openEdit Warring
I think I might have engaged in edit warring.
I noticed that in the page for Artistic License – Politics someone decided to change a mention from Spain to Ireland. Which I thought was a really arbitrary change, so I reverted it, but then I thought I should bring that here, just to be sure.
Edited by ElBuenCuateopenDo these have any reason to be commented out?
I found a couple commented-out entries in the Yes, Your Grace character page. I could see why they would be commented out if they were zero-context examples, but they aren't as far as I can tell. Given the nature of the information in both cases, I'm getting the impression somone used the commenting out as some sort of spoiler markup. Is it okay to uncomment these?
(Ivo)
- "Well Done, Son" Guy: The good ending reveals that he never meant to kill his father, and actually wanted to win his approval.
(Beyran)
- Good All Along: While he has a Dark and Troubled Past as a highwayman, Eryk's desperate promise of Lorsulia's hand in marriage inspired Beyran to better himself and become a beacon of hope for his people, leading a group of refugees across the border into Davern. Unfortunately for him, Eryk sees him as an invading warlord and seeks to rally the nobles to oppose him
openWall of Text
What exactly constitutes a wall of text? Is there a guideline for that? I like to summarize but my edits can be verbose, which has rankled other editors.
openWhy do we have Informed Wrongness?
It feels redundant to Strawman Has a Point, which this is pretty much The Same, but More Specific to that. It really only adds more unessesary complaining and tropers mixing up the two reactions.
openShould I use this video example? (It's too similar to an existing one) Live Action TV
I was planning on using this scene from Two and a Half Men for Volleying Insults (not this particular video, as I have a version of a better quality and can cut it to fit the allotted 2:30 time limit).
While I know that tropes can have more than one video example, this one is a bit too similar to one video example already posted called "The Alphabet Game" from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I feel like posting the Two and a Half Men scene would be a bit redundant.
Thoughts?
open"The Reason You Suck" Speech
On the Atop the Fourth Wall (at least I'm certain it had one) and History of Power Rangers pages, the pages for "The Reason You Suck" Speech are not there anymore. Why is that? Was it an issue with them not being long enough to warrant the pages? If they were removed, were they transferred to sandboxs?
openGarfield Website is No More Print Comic
Garfield and U.S. Acres
Since Paws, Inc. was bought out by Viacom last year, Viacom as of yesterday have shut down garfield.com that was in use since 1996 leaving behind two links (one to Nickelodeon and the other to the Go Comics mirror).
All of the garfield.com links in the main Garfield comic pages (including audience reaction pages) along with the cross-wicks need to be updated to point the links to the Go Comics mirror.
Unfortunately US Acres does not have a mirror and cannot be accessed anymore outside the Internet Archive. Any missing comics not archived may have to have their links purged from the US Acres articles via Weblinks Are Not Examples .
The Garfield flash games may have been archived on other sites so any links to them may need to point to the sites that have them saved instead of garfield.com.
There might be other matters, but these are the three main ones I'd figure to bring up here.
openBlank review for the last of us 2
In The Last of Us Part II, there's a blank review by Mareon.
open A "Do We Have This One?" Question (military/warfare/antagonist tropes)
Okay. So I was writing a short story and I was trying to research some of the plot points on this site and couldn't find anything that seemed like a good match.
Basically, in this situation, there WAS a government, but it no longer exists due to an apocalyptic war. There is an isolated community. One day,non-local characters show up, in an antagonist role, who CLAIM to be The Remnant, except that's a lie to justify them assuming authority over the locality or making a demand of the locals. They are simply using invoking the previous authority for their own purposes. Which also means this doesn't seem to fit Renegade Splinter faction either. Or does it? Is it a borderline example of either? Or is there another trope I'm missing.
I wasn't sure if this was covered under The Remnant or Renegade Splinter Faction or if it maybe should be split. Not sure what it could be called.
I think this might have been a plotline on "Jericho" also but I don't remember that show well, they might have been Private Military Contractors.
openNo Title Western Animation
Am I allowed to remove WM Gs that I added myself? I have a WMG I made here that I'm not proud of anymore and I'd like to remove it from the page.
WMG in question.◊ Proof that I originally made it.◊
Edited by funi_banananopenEgregious Unintentionally Sympathetic example? Western Animation
- Applejack in "Hearthbreakers". The whole episode is supposed to be about her learning that she was being too closed minded about Pinkie's family and their Hearth Warming traditions, to the point where even her own family worn her that she shouldn't be interfering. However this glosses over the fact that the Pie family can easily be accused of the exact same thing, seeming to expect the Apples to follow their traditions without question and never allowing an alternative point of view. In fact, Applejack was the only one who did try and embrace the other's way, forcing herself to eat their rock soup when the rest of her family only complained.
This reads like a disguised Unintentionally Unsympathetic entry. It dosen't even tell us how Applejack ends up being sympathetic, just that everyone else around her isn't.
openWhere can I propose a new Trope idea
Is there a specific place for that, or such I just go straight to the Launch Pad? Just want to make sure, I do it right.

openThe Last of Us Part II YMMV
Just letting you guys know that The Last of Us Part II is proving to be a divisive entry, someone already put The Scrappy despite the game not being out for 24 hours (and takes 20+ to actually play) with an unsubstantiated rumor/fan theory, not sure if needs a lock for now but maybe just needs to be looked at from time to time to avoid the inevitable Edit War.
Edited by MegaJopen Lock On YMMV.TheLastOfUs2
I would suggest doing a lock on YMMV.The Lastof Us Part II and a clean up knowing about the leak that happened a month ago and maybe fixing anything.
Edited by WhirlRXopen Tropineasily
Let's not beat around the bush. We've all seen their name pop up a ridiculous amount of times in ATT, often for misusing YMMV, edit warring, and generally seeming to not fully grasp how the wiki works. Just tonight I discovered they randomly edited the Ensemble Dark Horse example on Square Peg Round Trope to include false, never-established rules about The Scrappy; more on that here.
Basically, they seem to be consistently causing trouble, and this is without doing a deep-dive into their editing history to dig up more dirt. Most often, they seem to just misunderstand YMMV concepts and how they work and will edit war if something is deleted.

The page Characters.Harry Potter Hogwarts Teachers contains other staff besides just professors. I'm thinking of moving the content over to Characters.Harry Potter Hogwarts Staff. Any objections?
openAdding a picture to a page
I recently created a page for the '70s lawyer series Petrocelli and have a picture of the cast I'd like to add to the page. How do I go about doing this? Thanks in advance for any help.
Edited by Clevelandrox
It's not a real work so I'm not sure if you need to italicize its name, or put it in quotes, or what.
