Haato Ch. / Haachama Ch. in general
  • Aborted Arc:
    • The HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, or at least for the foreseeable future at the time of the announcement. Due to new rules, she is unable to give the arc its conclusion. Additionally, almost all of the videos related to the arc had become private, though this was later undone on the 28th of the same month.
invokedHaato: Thanks to everyone who has been watching the Haachama series. I was going to put out a video of the ending, but with the new rules, it became difficult to finish it. I'm really sorry to everyone who was looking forward to it. I'm also very sorry that I won't be able to finish it. I've decided to keep this series of videos private. I hope to finish it someday, so I hope you'll remember us and wait for us until that day. Thank you very much for your support.
    • However, it was ultimately subverted on March 30th, 2021, where the whole arc was given a conclusion in one final stream. Except... it might not have been the finale after all...
  • Acquired Poison Immunity: In her curry rice cooking stream with Kanata, she claims that her bizarre taste in food come from getting food poisoning after drinking tapwater in the Philippines, strengthening her stomach in the process.
  • A God Am I: Upon deciding that there was not god, she decided to become the God. Pray to the Godchama.
  • Always Identical Twins: Heavily implied. Throughout the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, many pictures show Haato and Haachama looking identical in their childhood. The most noticeable one is this piece of art that's featured very prominently in exposition scenes. When combined with the implications listed in the Two Siblings In One entry below, as well as the fact that both of them have the same birthday, it seems that Haato and Haachama are very likely to be twin sisters.
  • Ambiguous Ending: Downplayed for the Happy End of the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. While the ending undoubtedly depicts both Haato and Haachama alive and getting along on good terms, it was never revealed how exactly this ending came about. Possible explanations include All Just a Dream, Cosmic Retcon (The events still happened, but reality was altered and Haachama was brought back to life), Haato and Haachama escaping from a "Groundhog Day" Loop (which could be an Alternate Universe), or even Set Right What Once Went Wrong (Time Travel was involved and Haachama was saved before her death).
  • Ambiguously Evil: Both, in the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. While the chaotic, insane and (at the time) dominant personality Haachama is the "obvious" villain, there are hints that the once pure and wholesome Haato may have Come Back Wrong to become as unhinged as Haachama, if not moreso, and Haato's eventual victory as the channel hit 1 million subscribers is treated with ominousness. While Evil Versus Evil is a possibility, some fans have invokedspeculated that all along, Haachama was trying to protect the world from something much worse... Time will tell whether this was the case.
  • Animal Motifs:
    • Pigs. Her fanbase the "Haaton" (はあとん), are small pig-like creatures. Her streams oftentimes feature them on the sides, wearing sack-like pig costumes with the heads apparently sewn-on. A particularly infamous fan-letter that Haato once read aloud took this up a notch. In 2024, she took this even further by giving herself a pig-form dubbed Boochama, followed by her normal model being given pig ears and pig nose accessories.
    • Spiders. She first became associated with them when she began ordering edible spiders and eating them onstream. Then in 2022, one of Mumei's "Mumei Draws HOLOLIVE", had her drawing Haachama as a spider-monster, dubbed "Spiderchama" or "Tarantulachama", which Haachama herself happily approved of. Since then Spiderchama got added to HoloCure and Holo Parade, with many Hololive members learning of Spiderchama's existence. Eventually Haachama officially adopted Spiderchama as part of her own lore and even featured it onstream.
  • Arc Number: 8. Fittingly enough, her birthday is in August, the eighth month of the year, and according to Haachama, "days ending in 8 are Haachama day". 8 turned on its side is Infinity. Guess what Haato's second single, describing her relationship with Haachama, is called. One commenter has even noted that the infinity symbol can be interpreted as forming the top part of a heart symbol. Interestingly, she is also the eighth member of hololive to reach the pivotal milestone of a million subscribers. There are no accidents, indeed.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: She tends to be approving of weird, Nightmare Fuel-type artwork featuring her out of a morbid sense of amusement and adoration, such as the "Spiderchama" image drawn by Mumei.
  • Arc Words: "#FREEHAATO", "#ONLYHAACHAMA", and "#COEXIST" in the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. Support hashtags for Haato, Haachama, and Take a Third Option respectively, they were originally created by viewers in the unarchived singing stream titled "[DEBUT STREAM] #HololiveEN0" at the start of the arc. They would go on to make reappearances within future streams, at times even being the name of the stream itself (which could be equated to an episode title).
  • ASMR Video: This was a major focus of her time as Haato, and as Haachama, she still does such videos on occasion, though they can get pretty bizarre (eating fired chicken) unsurprisingly.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: She can deepen her voice enough to become "Red-kun".
  • Back to the Early Installment:
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Some of the talent, upon joining hololive, would ask who would be considered the best example of an idol that they should observe in order to better understand their own content and place within the agency, and several times management has stated that they should watch Haachama. Haachama herself would say that management was mistaken in saying as such, but her boundless creativity and ability to weave a narrative out of her own behavior in addition to still being able to put on a "pure idol" persona that is considered a canonically different person is a very powerful display of her abilities as a performance artist and redefines what being a virtual performer is about. While not necessarily a calculated move, the Haato/Haachama split personality narrative has given rise to one of the most well-developed character lore arcs in hololive.
  • The Bus Came Back: On July 24th, 2021, after being on hiatus for a month and a half, she returned back to streaming again.
  • Call-Back: Starting from the stream titled "【BIRTHDAY STREAM】誕生日凸待ち ", Haachama Ch. once again uses the HAACHAMA CHAMA! intro as the stream OP, which has been the channel's default intro from April 2020 till halfway through the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. Justified in that the aforementioned birthday stream is the second stream note  in the April 2021 time travel arc, in which Haachama is sent back in time to August 2020.
  • Can't Hold Her Liquor: In her first drinking stream, she took a few shots of (40% ABV) tequila and got plastered almost immediately afterwards, starting with her giggling and mumbling to herself only a few minutes after the drinking, and devolving into incomprehensible gibberish shortly thereafter while trying to read Superchats.
  • Cerebus Syndrome:
    • Akai Haato started as a pretty straightforward and wholesome channel before experiencing some Sanity Slippage during which she dropped her old identity and fully embraced her up-until-then-nickname "Haachama" as her 'true self' and began focusing on increasingly bizarre content (ranging from reviewing porn of herself to eating tarantulas and scorpions). She later revealed on Holotalk that her riskier content was motivated by getting demonetized for an extended period of time because of her ASMR conflicting with a change in YouTube's guidelines.
    • In February 2021, the idea of one persona replacing another that was previously only Played for Laughs (specifically Haachama 'killing' Akai Haato) was, for the first time, Played for Drama and became the base of an ongoing story where both identities are revealed to be explicitly separate beings, vying for supremacy and trying to kill each other off in a series of mind-boggling Kafkaesque streams. She now has the dubious distinction of being the only Hololive channel to truly blur the line between Vtuber and ARG.
  • Changing of the Guard: Haachama became the new host of Reddit shitpost/meme review after Coco's departure.
  • Characterization Marches On: Akai Haato was intended to be a stuck up Tsundere-type girl. Later on with her various videos/streams including Cooking and... bizarre animations, among other things. One thing for certain is that, compared to how she started, she became very... different. On the occasions that Haato comes back, she is often a calm, Nice Girl.
  • Continuity Nod: In "Rainbow Ramen♡COOKING♪【#HAACHAMACOOKING】" (May 1st, 2021), the first Haachama Cooking stream in the May 2021 REVIVAL arc, Haachama acknowledged that her first attempt at rainbow ramen was her first-ever Haachama Cooking failure... except she states that it was last August instead of the actual date the stream took place in (April 5th, 2021), referencing the time travel arc in which the original attempt was a part of.
  • Cunning Linguist: Fluent enough in English to challenge herself to English-only streams. While she does not demonstrate total fluency in most of her streams, Coco suspects Haato's actual level of competency is much higher than she elects to show. Coco's suspicions are confirmed during Haato's collaboration with Amelia, where she's clearly comfortable enough that she can explain, in English, the rules of a video game confidently, intelligibly, and comprehensively. Her voice actress studied abroad in Australia and the Philippines, which is presumably why she learned English in the first place.
  • Does Not Like Spam: She is allergic to, and can't cook, or eat, egg dishes.
  • The Dreaded: Seems to have become this In-Universe after the events of early February 2021, with several other members acting nervously when interacting with her on Twitter or in-game, or even when just talking about her:
    • During the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, Flare and Polka were playing Minecraft together and noticed that Haato logged in. When Flare greeted her with a "Haachama chama~", it immediately sent Polka into a panic.
      Flare: Haachama chama~
Polka: No no no! That's not right! No! That's the wrong person!
      Flare: Eh...? [laughs]
Polka: She's not- She's not Haachama!
      Flare & Polka: Ah... Ah...
    • On April 1st, 2021, Haachama celebrated her 'birthday' as a part of the April 2021 time travel arc. Despite Kiara knowing Haachama's birthday is in August, she congratulated her anyway, revealing the reason in the following exchange:
Kiara: It's a little late, but it's okay because there is a time difference! Happy birthday!!!!
yagaru: (Her birthday is August 10)
Kiara: (i know but who knows whatll happen to us if we don't play along shh 😳😳😳 don't get me in trouble )
    • Even the pseudo-Physical Gods of the Council are not immune to this, as Sana responded to Haachama greeting her on Twitter with what was essentially a polite version of Screw This, I'm Outta Here, and when Haachama tweeted that she liked Kronii's voice, the latter responded with invoked"Why do I hear boss music?".
Sana: Dear ms HAACHAMA. I hope this tweet finds you well. I need to go somewhere else now. Sincerely, the universe

Haachama: OH I LOVE KRONII'S VOICE....
Kronii: Why do I hear boss music?
      Haachama: HAACHAMA VS KRONII !?!?
Kronii: [animated gif of Ted Striker sweating excessively]
    • And then there's HoloX leader La+'s reaction to her "Haachama Darkness Rap": 'Tasukete', which translates to "Help me".
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Despite Haato's constant Angst state, the many moments of her lamenting over the life she could have had with Haachama, and the horrific events she and Haachama go through in the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, the final stream ended with both Haato and Haachama alive, finally #COEXIST-ing in good faith. Sadly, this was subverted in the May 2021 REVIVAL arc, from "H ... C H A M A ? ?" onwards with the unexpected death of Haachama.
  • Elective Broken Language: Discussed Trope, as Coco suspected that Haato is better at English than she lets on, a theory that is not without merit, as there are several instances where she has been heard speaking near-fluent English with only the slightest hint of an accent, as well as entire English-only streams where she was able to not only hold conversations without problems, but also explain the rules to a game in an easily comprehensible manner.
  • Elmuh Fudd Syndwome: A mild case that pops up sometimes when she's speaking English.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: One way to tell the two apart is the hairstyle. Haato keeps her old long hair while Haachama opts for twin tails instead.
  • Flip Personality: Despite the popular belief that Haato is dead, a narrative that many memes would lead the average viewer to believe, Haato returns from time to time:
At the end, she switches back to Haachama for the stream's encore, complete with her voice changing back and a Let's Get Dangerous! one-liner.
Haato: Ah... Huh? Could it be? That everyone wants to hear an encore? Well... I guess that can't be helped. But... if you want to hear an encore so badly... then... then... I have no choice but to do it, right? [...]
    Music stops
Haachama: Well then, let's get serious, shall we?
Haachama proceeds to sing HAACHAMA CHAMA!
    • When Coco went to wake her up on the morning of her first visit to the HoloHouse, she states that she's not Haachama and that she's Akai Haato at the moment.
      Coco: Haachama-chama!?
Haachama/Haato: Haachama-... Haa-, no... not yet, not yet...
Coco: She's tuning right now. Please excuse her.
Haato: My condition... I can't... I'm not Haachama right now. [...]
Coco: You're all worn-out! No good, today's Haachama is a little... this is Akai Haato, not Haachama, isn't it! Akai Haato-senpai?
Haato: Akai Haato... Yeah, I'm Akai Haato...
    • In February 2021 however, this would turn into a case of Split-Personality Takeover, with Haato and Haachama being revealed to be two separate entities fighting for control over the same body.
  • Foreshadowing:
  • Goroawase Number: Her birthday, August 10th (8/10), can also be read as "ha-to".
  • Home Nudist: Admitted to Miko and Korone here. Apparently she Sleeps in the Nude, too.
  • It's All My Fault: As she tearfully revealed in one of her last 2021 streams, Haachama blames herself for Coco's graduation to some extent.
  • I Have Many Names: The various flavors of "-chama", all of which she treats as canon for however long they lasted. Also the tendency for her to rename her YouTube channel every once in a while, which often causes problems with getting it re-verified.
  • Inciting Incident: During her guest spot on Holotalk, she talks a bit on the "how and why" she became Haachama. Originally, Haato was known for doing a lot of ASMR content and felt it was her niche since she wasn't too big into games. After a Youtube crackdown on ASMR videos which resulted in her channel getting demonetized for several months, she decided to push the limits of what was allowed on the platform, with the justification that they already took her money so there wasn't anything she had left to lose. Thus, Haachama was born.
  • Junior Counterpart: Has a Split Personality named Lolichama. Essentially a child version of Haachama, she would show up in dedicated singing streams once in a blue moon. She appears to be unaware of the conflicts between Haato and Haachama, down to not even knowing who Akai Haato is.
  • Karma Houdini: Played for Laughs. Despite the fact that she has streamed six R18 streams, not once has Youtube even demonitized her earnings. So she decided to do a self-imposed demonitization herself From January 17, 2022 to February 17, 2022. Which somehow also made the "chama" as a Verbal Tic.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Despite her ability to eat just about anything under the sun, she's said to be allergic to eggs, and trying to consume them will result in anaphylactic shock. She still eats them anyway from time to time, apparently in an attempt to build up her own natural resistance.
  • Land Down Under: A Running Gag among her fanbase is her connection to Australia, given that she spent a good chunk of her life abroad there. Her unhinged behavior does little to detract her connection to Aussie stereotypes. Her language has even been affected by such; many fans, including her kouhai Hakos Baelz—an actual Australian—have noticed Haachama's English has a subtle Australian accent to it.
  • Mental Fusion: Implied in "[#InvitationForFirstGen] An invitation from management!? 1st gen recreational contest! *also big announcement". During the introduction part of the gen 1 collab, her introduction began with "Oha-rouge! I'm Akai... Haachama-chama~! Haachama, Akai Haato!". When 1st gen members express their confusion over "which one it is", her response was:
Akai-Haachama: Whom you're talking to? Well, that's up to you to decide.
Interestingly, later in the contest when Matsuri brought up the fact that Haato became Haachama at one point, she reacted in a Trauma-Induced Amnesia-like manner, stating that she doesn't know what "Akai Haato" is.
  • Mind Screw: On January 21, 2021, Haachama was scheduled to play Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy but was asked not to by her sister because she knows how loud she can get when frustrated. Instead of cancelling the stream altogether, she went live as scheduled with what can only be described as a highly experimental art piece of a stream.
  • My Nayme Is: Whenever she refers to Haato and Haachama (as in the two personalities) in English text, they are almost always stylized as "Akaihaato" and "HAACHAMA", respectively.
  • "No More Holding Back" Speech: She spoke on her more erratic behavior as this. When she originally moved to Australia, her host family was not very accommodating and pretty much ignored her, leaving her in a bad state mentally. After returning home for a time and then going back to Australia, her new host family was much more welcoming and friendly toward her. She goes on to explain that she was always crazy, but now that she's in a better place she feels much more free to express herself in her content.
  • Older Than They Look: "#BADEND" features a scene of them set in 1888.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: She jokingly states she feels this way about Hololive English. Stating she was the first to be fluent in English then Coco joined and now hololive has an entire section of vtubers that are fluent in English and Japanese making her feel redundant.
  • Person of Mass Construction: She is very well-known in hololive's Minecraft server for her pixel arts and large structures made without a blueprint, among others she made. As an example, behold her Tower of Babel, created entirely by herself.
  • Playing Sick: She once drank soy sauce to get sick in an attempt to skip class. She got much sicker than she had expected.
  • Put on a Bus:
    • On June 12, 2021, she announced that she would be taking a break and would be on indefinite hiatus. It lasted for just about a month and a half.
    • At the end of April 2023, she took another break due to her poor health, and had to be admitted to the hospital, followed by a long recovery period. To not worry her fans and friends, she's made two statements, both in written and in video form that she does feel bad that she wasn't been able to do as much as she had been able to, but was touched by all the support, missed everyone and wanted to get back to doing streams and partaking in events once she was healthy enough. The break lasted for several months, and then she returned on November of that year.
  • Sad Clown: She has mentioned how, between the way her first host family used to treat her (abuse by way of neglect), and the ridicule she would receive both online, from her fellow students, and from the children of her host family, she used to not be in a healthy state of mind, to the point that she would cry almost every day. Luckily, she's better off now, and she has said that she's not the type to focus on her past, more than acknowledging that it's what made her who she is today.
  • Screw the Money, I Have Rules!: A January 2022 stream had Haachama do her sixth lewd artwork review stream, this time with the intent to get demonetized by getting as close to the line of what YouTube will allow as possible compared to her prior review streams, even going as far as to have Marine cohost the stream with her. Once again, YouTube did nothing to her channel. Fed up, Haachama decided to demonetize herself by turning off donations for a month. But then a month later extended the deadline to until she beats Suisei in Tetris.
  • Self-Applied Nickname: Haachama, a combination of her name and "-chama", a childish pronunciation of the "-sama" honorific usually used for cartoon characters. During a collab stream with Watame, she revealed that she actually created it herself because she wanted her fans to refer to her more casually.
  • Significant Birth Date: Her birthday, 8/10, is a Goroawase Number for her name, Haa(8)to(10).
  • Smelly Feet Gag: A recurring joke/complex of hers, that culminated in the infamous "contest" where she asked her viewers for self-made foot videos. And then watched them on-stream.
  • Special Edition Title:
  • Split Personality: On February 4th, 2021, an unarchived stream titled "[DEBUT STREAM] #HololiveEN0" revealed that Haato and Haachama are in fact two different entities, making them this when taking into account of the many Flip Personality and Split-Personality Merge moments she has had, as well as the textbook split personality behaviors that she would evidently exhibit throughout the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. Said arc would also expand on their backstory and partially explain how they came to be (see the Two Siblings In One entry). In retrospect, there were many moments in the past that hinted this was the case:
    • During her first visit to the HoloHouse, Coco started talking about how Haachama was the one who inspired her to join hololive... before quickly pulling a fast one and states that it was Akai Haato-senpai who did, and not Haachama. Coco then went into further detail about overseas fans' "Akai Haato is dead" meme, and proceeds to ask her about what she thinks of the "Disappearance of Akai Haato". Haachama responds as follows:
Haachama: Ah, yes, the loss of Akai Haato... Well, it was kind of inevitable! [laughs] You see, as long as Haachama is here, Akai Haato-shi will be lost, but from time to time I want to revive Akai Haato-shi too! [...]
Haachama: It's like a press conference: "Overcoming Akai Haato-shi's death - Haachama, a word if you please." [laughs]
      Kanata: Death!?
Coco & Kanata: She's not dead yet!
Haachama: [Relax.] She's still alive, yes, still alive.
Bonus points for the "shi" (氏) honorific being attached to "Akai Haato", a formal suffix generally used for a person who is "unfamiliar to the speaker".
    • In a MMD video titled "Announcement regarding the dispute", one particular line in the (original) Japanese dialogue has Haachama and Akai Haato being referred to as two different people. Explanation
    • During a singing stream titled "Subarashinging!!!":
      • She mentioned "Akai Haato is glad" when responding to a red superchat. Note that she basically never refers to herself as Haato in third-person, and has always used standard Japanese pronouns such as "watashi" in the past (i.e. before she started calling herself Haachama).
Haachama: Wowowow, Akai Haato note ! Thank you~ [laughs] Thank you; Akai Haato red superchat, Akai Haato is glad! Hehe, I'm calling my name over and over again.
      • She then later confirms the presence of Haato and that Haachama is 'asleep'.
Haato: Haachama is asleep... [laughs] Haachama is just sleeping now. I just exchange... change [switched with]... I just got on Haachama Ch., just right now.
    • At the end of her first Minecraft visit to the EN server with Amelia, she and Ame built a 'tombstone' with a sign in the middle to commemorate the event. One of the lines on the sign, "R.I.P. HAACHAMA", is immediately followed by another that reads "R.I.P. AkaiHaato".
  • Split-Personality Merge: Before the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, in the occasions where Haachama and Haato directly interact with each other, a non-permanent case of this tend to occur, usually involving Haachama forcing Haato to merge with her.
    • During a singing stream titled "SINGCHAMA WEDNESDAY~~~!!! #2", after mistakenly putting on the non-instrumental version of ''REDHEART'' and being interrupted by her own voice, she refers to that voice as Haato and tells her to not sing when Haachama is singing. The following speech seems to be an indication that it's in fact possible for both Haato and Haachama to be active at the same time.
Haachama: Stop singing! [laughs] Stop singing, Haato! [...] Seriously, what's with you? Haachama is singing right now! [laughs] Stay out of this! [more laughs] ...Sorry, I'm a little conflicted. A conflict with me... I'll try to calm down and unify with myself. We've become "Double Haato" just there, but Haachama... will unify [with her] and become one.
    • Heavily implied in the rather infamous "Void Haato" stream in January 2021. At one point when she's singing in the mostly silent stream, she is suddenly interrupted by a crude drawing of her face which she has drawn earlier, showing up in the bottom left corner of the screen. As soon as she notices it, her expression turns into what can be described as a mix between shock and horror. The drawing then closes in onto her, in which she backs off into the other side of the screen as a response. Nonetheless, both the drawing and her move into the center, resulting in the drawing covering up the entirely of her head. Subtle details throughout the stream denote that up until that point, it was Haato that the viewers were seeing, and the sequence symbolizes Haato and Haachama merging in some shape or form:
      • The stream title, description, and the on-screen visual all use the name "Haato" instead of "Haachama", something that she almost never do unless the topic is specifically about Haato.
      • The name "Haachama" is never seen until after the merge (with the usual stream OP being the only exception).
      • Her iconic stream OP, HAACHAMA CHAMA!, was muted at the beginning of the stream, indicating the absent of Haachama. Appropriately enough, at the end of the stream, said OP plays in the background, underlining Haachama's newly-established presence.
      • One of the songs she sang before the merge was Naked Heart by Aimyon. The literal meaning of the word "Haato" is "heart".
  • Split-Personality Switch Trigger: In the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, the switching between Haato and Haachama is often preceded (sometimes outright caused) by one of the following:
    • The default iPhone alarm. This one is special in that unlike the others, it being used as a trigger of sorts predates the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, as seen in the infamous "Void Haato" stream, which in itself has a very strong basis in Split Personality symbolism (see the Split-Personality Merge entry above).
    • Discord incoming calls. As seen in instances like the... memorable scene in "#FREEHAACHAMA", the calls can function as a trigger, "forcing" a switch to happen in extreme cases. Though given the caller ID explicitly shows that the calls are coming from the other personality, it is possible that this is all in the mind, meaning it might not be a 'real' trigger, so to speak. Can also double as a Trauma Button (especially for Haato).
    • In some cases, even the mere mention of the name "Haachama" and "Haato" is enough to act as the trigger, respectively. Though given how frequent this happens due to the audience participation nature of Vtubers, instances where a switch actually does happen are always part of a "Cutscene" (in moments where the viewers do not actively interact with the streamer).
  • Split-Personality Takeover: Played for Horror. After Haato and Haachama are revealed to be separate entities, Haato would come out after midnight when Haachama sleeps. For a few days, it was wild eccentric streams in the day, quiet streams at night. During these streams each would sometime get discord calls from the other, which they would ignore. It's then revealed that despite hints of a new equality between the two that Haachama wasn't very happy about Haato streaming behind her back and that Haato needed to be punished. Haachama then proceeds to behead her, seemingly killing her and completely taking over her place. However, in the R18 stream a day later, it was revealed that Haato is still alive, but trapped/suppressed. Haato has since turned the tables on Haachama and assumed full control, represented rather gruesomely by a disturbing image of Haato's head attached to Haachama's body with a bloody seam à la Frankenstein's Monster.
  • Switching P.O.V.: The HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc and the May 2021 REVIVAL arc follow the perspective of both Haato and Haachama, with the main one being Haato in the former and Haachama in the latter.
  • That Man Is Dead: Zig-Zagged. In September 2020, she officially renamed her channel to Haachama Ch., giving many fans the impression that Akai Haato is completely gone. She then states that Akai Haato is still alive, only to then go back on that statement about two months after and say that Akai Haato is dead and that she killed her. Despite this, her Mind Screw stream in January 2021 suggests that Haato is somehow still in there, fighting for control, and one stream of Minecraft had her actually switch back to her old outfit part way through the stream, using her original greeting and even calling herself Haato again. Ultimately this trope is subverted as it was revealed that Haato and Haachama are actually separate entities a day after the aforementioned Minecraft stream.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: In a meta sense. As she explained on Holotalk, Haachama was truly born after Youtube demonetized Haato due to her ASMR streams, and for a long time she was left with no income at all. However, instead of falling into despair, she was "very motivated" since she felt she had nothing left to lose, and started doing "whatever she wanted", eventually descending into the abyss of madness that is Haachama. The irony of the fact that Youtube's overzealousness essentially led to the creation of its own worst nemesis is not lost on anyone.
  • Two Siblings In One:
    • Various details throughout the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc hint that Haato and Haachama once had their separate body. This includes the many pictures throughout the arc that depict Haato and Haachama being side by side in their youth, with one even showing up as a picture hanging up in Haato's room. Considering that Haato isn't exactly known for being an artist, it's likely that it's meant to be a photograph, solidifying the fact that Haato and Haachama were born as their own person. Additionally, Haato's Twitter account description from February 9th, 2021 also listed her own account as "sister" note , making this trope very likely to be the reason behind why one of them became a split personality in the other's body.
    • The last scenes of "#BADEND" had Haato heavily imply that Haachama died at some point during their childhood. In addition, Haachama also directly states that she's the older sister in the same stream, making the likelihood of this trope being the truth even higher than before.
Haato: [talking to Haachama via the phone, after what appears to be a Despair Event Horizon event] So you're still alive. How tenacious. You're still clinging to that promise we made in childhood. Even though you're really not supposed to be here anymore.
    • Confirmed canon as of "#COEXIST", where it was revealed that Haachama was killed in a traffic accident of some sort.
Haato: [After the sound of a car crash and ambulance horn] No... No... Nooo!... [cries] There's no way Haachama is gone... We promised each other that we would stay together forever... It's a lie... It's not real, it's not real!... IT'S NOT TRUE!!! [cries]
  • Uniqueness Decay: Discusses this in one of her Fall Guys streams, noting that her English fluency isn't unique to her anymore with Coco and the Hololive English team running around. She then jokes about the possibility of not having to speak English on her streams anymore. It is downplayed in reality because she's still a very unique individual... and because she eventually came to the conclusion that doing english streams was a good way to practice it and not lose her fluency.
  • The Unreveal: In a robot building stream, Haato tried her best to conceal her face due to the robot having a really reflective face plate. Once she finished putting the robot together, she lets her "face" to be seen, only to reveal that she was wearing a monkey mask the entire time.
  • Worthy Opponent: On her December 28 stream, celebrating Coco's "would have been" second year anniversary, she reveals that she saw Coco as The Rival.

"Oha-rouge! It's me, Akai Haato!"

Age (at debut): 16
Place of origin: Japan
Affiliation: HAACHAMA Construction
Occupation (bar idol): Student, Construction Worker (of HAACHAMA Construction in Minecraft)

Hey, I'm here
Eyes full of tears
Fighting, all of the fears
Of losing you again
Dear my, beloved one
My inner loneliness
Let's rewind
The clock 'til we remember the
happiness

The original persona of this channel. Initially marketed as a sassy tsundere high school girl, she would undergo a drastic change in personality throughout 2020. Particularly, after April of 2020, she virtually stopped calling herself Haato and would instead almost always refer to herself as "Haachama". This combined with her streaming alarmingly unidol-like activities such as sniffing her own feet, vomiting and cooking in a rather unconventional way, as well as frequently uploading bizarre short animated videos of herself, resulted in her becoming an entirely different character altogether in the eyes of most fans, effectively killing her off as a persona.

Things would take an unexpected turn in February of 2021 however, where perhaps largely due to the extremely prominent "Akai Haato vs Haachama" idea/jokes note , Haato was officially brought back as her own entity, separate from Haachama.

This profile details trope examples specific to her character on:
Any content from her debut to March of 2020,
Content where she introduces herself simply as Akai Haato and their follow-up tweet(s),
OR Streams and videos on her channel with their title mentioning the name "Akaihaato" (stylized as such).

  • Alternate Identity Amnesia:
    • After she was brought back in February 2021, she would have lapses where she would state that she doesn't know who or what Haachama is, with them increasing in frequency as the arc goes on. It is worth noting that this specific trait was already established in the February 2nd, 2021 Minecraft stream, before the official start of the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc.
    • When her fellow hololive members congratulated her on Twitter for reaching one million subscribers, whenever any of them (Kiara, Iofi, Subaru, Botan, Towa, and Anya) adressed her as "Haachama" or included any part of the word "chama", instead of addressing her as "Haato", she would repeat it, as if confused, before abruptly switching to happily thanking them, as if nothing happened, or vice versa. For example:
Iofi: Master Haachama note !!! Congrats!!
Haato: Haa... chama? [empty space] Thank you, Iofi-chan!
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: While she is generally calmer than Haachama, and doesn't act against her for the most part (when she even knows she exists), she stops messing around after Haachama chopped her head off, seizing control of their body, with the ending being rather ominous.
  • Bound and Gagged: During the R18 stream on February 8th, 2021, there were numerous quick cuts to an image of Haato alive note , tied up and gagged in a prison cell, often accompanied by noises that seemed to imply Haachama was hitting or kicking or beating her while she's there.
  • The Bus Came Back: In early February 2021, she was officially brought back as a separate entity after being effectively Put on a Bus from around April of 2020 onward.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Despite popular belief that she is half-Japanese or a foreigner, she revealed on Twitter that she is actually 3/4 Japanese note  and was born and raised in Japan for most of her life. She would later clarify that the 1/4 foreign blood she has is British.
  • Character Catchphrase: She greets her viewers with "Oha-rouge", a phrase that has since then become an indicator of the presence of Haato.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Many viewers affectionately refer to their ear-drums getting ruptured and bleeding by her screams (usually when she's playing horror games or is surprised) as being "blessed" by Haato's voice.
  • The Cutie: She becomes exceedingly pure and sweet whenever she does a late-night Minecraft stream, ever since she started doing them in late 2019. After she was officially brought back in February 2021, this has become her natural state, even outside of Minecraft streams. Interestingly, despite many viewers finding her to be one of the most seiso idols in hololive, some hololive members are rather unnerved by her very presence (see The Dreaded and Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant).
  • Damsel in Distress: Is subjected to this numerous times after she was brought back from February 2021 onwards, usually trapped and/or Bound and Gagged by Haachama in a prison cell.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: She managed to beat Suisei at Tetris legitimately.
  • Expressive Hair: Not as noticable, but her pigtail moves like Haachama's twintails when she is in Haachama's Elegant Gothic Lolita outfit.
  • Naughty by Night: Perhaps not in the context of what is normally expected, but she is this from the contrast between her normal Nice Girl demeanor and her role in the "top and bottom" dynamic. As invokedconfirmed by Haachama at the end of the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, Haato is top (S) while Haachama is bottom (M). And indeed, in Haato's ASMR stream, especially "H" (the ASMR stream during the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc that involves both Haato and Haachama), Haato takes great delight in teasing her Haatons in various ways.
  • Meaningful Name: Akai Haato, when read in this order, means "red heart".
  • Mental World: Implied and possibly Played for Drama in the once public member-only video titled "チ’’ャマ’’", a mostly dialogueless MMD video depicting the following sequence of events:
    1. Haato finds herself walking alone in a field of red flowers note , seemingly at night. However, everything is shown at a considerably sped-up rate until an all-black, featureless figure of herself note  shows up.
    2. The figure first attempts to silence her but in the next shot Haato and the figure is seen embracing.
    3. With her eyes closed, Haato opens her eyes and proceed to say: "It’s alright. Like I said, it’s alright. Now, go home. Back to where you came from.".
    4. Haato walks off, but is interrupted by the shadowy figure speaking incomprehensible words, and then appearing to change form into a cloud of darkness.
    5. Haato then proceeds to walk away backward, the world distorting note , before shortly transitioning into a sequence of short clips consisting of her past 'crazy' MMD videos, in a manner heavily resembling a flashback.
    6. After the sequence ends, events from the beginning play out again, but this time at normal speed and with everything in the world turned completely white.
    7. The video ends with Haato embracing the figure again, but without saying anything; just smiling and opening her eyes.
  • Mind Rape: Is implied to have been subjected to this by Haachama, represented by the many horrific imagery seen throughout the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. The most prominent indications of this include the short video "NIGHTMARE", as well as the words Haachama would use whenever she "kills" Haato:
Haachama: Bad Haato. You need to be panished.

Haachama: HAACHAMA is your big sister, so I have to educate you.
  • Nice Girl: Although she started out as a somewhat stereotypical Tsundere, she mellowed into a very friendly and approachable girl over time, to the point where hololive managers would refer to her as the role model for other idols to look up to. After she was officially brought back in February 2021, this The Cutie side of her is further emphasized.
  • Nightmare Fuel Station Attendant: When Subaru visited Haato's building in Minecraft, she became awfully nervous when she noticed that the owner was present, and called her "scary" multiple times as Haato stared, slowly inched closer, and mystifyingly threw eggs at her. This eventually leads to Subaru fleeing the scene screaming in fear as Haato gave chase, all while Haato claims that she doesn't know why Subaru is running away.
  • Off with His Head!: After Haato's return, Haachama forcefully takes back control of her body by cutting off Haato's head.
  • The Protagonist:
    • Aside from obviously being the only one for the channel before Haachama's existence, Haato becomes the protagonist again in the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, where the arc places great focus on her mental state, as well as having most of the streams being told from her perspective.
    • Haato is also the central figure in "Infinity", where the lyrics in their literal form are for the most part her words to Haachama, accompanied by visuals of Haato specifically as appropriate.
  • Put on a Bus: From around April 2020 onwards, she starts just about every stream with a different greeting and almost never refer to herself as Haato anymore, effectively killing her off. However, since she was officially brought back in February 2021, it became a case of this instead of Killed Off for Real.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: Despite Haachama claiming to have killed Haato at multiple points, Haato has still been brought back time and time again.
  • Resurrective Immortality: Downplayed in that she is only immortal as long as the entity she is presumely spiritually linked with (Haachama) is still alive. In the R18 stream on February 8th, 2021, despite being literally decapitated a day ago, she is shown to be still alive and states that "As long as Haachama lives, I live".
  • Tsundere: What she was intended to be, and how she started out. Over time, she became more of a calm, Nice Girl, and by the time Haachama was a persona and Haato was brought back, she straight-up became The Cutie (Yandere and Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises moments notwithstanding).
  • Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises: Unlike most other hololive members who would use this expression in a Played for Laughs way, it is instead Played for Drama for Haato. After she was brought back in February 2021, whenever she reads the word "Haachama", she would instead blurt out "Haa... chama?" in a perplexed voice as her irises shrink, followed by a brief moment of silent staring in a manner akin to a Thousand-Yard Stare. Interestingly, this trope is invoked most of the time by the audiences (stream viewers), who would be the ones to mention "Haachama" via the stream chat and superchat, whether intentionally or not.
  • Yandere: Ever since she was 'revived' due to the events of "#REVIVEHAATO", she would occasionally have some yandere moments from time to time:
    • In the stream titled "【】" on February 14th, 2021 (precisely at around midnight of Valentine Day 2021):
      • The intro of the stream has Haato semi-aggressively questioning what the viewers were doing before her stream, all while stuck in a genuinely unsettling Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises face, and with the rather unnerving BGM from "#FREEHAACHAMA" playing throughout the sequence. When the viewers mention that they were watching Haachama Cooking beforehand, her response was:
Haato: What's "Haachama Cooking"? [reading from chat] A cooking program...? Whose cooking stream was it? [Beat] So you watched another woman's cooking stream... behind my back? [sinister girly laugh] Is that right? Is it? [reading from chat] Sorry? [laughs] Don't worry, I'm not that angry...
      • She then remarks on the viewers' usage of the Haachama-chama! (はあ ちゃま っちゃま!) emote, and proceeds to 'command' the viewers to say her greeting instead. Her pupils and irises move around more erratically as she goes on.
Haato: You know... Recently, when I look at the pre-stream chat... sometimes I see this... this emote everywhere. Haa-Chama-Chama... [Beat] Shouldn't it be "Oha-rouge"? Why are you using that emote? [...]
Haato: [in English] Can you say "Oha-rouge"? [back to Japanese] You can say "Oha-rouge", right? Hmm? Right? [reading from chat] Scary? Don't be silly! There's nothing to be afraid of. Fufufu... Oha-rouge♥.
      • While playing Tetris 99 later in the stream, she made this comment on viewers' excessive mention of "Haachama":
Haato: Hey... Why... Why are you commenting "Haachama"? Stop mentioning other women's names. [Beat] Who is that anyway? Are you cheating on me...?
    • Her dialogue in the last lore scene of "HAACHAMACHAMA~" where she expresses her love for Haachama is reminiscent of the twisted kind typically seen in yanderes:
Haato: I'm actually overjoyed. Because with this, we've made good of our promise, right? [happy sigh] That game of hide-and-seek was so much fun! Who would've thought that this time, it's a body that I needed to find! What an ingenious idea! Haachama, you're amazing! In fact, I love you, Haachama. Everything I've done is an expression of my love for you. So please accept my love. Take it... cherish it... it's all for you, ok?

"Haachama-chama~! Haachama dayo ☆ミ" (4th 2D outfit)

Alias: Strongest Idol (self-proclaimed), "Akai Haato"
Species: Haachama
Affiliation: HAACHAMA Construction note , holoX (co-founder), Neko Neko Finyance
Occupation (bar idol): Student, CEO of HAACHAMA Construction (in Minecraft)

Haachama~, Haachama~
Are you subscribed to my channel?
Watch me, watch me right now
You won't forget me!
You want to become crazy?
I'M ALWAYS BEHIND YOU
The somewhat chuunibyou, tarantula and dark matter cooking Australian (not really) incarnation of chaos. invokedMight or might not be an Eldritch being, Parasitic Horror or an Evil Twin.

Although the name "Haachama" technically existed before April of 2020, it's the month where she changed her greeting into it, and insists on referring to herself as Haachama instead of Haato, marking her 'official' appearance as a proper persona, so to speak. Despite essentially replacing the original, Haato was surprisingly brought back in February of 2021, and it was revealed that she and Haato are in fact two entities sharing the same body. However, while Haato wants peace and to coexist with her, Haachama seems to have other plans...

This profile details trope examples specific to her character from April of 2020 onwards that are:
Streams and videos on her channel with their title NOT mentioning the name "Akaihaato" (stylized as such),
OR Content where she introduces herself as "Haachama".

  • Adam Westing: While she might be genuinely bad at cooking, she has jokingly started playing it up to absurd degrees as part of her image, even incorporating the "HaatoBasic" meme in her videos.
  • Animal Motifs:
  • Arc Number: 8, standing for the "Ha" in "Haachama". It would show up rather frequently from the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc onwards. The major events of the arc were mainly streamed on days that ended on 8, which Haachama calls "Haachama Day".
  • Beleaguered Boss: Much like Aqua, her team in the 2020 Hololive Sports Festival in Minecraft doesn't give her any respect at all, to the point that they are always prone to in-fighting but with her. It got so bad, Coco of all people (who was on their team) to stop the girls from fighting (mainly Kanata and Luna, who the former encouraged her to throw snowballs at her).
  • "Blind Idiot" Translation: She once Google-translated "Haachama-chama" into various foreign languages then translated it back to Japanese. Many of the results ended up as "(I'm) crazy". Also, when writing "Haachama-chama" in Japanese, she put a tilde (~) at the end to denote a lengthened vowel. Google Translate didn't pick up on this, and left it as is, which lead to most of the translations coming out as "I'm crazy, tilde" when spoken out loud by the AI.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: During a stream where the chat helped her write messages to Amelia, Ina, and Gura, Haachama wondered if Gura would prefer to be called "bro" or "homie", before combining them into "bromie".
  • Character Catchphrase: She greets her viewers with "Haachama-chama!". A collab with Miko reveals this is actually her full name, with "Chama" being her surname.
  • Chuunibyou: Her Elegant Gothic Lolita invokes this by including an eyepatch.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Some of her weirder moments put her squarely in this trope. Of special note is her "cooking videos". You know you are this when your videos are compared to HowToBasic. She is essentially chaos incarnate with many of her videos featuring her doing outrageous things that test the limits of the fans and YouTube.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Her Meme Reviews, in contrast to Coco's original ones, are partly to test her English comprehension skills as she tries to navigate Western meme culture. In addition, her first few guests note , being more fluently bilingual and having greater familiarity with the subject material, have stepped in at times to provide better context for certain jokes.
  • Cordon Bleugh Chef:
    • She is rather (in)famous for her series of videos showcasing her attempts to cook, which she eventually dubbed "Haachama Cooking". It usually never ends well; viewers often react with surprise if the result looks edible. For instance, she attempts to cook takoyaki, but without the proper equipment she has to improvise, to the horror of a spectating Luna. It was so bad that Luna actually broke character and got increasingly more frustrated at how awful it was.
Luna: Haachama, the oil... Add the freakin' oil!
    • Her 400k subscriber stream (where she attempts to cook hot pot) has other hololive members congratulate her on her 400k subs also has them choose ingredients for her hot pot, and if nobody congratulates her in a period of ten minutes since the last call, she adds Red Bull. Yes, the energy drink. She even managed to scare the unscarable Sora, going by her pauses note  and concerned voice.
    • Her first cooking stream after returning to Japan is arguably the peak thus far, as it features her cooking and eating hot pot containing a tarantula she had ordered.
    • In early April 2021, Haachama attempted to create "rainbow udon", inspired by a joke entry from one of her earlier "cooking contests". Not only did it look horrifying, but it contained a dangerous amount of food coloring, and is one of the foods that Haachama chose not to eat as it was that much of a health hazard.
  • Covert Pervert:
  • Dead All Along: In "#COEXIST", it was revealed that Haachama, who is Haato's sister, died as a result of a traffic accident at some point in the past.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": According to her, she isn't human and that 'Haachama' is a species in itself, meaning that she's named after whatever she is.
  • Epic Fail: When she had a Project Winter collaboration with Suisei, Matsuri, Mel, Luna, Aki Rose, and Choco, her stream crashed during the game. Because of this, she removed the stream off her channel.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Occasionally during her streams where she showcases NSFW fanart of herself or voice acts lewd lines, she comes across content that she admits is especially risky and could get her into trouble, or which she thinks the fans will use to destroy her image as a pure, wholesome idol. Not that she lets that stop her from going ahead with it anyway.
    • Despite her reputation as the company's biggest Cordon Bleugh Chef, even she was flabbergasted by Ririka's low-budget low-effort meals. It was bad enough that she tried to hide underneath a small desk in an attempt to not eat Ririka's self-made dessert.
  • Expressive Hair: Haachama's Elegant Gothic Lolita outfit also features short twintails which she can wiggle. Viewers suspect that their movement is synced with her eyebrows, like the animal ears of other members. If you pay close attention, it actually is mapped to her blinking.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Haachama is almost infamous for her ability to consume just about anything, no matter how strange.
    • Haachama's cooking is best described as "utterly surreal", due in large part to both her Cordon Bleugh Chef habits and the bizarre ingredients she uses like tarantulas and crickets. In a Haachama Cooking collab with Kiara, she disclosed that she actually eats virtually all the food she makes with no ill effects note , likely as a result of Acquired Poison Immunity from drinking Philippine tap water and a lifetime of consuming such strange meals.
    • In their Raft collab stream together, she had even voiced a desire to eat Ollie. According to a Tweet she posted, she probably did, and she also claimed that Ollie tasted like onions, which the zombie strangely didn't refute.
  • Genki Girl: Haachama is exceptionally energetic, with other members claiming that she never drops her levels of enthusiasm. During the 2020 Minecraft Sports Festival, while literally every other member (which was about a dozen of them) were resting, two and a half hours into the stream, Haachama went around throwing snowballs and hitting them, asking for them to pay attention to her and being gently reproached by Coco, Towa and Luna, requiring Polka to lead her away from the group so she wouldn't annoy the rest of the group.
  • Grade-School C.E.O.: Is the CEO of her own construction company, HAACHAMA BLACK COMPANY in Minecraft, despite being a high school student at the time when she created the company.
  • Harem Seeker: In late May of 2022, Haachama sent out DM's to a large number of different Vtubers both her fellow Holomembers and even members of other companies. The DM's told the recipient that Haachama had always loved them and then asked if they would become her girlfriend. The plan did not go very well for the strongest Idol, especially when many noticed they weren't the only one she asked, as well as the fact that Haachama kept getting people's names confused, or mispelling the names altogether. She even asked managers like A-chan, completely forgetting that A-chan was in the hospital when asked. When asked why she did it, Haachama said she just wanted to look back in a year and say she had the biggest harem in all of Hololive.
    • After getting several callouts Haachama went quiet for a bit, but then she started her antics up again toward the end of the 2022 year, this time though she is much more open in her intentions, and instead of asking in secret, she openly in full view of everyone asks people to marry her.
  • Heroic BSoD: She once challenged her fans on who is a Supreme Chef. To her horror, three particular fans knows how to cook. Especially the fan who baked and drew her on a cake.
  • Historical Character's Fictional Relative: When an account by the name of Gordon Ramsay superchatted her during her second attempt at making rainbow ramen, she called the chef "Daddy Gordon" and claimed to be his secret illegitimate child. Gordon then reciprocated by calling her "daughter" in his next superchat.
Haachama: I'm the secret child of Daddy Ramsay.
  • Humanoid Abomination: Not according to her original lore, but she is absolutely eldritch in nature according to most fanart of her (much of which she has acknowledged herself) and pretty much everything else. In the HoloGraffiti she is featured in, she does things such as clone herself infinitely, teleport, and may be capable of extinguishing the sun. She has threatened to eat the members of HoloMyth, which include the embodiment of death. She can turn your brain to HAACHAMA-CHAMA! She has one hell of a Blue-and-Orange Morality to the point that she completely redefines what it means to be an idol. Youtube was too afraid to demonetize her, so she demonetized herself. And if her interactions with Sana and Kronii are anything to go by, she exists outside of conventional space and time itself trembles in her wake. Basically, she is either Nyarlathotep or Chuck Norris. Possibly both.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Haachama ended up conceding defeat at one point in her rap exchange with La+ Darknesss. However, barely a few days later, she started releasing one rap after another with vastly improved quality that could have easily given the small demon a run for her money. It is not entirely clear, however, whether Haachama lost because she underestimated La+ and went a little too easy on her... or whether she is the idol equivalent of Doomsday (or, if you prefer, SCP-682) and spontaneously developed the ability to drop sick bars as a result of her initial defeat by La+. Nevertheless, her renewed determination to stay true to herself, as seen at the end of the aforementioned stream and in the following unarchived singing stream, prompted La+ to concede defeat instead.
La+: You guys: "Why did your tweet say ANSER? The W is missing, you know?"
La+: Because I never had the chance of getting the "W"in in the first place.
  • Inconsistent Spelling: On several occasions, she has written "Haachama" in rōmaji (Latin alphabet) as "Haachamer" possible explanation.
  • Insistent Terminology: After hololive English's debut, she spent quite a few streams jokingly trying to convince her audience that she was actually a member of "hololive EN 0th generation" because of her English fluency.
  • Ironic Nursery Tune: INSANE CRAZY CONTENT (正気な狂気のコンテンツ) is Haachama's version of the famous Japanese children's game song: Kagome Kagome. Needless to say, this song is used to amp up the creepiness factor of her character when appropriate. And oh boy, a variant she released later gets quite genuinely disturbing.
  • Leitmotif: Her stream opening from April 2020 onwards, HAACHAMA CHAMA!, has become this for both the channel and Haachama the character. Interestingly, despite being a very upbeat song emphasizing the crazy, lovable aspect of her, it is instead Played for Horror whenever she gets into conflict with Haato, with poor Haato paralyzed by fear as Haachama inevitably comes for her.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: During a cooking stream, she claimed to be the secret child of Gordon Ramsay. Given Gordon's fame as one of the most successful chefs in the world, and Haachama's fearsome Cordon Bleugh Chef reputation, this trope is an understatement.
Gordon: MY DAUGHTER SHOULD BE ABLE TO COOK
Gordon: what ingredients did you use cause the only thing I'm seeing is MY DISAPPOINTMENT
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: Say what you will about the likes of Kiara, Marine, or Matsuri; at least they haven't done multiple streams where they showcase NSFW fanart of themselves or voice act hentai lines. Played with in that it seems like she does it less because she's actually perverted herself, and more simply because she thinks it's fun.
  • The Magnificent: Calls herself "Strongest Idol" in her official twitter account, as well as occasionally in some streams. Later became part of her stream greeting.
  • Master of the Mixed Message: During her streams where she voice acts lewd lines, if the chat chooses non-lewd lines for her to read, she calls the chat out as "boring" and asks what they're even there for, and if they do choose lewd lines for her to read, she chews them out for bullying and sexually harassing her and accuses them of trying to ruin her image as a pure, wholesome idol.
  • Meaningful Name: A humorous, invokedGoogle translated variation where when translating her nickname/catchphrase from another foreign language and back to Japanese, she gets "(I'm) crazy" or a variation thereof. Likely unintentional, but very befitting due to her Cloudcuckoolander moments.
  • Me's a Crowd: Some of her stranger animated videos shows that there can potentially exist several Haachamas at the same time. One of the Holo no Grafitti shorts even has Haachama overrun the world with her clones at the end.
  • Mind Rape:
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: She belted out an awesome one to rib on Suisei, who tried to pull it off but ultimately failed.
  • Not Quite Dead: Even though "#BYEBYEHAACHAMA" ends with Haato seemingly assuming full control and a scene that could be interpreted as 'the death of Haachama', the video "Congrats for 1M" features a new call from Haachama.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Her outfit of choice is a red and black gothic lolita outfit, and her childish personality can sometimes borderline on evil.
  • Refuge in Audacity:
    • Some of Haachama's thumbnails are from (barely) cropped NSFW fanart of her, some of which is so risqué that fans wonder how she has avoided getting in trouble for it, especially considering YouTube's notoriously strict guidelines when it comes to nudity. Some joke that she's only able to get away with it because even YouTube is afraid of her.
    • During one of her streams where she showcased lewd fanart of herself, she got informed that the stream had been demonetized. Her reaction was essentially "Huh. So, anyway..." as she continued with the stream unabated.
  • Rogue Protagonist:
    • Haachama was the protagonist of the channel for almost a year before the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc. When Haato was brought back, the role of protagonist was also given back to her. As such, Haachama became this as she technically opposed Haato all throughout the arc (excluding the period between "HAACHAMACHAMA~" and "#BADEND").
    • In the April 2021 time travel arc, this is averted as no other character besides Haachama note  is seen on-stream, making her The Protagonist again.
    • In the May 2021 REVIVAL arc, this is back to being played straight again as Haachama is seen killing Haato on-stream in a very sinister way.
  • Rule 34 – Creator Reactions: In-Universe: She made a stream to review her fanart, including the risque ones. Her reactions ranged from being impressed or horrified when she is drawn in very lewd manner. She then went on to do this at least three more times, cleverly using a cage overlay to fool the AI enough to avoid getting banned.
  • Same Character, But Different: The once pure seiso Haato ended up transitioning into the chaotic cursed content posting Haachama. Later subverted in February 2021 where it's revealed they were actually two different entities Sharing a Body.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: Her recurring stream types include things like reviewing lewd fanart of herself and voice-acting the most risqué lines imaginable. She tries to play the part of a Reluctant Fanservice Girl by pretending to panic about how such content will ruin her image as a pure idol, but absolutely no one is fooled considering she's the one who organized the streams in the first place.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Has this dynamic with Luna ever since the takoyaki incident.
  • Sixth Ranger: Invoked heavily with holo EN.
    • As part of a joke on the English branch's existence she has started streaming in English more, including having "English Only" weeks, to assert her dominance as the "sole member of Hololive EN gen 0" and has used #HololiveEN as part of her stream titles whenever she does so. She will also play Minecraft on the EN server from time to time. According to Kiara, Haachama just showed up on the EN server by herself one day, to no one else's knowledge.
    • Since then, the "Hololive EN gen 0" has became much more than just a joke status for her, so much so that she and Coco has announced that they are now the unofficial official Hololive EN 0th gen.
    • At the same time she graduated high school, Haachama departed the EN Minecraft server stating she would only make her return when she is officially declared as Gen 0 of holo EN. That hasn't stopped her from being a regular collaborator with the holo EN branch since.
  • Super-Deformed: In the stream titled "【テスト配信】すやちゃまっ!!!【ホロライブ 赤井はあと】", she revealed(?) that the chibi Haachama originally seen in this video note  is in fact her "true form". Considering that the same chibi turns out to be HAACHAMA's caller ID picture in the HAACHAMA×Akaihaato arc, was Haachama Ch.'s profile picture for months, and is the highest-level loyalty badge for channel members, this may very well be true.

Alternative Title(s): Hololive Haachama Ch, Hololive Haato Channel
