns Red.
  • Meaningful Name: Kovalskia is derived from the Polish surname "Kowalski", which in turn is derived from the Polish term for blacksmith, "Kowal".
  • My Eyes Are Up Here: She notices whenever Zeta would look at her chest, and asks her where is she looking at.
  • Narm Charm: In-Universe in regards to her one hour stream of Flying Gorilla. When ever she dies or having a difficult time with certain obstacles, a sad violin plays, and she takes a liking to it that she uses it to end her streams.
  • Nerves of Steel:
    • Kaela's unflappable demeanour means she can perform tasks without flinching. During a Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes collab with Kobo, Kaela singlehandedly defuses a bomb while simultaneously calming down Kobo (who ran into issues streaming the game and downloading the manual); by the time Kobo resumed her stream, Kaela has already finished the round without assistance and is silently laughing.
    • Like Botan from JP Generation 5, she hardly ever flinches playing horror games, and treats them with the same laughing indifference as her (albeit quietly). Such as playing hololive ERROR and Devour. While she'll have some occasional Oh, Crap! moments, she doesn't react in fear or letting adrenaline cloud her judgment. For further context, Zeta and Kobo are absolutely terrified of horror games, with the former rage quitting, and the latter, well, see her example in her folder.
    • Then there's her collab with Ollie in Phasmophobia and, by her chat and her own admission, tries to be scared. Only, Ollie ends up being the one screaming her head off and Kaela barely flinched.
  • The Night Owl: Her sleeping schedule is practically non-existent. Some of her streaming hours will take at least a whooping 8 hours (or if she's really into a game she's playing, 11 hours of streaming and playtime). And this also includes posting on Twitter where she announces that she's going to sleep. Three hours after her finished streams at the time.
  • No Sense of Direction:
    • Her ability to know where she is, is left to be desired. When she tours Ollie inside her cavern, she ended up getting Ollie and herself lost, with the latter giving her a -8/100, but nonetheless cheers for her to find the exit.
    • She somehow got lost in her own home once before. Many fans wonder how does one get lost inside their own home, since she somehow managed to do that in her house.
  • Only Sane Woman: Kaela would often find herself in this position during group streams, where she has to be the voice of reason and straight man dealing with Zeta and Kobo's shenanigans, and further affirms her status as the Team Mom in the fandom's eyes.
  • Rage Breaking Point: She rarely loses her cool, but when she does, she starts yelling at the top of her lungs. There will usually be a deep sigh and brief moment of silence that precede such a meltdown. One particular level in What the Golf pissed her off so badly, she started to vent away from her PC while in Suspiciously Specific Denial.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge: She likes to make these kinds of challenges with the games she plays, and when she ends one of the challenges she's aiming for, she wants more content for the game she won in all of her challenges.invoked
  • Sibling Rivalry: She has one with Skia, who is also an idol. Though her level of rivalry with her seems to be in the form of taunts if anything.
  • Signature Laugh:
    • Has a laugh that's notable in that it's generally inaudible. Kaela's avatar makes it clear when she's doubling over in laughter only for any audio to be barely heard, to which her fans call her "silent laugh". She explains in a talk stream that her laughter is too low for her microphone to pick up, but occasionally a very faint "hehe" or sharp intakes of breath can be heard, along with some desk-slapping. But then it's revealed that she deliberately muted her laughs. When she unmuted herself to give the chat an idea what her laugh sounds like, they describe it as a car engine failing to start, to further contrast Reine's car engine starting-like laugh. But later still, Kaela set the record straight by explaining once and for all that her laughter is just naturally silent and it wouldn't matter what kind of self-suppressed microphone she used--the result would be the same.
    • An audible example occurred during a collab with HoloEN's Tsukumo Sana, revealing a stifled belly laugh that sounds similar to Reine's and seemingly proving once and for all that Kaela's laughter is just generally silent on its own, but rarely audible, depending on her mood.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis:
    • To her senpai, Kureiji Ollie. While starting off as an Unknown Rival where Ollie would get jealous over Kaela’s mastery at games or receiving gifts from certain members, or effortlessly winning affections of other Holo members, especially Sora, leaving Harem Seeker Ollie a Green-Eyed Monster. However eventually Kaela began intentionally riling Ollie up through pinning or retweeting her messages, or bullying her in Minecraft which lead to open war between the two.
    • M-chan, her own manager of all people. Whenever she intends to stream her usual hours (a whooping five hours than a standard 3), M-chan tries to enforce a 3-4 hour stream limit on her. Her response to M-chan trying to enforce this is a blatant "My phone died. I didn't get your message, M-chan". This actually causes M-chan to give up trying to enforce that rule, but will watch the other streams if she collaborates with anyone else. Her chat is quick to pick up on it.
    • She is also one to Koseki Bijou of Advent, as Bijou is a Crystalline Creature, and Kaela, being the blacksmith and Minecraft addict she is, keeps expressing interest in mining her for rare materials. But when Bijou shows her list of dislikes, she clears her list and adds in pickaxes on it. Kaela took it very personally. This later ended up shifting to them being on very friendly terms, to which fans joke Kaela is actually holding Bijou hostage.
  • Smoking Is Cool: Subverted. Many of her fans and fan artists thought the long pipe she shows holding in her silhouette is actually a flute, not a smoking pipe. She even clarifies that she doesn't smoke at all.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Stands at 173cm, which for a while made her the tallest Hololive girl since Coco (180cm) graduated, having overtaken Reine (172cm) by 1cm. Kaela herself got overtaken by Nerissa Ravencroft of HoloEN Advent, who stands at 175 cm.
  • The Stoic: Chill and unflappable, even in the face of the chaos her genmates can unleash or the strangest excesses of her chat. This makes it all the more spectacular whenever something does manage to push her past her Rage Breaking Point or silent laugh.
  • Team Mom: Many began seeing her as a mom, especially in Minecraft, where she often goes out of her way to look out for the smaller girls like Gura and Bae, even adopting the former.
  • Tomboy: Kaela has more tomboyish hobbies outside of video games, and never wears makeup. She doesn't think she's cute or beautiful, and will tell anyone that tries to flirt with her to "get some help". She's also consistent about it and won't change her mind.
  • There Was a Door: Her 3D debut has Kaela smashing her way through her house's brick wall rather than using the double doors right next to the hole she made.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Kaela loves pare, or bitter melon. Trash-talking it is guaranteed to get her to respond, and she made friends with a vendor who was able to supply her with massive amounts of it.
  • Troll:
    • Whenever someone wants her to say a memetic line or cute noises, she decidedly goes for the opposite which often startles her chat. It's becoming a rule to not give her any ideas.
    • She also has a tendency to troll other members of hololive for her own amusement. For starters, when she is playing Palworld with Bijou, she wasn't in the mood to defend their base from a Pal Raid, and lets her solo them. This ended up being a Curb-Stomp Battle against Bijou, with her begging to save her. Then her house caught on fire, causing Kaela to silent laugh at her misery. The best part is that Kaela wasn't lying. She literally could not help Bijou, and the end result is the entire base was destroyed by the wild Pals.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: During her "poll stream", one of the poll questions was whether people prefer waffles or pancakes. The poll ended up starting a war in the chat for one or the other, and she even asked other members of HoloID if they prefer waffles or pancakes. The results.
  • Verbal Tic: When speaking English, she frequently ends her sentences with a "mmm-hmmm" or "Lah".
  • Victory Is Boring:
    • According to her debut stream, this was what spurred her on to joining Hololive in the first place, having achieved great success as a blacksmith that she's got barely anything better to do anymore. She originally came to the branch office building looking for a rumored rare element, but took up YAGOO's job offer instead, seeing it as a worthwhile alternative.
    • This is further exemplified in her Minecraft streams when some fans started suggesting shortcuts and building things to make her grinding faster and easier, she flat out said she didn't want to do any of that because she finds it a lot more satisfying to work long and hard to accomplish her goals then looking for the easy ways.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: While playing Rust, she keeps getting ambushed by NPCs that the only item she had was a jackhammer. To her own surpise, she kills the NPC with sad jackhammer, and had a long pause and she began to laugh over what happened.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Some of her Pejuang Senin streams revolve about telling people for bettering themselves without issues.
  • You Are the New Trend: She started a trend among the members to breed certain Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet in order to have a party of five eggs to hatch a Shiny Pokémon after having a few successes hatching a few.
  • Your Size May Vary: Her blacksmithing mallet changes size seemingly on a dime. While seen on her character model, it is small enough to comfortably fit in the leather loop on her toolbelt, whereas in her animated backstory, it's apparently the size of a regular nail hammer when she's entering the Hololive office building.

  • A-Cup Angst: By her own admission, she was a bit conscious of her size after an off-collab with the rest of the Indonesian branch.
Kobo: I mean, I do have those, but theirs is like... [in English] Dayum! Dayum! Mine... mine haven't changed since high school...
  • Affectionate Nickname: Her fans and genmates call her "Bo" for short. Kiara also bestowed her the nickname "Bokobo", and Hakka refers to her as "Kobito-senpai" ("little Kobo" in Spanish).
  • All Girls Like Ponies: Kobo loves horses, up to and including being a fan of My Little Pony. Her request to YAGOO upon hitting 1 million subs was for a horse. It... hasn't gone well.
  • Alliterative Name: Kobo Kanaeru
  • Ambiguously Human: She is supposedly human, but she has some not quite human characteristics like hair made of water. She later also claims she is a slime like Rimuru Tempest.
  • Ascended Fangirl:
    • She reveals that Kiara is her oshi and was overjoyed when Kiara wished to spoil Kobo like a sugar mommy. She also reveals that she joined Hololive after seeing an ad about AZKi. Downplayed later when she reveals she had no prior experience about vtubers or Hololive before auditioning and only started watching them when she got accepted.
    • Played more straight with Izuru. When they start collabing in Valorant alongside Astel and Gamma, Kobo suddenly stops being childish that Izuru had to ask Astel whether she's like this until Astel had to tell him no.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Due to her small stature and childish personality, Kobo is treated as this in not just Gen 3, but among the entirety of HoloID, and gradually spreading into over language branches too.
  • Berserk Button: Calling her short. When Regis calls her "mijikai", at first she seemed impressed. Until she asked her chat what it really meant, and it sets her off when they explained it. She then says thusly:
Kobo: You dare to call me short!? Listen here, you little shit!
  • Big Brother Worship:
    • Kobo is always on the lookout for her male colleagues to be her big brothers or in some cases dads. She states she desires a brother rather than a husband.
    • In addition, she also displays "mommy worship". Kobo has a habit of calling several senpais she looks up to as mommies or mamas, with the most positive recipient being Kiara.
  • Birds of a Feather: With La+. It's little surprise the two of them could hit it off considering both are pint-sized kusogakis with a love for FPS games, especially Valorant.
  • Book Dumb: Kobo believed that Australia was in Europe, which dumbfounded even Axel.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: She has increasingly garnered a reputation as a kusogaki, with her constant whining and crying to get her way, incessant teasing of other Holopro talents including giving them embarrassing nicknames, and acting like a Spoiled Brat who demands others, especially Ollie, to buy things for her. According to Kiara this isn't just an act Kobo puts on for her audience, she acts like a kusogaki in real life too.
  • Butt-Monkey: While not to the extent of Ollie, Kobo also gets bullied and teased a lot by her viewers and fellow talents at every opportunity, just to see her become flustered. She also gets repeatedly trolled by her Demon Lord sibling Regis Altare, who milks her abrasive temper to the fullest and usually has her scream and rage at his antics.
  • Can't Hold Her Liquor: When Kobo visited Ministry's host club and hired the services of Faun, she got hopped up on two bottles of "Don Hoolio", which has an ABV of 11%note  according to Buffson. Subverted, as it's not even real liquor to begin with, but rather apple juice that Buffson switched in due to concerns about her apparent age, and yet Kobo is still very clearly hammered when Calli barged in to bring her home.
  • Character Catchphrase:
    • "Anying", "Berak" or some variants thereof, related to Lady Swears-a-Lot below.
    • "Let's goooo!" whenever she's excited.
  • Chuunibyou: Most of the time she speaks in Indonesian, it paints her as this trope. The Japanese that she knows also tends to play this trope straight, using overly elaborate Demon Lord-esque speech (even calling herself Kobo Tempest at one point) and having a fondness for using wagahai as her pronoun, not unlike Laplus.
  • Cool Shades: Wears these a few times during her 3D Showcase.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Her regular speaking voice is already loud and high-pitched, and she's prone to unleashing deafening screams when terrified or surprised.
  • Cuteness Proximity: On the receiving end. Many other girls have remarked just how cute and adorable Kobo is like a real child and all of them become doting and protective towards her.
  • The Cutie: Kobo invokes Cuteness Proximity both with the fans and her partners. Her small size, endearing voice and child-like personality makes her one of the cutest idols in not just the Indonesian branch, but all of Hololive.
  • Elemental Hair Composition: Appropriately for a rain shaman, the tip of her hair is stylized like a tidal wave reminiscent of The Great Wave off Kanagawa from ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai. It's become a bit of an inside joke among HoloID members that it's a mystery as to where her hair ends and the water begins, and Anya even wondered if Kobo's "hair" will meld with the surrounding water whenever she goes swimming and turn her bald, while Ollie and Risu seem to be scheming to pelt her with bath bombs and food coloring to see if they will dye her.
  • Fangirl: As revealed on a Jump King stream, Kobo has been idolizing Kanade Izuru since long before her debut, largely due to his voice.
  • From the Mouths of Babes: Kiara is rightfully worried that Kobo will copy anything from Grand Theft Auto V due to how swear-heavy it is. Unfortunately for her, Kobo had already started playing the game, and starts copying and swears with reckless abandon.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: She created her own website for her debut, making her one of the most program savvy girls in Hololive.
  • Ghost Story: Hosts semi-weekly streams where she read fan-submitted ghost stories during Indonesian night hours, though the actual stories tend to range from legitimate horror to joke ones designed to mess with her.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She surprisingly has non-feminine hobbies. She used to play basketball, rides a motorcycle, and has brothers. Even Kiara is surprised by what kind of bag she uses to carry with her personal items.
  • Glamorous Single Mother: After being directly asked by Kobo's chat, Kobo's mom confirmed herself to be one of the only holoMoms who is single.
  • Gratuitous French: Ended up dipping to this when during her collab with Kiarashe said merci beaucoup twice in response to Kiara telling Kobo her first language (German).
  • Happily Adopted: She has since acquired a sizable family, with her fellow idols playing the roles of her parents and older relatives.
    • She's quasi-officially Kiara's "daughter", which became a thing after their initial collabs. Kobo now affectionately refers to Kiara as mommy at all times.
    • As of July 2022, she's also acquired Calliope as an "uncle-dad", though Kobo was actually shocked when the reaper told her that she was adopted. Regardless of the hijinks, however, both seem to be quite content with their rapport, and Calli even affectionately referred to Kobo as her "son" in several Tweets made after their collab. Kiara, however, was less than impressed by this stunt.
Calli: This is getting complicated. You're adopted, I'm sorry you had to find out this way, but you're adopted.
      Kobo: I'M ADOPTED?!
    • December 2022 additionally saw Kronii being included into the "family" as her Cool Aunt.
  • Head Pet: Her mascot Cilus, is an anthropomorphic cloud creature who floats above Kobo's head.
  • Hidden Buxom: While from her static art, Kobo at first looks like another pettan girl. But during an animated PV for the gen, it's revealed that, much like Anya, Kobo is quite endowed as well.
  • Hidden Depths: She is well-versed enough in programming that she made a website for her debut presentation.
  • Irony: Despite being entirely aquatic-themed, complete with mastery over rain and water, Kobo can't swim.
  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: Mostly in Indonesian, especially when annoyed, surprise, or scared.
  • Lighthouse Point: According to her official bio, Kobo lives at the topmost floor of a lighthouse. It's finally shown in its full glory in her 3D Showcase.
  • Like Brother and Sister: With Regis Altare, who began interacting with the fellow blue-haired girl after his debut, with the two bickering just like a brother and sister.
  • Naïve Newcomer: She reveals that she is a newcomer to not just Hololive but to streaming and gaming in general. Prior to joining Hololive, she had never watched any streams before and only auditioned after insistence from her real life friend, while she had only purchased a PC for only a few months prior to her debut.
  • The Napoleon: Very short at 150cm, and generally is very domineering to both her fans and her fellow talents.
  • The Nicknamer: She tends to call her senpai with nicknames, like "Olay" for Ollie and "Burung(-senpai)" (Bird-senpai) for Reine. Even those from other branches, both Hololive and Holostars, are not safe from this, such as "Rat" for Bae, "Nori" for Nerissa, "Ragus" for Altare, "Brian" for Axel, "Grampire" for Vesper, and "Megan" of all things for Magni. For Vanguard, she's named Flayon "Benny", Gavis is "Gabus" and Hakka is "Haikal." In UPROAR!!, Fuma is "Fahmi" and Rio is "Roy".
  • Not Even Bothering with an Excuse: Whereas most other Hololive girls would use euphemisms or just remark about going to the bathroom and nothing further, Kobo is notable in having absolutely no shame about telling her chat she needs to poop, even at one point hitting the toilet unmuted with her headset still on midstream, to her manager's chagrin. Another stream had her announce her leaving the room to fart, during an in-person collab with Moona and Kiara.
  • One of the Boys: Although ID members in general has less preservations in collaborating and interacting with their Holostars counterparts, it was Kobo who takes it to the next level with TEMPUS to the point she can be considered their unofficial member.
  • Percussive Therapy: Very prone to doing this on stream, although rather than yelling out in frustration whenever she lost a life in Feeding Frenzy 2, Kobo elected to slam her mouse instead.
  • Punny Name: Kobo herself and her channel have something of a water-related pun Theme Naming going on.
    • Kobo Kanaeru sounds like "Kobokan Air", which is Indonesian for finger bowl, a bowl filled with water to rinse your hand after eating. Even better, Kobo speaks with a thick Betawi accent, and people who speak with that accent often change the "i" sound of certain words with an "e" sound, like "ribu" (thousand) to "rebu" or "air" (water) to "aer", so her name basically is the Japanese pronunciation of Betawi pronunciation of an Indonesian phrase.
    • Her Spear Counterpart, Cebo, is named after the water one uses to wash their behind after going number two in the bathroomnote .
    • Kobo's mom likewise has the full given name of Shella Ngaeru, a pun on "Selang air", or "water hose" in English.
    • A more distant example would be her membership name, Kobolonimbus, which is her name fused with Cumulonimbus, the type of cloud responsible for rain to happen.
  • Sadist Teacher: In a stream where she teaches Banzoin Hakka and Yatogami Fuma Indonesian language, anytime the boys swear, she proceeds to beat them until they promise not to do it again.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Has this dynamic with Regis Altare from Holostars English, her fellow blue-haired big brother. Their collabs and twitter interactions tend to involve a lot of bickering, insulting, and bullying each other much like brothers and sisters do.
  • Spoiled Brat: One of her core characteristics is a bratty kusogaki demeanor, where she whines, tantrums, and cries like a child when things don't go her way. Kobo will often shift the blame on others and act entitled to wanting things (even treating Ollie like her wallet). This goes hand-in-hand with her being a Bratty Half-Pint attitude of riling others up.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: When Axel and Altare had their first 3D collab together, not only did Kobo get involved, but she also declares that it is now her stream and messes with the two boys.
  • Squee:
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: To Gura, with many considering her to be the "Indonesian Gura". Both are small, blue colored girls with lore related to water. Both behave like children and flit from The Cutie to kusogaki. Both also climbed in subscribers faster than anyone else in their language branch.
  • Toilet Humour: Is very fond of this, as both of her fanbase names are derived from Indonesian terms related to defecating in general ("kobok" means to put your hands in water, while "cebok" means to clean your private parts), she tends to bring up poop topics out of nowhere, and she has alluded to several poop related incidents during her youth. This culminated in her running to the toilet the middle of a Valorant stream, un-muted and being very vocal about the whole process. Even her Spear Counterpart was named after a toilet humor pun, with his name roughly translating to "bidet water" in English. This also goes for her swearing, with "berak" literally translating to "poop" in English.
  • Token Mini-Moe: The smallest and youngest looking member of her generation, who even acts and sounds like a real child. She tries hard to deny this by insisting she is an adult and listing her age as "I'm legal", which always falls upon deaf ears.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Cilor, usually the spicy variant, and she often streams while eating some.
  • Verbal Tic: Tend to say "ehe" at the end of her sentences to denote her mischievous moments and "tch" when incensed at something, both of which were made into her membership emotes.
