Does it count if someone wears a more modest garment underneath the item with the window?

example from Dragon Age: Origins - there are also a load of armours like this in Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga

Nah, I don't think so.

Placing some examples here for elaboration. It's important for an example to talk about the characters outfit and the size and/or shape of there cleavage window. It's also important to be specific in cases where a character wears multiple outfits though out a work's run.

  • Most Arume military uniforms are like this in Blue Drop.
  • All the adult female characters of Amuri in Star Ocean have this in their uniforms.
  • Talia from the Batman comics sometimes wears gowns like this.
  • Star Trek
    • Also Lwaxana Troi, more than once.
  • The Gender Flip version of Nite Owl from Watchmen is typically depicted as having one of these in fanon.
  • In the first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer where Faith appears, she wears a shirt like this.
  • Many WWE Divas have worn outfits with these, most notably Maryse Ouelette and Ivory.
  • Sherufanir in Agarest: Generations of War has a Panty Window.
  • Cassandra's default costume in Soul Calibur 4. And some of the outfits worn by Ivy, Seung-Mina, or Sophitia.
  • A mesh-front is popular amongst Orlesian noblewomen in Dragon Age.
  • The bikini top in Xenoblade closes at the neck, making it this.
    • Most of Sharla's outfits in Xenoblade Chronicles give a nice view of her Cleavage Canyon.
  • Valvatorez in Disgaea 4. Being male does not protect you from fanservice and stripperificness in the Netherworld.
  • Guild Wars uses this trope design in many of the female armours.
  • In Tales of Symphonia, Martel's dress includes one of these. It's much more visible in Kratos' storyline section of Tales of Fandom 2, and The Anime of the Game.
  • Misfile's Emily shows this off about every third outfit.

Oh really? Why is the size of the window so important? Cutting a whole in an outfit for fashion purposes is a trope in of itself. I'm really not sure why you not only removed Daffney but didn't and didn't even include her in this list. Because you've never seen her wear one? You haven't seen them so they don't exist? There is blue, there is purple, happy? If you really want me to I can probably find her yellow, red and clear windows as well but if I can find them, so can you.

No, they need to explain why the examples apply. A mere mention of the name is not enough.

It's as if we've gotten so scared of Zero Content Examples that now every bullet point must basically be a series summary in of itself. "In WCW, Miss Madness's gear had a cleavage window after she became Mona." If you remembered it was triangle shaped or how many inches across, more power to you but everyone who can't shouldn't have to search for images chest holes in clothing just to add an example like I did to "prove" Daffney wore some.

That example was detailed. No word about not following through and checking for cross wicks or the fact it never should have been removed in the first place?

No example writeup needs "a series summary". Please don't make up fake arguments like that. And that example entry is better than anything that was mentioned before.

Does it count if the window is on the front side of the breasts, rather than on the top?

Right. I'll just tweak a few lines in the description to account for that, then.
