General Page Quote Discussion:

Is this the right forum to talk about Quote Pages in? Because this one from Quotes.Ambiguous Disorder doesn't seem to count, given that it names the disorder in question multiple times

(Also, it's long as hell, but that might just be something that bugs me)

- Keep first two sentences only? Or just a bit more to confirm epilepsy?

That's obvious misuse. There's nothing "ambiguous" about that disorder; it's quite specific.

Wooden Stake has a really lame quote:

However, recently a much better quote was added to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer entry in the example section:

Walsh: We use the latest in scientific technology and state-of-the-art weaponry and you, if I understand correctly, poke them with a sharp stick.
Buffy: Well, it's more effective than it sounds.

This example also has a quote that is better than the current page quote:

My suggestion is to scrap the current quote and promote the Buffy quote to page quote.

For Ironic Nickname:

I have absolutely no idea how any of that is ironic, even with the potholes (which would have to go for a page quote).

I've hated the quote on It Only Works Once for a while. Finally found a decent replacement on the page:

I agree that your suggested quote makes more sense than the one already present.

I believe the "irony" there is in the officers name. When spelled with a C instead of a K, it is an anti-black slur. It would only be more blatant if it was "Officer Nigger said a little police brutality is a good thing". That said, I don't think the connection is obvious enough to be a good page quote.

Also, it looks like it's not an example of Ironic Nickname, on account of not being a nickname.

I honestly got it mixed up with Ironic Name. My bad.

Would it work for Ironic Name?

I think it would work better for Ironic Name than that page's current quote, which relies on notes explaining the meanings of the Japanese names.

Per this IP thread, I'm proposing to strike the current page quote and use the latter half to replace the current image caption, which is a line from The Prince of Egypt that was connected to the former page pic.

I agree that the existing quote on Ironic Name is too obtuse. I don't think the Officer Koon quote is much better. I vote we look for a third option.

Unholy Matrimony and Big Bad Duumvirate are incredibly similar. Which shall be vanquished and what should it be replaced with?

I also want to put forward a suggestion to the replace the current quote for Gambling Tropes with Miracle of Sound's Filk Song about Fallout: New Vegas, as I feel it covers more tropes than simply betting large amount of money. Thoughts on it's suitability?

Since the quote is alluding to Adam and Eve, it does seem like it should be pulled from Big Bad Duumvirate but Unholy Matrimony is the only one with a quotes page to draw from for alternatives.

How about this one on the Quotes tab:

And move the other two to the quotes subpage?

OTOH, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy aren't actually Love Interests in B&R, let alone married, whereas they are a Big Bad Duumvirate, so it's not a bad thing to leave that one on the page for the trope it's actually an example of.

Looking at Quotes.Unholy Matrimony for replacements, I'm partial to this one:

Xanatos: We're genetically compatible, highly intelligent, and have the same goals. It makes perfect sense to get married.
Fox: True, but what about love?
Xanatos: I think we love each other, as much as two people such as ourselves are capable of that emotion.

...as it's one of the very few that actually mentions marriage specifically, as opposed to couplehood or romantic attraction. Unfortunately, without the Pot Holes it sort of leaves the "they're both evil" bit to implication. Strong implication, but it would be nice if it were more clearly spelled out.

The Venture Brothers one is okay too.

I think the Xanatos/Fox one is good enough without potholes. Specifically calling out "people such as ourselves" as being incapable of real love is a pretty common villain thing.

As I posted on the last page, can I change the quote on Oddity back to the Mother 4 tagline "Truancy, adventure and an aversion to business suits!"?

The quote on Whammy is a: two quotes and b: doesn't actually contain any information about the trope.

Since nobody answered: Go ahead if you want to. If there's a dedicated series thread in the Video Games forum, maybe you can ask the users there for input.
