A guard of Laterano who looks serious all the time.
Plume, Vanguard Operator of Rhodes Island, will provide reliable defense for the squad and hold back the enemy.
Rarity: ★★★
ID: No. 192
Subclass: Charger
Tags: DP-Recovery, DPS
Skills: Swift Strike α
Talents: ATK Up
Affiliation: Laterano
Race: Liberi
Birthday: October 28
Height: 158cm

"My name is Plume, formerly of the Pontifica Cohors Lateran. I will be your sword, and your wings, as I defend your very life."

A former member of the Laterano Guard who bumbled her way out of Laterano and into Rhodes Island.

  • Animal Motifs: Birds, due to her Liberi race. If one looks closely, some parts of her body and clothing also resemble feathers. Her internal name in the game assets refers to her as "falco", suggesting she's intended to specifically be a hawk. However, this might be a leftover from the initial concept and there is no telling how true this still is.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Possibly. Her assistant and trust voice lines indicate that she is one of the operators assigned to the Doctor as a personal bodyguard, and imply that she is one of the operators whose interest in the Doctor is perhaps more than strictly professional (though another interpretation is that she's just Married to the Job and socially awkward).
Trust tap line: "Doctor... it feels like I'm abusing my position..."
  • Com Mons: If you draw a 3-star Vanguard from recruitment, chances are you'll either get her or Fang.
  • Crutch Character: Being an easily-obtainable 3-star, Plume has good stats, but nothing spectacular. Her true selling point is her passive, which generates 1 DP for every kill she gets, and retreating her refunds all of her deployment cost. In this sense, one could deploy her early so that she can weather out the initial mobs, then use the DP generated over time and her kill bounties on top of the amount refunded when she is retreated in order to establish a proper lineup. This property of hers also makes her invaluable to have in situations where one is strapped for DP, such as in challenge maps or when playing Annihilation.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Her Operator Record shows her helping Firewatch during a field operation and adapting to her new life on Rhodes Island.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Due to the extremely regimented and disciplined lifestyle of the Laterano Guard, Plume comes off as very distant and cold. However, her exposure to other Rhodes Island operators has started to convince her to loosen up a bit.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: After being dismissed from the Laterano Guard, Plume was apparently so lost and directionless that a pair of other Laterano operators (one is named Backfire, and the other she refers to as "the captain") brought her with them to Rhodes Island out of sheer pity. This continued for some time afterward as Plume struggled to find her place in a new and very different work environment.
  • Fantastic Ableism: Her Operator Record reveals that she used to be prejudiced against the Infected until her new life at Rhodes Island made her rethink her stance.
Plume: "And after coming to Rhodes Island, I realized that people with Oripathy don't infect others simply by walking down the street, nor are they just waiting for death to come. Seeing how Backfire is still alive and conscious, can still participate in training, and can still talk to the captain as energetically as before... It truly makes me happy."
  • Friendless Background: Plume had difficulty connecting with people during her early days with Rhodes Island. Most other Operators didn't even know her codename at first, simply referring to her as "that Laterano guard" due to her tendency to fall back on old habits and stand vigil on the landship deck.
  • Hidden Depths: A line in Plume's Operator Record implies she knows how to play bass guitar. Given everything else, she admittedly fits the stereotype.
  • Married to the Job: According to her bio, Plume has no life outside of work, and has trouble adjusting and getting to know others. The end of her Operator Record implies that she's actively working on this, showing interest not only in Vigna's band missing a bass player but also the Vitafield clothing brand.
  • Noodle Incident: While the reason Plume left the Laterano Guard and joined Rhodes Island wasn't made public, it's heavily implied her departure was caused by her accidental involvement in an unnamed incident that took place in Laterano. Her Operator Record expands on this very slightly, revealing that there were at least two other people involved in the incident that accompanied Plume to Rhodes Island: someone she refers to as "the captain," and another Operator codenamed Backfire.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Liberi are actually a rare sight in the Laterano Guard since their primary weapons are battle axes, which most Liberi lack the natural strength to wield. Plume managed to compensate for her lack of strength by focusing on her speed and technique, instead.
  • The Workaholic: One of Plume's early attempts to bond with her fellow Rhodes Island operators involved signing up for field operations in bulk. The HR Department had to tell her to tone it down a notch, since she was running herself ragged in the process.

Young construction specialist Poncirus: great at building houses, even better at tearing them down.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 488
Subclass: Pioneer
Tags: DP-Recovery, Defense
Skills: Charge γ, Engineer's Wish
Talents: Demolition Team's Code
Affiliation: Siesta
Race: Liberi
Birthday: November 21
Height: 155cm

"You're the Doctor that Ceylon talked about, right? I'm Poncirus. Thanks for agreeing to provide medical assistance to us workers. My codename? It's a kind of fruit that's very close to my hair in color. The workers like to squeeze its juices into wine."

A Siestan civil engineer known for her absurdly bad luck, now stationed at Rhodes Island for Oripathy treatment.

  • Born Unlucky: Bordering on Cosmic Plaything, nothing goes right for the poor girl, to the point where a dumbfounded Warfarin had tried to research if her extreme misfortune had a scientific reason behind it. Not only does this lead to her regularly screwing up seemingly mundane tasks, it'd be more accurate to say that everything that happened in her life so far can be summed up as a series of implausably unfortunate events.
    • When she was interning for a construction company, they used her as a scapegoat and pinned all the blame on her before she was even old enough to graduate from college, firing her right before the internship ended and rendering her unable to find work for some time after.
    • The entire reason she got infected was because when she finally found a job, she once resided in a temporary dorm by a nomadic city that didn't follow proper demolition procedures, causing the debris from the blast to go much further than expected. As it so happened, one of the Originium shards crashed into her dorm window while she happened to be walking along that specific hallway, and she happened to get cut by Originium-tainted glass from the impact. This is such an unusual event that Rhodes' professionals didn't even know it was possible until Poncirus arrived.
    • After getting conned out of her healthcare money, she set out on a journey to visit Siesta as her grandfather once told her, but not only was she flung across the barrenlands going in circles while being repeatedly misled, by the time she actually got to Siesta, it had been buried by a volcanic eruption.
    • She ended up helping out Inam's tribe along the way, and blew up a door because she accidentally mixed up wine and glue when adjusting the hinges. Then when she tells Inam about her dream to go to Siesta, Inam informs her that the Siestan merchants visiting them just left an hour ago.
    • When she arrived at Rhodes, she somehow managed to walk into Aak's seminar on painkillers and got drafted into being a volunteer for the clinical trial. Fortunately, she was the only one who could stand the extreme sour taste, and discussed it at length with Aak after. This then lead to Warfarin personally assigning herself as Poncirus' new physician, with all of the implications that has.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Her codename is the genus name for the trifoliate orange. In-universe, she took her codename from a similar citrus fruit due to it being the same color as her hair, and she's fittingly known for liking sour foods.
  • Gathering Steam: Poncirus needs time to ramp up, as her second skill will only be most effective when activated twice.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Poncirus is a Vanguard who actively wants to stay on field for as long as possible, with her second skill gaining an unlimited duration after being activated twice and periodically generating DP.

Victorian Intelligence Officer Puzzle, ne'er a detail that passes him by.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 4017
Subclass: Agent
Tags: DP-Recovery, Fast-Redeploy
Skills: Key Clue, Follow A Lead
Talents: Sequence
Affiliation: Victorian Empire
Race: Vouivre
Birthday: December 5
Height: 177cm

"You'll have received personal correspondence from the Duke. I'll be stationed and active aboard under the codename Puzzle. No need to bother investigating me; I've handed you all personal information that's been made public."

A former Victorian spy assigned to investigate Dublinn, and joined Rhodes Island to receive treatment under the recommendation of the Duke of Caster.

  • All for Nothing: In his profile, he managed to make contact with an investigation target only to find out that the information had no particular value, which means that he got himself infected for naught.
  • Badass Bureaucrat: He's very skilled at paperwork, and often disguises himself as some type of paper pusher during missions. It's mentioned that had he not been recruited as a spy, he would have gone on to be an actual clerk or bureaucrat.
  • Body Horror: His Elite 2 art shows Originium patches on his exposed left arm.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: He doesn't really treat the event where he got infected with Oripathy particularly important, simply saying that he got infected during the course of a standard assignment.
  • The Chessmaster: Coming up with complex plans is his specialty, and he manages to come up with one that thwarts Dublinn's attempts at recovering or killing Reed while at the same time exposing without a doubt that Harmonie and the Duke of Wellington are allied with Dublinn.
  • Consummate Professional: Despite clashing briefly with Rhodes Island operators during his time as a Victorian intelligence agent, he holds no ill will towards the organization now that he is an operator himself, and he assures his superiors that he no longer has any interest in pursuing Reed or Harmonie.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Puzzle is a bit different than Cantabile as his skills are attack-recovery which doesn't make him quite as good as an assassin. However, if he is left with his S1 to hit a stationary target that never moves (like say, the unactivated mech in the bottom lane of the Annihilation map based on Dorothy's Vision) his DP gen over time is actually slightly faster than Myrtle's. On the other hand, his S2 is a lot more finnicky to manage since it's attack recovery, but unlike other operators with poison attacks like Thorns or Blue Poison, Puzzle's poison stacks with itself, meaning he can actually output a reasonable amount of Arts damage just by hitting the same guy over and over.
  • Hidden Depths: He enjoys puzzles, takes his codename from them, and his potential token is one.
  • Loophole Abuse: His Sequence talent grants him bonus ATK and up to 2 SP when attacking an enemy that has full HP, which normally means it'll only proc once per enemy. However, this doesn't apply to invincible environmental objects that can be targeted by operator attacks, or even Stainless' turrets which are similarly invulnerable, causing the effect to proc over and over again and letting him spam his skills with impunity.
  • Meaningful Name: He took on the codename of "Puzzle" due to his deep fascination with them.
  • Mythical Motifs: Wyverns. A purple one made out of smoke appears in his Elite 2 art.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Dresses in a very fine black suit for battle.
  • Spotting the Thread: He's able to deduce Harmonie's allegiance from her being unable to cover her shock intuiting that Reed has left Rhodes Island.
  • The Spock: Almost all of his decisions are made logically and he rarely lets emotion influence his work, though there are some occasions he can't help himself. It's noted by his Victorian colleagues that he rarely, if ever, smiles.
  • Super Smoke: His Originium Arts covers the battlefield in smog similar to Crownslayer's, to compliment his stealth combat capabilities. He does not use this ingame, most likely due to Rhodes Island not permitting him to be on the field unless he stops using his Arts.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: In one of his voice lines, he explains to the Doctor that the book on antique appraisal he's carrying with him is for research purposes only, and certainly not related to any of his personal hobbies or interests.
  • Weak, but Skilled: His Arts aptitude isn't particularly strong and his physical condition is noted to be below the average for Vouivres due to his Oripathy, but he makes up for it with his skills as an intelligence agent.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: A pragmatic version of this. While he's under no illusions about the realities of his job, Puzzle seeks to prevent all conflict and enforce order.

Reed, Rhodes Island inpatient, will provide personal assistance to those who are trustworthy.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 261

Skills: Swift Strikes γ, Soul Spark
Talents: Blighted Blood
Affiliation: Victorian Empire
Race: Draco
Birthday: October 16
Height: 172cm

"You were the ones... who saved me? You want my name? ...Just 'Reed' is fine... like the reeds by a pond. A nondescript existence..."

A mysterious Draco girl who was rescued in Victoria. She has almost no background and uniquely powerful Arts, and seems to be tied to Victoria itself...

  • Actress Allusion:
  • Ancestral Weapon: Her spear was originally her sister's, who gave it to her when she founded Dublinn. And just like a lot of what she got from her sister, the spear is completely unfit for her: after becoming the Flame Shadow and growing into her own, she left it in Rhodes Island's storage and had a new one custom-made, with a noted massive boost in her control over her abilities.
  • Anti-Magic: Her Talent, Blighted Blood, passively grants her bonus RES, implying that her biology is somehow resistant to Originium Arts. At Elite 2, she can hit up to 20 RES, which is something usually only reserved for Casters or Supporters.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: For as long as she can remember, her whole life has forced her to follow Dublinn's violent ways, which she always detested. This causes her to be meek and indecisive as a result.
She didn't give me a choice.
This child isn't the first of our fellows I've killed. How young was I then? She had me burn the Victorian merchant who wouldn't sell us bread, to death.
I forget how I did it. I shut my eyes and lifted a knife, yet stabbed into only a pile of acrid ashes.
And after, more and more ashes came. Just like this child, the braver, the faster they burn.
  • Decoy Leader: To Dublinn, with only the elite members being aware of her true identity.
  • Delicate and Sickly: Reed suffers from an acute form of Oripathy and is in an extremely advanced stage, with the infection present all over her skin and rapidly eating away at her body, thanks to being stabbed in her abdomen with the worst form of active Originium in Chapter 9.
  • Draconic Humanoid: Naturally comes with being a member of the Draco race.
  • Fighting Irish: Reed's lineage came from Tara, the last hold of the Draco King before the Aslan forced his surrender, mirroring the Anglo-Saxons supremacy over the Celts. While she's a lot more reluctant compared to the other Irish-analog in Dublinn, she's still a powerful warrior and knows it.
  • Horned Humanoid: She has two long, black horns.
  • I Am the Noun: "I... am Dublinn!" It's part of her role to be Dublinn's true leader body double. She actually dislikes doing it.
  • Magic Knight: As long as her S2 Soul Spark is active, she gains a 30% ATK boost, and does an extra 15% of her ATK as Arts damage while also allowing her to gain another DP per kill at Skill Level 1; once it's maxed out, it becomes an 80% ATK boost, and she'll do 35% of her ATK as Arts damage.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • She chose her codename precisely because she thinks she's insignificant, just like a common reed. The reed is tall grass that can be used as camouflage just like her who was a body double for the true Draco clan's heir.
    • Her real name Loughshinny holds significance as well as it is a village along the coast that faced the blossoming Roman Empire in ancient times, and in more recent years has been considered the location of the original town settlement of Eblana which is the namesake of her sister Eblana/"Leader" instead of as the original name of Dublin in ancient times. Foreshadowing the direction of the sisters relationship as they come further into conflict with one another.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: In addition to being able to deal Arts damage with her second skill, and having innate resistance with her talent, Reed's second skill also doubles the amount of Deployment Points she generates with each skill, something unique among Charger Vanguards.
  • Mysterious Past: A lot is implied by Reed's bio, but very little is actually confirmed. What we do know is that she is of royal blood and an heir (or at the very least, a spare) to one of several forces vying for the Victorian throne. She's implied to have been something of a menace on the battlefield, if Bagpipe's and her own reactions are to be believed, though she seems to be horrified of this, and tries desperately to leave that past behind to little avail. Chapter 9 confirms this by revealing that she was a Decoy Leader of Dublinn and a body double for her sister, the true leader of the organization.
  • Mythical Motifs: Drakes. Reed has a lot of physical draconic features, including her tail.
  • No Social Skills: She does not react well to having to actually communicate with other people to such an extent that any attempt to communicate with her needs formal written approval. This is likely to do with her having trouble trusting others. Manifests in her having the Solitude RIIC skill, which allows her to recover own morale at .7 per hour when she's placed in a Dormitory.
  • Noodle Incident: She has met and likely fought against Bagpipe in the past, but doesn't seem to recognize her and refuses to elaborate. Bagpipe is wary, but also curious of and pities her for her state of being. Apparently, something catastrophic may happen if the two were to meet in physical contact, hence the restraining order on both of them. Episode 9 explores this detail in-depth.
  • The Only One I Trust: The Doctor. Though she keeps her past secret from them, this is out of the concern it will indirectly cause them harm. Besides that, most of her lines make it clear that she cares for them, with her Talk #3 line trusting them as the only one to do the medical checkup over all the other doctors.
  • Playing with Fire: Well, sort of. She certainly has the fire imagery down, and her powers involve a lot of burning, but Skyfire vehemently refuses to call her a fire user: Reed's Arts apparently revolve around Life Energy manipulation, and the fire is a consequence of living tissue going out of control and exploding with energy (hence why parts of her own body seem to be permanently ablaze).
  • Queen Incognito: Her profile features a Victorian history lesson about how the Dracos previously ruled the empire before the cat-based races invaded and forced them to share the right to rule. The Draco king's clan is as far as we know extinct, leaving the Aslan lions the sole claimants to the throne; but the lesson immediately veers onto the possibility that heirs of the Draco bloodline might have survived, and may even be on Rhodes Island right now... Also, even Siege, who is heavily implied to be a Victorian royal in hiding too (and an Aslan, to boot), has voiced her suspicions of Reed's true nature. However, this trope is later confirmed - she is a part of the Draco Royal line. However, the first in line in Reed's elder twin sister, with Reed herself being the Spare to the Throne.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: She has bad memories of things being set on fire, and is one of the few operators with a negative 4-star victory line. Her position in Dublinn pushed her into violence, reducing many things and people to ash with her power against her will.
"Endless battles, flames that never cease smoldering... This is not what you truly desire, is it?"
  • Spare to the Throne: While she's a member of the Draco royal family, she's not the main heir of the clan; that would be her older twin sister. Because of that, she acted as her sister's body double, and as a result feels a lack of identity and existence, which she insists on keeping up. This manifests in her RIIC skill Substitute, which lowers the rate at which Morale is consumed in the Command Center.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Thanks to her horns and massive tail, sleeping on her back or stomach is uncomfortable for Reed, so her most comfortable sleeping position is sleep standing, as shown in the official RESET artbook.
  • Winged Humanoid: Invoked in her Elite 2 art, in which Reed looks like she has flaming dragon wings on her back.

"Thou art the Doctor? Hail and well... ah, ought not I be more serious at times like these? Ahem—my name is Saga. I am a wandering monk. Should there be any place thou mayst need me, refrain not in sending me!"

A wandering warrior monk adopted by a Yen temple, who left the temple on her own journey. Spent ten years trapped in one of Dusk's paintings (which was only a few months in reality) before being freed due to the intervention of Lava and her cohorts.

  • Achievements in Ignorance: In "Who is Real", when Dusk catches on to Nian's trickery, she traps each party member into individual painting worlds based on their lives. While Kroos, Lava, and Mr. Nothing need Nian to break them out of their dreaming states, Saga (who dreams of attending a feast with an army of alternate selves) somehow manages to escape the painting by herself. When an incredulous Dusk asks her how she did it, all she can say is that she just did.
  • Animal Motifs: Dogs. Although the specific breed isn't shown anywhere in her art, it's generally agreed that she's based on a Shiba Inu, due to her Higashi heritage, the shape of her ears, and her loyal, friendly nature.
  • Antiquated Linguistics: Sage speaks in a very formal, archaic manner to highlight her isolated monastary upbringing. In the English version, she speaks Early Modern English, complete with addressing the Doctor as "thou".
  • Big Eater: She adores food, to the point where some of her skill activation lines are just her yelling the names of food that she (apparently) desires at the time. She also expresses joy at being able to eat more good food after getting a job at R.I. and being promoted. As a Warrior Monk, it's implied that she's used to eating sparingly.
  • Blow You Away: Her third skill's extended range is visually represented by her stirring up blasts of wind on attack.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: A cute Perro girl, with rather loud, shrill battlecries that can give Kroos' "Koko da yo!" a run for her money.
  • Finish Him!: Her third skill causes her to launch additional follow-up attacks on enemies she hits that are below 50% HP.
  • Flash Step: It's difficult to see, but if done using Freeze-Frame Bonus, one can see this is how she executes her Skill 2. She executes four slashes in all four cardinal directions so fast she leaves a very brief afterimage that would make an Iaijutsu Practitioner proud. This is also how she executes her follow-up attacks when her third skill is active.
  • Heroic Second Wind: When she drops below 40% HP for the first time, her second talent will temporarily grant her 70% physical evasion and regenerate 5% of her max HP per second for the duration, helping her get back into the fight.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard: If Saga is placed too close to a blue box, any enemies that she cripples will be able to just strut into the objective despite their lowered speed, unless she has a S2 charge or an ally to kill them first.
  • Humble Heroine: While she claims that she's not a real monk and simply got adopted into the temple by the head priest, she's actually a genuinely unlapsed Buddhist.
  • I Choose to Stay: When she became trapped in Dusk's painting, Saga quickly became aware of the fact, yet chose to stay in the painting for ten whole years (only a few months had passed in reality) just because she enjoyed her experiences there, even if it was just in a painting. This is in stark contrast to many of the other characters who obsess over whether things in the painting should be considered meaningful or not, given that they aren't "real".
  • Image Song: "Self-observation"
  • Immune to Mind Control: Her monk training and personal mentality has sharpened her mind to the point where she's able to resist and sometimes outright overcome the high-level psychological magic behind Dusk's paintings, something that Dusk herself says is something very few people can manage to do.
  • Kill Steal: She outright encourages this in-game. Her Talent leaves her physically unable to kill enemies outside of her S2, mortally wounding them and crippling them instead. Anything that kills a wounded enemy will gain up to 2 SP, letting Saga feed her allies SP by giving them a steady stream of mortally wounded enemies to kill.
  • Last Chance Hit Point: Inflicts this to enemies, leaving enemies she would have killed at 1 HP. While she cannot attack enemies that are in this state, they'll either expire after a bit or her allies can kill them to gain SP - and considering they're going to be significantly slowed, it's a lot easier to do either.
  • Naginatas Are Feminine: Self-explanatory.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: Saga-tennou in her case, Japanese emperor in the past.
  • Older Than She Looks: The ten years inside Dusk's painting (which was equivalent to a few months in the real world) doesn't physically age her, yet still makes her unnaturally wise and worldly.
Storyteller: "Pray be at ease. You came to the mountain when the autumn winds were yet blowing. 'Tis merely the beginning of winter now. It was but a brief dream."
  • The Pollyanna: This is essentially the reason why Dusk's Lotus-Eater Machine pretty has no effect on her; she's so spiritually enlightened that no psychological attack can melt through her optimism. When Dusk traps her inside an endless expanse filled with nothing but countless alterations of her, expecting that some of them will have different view on life that will break her spirit, Saga simply sits down in a banquet with her numerous clones and talks with them one by one. None of the clones are any less pure-hearted than she was and Dusk's illusion, completely defeated, fades away on its own after Saga finishes her banquet.
  • Spam Attack: Her S2 Cleansing Evil is a low-cooldown, charge-storing skill that deals good area damage and can be fired very frequently. What really pushes it into this territory is that it kills enemies wounded by her talent, letting her harvest SP from her own victims and possibly fire another S2 instantly. Against swarms of enemies like those in "Originium Dust", Saga can fire her S2 almost continuously.
  • Third-Person Person: She often refers herself with the archaic pronoun sessō, which literally means "this humble priest of Buddha".
  • Walking the Earth: She wanted to see the world beyond her monastery and to see the beautiful vistas depicted in paintings and tales, which is how she ended up in Dusk's paintings while travelling through Yen. Her employment at Rhodes is the result of another wandering when she accidentally walked into one of their offices.
  • Warrior Monk: She has the usual getup of a travelling Buddhist priest, complete with robes and prayer beads. Interestingly, she does say that she's not an actual monk, just that she's raised in the monastery. She does however introduce herself as a humble servant of the Buddha to everyone she meets.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Downplayed, but Saga was such a purehearted person that her master was downright afraid of sending her into such a Crapsack World. She's not exactly naive, but she's still somewhat innocent towards the extent of the struggling that permeates Terra, and expresses confusion at things like why people think the Infected need to be punished.
  • You Are Already Dead: Saga's Talent doesn't normally allow her to outright kill her enemies, only leaving them at 1 HP instead, but inflicting them with the Wounded status debuff. Wounded enemies will die on their own after a few seconds, if they haven't been killed by your other operators already, considering their reduced movement speed. Unless she's using her S2, which deals AoE damage in a cross shape around her, Saga cannot and will not hit Wounded enemies.

"You must be Rhodes Island's commander? Operator Saileach, reporting in!"

A kindhearted Victorian honor guard who was swept up in the disaster that struck Hillock County, which permanently changed her outlook on life but not her desire to help the downtrodden.

  • Affectionate Nickname: "Janie", which is used by her close friends.
  • All-Loving Heroine: She's a very compassionate young woman who treats everyone with fairness and is quick to trust people. This backfires horribly when said compassion leads to the death of her best friend, turning the townsfolk against her for being a Victorian soldier. This doesn't stop her from coming to their rescue when a Dublinn soldier tried to kill them.
  • Being Good Sucks: A turning point in Chapter 9 is when the Tarans she has been living with turned against her for unwittingly leading her friend Saoirse to her death, with some even mocking Saoirse for betraying Dublinn. This caused her to question the people she's siding with, go through a brief period of cynicism, and fortunately be encouraged by Outcast to overcome it in order to keep doing the right thing.
  • Braids of Action: Her long hair is accompanied by two smaller side braids.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Her family are actually immigrants from Sargon, fitting themselves into Victorian society over the generations.
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: When her third skill is active, enemies in range of her flag will take up to 30% increased damage.
  • A Day in the Limelight: She is featured as one of the main protagonists of Chapter 9.
  • Feminine Women Can Cook: She's quite in touch with her feminine side, and is a capable cook to boot.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Easily one of the nicest, kindest characters you'd ever meet in a place like Terra, but thanks to Bagpipe's advice, she won't hesitate to protect her friends from injustice, even if she has to go against her own colleague in the army or a Taran.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She has blonde hair (which is particularly long) and is an all-around good-natured person.
  • Honorary True Companion: Even before she's officially recruited as a Rhodes Island operator, she already mingled with Rhodes Island officials in County Hillock for quite awhile. One of the reason why she survives Chapter 9 is because Rhodes operator asks Outcast to save her for being "half a Rhodes operator".
  • Horned Humanoid: As per other Vouivres, she has two draconic horns on her head.
  • Image Song: "Towards Her Light."
  • Jeanne d'Archétype: She's basically Hypergryph's take on the archetype. She's a Lady of War whose special skills use faith as a motif, and who turned to battle to protect the downtrodden. Her colour scheme (blue and white with gold hair) and her weapons (a banner and a sword) connect her specifically to Fate/Grand Order's version of Jeanne D'Arc.
  • Lady of War: As expected of a Jeanne d'Archétype, being a kind, beautiful, and graceful young woman who carries her standard to battle and fights with a Royal Rapier.
  • Meaningful Name: "Saileach" means "willow" in Irish, which is a nod to her real name.
  • Mythical Motifs: Saileach's Elite 2 artwork depicts her with a multi-headed naga.
  • Nice Girl: She's possibly one of the nicest people to be around on Rhodes Island.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Scorned by the people she's trying to help for taking up Saoirse's request to get someone who can defuse the tense situation caused by Dublinn's activities.
  • Pointy Ears: Notably one of the few known Vouivres with these ears alongside Vanilla.
  • Rags to Riches: Not her, but she once described how the grandfather of her grandfather came to Victoria with nothing, having built the wealth and status her family is now blessed with.
  • Reduced Mana Cost: Her second talent reduces the deployment cost of the next operator deployed after her by 2.
  • Support Party Member: Like all Standard Bearers before her, her main purpose besides producing DP is to provide utility to the team. Her first talent lets her flag grant an attack speed buff to allies and debuffs to enemies on the surrounding 8 tiles. While the flag is normally attached to her, it can be repositioned with her skills. Her second skill grants regeneration and a significant defense buff an ally, and her third skill inflicts stun, slow, and Fragile to enemies.
  • Supreme Chef: Her cooking is mentioned to be very well-regarded by the operators of Rhodes Island.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Starts out as this, living up to her guard of honor position who sings Victoria's glory. As we learn more of her in Chapter 9, she's aware deep down of Victoria's corruption and chauvinistic mentality. But due to being raised to assimilate herself into the society, she slowly starts to forget this, only to be reminded of it again by the events of Chapter 9, eventually causing her to desert the army.

"I'm Scavenger. Leave the dirty work to me. Just pay what I'm owed and we'll be good."

A former mercenary who was banished by her tribe for being infected.

  • All Your Powers Combined: Scavenger is practically a hybrid of Courier and Vanilla, with her skills being slightly upgraded versions of their own.
  • Animal Motifs: Rats. It is fitting since she is known for finishing off leftovers.
  • BFS: Her weapon is a heavy blade. One of her Promotion Files mentions that it's a terrible weapon for a covert mercenary, and that she probably uses it to indicate that she'll stop at nothing to eliminate her targets.
  • Butch Lesbian: Scavenger is tough and burly, but she also used to be in love with a young woman in her old tribe before her exile. Now, she prefers only the company of Provence, but don't ask her about it, or she'll deny it to your face.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Both she and her former love interest are guilty of this. They loved each other, but lacked the courage to admit it. Tragically became Unresolved Sexual Tension when the other girl died shortly after Scavenger was banished from her tribe. Apparently, she hasn't quite learned anything, since she's not about to tell Provence about her affection either.
  • Everyone Calls Her "Barkeep": She was called "Scavenger" due to her reputation for taking up jobs that nobody dared to, or taking care of "inconveniences" that her employers wouldn't personally bother with. In other words, she's picking up the "leftovers".
  • I Work Alone: After being banished by her old tribe because of her infection, Scavenger developed severe trust issues and prefers to be left alone. Her Lone Wolf talent reflects this by granting her combat buffs when no friendly operators are deployed within the four cardinal tiles adjacent to her.
  • The Lost Lenore: Scavenger's love interest died after Scavenger was banished, without her being able to confess her love. Scavenger still carries the grief under her tough exterior.
  • Overt Operative: She hires herself out as an assassin, however her choice of weapon makes people question this.
  • Sword Plant: Scavenger will plant her BFS behind her when idling.
  • Tsundere: Towards Provence. She reminds Scavenger of her deceased Love Interest, but Scavenger responds to any mention of her feeling for Provence with disdain.

Affiliation: Glasgow - Victorian Empire

"I've passed the strength test, right? So assign me some missions to do—my hammer is getting bored! My codename? They call me the Siege. Curious name, but it's got a nice ring to it."

The leader of the Glasgow gang and a natural-born leader with a mysterious past tied to Victoria.

  • A Mother to Her Men: Her gang, Glasgow, is very tightly knit and all of its members are deathly loyal to her.
  • Actress Allusion: Big time. A young woman with blonde hair, a noble bearing, an association to lions, and lore brimming with Arthurian legend sounds quite similar to Ayako Kawasumi's other renowned role as a certain blonde-haired King of Knights. The list of evidence that she is Arknights' own Saber is stacked: she claims not just anyone can wield her hammer, is very strongly implied to be heiress to the throne of Victoria, Arknights' own version of the United Kingdom, and her trio of lions is named after some of the knights of the Round Table, namely Gawain. The reference completes itself in Chapter 11, with Siege acquiring her birthright in the "Sighs of Kings", a sword that serves as a direct Expy of Excalibur.
  • Animal Motifs: Lions, due to her Aslan race. Siege is even surrounded by three of them in her Elite 2 art. Animal Gender-Bender seems to be fully in play, however, as Siege's massive bushy hairdo is clearly based on a (male) lion's mane, which lionesses lack. This, and her talent's name King of Beasts, just adds to the mystery that is her past.
  • Animal Stereotypes: She's a lion, so she's associated with royalty, and she's brave, powerful and majestic.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Siege's kit is notably much more aggressive compared to other Vanguards of her subclass, with special mention going to her Aerial Hammer skill, which generates portions of its total DP count in staggered chunks of 3 with each hit, instead of all at once. Her S2 makes her a great frontline Vanguard, but not very good when placed behind a line of defense, since she has to be able to hit something in order to start generating DP. If Siege cannot trigger Aerial Hammer, then she's basically dead weight. E2 her and she'll gain the talent Crushing, which restores SP whenever an enemy dies on her tile or on a tile adjacent to her tile. This happens to be the same range as Aerial Hammer, meaning if you deploy her on the front-line, she will be frequently spamming it and recharging it at ludicrous rates. This also makes her pretty much unbeatable by early-level Zerg Rushes.
  • Boxed Crook: Siege used to run a gang in old Londinium until they were chased out of the city and drafted into Rhodes Island.
  • The Chosen One: Her final profile entry is written by a unknown party that warns the Doctor that Siege's time in Rhodes Island is important since she will play a crucial role in future events; her first and brief storyline appearance in END8-1 also strongly hints that she has an important role in the story after the end of the Reunion conflict, which does come to fruition in the upcoming Episode 9. Episode 10 confirms without a doubt that she is the next Queen of Victoria.
  • Dual Mode Unit: More unconventional than other Dual-Mode Units in the game, but at Elite 2, she unlocks Skull Breaker. Skull Breaker, has zero DP generation whatsoever, but instead provides a massive attack buff and makes attacks stun while it's active, turning Siege into a Guard. However, this is only achieved by selecting a different skill, so she can only take one role at a time.
  • The Exile: She was forced to flee Londinium after her family was deposed and executed.
  • Foregone Conclusion: One of Delphine's voice lines spoils the fact that Siege becomes the new Queen of Victoria after the conclusion of the Londinium Incident.
  • Hammerspace: Where else would she store that drum can that she's sitting on while wearing her "Vitafield Rewilder: Relic" skin in the base?
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: In her default art, Siege wears a black leather jacket.
  • Heroic BSoD: Losing Baird in Chapter 12 over a miscommunication error with a deaf Infected has Siege completely shut down and lose herself during the course of Chapter 12, deciding to forsake her claim to the throne rather than lose any of her comrades in Glasgow.
  • He's Back!: After the hectic moments that challenged her will in Chapter 12, Siege comes back to her senses, realizing the stakes, and decides to unify the resistance from the nobility and the common folk in Londinium and make a stand against Theresis and the Military Commission's occupation by announcing the creation of a new army, all while giving a Rousing Speech about retaking their homeland.
  • Hidden Depths: According to her Glasgow gangsters, she doesn't like potatoes, she sleeps longer than most people, and she always carries sour lollipops.
  • Image Song: "Rekindle".
  • Meaningful Name: She shares her real name, Alexandrina Victoria, with Queen Victoria herself.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Conditionally. While her S3 is active, Siege becomes a quasi-Guard and no longer generates DP.
  • Mysterious Past: Rhodes Island leadership isn't entirely convinced Siege is being truthful to them, since she and her gang are far too skilled and professional to be regular street thugs. What's also odd is that all of Glasgow refuse to talk about their time in Londinium. Later profile entries from Kal'tsit and an unknown party confirm that Siege is covering up her past, and her coming to Rhodes Island wasn't by accident. The implication is that Siege is an important part of the ruling class of Victoria who was forced into exile, and she is perhaps even the heiress to the throne.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Siege is a fairly understanding, if curt, person who wants the best for her people regardless (as both the leader of Glasgow and the heir to the throne of Victoria); so when Baird is accidentally killed by an Infected over a communication error due to them being deaf, Siege is about half ready to seek out and kill the Infected who did it even though it wasn't their fault due to the sheer panic of the situation before going on a hateful rant over the whole of Victoria over losing two of her closest friends in a short span for a country she never really wanted to return to, before swearing off her claim to the throne and instead return to being just Vina of Glasgow only.
  • Oral Fixation: Almost all of her sprite animations have her constantly sucking on her lollipop, even when fighting. And no, unlike Texas, she never takes her free hand off of the handle. Really, the only time Siege isn't munching on anything is when she's asleep.
  • Plan B Resolution: In her third trust line, Siege mentions that she has a plan B handy should they ever be driven into a corner. As for her intentions for the Doctor's role in that plan, she refuses to say.
  • Portmanteau: Her known name of Vina is a combination of the last syllable of her first name, Alexandrina, and the first syllable of her last name, Victoria.
  • The Protagonist: Siege becomes one of the focus characters for the second Arknights storyline that takes the story to her home nation, Victoria.
  • Queen Incognito: She is the heiress to the throne of Victoria who has been exiled and living in hiding in Rhodes Island.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: Her lore and profile reference some characters from the Arthurian Legend. In relation to this, she is named after the Siege Perilious, the vacant seat at the Round Table. It is also derived from the Old French word "sege", which refers to a "seat".
  • Spam Attack: Her talent allows her to gain SP when an enemy in the four cardinal tiles is killed, which is... exactly the area in which her second skill takes effect. This thus allows her, with a consistent stream of enemies, to spam her second skill like it's nothing. This, however, is different from other skills with charges since with her talent, Siege can continuously generate SP. She will never reach the so-called 'SP-Lockout' (the point where an operator is unable to gain or be granted SP to) and she is the only one to do so. In Layman's terms: Siege will gain SP once something dies in the four cardinal tiles around her, regardless of who made the kill and regardless of the current state of her skill (if she has already got 3 charges).
  • Spanner in the Works: Unbeknownst to everyone (except the Sanguinarch, who caught a whiff of her royal blood, but refused to tell anyone for his own amusement) in Theresis's Military Commission, Siege is the single biggest threat to Theresis's plans as the rightful heir to the Victorian throne as Alexandrina Victoria and thus has the potential not only to wield the "Sighs of Kings" but turn the nobility and populace of the entire country he has under his thumb against him and the Court of Kazdel.
  • Sweet Tooth: Subverted. Her lollipops are actually sour, since felines basically cannot taste sweet.
  • Vague Age: One of the few aversions in this game that generally tries to avoid giving any specific number to characters who aren't centuries old. Narration in Chapter 10 specifies that Siege was three when she first was brought into Londinium's tunnels from the royal palace to survey the specific passages exclusive to royalty like her and that it's been over 20 years since then, which puts her as at least 23 years old.. Chapter 11 reveals that the execution of her father, and her subsequent escape through Londinium's tunnels, happened 26 years ago, which would make her at least 29.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Averted with the Glasgow Gang as Indra, Dagda and then Morgan got added as playable operators.
  • Wild Hair: Siege's hair is extremely poofy and unkempt, in order to emulate the look of a lion's mane.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: In her voice lines, she regularly reminisces about her hometown and is mournful that she'll likely never be able to return to it. Averted by the time of the second arc, which is all about reclaiming her homeland from Theresis's corruption.

"Code name Texas. I'm responsible for driving, moving cargo, and keeping our people safe. Try to get the mission briefings as concise as possible, please."

An operator from Penguin Logistics. She acts as the team's driver and liaison to Rhodes Island.

  • Action Initiative: Her Tactical Delivery talent increases starting DP by 1 (2 at Elite 2), effectively lowering the cost of the first unit deployed and providing a small but effective head start to a stage.
  • Animal Motifs: Texas wolves, as implied by her name. A crystallized example (symbolizing it being extinct in real life) also appears alongside Texas in her Elite 2 art. Interestingly, her grey hair, ears and tail fade into red in her E2 art, and the real Texas wolf was not grey, but reddish.
  • Anti-Air: Her second skill also hits aerial enemies in its range. This makes her one of the few Vanguards capable of dealing damage to aerial enemies.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: In her "Willpower" skin, she's wearing the suit she used to wear back when she was still part of a Siracusan famiglia. The trailer for "Il Siracusano" depicts Texas in said skin standing in front of her family's burning mansion.
  • Beware the Quiet Ones: She generally doesn't talk much and keeps to herself. Most people who have an idea about her past or her personality know it's in everybody's best interest to make sure she stays that way.
    • In Exusiai's second Operator Record, Texas mentions she was genuinely prepared to kill Mostima if she perceived her as a threat to Exusiai's way of life. To put things in perspective, Texas just casually threatened one of the most powerful casters on Terra right to her face without batting an eye.
  • Boring, but Practical: Her sole talent adds at maximum 2 extra DP to your starting DP. It doesn't improve her own skills or that of others in any kind of way like Bagpipe or SilverAsh do, but in high-end content with stages that rush you, Texas' presence granting you 2 extra DP may just be the difference between making or breaking it.
  • Bowdlerise: Per Word of Saint Paul, Texas is actually smoking cigarettes, not munching on Pocky sticks. Due to the ban on public smoking in China at the time of Arknights coming out, Huànxiàng Hēi Tù had to revise Texas' character in an attempt to make her design more compliant with the law, although her poses and sprite animations still very visibly depict her as a smoker. Outside of the game itself, Huànxiàng still consistently draws her with a smoke in her hand.
  • Confusion Fu: Texas' fighting style is described as "tempestuous". As in, it doesn't follow any single combat protocol or pattern known to anybody, therefore making her unpredictable and dangerous.
  • The Dreaded: Most of her fellow Penguin Logistics and Rhodes Island coworkers may not know about her past, but anybody in the Siracusan Mafia does, and greatly fear and respect her as a result. Even when she shows up completely unarmed to a Mafia warehouse, they're still freaked out.
  • Dual Wield: Her Elite 2 Art shows her now wielding two swords very much like Lappland. She doesn't actually gain another weapon in her combat sprites, however, due to the game's limitations.
  • Expy: Has a lot in common with Kazuma Kiryu, being legendary figures in the world of organized crime who formerly belonged to powerful families which no longer exist. She's also a stoic woman with a penchant for smoking and has a close relationship with an Idol Singer, to say nothing of her rival in Lappland being an Expy herself to Kiryu's own rival Goro Majima. Even her current job as the driver for Penguin Logistics is evocative of Kiryu's time as a taxi driver as he tries to put his past as a yakuza behind. The similarities between her and Kiryu become even more apparent in "Il Siracusano", which elaborates on her past in Siracusa.
  • Glass Cannon: Texas fits in the unofficial "Offensive" subcategory of Pioneer Vanguards along with units such as Vanilla and Scavenger, specializing in a higher ATK stat and a damaging S2. This makes her strong as an early hold against weaker mobs that rush you at the start of a stage as she'll kill them with little effort, but her lack of defense means she will quickly fold against elite enemies without support.
  • Hidden Depths: She may be a silent type, but her voice lines reveal some of her hobbies such as listening to Sora's songs while driving.
  • Laser Blade: It's never stated directly, but the blade of her swords is semi-translucent and appears to be emitted from the grip.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: A likely reason why she now wields dual swords instead of one in her Elite 2 Art. It's heavily implied that it's a sign that she stops holding back.
  • Mafia Princess: Her interactions with the Siracusan Mafia heavily infer that she and the Texas family were involved in the mafia lifestyle. Her Epoque skin further implies her status as a high ranking Mafia leader. She also casually admits to Exusiai in her Operator Record that she used to be a high ranking mafioso. "Il Siracusano" confirms this - she was a member of a Siracusan famiglia until they were decimated and leaving Texas as the only survivor.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Texas is notably built as a Glass Cannon, having an offensive second skill, a high ATK stat but average HP and DEF. Said second skill also makes her unable to passively generates DP, as it is a manual skill that attacks all enemies around her twice (including aerial enemies), stunning them and adding DP while doing so. This skill has the most effect when enemies are gathered around her but do not hurt her yet - luckily, it is over a relatively wide range.
  • Mysterious Past: Her fighting style, fur color, and very name suggests that she's related to the Texas family, a once-powerful clan that is now mostly forgotten. This is the extent that we know about her background. Even Rhodes Island's extensive intelligence network fails to dig up more info about her. Texas herself seems indifferent about this, preferring to not mention her past at all. Rhodes Island suspects she used to be a member of the mafia, and "Code of Brawl" mostly confirms this as several of the mafia antagonists comment how she's gone soft. Her Operator Record also features her talking to Exusiai about her being a former Mafia assassin, with her being regarded with fear and awe by the Mafia members who stuck around after the events of "Code of Brawl." This was eventually elaborated and expanded on in "Il Siracusano".
  • The Navigator: In Chapter 2, Texas was the one who discovered that there are infected Reunion members secretly hiding in the Lungmen slums, thus warning both the R.I. and the L.G.D. factions that there's a threat in that place.
  • Noodle Incident: Texas implies in her Operator record that she blew up the Terran version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, for an unspecified reason.
  • Oral Fixation: Texas is almost always seen with what looks to be a Pocky stick in her mouth. The instant she kills an enemy and exits combat, she will begin munching on it again.
  • One-Woman Army: The rumors and stories Siracusa Mafia members tell about her heavily imply that she single handedly destroyed entire Mafia families in her prime. Her personal Operator Record backs this up, with her all but outright saying to Exusiai that she's destroyed Mafia families and other Mafia groups in Lungmen being absolutely terrified of her.
  • Only Sane Woman: Texas is the most down-to-earth member of Penguin Logistics when put next to her more quirky companions. However she enjoys her life with her exaggerated and colorful friends.
  • Real Name as an Alias: Well, family name in her case. It's the name of a long gone mafia family that was rather powerful in their heyday.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm, collected Blue to either Lappland's or Exusiai's excitable Red.
  • The Rival: With Lappland in a way. Texas tries to avoid her as much as possible, while Lappland herself seems fixated on getting her "back to her old self." Furthermore if Texas is placed in the trading post with Lappland, they both give significant buffs to the room, but Texas loses morale at a significantly greater rate while Lappland loses morale at a significantly lower rate due to her Feud RIIC skill, unless she's given a second promotion and gains the Tacit Understanding RIIC skill, wherein having Exusiai in the trading post with them helps in countering that morale loss.
  • Running Gag: She frequently points out in "Code of Brawl" that Penguin Logistics is just supposed to be an ordinary Messenger group on the surface, so it's really weird that they keep getting entangled in gang wars.
  • The Spock: Of the Texas-Lappland-Exusiai trio in the Trading Post. She's annoyed by Lappland, resulting in increased productivity but also increased morale drain. However, when she's with Exusiai, her moral drain decreases.
  • The Stoic: She's quite and reserved. Although she claims that she's not hiding anything, she just has nothing to say.
  • Storm of Blades: Her second-skill, aptly named Sword Rain, causes blades to descend in an area around her, dealing Arts damage and stunning enemies hit by them. It's for this reason that she has the "Crowd-Control" tag attached to her name.
  • Sword Plant: This is how she triggers her Storm of Blades.
  • The Quiet One: The quietest member of Penguin Logistics.
  • Those Two Girls: She's often depicted alongside Exusiai. The duo are very close and understand each other to the point where they have a tacit understanding.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chocolate Pocky. It's not quite realistically safe, however, considering her race (see Bowdlerise above).
  • Tranquil Fury: Implied. While Texas hardly ever speaks or expresses much, her fighting style is described as "tempestuous".
  • Utility Party Member: Texas' stats aside from her ATK are pitiful, even with her 2-block and 5-star status. However, the amount of DP and the length of the stun she provides with her second skill is no joke, never mind that it is Arts damage. Her talent that adds initial DP allows one to get a head start they otherwise wouldn't get (especially when one wants to place down higher cost operators early on), so it is not at all uncommon to see her being brought but not deployed, or simply helidropped to benefit from the stun.
  • Willfully Weak: While working for Penguin Logistics, she doesn't use the full extent of her strength in battle. Her alternate Omertosa version is far more powerful and deals immense amounts of Arts damage on deployment, indicating that when she gets serious Texas can be a terrifying killing machine.

"I'm Vanilla, trainee Operator. Nice to meet you, Doctor."

A trainee from Blacksteel with an affinity for raising and protecting animals like Originium Slugs.

  • A Day in the Limelight: Her Operator Record is revealed to be how she acquired Puffball while on a mission to locate mutant Originium Slugs that attacked a village.
  • Country Mouse: She hails from an isolated tribe in Sargon which is utterly ignorant of modern civilization and technology. Even though Blacksteel International have educated her on many of the more common aspects of life, she's still caught off-guard by many mundane things, such as automatic doors.
  • Friend to All Living Things: She has great love for many things, but mostly animals of all shapes and sizes. This includes even the particularly icky ones that others are grossed out by, such as Originium snails.
  • Hopeless with Tech: She isn't into technology and equipment, and at one point, was startled by the automatic doors at the base.
  • Horned Humanoid: She has two small horns on the side of her head.
  • Mythical Motifs: Coming from the Vouivre race, she has some Wyvern traits, such as a tail.
  • Orwellian Retcon: One of her pets was originally named Biggie, until a later update changed it to Kuro. Said update also renamed the furniture item Biggie's New Home to Kuro's New Home.
  • Pointy Ears: They are visible even when partially covered by her hair.
  • Punny Name: She's a very basic Vanguard, and very accessible to beginners, but usually outclassed in late game. Or rather, she's a vanilla Vanguard.
  • Unusual Pets for Unusual People: Her side story in Stories of Afternoon reveals that she has a trio of Originium Slugs named Puffball, Tiny, and Kuro, plus a Sargon Desert Metal Crab named Stout.

  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His Elite 2 talent causes his and the wolfpack's attacks to ignore a portion of DEF on anything blocked by the wolfpack.
  • Badass Bureaucrat: He is introduced in "Il Siracusano" working in the il Ministero dei Lavori Pubblicinote  as a clerk, and has foiled multiple assassination attempts while working there.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Wears one plus a Badass Longcoat.
  • Berserk Button: The one aspect of Siracusan culture that Vigil remains adamant that should not change is its cuisine, and whenever Rhodes Island hosts an event with Siracusan cuisine, Vigil often gets personally involved t make sure all the recipes are followed to the letter.
  • Breaking Old Trends: He is the first male 6-star Vanguard.
  • Brought Down to Normal: After playing a part in destroying his own famiglia, Vigil lost all of his status as the heir of the Bellone family and now is nothing more than a regular Siracusan citizen. However, he prefers it this way.
  • Captain Morgan Pose: Strikes one in his Elite 2 art, with his left foot planted dramatically atop a chunk of broken stonework while his hand rests on the hilt of his sword.
  • Coat Cape: Wears his coat this way in his Elite 2 art. And he's quite fond of it too.
"Careful with the moisture-proofing! I hate the smell of rotting wood."
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: One thing that Vigil learned from the Columbian famiglia and appreciated is that money and incentives are often better ways to solve problems than outright violence. This is reflected by his RIIC base skills: his starting skill, Don Diplomacy, gives a +25% bonus to clue search speed when he's assigned to the Reception Room, a massive bonus for a 6-star Operator to possess.note  If raised to Elite 2, he gains the New City Trade skill, which provides a substantial boost to Trading Post efficiency that gets stronger as the Reception Room is upgraded. Capitalizing on either of these skills is a better use of Vigil than fielding him in combat, where his performance is fairly lackluster.
  • Dual Wielding: He holds two guns in his battle sprite, even though his basic attacks only have him using one. During his third skill, he uses them both.
  • Good Is Not Nice: One of his trust lines mentions that he's not afraid use nonviolent but underhanded techniques he learned from his Mafia days to get the job done.
  • Gratuitous Italian: Speaks Italian in his English voiceover.
Va benenote . Let's see if your plan is worthy of my work. (added to squad)
Chi morirà qui ogginote ? (enemy spawn)
Ah... Mi mancano le osterie di Siracusanote . Doctor, is the kitchen available right now? I can make something myself. (trust tap)
  • The Gunslinger: Dual wields a pair of pistols into combat.
  • Image Song: "Go My Way"
  • Like Brother and Sister: He and Penance cares a great deal about each other after she joined his famiglia, and she still nags him about staying up late after both of them joined Rhodes Island.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Remember the note about his archetype being able to fire their skills even if their summon isn’t on the field? Vigil's second skill is the exception on that rule as it makes his DP generation entirely reliant on the summon attacking, so this skill cannot be cast without it.
  • Ornamental Weapon: He carries a sword, but as he is a ranged tile Operator, he doesn't use it. Its value comes from being a heirloom inherited by his father.
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: He's evidently of this mindset, as his pistols visibly have cylinders.
  • Serious Business: He is very particular about the way Siracusan cuisine must be cooked, to the point of personally coming to supervise the chefs in the kitchen of Rhodes Island. The 123 Rhodes!? 4-koma comics also shows him shooting at the Doctor for attempting to eat Pasta with chocolate, a reference to the "Phantom & Crimson Solitaire" item "Wrath of Siracusans".
If you want to show respect to the Siracusans, then hire a proper Siracusan chef. The next time I see any "innovative Siracusan cuisine" out of your minions... Beh, let's just say somebody knows about your little office naps, and it'd be a shame if the beans got spilled on your beauty sleep. (talk after trust increase 1)
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Ever since he was young, Vigil always envisioned a Siracusa that was not ruled by the Mafia which is why he admired Penance.

Vigna, Vanguard Operator of Rhodes Island, is ready for combat with the lance in her hands.

Talents: Fierce Stabbing
Affiliation: Columbia
Race: Sarkaz
Birthday: December 12
Height: 142cm

"Excuse me, is this the office of the Doctor? Could you please tell the Doctor that I'm looking for—what? YOU'RE the Doctor? All right, then. Operator Vigna, reporting in!"

A hotheaded Sarkaz with an affinity for rock and roll.

  • Ace Custom: She had her lance purposely modified by the original manufacturer.
  • Chew Toy: If set as the Doctor's assistant, several lines imply that they like to tease her just a little - she'll protest receiving headpats due to her Height Angst, try to get out of helping them 'take care' of the health food snacks Hibiscus makes for them while complaining about the smell, and one of her Talk lines when her trust level is high enough indicates that sometimes they will ask her to help buy some mega-limited goods on time-limited shopping trips that she protests as being impossible (in amusing contrast to her usual Determinator nature).
  • Critical Hit: Upon reaching Elite 1, Vigna gains the Fierce Stabbing talent, which gives her a 10% chance while attacking to increase the damage of that attack by 60% (100% at Elite 2), and that chance increases to 30% as long as she has a skill active.
  • Determinator: Giving up is not in her dictionary. She even alludes it to "the show must go on" mentality when an entertainer like her accidentally messed up in a performance. This is why she uses such an impractical weapon, because she refuses to give up on mastering it.
  • Edible Theme Naming: Is named after Vigna angularis, known as the "red bean" in China.
  • Fantastic Racism: Coming from a lower class upbringing, Vigna has experienced the discrimination against Sarkaz firsthand which is why she is so outspoken and unruly.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Vigna wears red and black tights on her right and left legs respectively. Her Black Wave concert outfit has her wearing tights with different lengths for the left and right pieces.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's got long crimson locks to go with her passionate, and sometimes aggressive, nature.
  • Height Angst: Implied. Her response to being tapped when collecting Trust is her fearing that headpats will make her shorter than she already is.
Vigna: D-Don't pat me on the head! It might make me shorter!
  • Horned Humanoid: Vigna has red horns that even pierce her cap. In her Elite 2 artwork, they're longer.
  • Jerkass to One: "Jerkass" is a bit of a stretch, but Vigna is a lot harsher towards the Doctor than her fellow operators, due to the belief that as a leader, they need to be hard on themselves and command a strict discipline from their soldiers.
  • Metal Head: She's an avid rock and roll fan and is an amateur guitarist herself. She gets a costume for performances in her Black Wave skin, which even includes a base animation of her pulling out her guitar to play a few riffs and pose dramatically with.
  • Mythical Motifs: Demon, due to her Sarkaz race. Vigna even has a black-red color scheme and a pointed weapon to go along with her looks. A demon-like red creature also appears in her Elite 2 artwork.
  • Never Bareheaded: All her costumes come with a nice hat, always with her horns poking through them. Her default outfit(s) come with a neat little black cap that compliments her jacket and riveted/studded armor pieces, her Casual Vacation beachwear includes a cute straw hat (which has a rubber duck perched on it in her sprite animations), and her Black Wave concert outfit has a beret-like cap with some shiny bling festooning it.
  • Not in My Contract: Her line after being promoted:
"Hmm, this smell... is this the lunchbox Hibiscus brought you? You want me to eat it for you? No way! This... this wasn't in my job description!"
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: She's rather short at 1.42m tall, but is strong enough to manhandle some rather tall security guards during the Obsidian Festival event, comparing it to fighting Originium Slugs due to being unimpressed by their lack of prowess. She's also able to shove open locked doors with brute strength. It's possible part of this strength comes from her Sarkaz heritage. During gameplay, this is reflected in her above-average attack power, which her talent and skills amplify tremendously. Her Talent has a fixed chance of increasing the damage of her next attack, and this activation rate increases when her skill is active. Her second skill slows down her attack speed, but greatly raises her attack power. Combined, her skill and talent after all promotions can easily raise her attack power over 2000.
  • Pointy Ears: She has two long ears that point downwards.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization: She uses a lance as a weapon. Her model of lance is unpopular due to being very impractical, and Vigna has put a lot of work into training to use it effectively and modifying it.

  • Support Party Member: As is usual from his archetype. He trades being able to attack for being able to generate DP and, similar to Myrtle, being able to heal allies. His healing however is not limited to Vanguards but rather concentrates itself around the allies standing in his near vicinity, with the added bonus that allies who face the same way as he does also gain increased ASPD when they're healed. This is usually not much of an issue because he doesn't attack or block during his skill, the way he faces also doesn't matter, so he can be placed facing the same way as the operators who do attack around him.

Skills: Stabbing Lance, Lance Charge
Talents: Forward March
Affiliation: Pinus Sylvestris Knightclub - Kazimierz
Race: Kuranta
Birthday: August 3
Height: 158cm

"Wild Mane' Iwona, I'm a Knight from Pinus Sylvestris Knightclub. Sona says this place does good by the Infected? Sounds cool."

A hotblooded Kuranta knight of the Pinus Sylvestris, abandoned by her family for her infection before being rescued by P.S. after starting a brawl in the arena lounge.

  • Animal Motifs: Horses, matching her Kuranta race.
  • Blown Across the Room: Her second skill will cause her attacks to shove the opponent in the target direction, making her one of the few non-Specialists capable of shifting a target.
  • Determinator: In Near Light, she picks a fight with the Lazurites and beaten to the point of nearly dying of blood loss twice, and each time she just gets up and proclaims she's not done yet.
  • Dumb Muscle: While she's plenty intelligent, Wild Mane just simply can't be bothered getting too intellectual if it involves too much thought or gets in the way of a good fight. Her friends tease her that they're surprised she even knows how to read at all.
  • Height Angst: During her medical assessment, she's devastated to find out that she's a centimeter shorter than Flametail, to the point where she asks her medical staff to re-measure her three more times. She instead settles for trying to find some evaporated milk to drink.
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Encouraged with her talent Forward March, and especially if you plan on using Stabbing Lance, which gives her a significant ASPD buff when deployed.
  • Hot-Blooded: Impatient, hotheaded, and loves fighting. In fact, her first meeting with Pinus Sylvestris was when the latter bailed her out after she got into a brawl with some other knights who insulted her.
  • Jousting Lances: She wields a lance, to match her knight theming.
  • Knight Errant: She's actually descended from a well known campaign knight family, though due to her infection, she has to make a living as a competition knight now.
  • Lightning Bruiser: How her fighting style is described as, since it's all about hitting the enemy with a quick but powerful charge attack.
  • Parental Abandonment: She was disowned from her family after she got Infected. However, she doesn't think too much on or let it get her down.
  • Reduced Mana Cost: Her talent reduces the DP cost of undeployed Guard operators by 1 when she's deployed. At Elite 2, this can stack up to 5 times if she's repeatedly deployed.
  • Temporary Online Content: She's the welfare operator of Near Light, and will be unobtainable once the event rerun concludes. No longer the case when Near Light was added to the die story section of the game.
  • Wrench Wench: In her Epoque skin. It makes some sense as she was the one to repair Justice Knight.

Everyone admires how much effort she puts into training.
Yato, Vanguard Operator of Rhodes Island, will fight on the battlefield to give the squad the upper hand.
Rarity: ★★
ID: No. 502
Subclass: Pioneer
Tags: Starter
Skills: N/A
Talents: Fast Redeployment
Affiliation: Op Team A4 - Rhodes Island
Race: Oni
Birthday: May 14
Height: 161cm

"Vanguard Yato here. Are you the one I'm protecting?"

The leader of Rhodes' A4 team, a quiet Oni woman with an unknown background and a fleeting presence.

  • Gratuitous French: In battle, she sometimes shouts "En garde!"
  • Hit-and-Run Tactics: Level her up enough, and she gains the Fast Redeployment talent, which cuts down on her redeployment time by 30 seconds. This, coupled with her low rarity, her status as a Starter Mon, and low DP cost makes her viable as a budget Executor Specialist until you get Gravel or one of the higher rarity units in said category.
  • Informed Attribute: Yato has a listed combat experience of 8 years under her belt, and is actually one of the more seasoned members of Rhodes Island. In gameplay terms, she's one of the weakest units available, sporting no skills and a low growth cap. In fact, her seniority isn't even taken into account when recruiting, where she's a Starter, and not a Senior Operator. Can also double as Gameplay and Story Segregation.
  • The Leader: Of Rhodes Island Op Team A4.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Unlike other starter units, Yato is very hard to categorize (at least until Dossoles Holiday, which officially groups her as a Pioneer Vanguard), due to her lack of skills, which are typically used to determine which subclass a Vanguard belongs to. She neither regenerates DP nor gain it back when scoring a kill, therefore fitting into none of these categories. Her main use is simply as an extra low-cost operator deployed to stall or nudge certain enemies instead of doing the things Vanguards are known to do, thus making her unique among her class for this reason. That said, if levelled up enough, she can gain the Fast Deployment talent, which cuts down the cooldown time before having to deploy her again. This can make her play like a typical Executor Specialist, albeit a really weak one.
  • Mysterious Past: Nobody knows any details about her past. Most people aren't even aware she exists to begin with.
    • Noir Corne's Operator Record implies a few details through a story he tells Barty, Chard, and Dylan: she clashed with him when both were tasked by the heads of their respective clans to kill a young girl from a third clan, and both ended up deserting their clans together after letting their target go.
  • Mythical Motifs: She's from the Oni race, her weapon and Ninja-like design are hints that she's from the Far East.
  • Ninja: Her character design seems to follow this archetype, and her bio lists her place of origin as somewhere in the Far East. She can play like one too with her Fast Redeployment talent allowing her to hop around the battlefield as needed. Coupled with her race, and this makes her an Oni ninja.
  • The Nondescript: Yato is so quiet and reserved that most people don't notice her, or are even aware she's a member of Rhodes Island.
  • One-Way Visor: She wears a black visor that conceals her eyes.
  • Ship Tease: One of her lines mentions how she wants to be the Doctor's "guardian", "now and forever". That being said, she also seems to have a history with Noir Corne. It's unclear what the extent of their relationship is, but Yato always seems to deflect the question whenever it is brought up, and Noir Corne clearly cares about her.
    • In Noir Corne's Operator Record, Dylan thinks Noir Corne's story (implied to be how he and Yato met and ran away together from both their clans) went from horror to romance, but Noir Corne downplays it.
  • Situational Sword: She's generally a weak two-star character with no skills outclassed by other operators. Once she gets her Fast Redeployment talent, she can be played like a weak Executor Specialist, but is still inferior to actual specialists. However, because she's still classified as a vanguard, she can be used in any map or challenge that forbids specialists, giving the player access to a fast-redeploy operator where they normally aren't supposed to have one.
  • Starter Mon: She's part of your starting roster from the moment you gain access to the Home menu (alongside Amiya, Noir Corne, and Rangers), as one of your first Vanguards.
  • Weakened by the Light: She makes it clear multiple times that she does not like sunlight since her skin is sensitive to it, and prefers either working in the base or going on night missions. Her codename is spelt as 'night blade', seemingly referencing this.

Zima, Vanguard Operator of Rhodes Island, will give the squad a tactical advantage with her physical strength at the start of every battle.
Rarity: ★★★★★
ID: No. 115
Subclass: Pioneer (Defensive)
Tags: DP-Recovery, Support
Skills: Charge γ, Ursus's Roar
Talents: Spearheader
Affiliation: U.S.S.G - Empire of Ursus
Race: Ursus
Birthday: July 29
Height: 162cm

"I'm Zima, leader of the Independent Ursus Student Union. I can make do without one, but my comrades need a place to call home. Let's cut the crap, gimme a job to do. I know lodging ain't free in this place."

The leader of the Ursus Student Self-Governing Group, a group of students that banded together to escape the Catastrophe that overwhelmed Chernobog. She's been wandering around ever since, only joining up with Rhodes Island to provide shelter for her comrades.

  • Actress Allusion: Definitely not the first time Ami Koshimizu had voiced a Hot-Blooded schoolgirl with a red streak in her hair, and it is also not the first time she voices a rude woman who is loyal to her allegiance with a red theme color.
  • Animal Motifs: Bears, due to her Ursus race. A roaring brown bear also appears in the background of her Elite 2 artwork.
  • Appropriated Appellation: She was nicknamed "General" derisively by another gang because Ursus sees generals as incompetent and untrustworthy officials but she rolled with it and they started calling her that out of respect after beating all the other groups.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Among Ursus operators, she is the straightest example of this, being the most aggressive and physical-combat-focussed of them.
  • Beneath the Mask:
    • Despite her tough hardass attitude, she does actually care about people, which is the reason she picked fights so often with people to get them to stop bullying others.
    • Her greatest fear deep down is that Istina and her fellow students all loathe Zima for triggering the second fire that really made the Chernobog school situation go FUBAR.
  • Blood Knight: As her profile puts it, she has an enthusiasm for fighting and violence.
  • Childhood Friends: With Istina. They used to be neighbors, until Istina moved away.
  • Delinquents: She has a penchant for getting into fights due to her violent nature and leads her own gang (and later, the Ursus Student Self-Governing Group during the Chernobog Incident).
  • Hardcore Techno: Like any gopnik worth their weight in vodka and sunflower seeds, Zima loves listening to hardbass. While the stereo she carries around in her first skin allowed for some speculation, she outright spelled it out in "Heart of Surging Flame".
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Despite her appearance as a delinquent, Zima is a rather avid reader with interests that span a wide range of topics.
    • The "Children of Ursus" event reveals she and other Chernobog survivors have many traumas from the fall of Chernobog. She's very in denial of what's happened to most people as her subconscious manifests dead students only as floating uniforms and she brushes off blood as ketchup.
  • It's All My Fault: It's implied that Zima has some hidden guilt over accidentally destroying the noble students' food store during the Fall of Ursus, which led to everyone fighting everyone else over what little scraps were left. While she never said anything that implies this, the fact Zima spared Rosa despite the latter being the leader of the noble students (and, as is revealed during "Children of Ursus", the one who gave the higher-class students the go-ahead to steal food from the "commoners") indicates that she is aware of her responsibility for things going FUBAR.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She's quite rude and violent, but Zima is extremely loyal to her friends and won't hesitate to stand up for them if they're in trouble.
  • The Leader: She's a natural leader, taking charge of a delinquent gang while she was in school, leading the Ursus Student Self-Governing Group to safety in the midst of the Chernobog Incident, and her profile mentions she's currently in charge of a Vanguard squad. And this is reflected in her abilities:
    • As a DP-Recovery operator, she has access to the Charge γ skill, which instantly gives 12 DP.
    • Her second skill, Ursus's Roar, not only increases both the attack and defense of her Vanguard teammates but also allows them to gain 1 extra DP per kill while granting 9 DP over the duration of the skill.
    • Her talent, Spearheader already decreases her DP cost by 1; at Elite 2, it decreases the cost of all Vanguards by 1 DP if she's part of the squad.
  • Meaningful Name: Means "winter" in Russian. Combine this with her other nickname of "General" and it would supplement her title of "General Winter", the Red Baron for Russia's harsh temperature.
  • Mook Commander: Zima's E2 talent Spearheader reduces the cost of other Vanguards while she's in the squad. Her Ursus's Roar buffs other Vanguards' Atk and Def while active in addition to generating DP and giving bonus DP per kill. If assigned to Dormitories, she increases other Operators' Morale regeneration. Fitting, for someone who's nicknamed General.
  • Never My Fault: If the mission goes belly-up, Zima will be quick to denigrate her teammates and command them to scram. Supposedly, the quote is more directed at the player than her actual teammates, according to the Chinese translation, however in English the line means what it meansnote
Zima: Man, you guys suck. Get lost!
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: While trapped in her school in Chernobog, Zima attempted to sneak into the nobles' headquarters to capture their leader Rosa and hold her hostage. However, she accidentally started a fire which destroyed the entire headquarters, including the last of the school's food supply. This kicked off a period of mass anarchy as the remaining students began murdering each other over what little food was left.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: There's a strong implication that the reason she spared Rosa during the Fall of Ursus is because Zima ultimately realized how similar the two were. Beyond acting as leaders for their respective sides, both were partially responsible for things going to hell due to misguided efforts to help others - while Rosa allowed the noble students to steal the commoners's food to prevent the former group from descending into anarchy, Zima accidentally destroyed the food store while trying to kidnap Rosa to use as a bargaining chip for her faction.
  • Odd Friendship: While Zima will deny it, she has this was Rosa. The two were from different social classes and were on opposite sides of the Peterheim Middle School Incident, with both having plenty of reasons to resent one another, but despite this, they're each The Confidant for the other, and both assure the other that You Are Better Than You Think You Are. Children of Ursus indicates that this is because they both feel responsible for the situation in Peterheim spiraling out of control — Rosa allowed her classmates to horde all of the commoner students' food to prevent the nobles from descending into chaos, while Zima accidentally destroyed said food while trying to kidnap Rosa as a bargaining chip, causing the situation to devolve into a free for all.
  • Red Baron: According to Istina, Zima has the title of "Winter General".
  • Sailor Fuku: Apparently this is what Ursin students wear in school. Zima's outfit is largely similar to that of Gummy's, only in a different color, so the only Ursin student who doesn't wear this is Istina.
  • Stone Wall: While her raw attack power is rather lacking compared to the likes of other Pioneer Vanguards such as Texas and Siege, Zima has the highest base DEF out of all Vanguard operators of comparable levels and max trust.
  • Stronger Than They Look: A given, considering she's an Ursus; this is reinforced by the fact that she can pick up a nearby fire hydrant and use it to smash enemies under the chin with it in her Marthe skin... and one-handed no less.
  • Support Party Member: Zima's kit is focused around buffing Vanguards (including herself), with her second skill that boosts Vanguards' ATK, DEF and DP generation and her talent that passively decreases the DP Cost of Vanguards when she's in the team.
  • Tsundere: Subtle, but there are shades of this to her. While Zima is abrasive and rude towards everyone, but especially the Doctor, Nearl commented at one point during the "Children of Ursus" event that her hostility isn't genuine, and Zima herself seems to subscribe to the idea of instinctively attacking those close to herself, just like a typical tsundere.
  • You Can't Go Home Again: As a native of Chernobog, Zima ended up joining Rhodes Island after the city was destroyed by Reunion. Her third Trust line indicates that she's decided to settle on Rhodes as her new home.
"Huh? Chernobog? Who'd ever wanna go back to that miserable city? Rhodes Island is where our new lives begin. So, let's keep it tight, Doctor."
