As seen in the Do we have a project to disambig works? Ask The Tropers, there are many works pages that seem to need disambigs, by virtue of sharing names and having no differentiation.
This thread is for the discussion and listing of what to do about such pages.
See here for a list of needed disambigs.
The List
- Film.The Lost World
- Series.Utopia
- Series.Kidnapped (2006 NBC Cop Show) (20 wicks)
- Series.The Street
- VideoGame.Star Wars Battlefront
- VideoGame.Star Wars Battlefront II
- WesternAnimation.Fantasia
- WesternAnimation.Max Steel
Similar Issues
- Then there is pages like The Host which is for the Korean film but has a bunch of wicks referring to the adaptation of The Host.
- Ransom: YMMV.Ransom only has Film entries, but Characters.Ransom is trying to be a disambig to Characters.Ransom Film and Characters.Ransom TV... Trivia.Ransom needs to be split.
- Film.Deadlands is conflicting with the Tabletop Game. Maybe move to its redirect, Film. The Dead Lands?
- Series. The Untouchables: It's holding multiple versions in there...

How would I go about creating the page "Black Comedy (Theatre)" to replace my page Black Comedy? I'm just stuck on how to get the brackets in the page name. Is it just a Wiki Words edit of Black Comedy Theatre?

"The only thing which is certain, is that something will happen".I thoguht we don't prefer to disambiguate via medium (I assume this is to get out of Main.Black Comedy). I would do Theatre.Black Comedy Peter Shaffer or Theatre.Black Comedy 1965
That's correct. Don't duplicate the namespace as disambiguation unless you have no other option.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I recently created a page for the video game Thor: God of Thunder and preemptively added a "2011" to it to separate it from the Jason Aaron comic of the same name.
However, since the comic came out one year after the game and is therefore not the first work to have that title, should it be changed to Thor: God of Thunder (2012) to better disambiguate it?

Might as well. Neither is an adaptation of the other (both are separate versions of Marvel's Thor as a whole), so both should be disambiguated.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.A few years ago, I created the page for the comic Aria that has nothing to do with the more famous manga. Should I move it to Aria (1979) (year of the first publication in magazine) or Aria 1982 (release of the first volume)?
I'd go with Aria (1979) because that was when the comic was first published.
Macron's notesI much prefer 1979 for its debut year.
VideoGame.Overlord is the only thing using the base name. Do we go by Year like most things, or Overlord Series or something else?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576I remember we decided to not disambiguate that since it's for an entire series while the rest are individual works.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesWith Overlord 2012 getting a video game adaptation, that reasoning doesn't apply anymore.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. Those adaptations don't seem to share the name "Overlord", though, at least not by itself.
I moved Thor: God of Thunder to its new namespace and updated all the wicks, so hopefully I did everything right.
Looks great. Just one thing, it's the page title that was changed, not the namespace. The namespace in this case is ComicBook
I learned a series I follow, Beast Tamer And The Cat Girl is getting an Anime adaptation advertised in English under the title Beast Tamer.
Given the sheer genericness of this title would it be better to get ahead of the disambig race by moving content to LightNovel.Beast Tamer 2022 (or whatever year the LN actually started, I'd have to check)?
Edited by sgamer82 on Jun 10th 2022 at 8:31:26 AM
I haven't been able to find any other work named Beast Tamer.
CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesHence "get ahead of the race". I was honestly surprised we didn't have something called Beast Tamer already, given it seems a common enough phrase, so I wanted to get an additional opinion or two before making any big moves on whether it would be better to disambig now so it isn't a potential issue later.
Edited by sgamer82 on Jun 10th 2022 at 8:37:04 AM
I guess it's more common as episode titles, than work titles, its vagueness seems to work against it as a common title?
Episode: https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Beast_Tamer
But some English? works use it:

Gods And Generals... Are the film and book similar enough that we don't need to disambig??

Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576To answer the Beast Tamer question, we don't disambiguate unless there's an actual or inevitable collision, whether it be with a trope or another work.
And my concern is that there seems like there is an inevitable collision.
Again though I have been completely unable to find any other work named just Beast Tamer. Except for a really obscure book that might not even be called that in english.

CM Sandboxes, MB SandboxesIf it's just the anime that's titled Beast Tamer, then I would just make an Anime.Beast Tamer redirect to the light novel page. Wait until the light novels get a localization — if they do — to figure out what to do with the light novel page. It's possible for the anime adaption and the light novels to have different localized titles, as in the case of My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected (the anime was localized first, with the title My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU).
I'd do Music. The Game Rapper for Music. The Game
Or maybe just Music.Game (currently a redirect to Music. The Game), which isn't colliding with anything? His page says he "eventually dropped the "The" sometime in the early 2010s". But Wikipedia still uses "The Game". As does his official Facebook account. And his most recent album release uses "The Game" on the cover. And the media is still referring to him as The Game.
Okay yeah, I'd go with Music. The Game Rapper
