So. Personal opinions on the main wiki aren't allowed, be they gushing or bashing. Now, bashing gets tolerated even less than gushing, and that makes sense; it leads to more flamewars.
But that doesn't mean we have to live with all the gushing either. This thread can serve as a center for keeping it in check. One function might be to alert people to pages that are really heavy in gushing, to the point that it's not just a quick fix and will need some assistance.
Perhaps best to just call it Autism/Autism Spectrum and remove the word Disorder, both because it simplifies the title and also because I imagine a lot of people who are autistic see it as stigmatizing.
A lot of autistic people don't really like the term "spectrum" either. We can't please everybody. The opinion I've seen lately seem to have turned against the idea that autism shouldn't be considered a disorder or disability. If it's classified as Autism Spectrum Disorder, we can call it that, or just take the easy route and say UsefulNotes.Autism, with the understanding that the other diagnostic labels are included.
Anyway, let's move this to like, Wiki Talk or something. (bolded as a reminder)

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I think just calling it "Autism" and discussing the above internal politics of nomenclature in more detail within the article itself is the best route.
Since Autism is already an existing page, just leaving that as the title and rewriting it/folding the former Asperger's page into it would be the most efficient route for wiki management since it's a super short and easy-to-type title and we would only have to change half as many inbound links.
Seriously, this is off topic.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYeah, like I said, we should probably make a thread in Short-Term Projects or whichever sub-forum is most appropriate and deal with it there.
There's a TRS thread going regarding that, so move the merge talk there.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportIt may be just me (I'm not really a big fan of Scooby-Doo), but the main description for Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island sounds too gushy to me. Even if it did Win Back the Crowd, it still sounds like it needs some revision to sound less gushy.
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!The description for ★ seems a bit gushy, don't you guys think? Mainly the part where it's listing off all the praise it got.
Actually there's also tropes listed like Dying Moment of Awesome which is more about the author than it is the work.
Also, should Blackstar's title just be listed like that? It's just that it dosen't fall in line with wiki titles.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread!I rewrote Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island to make it sound less gushy and story-like.
My favorite sci fi enemies are the giant sexy depressed womenDoes this look particularly gushy? It's pretty clear that nobody really had this reaction to the film when they watched it, minus one or two naysayers.
YMMV.Spiderman Into The Spiderverse
- Animation Age Ghetto:
- A definite attempt to avoid this. Its advertisements sold it as a superhero movie first and an animated movie second, unlike what had been done with other animated superhero movies like Big Hero 6 and The LEGO Batman Movie. Instead of focusing on comedy, the trailers were designed to have a slick, exciting attitude that would appeal to teens and young adults. It's still rated PG like the aforementioned movies, but unlike many other animated movies with that rating nowadays, it got it for "sequences of animated action violence". In fact, the Internet Movie Database once erroneously listed it as being PG-13.
- Audience reception is dissonant. It got lots of positive word of mouth but also people vocally expressing that they didn't watch it simply for being animation, some explicitly calling it childish because of it. Those who actually have watched it, however, have given it universal praise, and it became the first non-Disney film in quite a while to win Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awardsnote .
- Despite being animated, this movie is considered the best Spider Man movie out there, even more so than the highly respected Spider-Man 2. It is also considered one of the best comic book adaptations ever (Only The Dark Knight, Film/Joker, and Avengers: Infinity War have higher IM Db Ratings. It also ties with Black Panther for the highest score on Rotten Tomatoes)
Also...
- Win Back the Crowd:
- After spending most of The New '10s as everyone's least favorite animation studio ever, especially after the universal hatred for The Emoji Movie (and lukewarm reception of the Hotel Transylvania films, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and The Star, among others), this was the film that proved to the general public that Sony Pictures Animation could make animated features with bite to them.
- The film has also won back many fans of Spider-Man's animated offerings given how one animated television adaptation was cancelled due to legal reasons despite also overwhelming positive reception, with the other two that followed, despite having fans, being seen as inferior shows.
I feel like it's a stretch to say this film singlehandedly made Sony Animation liked again. Sure people loved it, but what did Sony do after this film? Also, animated Spixer-Man is too broad of a thing to win back the crowd too, given each show has their own fanbase.

Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! It's an entire entry describing why it doesn't fit the item, and YMMV typically doesn't note aversions. The only part that seems to matter to the item is the middle, and even then, it seems to be a minority who believed it was squarely a kids' film. The last paragraph is just meaningless gushing. It also kind of all implies that animated comedies are inherently more childish than animated action films, which is lousy and also seems to forget that Spiderverse is also a comedy.
I can better see it fitting Win Back the Crowd for Sony as it absolutely changed the reputation of the studio, but I don't think it ever had that crowd to begin with. The positive reputation it got from Spiderverse is pretty new.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. One film that got a extremely degree of positivity isn't going to change the fact that it made bombs this last decade. Remember that people generally react stronger to bad things than anything good.
I also still feel like it's too early to tell since they havent really made anything that was talked about since then. I don't think Angry Birds 2 got hyped over because of Spiderverse.

- Toby crying. The second he lets out the first whimper, he turns into a hugely Adorkable Woobie that you just want to hug and protect. Even moreso because he's crying about his mom being sick.
Comes off as very creepy, even disregarding the whole issue of Tobuscus being an alleged rapist and fascist sympathizer.

Tearjerker itself is NRLEP, so if Toby's not in character then cut. (I don't even want to get into Toby's controversies.)

My favorite sci fi enemies are the giant sexy depressed womenVideoGame.Tetris Effect has a really gushy description.
I'm back!Removed the Sugar Wiki potholes, at any rate.
I got curious as to what the whole Dream SMP thing was after seeing it pop up as the basis for animatics, and the trope pages I found seem pretty gushy, particularly Fan Works, certain parts of YMMV, and even the Nightmare Fuel page. Fan works I could see being gushy if they were on fanfic Recs, but the pertinent entries are on the Works page.
" Awesome Art: Dear God, SAD-ist's animatics are high-quality, and her art is top-tier. For examples, here's her depiction of Jschlatt◊, Dream and Techno, Wilbur◊, and Sapnap◊."
" First place should, of course, go to the phenomenal animatics made by SAD-ist. Though she'd gained previous popularity through an animation of Dream's "Minecraft Manhunt" series, her take on the SMP is what's really kickstarted her career."
" Calling "Fallen Kingdom" by Pastel Flurry an animatic would almost be doing it a disservice. It's almost entirely smoothly animated, with amazing backgrounds, incredibly creative transitions, and super expressive characters."
"Techno's sheer nonchalance about everything as well. He makes threats and follows up on them with the same old monotone voice he'd use to describe a day in school. Hell, based on everything above, Techno in general. He's The Dreaded for a very good reason. Even worse, he's well aware of it. And he exploits that."

The Protomen enhanced my life.Without wanting to incur the wrath of Bowie's fangirls, Film/Labyrinth is rather full of gushing about Bowie and his, ahem, balls. Should we cut back on that a bit? It's a children's movie, after all, and all the innuendo and gushing about Bowie's crotch seems a bit inappropriate.
Optimism is a duty.Yeaaaah that always weirded me out too looking at the page.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Just the page quote alone... is that really what we want to draw attention to for this movie?
Optimism is a duty.It is not.
(Also, why are all spoilers unmarked?)
I have no idea.
Optimism is a duty.I think people should be reminded on that page that we have a No Lewdness, No Prudishness policy.
