A place to talk about all released and upcoming movies without having to spoiler out anything unless someone is watching these films for the first time and posting in this topic about them. We can also talk about the DC shorts in these movies.

I don't know much about most of these, but I heard that Crisis on Two Earths was a rewrite of what was going to happen between the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited TV series. Are any of them supposed to be able to fit with anything else otherwise?

I've heard that Batman: Gotham Knight is supposed to take place in the Nolanverse; but I haven't seen that film, so I don't know how accurate that is.

[up]It was intended to be set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but it isn't actually canon.

When they started making it that was their intent.

Oh well, I still take taken-back intent into account!

I don't think there's anything in Gotham Knight that contradicts the Nolan continuity. Killer Croc's appearance in Knight even gets an indirect wink in Dark Knight Rises.

Apocalypse is a sequel to Public Enemies; Flashpoint Paradox leads into War, which leads into Throne of Atlantis; Batman vs. Robin and Bad Blood are both sequels to Son of Batman.

The only ones I've heard that are considered sub-par are Superman: Doomsday and Justice League: War, both for placing action above story and characterization. The best ones are subject to debate, especially depending on how you enjoyed the more experimental ones like New Frontier, Gotham Knight and Emerald Knights.

^ The main thing about Gotham Knight is not so much the story, which is pretty episodic and low key (Deadshot was a risky character to use, but it was safe to say Croc wouldn't be used in the Nolan movies), but the visualization was pretty crazy. Each short had different designs and different direction.

Also, don't forget they're making a Batman '66 (as in the old TV show, complete with Adam West and Burt Ward doing voicework) animated movie as well.

I just watched JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time (which came out around the same time as War, and isn't on the list).

Nothing great really. Dawnstar is an incredibly obscure choice apparently (I only know her due to reading an old fanfic that had her in it), but it wasn't bad either.

I can kinda see why some apparently liked it better than War (none of the heroes being Jerks helps), and Karate Kid was turned into a combination of Karnak and Iron Fist.

Got a chuckle out of the Super Baby stuff. Should add it to the Macguffin Melee page I think.

Edit: Keep getting a red link for that page, even though I know it has one. How does that work?

Edit 2: My bad. It's just JLA Adventures, not Justice League Adventures.

The way time travel and paradoxes work in that movie is so hilariously incoherent, it's just great.

Eh, I figure with someone who consciously controls time like the Time Trapper, time being messed up ain't so crazy.

It's not just the events directly related to the Time Trapper, but things as simple as, if there never was a Superman, why did Bizarro keep existing?

Maybe he's too stupid to be retgoned.

So looking at what they did with Dawnstar, it occurs to me that one of the biggest advantages of using obscure characters is that you can fudge with them much more than you would with more well known characters.

Most people who aren't huge comic buffs likely don't know too much about the legion beyond those characters who appear when they cameo in other series, and she's apparently been MIA since Zero Hour, so just like how Bruce Timm and company brought in Jon Stewart instead of Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan because they felt they could do more with him, the same can be said of her.

They only needed to add some energy projecting powers to her normal self(though I don't re-call her flinging full beams like say Starfire), and boom! Off to the races. That's why these animated shows are great: they can give some screen time to forgotten characters on occasion.
