I've done it once too after finishing a wick check for a trope I thought was much more important than the one I actually had in front.

I've done it in the past with threads I was more interested in doing first—a while back, my Iconic Logo and Idiot Plot threads, for example.

So because of a helpful post by Mayor on Cleavage Window's discussion page, I found the original TLP for the trope. It has zero hats and bombs, and it says the Trope has been nuked. This leads me to believe that hats and bombs didn't exist on TLP once upon a time, and because of that it was okay to launch tropes without them.

They did exist, but I believe they had a different purpose. Someone who was around TLP then could explain better.

I don't think hats existed before about 2011, actually (I know for a fact bombs came well after hats) and initially a draft could only receive five hats max.

I remember when I created the Loyalty Tropes YKTTW, hats didn't exist, but when I bumped it and later launched it, they did but bombs didn't.

As to that being nuked, I think that may just be weirdness with the software.

Bombs coming after hats explains a lot about old drafts, as many have glaring issues but no bombs.

Also, it may have been the case that the draft was copy and pasted onto main/ because that was allowed back then.

(As for the draft being nuked, that might be a database error. It happens to new drafts too—hence all my "TLP draft" comments.)

I started a wick check for Super Title 64 Advance for the exact same reason as Cleavage Window - it's Chairs-y.

Yeah, most old drafts say they were "nuked" even if they actually were launched and are associated with the page they were launched to, up to the point something approaching the current system was implemented. And yes, hats were a later addition (though before the point where drafts wouldn't say they were "nuked" now) with the original idea being "five hats to a launch", with bombs added at some point after that; I wouldn't pay attention to hat/bomb counts until some point in the mid-tens. (Now if there was minimal discussion before a trope was launched, that might be more of a red flag.)

It's also worth noting that People Sit on Chairs only dates to 2012, and until not long before that it was pretty normal for people to trope things that were just "a thing that happens in fiction", regardless of whether they would meet modern tropability standards. The name the Launch Pad had at the time, You Know That Thing Where, is a phrase that could be setting up anything, including things that happen in real life as much if not more than in fiction.

So this is something I've been wondering about for a while, and I don't know where else to look. I heard that if a trope is taken to TRS for, say, reasons such as "Not Thriving" or "Not Tropeworthy," and the OP or someone else suggests the trope is cut, said trope needs to be below a certain inbound threshold for the cut suggestion to be approved. If the trope is above said threshold, it cannot be cut. What is said threshold?

The threshold isn't standardized, so whether a full-fledged cut is ever on the table tends to be up to mod discretion. At least for me, I think anything with a five-digit inbound count or higher has to be redirected or disambiguated instead of cut, while three-digit and four-digit counts depend on the page's age. A three-digit or four-digit inbound count would be high for a newer page, but for older pages (particularly ones that predate the current inbound counts), it's not quite as healthy due to all the time those pages had to attract inbounds compared to newer ones, as well as compared to pages that have even higher inbound counts.

TroperWall / WikiMagic Cleanup

So I'm conducting a wick check for Fun with Acronyms (which you can read here) and I found two/three for WesternAnimation.MODOK 2021. The reason I say two/three instead of one or the other is because the first line says MODOK's kids made two acronyms for their first names, and then gives two bullet points describing what those acronyms mean. Would the first line also count as a wick in and of itself, or do only the two bullet points count?

It's supposed to be for when an acronym spells out something funny or significant, but I believe that the inability to distinguish whether an acronym is funny/significant or not has led to the trope being potholed around as "This is an acronym."

Returning Big Bad looks like a misleading name, as it's mostly covering Returning Arc Villain - and disentangling Big Bad from Arc Villain seems to be a recurring issue.
