openSitcom Character Archetypes Live Action TV
All of the examples on the Sitcom Character Archetypes page appear to be Zero-Content Examples. Is there a reason for this that I'm missing?
Edited by indigoJayopenUploading entire works to video
Got a question about the new video uploads.
Is it kosher to upload an entire work? I'm thinking of several Pro ZD videos. His videos are 20 to 30 seconds long, so we've had a few uploaded that are basically, the entire video. (Obvious Judas and Cerebus Syndrome)
openAbout the Atoner
If a character wants to make up for one or more terrible things they did, but their deeds were so heinous and so many in number that people reject their attempts for that reason(s), and if the character realized that their misdeeds were so many and so severe that they may never get their atonement, what form of playing with this trope would that be? I think it might be a deconstruction in that if a person’s done so many terrible things, then there’s no way for them to ever be forgiven. But then again, I also think it might be playing it for drama.
Here’s an example: Sasuke Uchiha from Naruto killed members of a nation’s military (the Iron Country samurai), attempted to kidnap Killer Bee, the relative of a village leader, and allied himself with a known criminal and later a terrorist organization. He’s committed murder, Mind Rape, attempted kidnapping, and high treason, and now post-Kaguya he’s trying to make up for all of that. If wherever he went people rejected his attempts at atonement - denying him food and lodging and generally treating him as persona non grata - and he realized people would never forgive him because of how bad his actions were and felt/thought that the sheer number and severity of all his past misdeeds were so great that he would never fully atone for them in his lifetime, what form of playing with the Atoner would that be?

What media would the Twisted Princess series go under? It's fan-art with stories attached to it. Art.Twisted Princess, Fanfic.Twisted Princess, or Webcomic.Twisted Princess?

Underlord Z continues to make indentation mistakes, even after being sent a notifier. Here's their latest violation:

openEtiquette of Taking Charge in a Small Article Videogame
Hello,
I've been a trafficker on the site for a bit before finding small ways I could add to articles, whether it be fixing small mistakes I can find, or adding a few new tropes to not very well-known series.
The page for the video game Walking On A Star Unknown is sparse and had a bit of weird grammar (I did a little bit of editing myself for some wording, as well as adding a few tropes, an image, and a quote- both very general ones from the translator's site). I am interested in taking more liberty and adding a character page, as well as moving tropes that fit characters from the main page to simplify and improve the article.
Since it is quite a small, not yet too-popular game, I assume it would be alright for me to take charge with this? I am not too sure on the etiquette of making large improvements without prior consulting to a larger audience myself, and if I have already stepped over the line by adding a photo and quote, I admit fault (and am more than willing to change it myself if there are any issues.)
In addition, is it preferred that I edit in chunks, or in one or two larger edits? My flow is currently to add bits and pieces at a time, though I could always change this to be one large edit if it is more convenient.
Apologies that this is so long and in depth, I didn't think more background info would hinder anything, I hope. Thank you! Papurika
openMemes/FightingGameCommunity
So I went to Fighting Game Community and i went to the Memetic Mutation page and i noticed that the page is not indexed.
So I'm gonna ask which sub-page section i put it on there as tried to put either to the Real Life or Video game sections but called it quits so let me know thank you very much.
Edited by DragonKent17openFanfic/OneBigSmash-yFamily
One Big Smash-y Family is in dire need of assistance. There are ZCEs out the wazoo, nearly the entire page is spoiler tagged, and worst of all, that's not a custom title, it was actually created with a hyphen. I'd fix and transport it myself, but I plan on reading the fic and don't want to be spoiled. I'm also not sure if mods can actually cut hyphen pages or not.
openAstral Chain Videogame
With the game being released tomorrow I wanted to add some more tropes to the Astral Chain page from recent trailers but it's locked. It's not in the list yet so I don't know why it's been locked or who's running it. Anyone know?
openMeme clarification to avoid EditWar Videogame
I removed some Memes on the Fire Emblem: Three Houses page because they were not memes that originated from the game and were not really fitting for it. Namely these:
- Speaking of JoJo, the fact that Takehito Koyasu voices Seteth (and female Byleth's romantic option), DIO memes were bound to happen:
Seteth: Oh? You’re approaching me? Instead of running away, you’re coming right to me? Byleth: I can’t marry you without getting closer. Seteth: Ho ho! Then come as close as you like.
- It's now common for commenters imagining Seteth going "WRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" in the background if you S-Supported Flayn. Which is fitting for him since he's really her father.
- Speaking of JoJo, the fact that Takehito Koyasu voices Seteth (and female Byleth's romantic option), DIO memes were bound to happen:
- Looking cool Byleth!/Go to sleep, Byleth! Explanation Cassandra Lee voices Sothis in the dub of the game, and comparisons to Morgana (whom Cassandra also voices) have skyrocketed. It doesn't help that many people say Three Houses feels like a Persona game, or that Sothis is Byleth's companion the same way Morgana is to Joker.
- "You Are My Child Now." Explanation Line originally spoken by Garon now depicting Byleth as The Assimilator, draining every other house of all its students. Especially the adorable ones.
AK 47 Productions readded them without a reason. I wanted to verify if there is really any sort of standards for memes for certain works where it needs to be from that or based around it? These are memes from other works and not specifically from this work.
openEdit war on Dr. Stone
On August 4th, Hutar added this example to Dr. STONE:
- Anthropic Principle: The manga chooses to forget that Japan has more than a few nuclear power plants that would heavily irradiate the much of where the setting takes place thus making the story impossible.
A few days later, on the 9th the example was deleted by Occidensill with the edit reason "Aside from the premise being faulty, none are near at least the initial locations."
On the 20th, Hutar added the example again, stating "Doesnt matter if it isnt near the inital locations. It would be spread by the wind and the power plants themselves would continue to emit tons and tons of radiation for far longer than 3,700 years. That radiation would also get absorbed into the trees, water etc. which will then spread it even further.". At this point, they're Edit Warring since they've re-added an example that was deleted without discussing it.
On the 25th, Hidden Windshield removed the example and brought it to the discussion page (what should have happened from the start), though they didn't mention this in their edit reason so perhaps Hutar didn't notice it was being discussed.
And today, on the 29th, Hutar added the example back for the third time without discussing it.
openCut trope
Our Bugbears Are Scarier was cut but the links are being commented out as opposed to deleted. Should they be deleted? Or are they being saved until it's re-launched?
openHow exactly do I "Get Known"? Live Action TV
I've spent the past week creating and tending to the new works page Sherman's Showcase. I think I've done an okay job, adding at least 60 tropes, though I will admit I'm not certain I've correctly chosen some tropes. Anyway, all that's really missing is a picture. How do I get to where I can upload one as the Images in Wiki Pages page suggests?
Edited by TimidObserveropenDinogal95
I really don't like reporting tropers this early, but Dinogal95 created a bunch of Recap and Character pages with improper formatting, including Character pages for CNN and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, which...yeah.
I've already sent those Character pages to the Cutlist and sent notifiers for them.
Edited by ArctimonopenLinking Mary Sue
In Youjo Senki, there's a Character Called Mary Sue and was deliberately named after the term by Word of God. The term Mary Sue is listed in a sentence but can i separate it so the flame symbol wont show?
openFolder names
I was just wondering if maybe there should be a standardized folder and page name for fanfiction et al. Because as far as I've seen, there's nothing of the sort, especially for subpages, and that has got to be unnecessarily confusing.
Edited by nombretomado
I came across Characters.Archipelago Exodus during our RP Cleanup effort; I'll be doing a clean-up of the page soon, but it does contain something unusual- a list of bookmarks. This is a function listed in our Text-Formatting Rules (Anchor Point under Special Markup), and it works despite the red links making it seem like it wouldn't, but it's not a function I've ever actually seen around the wiki before.
My first instinct was to get rid of them because they don't seem strictly necessary, and the list of redlinks is rather ugly-looking. But do we have any actual ruling on what should be done with them?
