Five Nights at Freddy's High School is a Mexican Web Animation series created by Edd00chan. The videos can be found at YouTube, which also has several episodes subtitled in English.

The series is basically an Affectionate Parody of Five Nights at Freddy's where the animatronics are re-imagined as human teens living at an exclusive Boarding School beset by supernatural phenomena and music bands. Some episodes feature the characters singing music videos of well known songs.

It was cancelled on December 2020 after two seasons and an incomplete spinoff.

This work provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Adaptation Name Change: The series's name got changed to FNAF High School and later FNAFHS in order to avoid copyright issues. Several of the characters's names were changed as well.
  • Affectionate Parody
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Or rather, no one realizes that their crush is also in love with them...
  • Animation Bump: The first ten episodes have some awkward animation, with bad lip syncing and characters floating around sometimes. The rest of episodes are noticably more fluid.
  • Art Evolution: Compared to other similar series, this one started off at a fairly decent quality, and progressively got better with each susequent episode. Starting around Season 2 the series has reached a level in both artwork and animation quality.
  • Asian and Nerdy: Usagi and Loon.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Freddy and Fred may get into disagreements with each other, but there are a few scenes that show they do love each other deep down. They're the same person after all.
  • Beta Couple: Felix and Fede.
  • Betty and Veronica: A gender inverted case with Chica (Archie), Golden (Betty), and Foxy (Veronica).
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Owynn initially seemed friendly towards Usagi, Loon and The Toys, but it's soon revealed he wants to disrupt the bands for.....reasons that are never revealed, due to the series' cancellation.
  • Break the Haughty: Happens to Mangle during Season 2, feeling abandoned by not just Fox but also her bandmates.
  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: Freddy and Bonnie (brunettes), Golden and Chica (blonde) and Foxy (redhead).
  • Bully Magnet:
    • Bonnie. He was a target of bullying due to his passive personality and was constantly abused by Onnie and Oxy. Season 3 show him getting fed up and about to rage at his tormentors, but the series was put on an ongoing hiatus.
    • Averted with Freddy, as he is just a victim of slapstick and bad luck. Fred prefers to be the bully though.
  • Camping Episode: Half of Season 1, where the Animatronics, the Toys, the Nightmares, the Funtimes and the rest of their friends are on a camping trip, where they are to take part in an endurance test.
  • Canine Companion: Bestia the dog to Springtrap.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Bon. Not only does he angst a lot about Bonnie seemingly not returning his feelings, but he also feels them to be improper.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: At the end of Season 1, when Golden is possessed by Tat in order to cause ruckus in a concert. Then it happens again at the end of Season 2, when Owynn starts plotting the downfall of the bands.
  • Characterization Marches On: The main complaint of the series.
    • Freddy is introduced as a cheerful and friendly guy who wants to be popular, but later episodes feature him as shy and insecure.
    • Fred was more evil and sociopathic in earlier episodes. He proved to be so popular with the fans that he became more sympathetic.
    • Even though Golden's love for Chica was very important as part of his character, it gets thrown off the window in Season 2, in favor of the fan-favorite Foxy/Chica.
    • In Season 1 it’s hinted Chica does return Golden’s feelings for her, but in Season 2 she gets more Ship Tease with Foxy instead.
  • Childhood Friends: Foxy, Mangle and Springtrap. Also Usagi and Loon.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: A good number of the characters. See the Characters page for details.
  • Deconstruction: When Freddy meets Foxy, Chica and Bonnie for the first time, he assumes them to be a delinquent, a Genki Girl and a nerd respectively. Then he finds out seconds later that Foxy is a very dork delinquent, Chica is so cheerful that she didn't have any friends before meeting The Animatronics and Bonnie uses thick nerd glasses so he could sleep in class without anyone noticing.
  • Downer Ending: A lot of episodes had pretty depressing endings. Such as when Fred takes over Freddy's body completely or when Golden falls into despair after being called out by Chica due to him being absent for too much band practices.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Mangle, Joy and Bon appear in Episode 6 in the background before they're properly introduced as The Toys.
    • Similarly, Deuz, Onnie and Oxy appear as Bonnie's bullies before they're properly introduced as part of The Nightmares.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: The Nightmares are awful but they do care for each other. Similarly, they are protective of Toddy after she starts hanging out with them.
  • Genki Girl: Chica is super enthusiastic and very bouncy. She always sets the mood up with her enthusiasm.
    • Joy is also this, too. She is very cheerful, bubbly, sweet, agreeable, helpful and excitable, and it's very hard to get her angry.
    • Also Abby, especially when it comes to her yaoi pairings.
  • Genre Savvy: In "El Bully y el Heroe", Felix, Fede and Abby try to defend themselves from bullies by fighting them, but they lose each time. It actually occurs to Lily to simply call the teacher and it works.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Foxy is very antagonistic towards Golden because he’s rich, talented and a rival for Chica’s affections.
    • His sister Mangle is the same, as she does NOT approve of Foxy becoming friends with other people besides her and Springtrap and is very antagonistic towards The Animatronics, especially Chica, whom she believes is trying to steal her big brother away.
  • Halloween Episode: "The Walking Fred".
  • Have I Mentioned I Am Heterosexual Today?: Bon is a closet gay and has feelings for Bonnie, but he thinks those feelings are improper. So he uses Toddy in order to prove everyone he's straight and "totally not interested in that Bonnie guy".
  • High School AU
  • Image Song: The characters have them. Downplayed, as these are actually musical covers the voice actors already had in the past before they were implemented for the series.
  • Incest Subtext: Foxy and Mangle had alot of ship tease prior to being revealed as siblings, along with the fact that "No Hay Arreglo" would also come off this way if you were unaware of their blood relation. Twins Puppet and Mai also had in this with one scene in their image song.
  • Lower-Class Lout: The Nightmares, who bully other kids and harass them for money. They are mostly poor, part of a gang and are major jerks to everyone.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: How Golden sees Chica. He felt resigned about his fate as a teen idol exploited by his grandfather, but meeting her made him feel alive again. Heck, all his image songs are about her.
  • Nice Mean And In Between:
    • The Toys - there's the sweet and friendly Joy (nice), Mangle the clingy with abandonment issues (mean), and arrogant yet sexually confused Bon (in-between).
    • The Nightmares - There's also Deuz as the one who cares about the wellbeing of his bandmates (nice), the brute thugs Onnie and Oxy (mean), and the sympathetic tough girl Maggie (in-between).
  • Peer Pressure Makes You Evil: Implied with Onnie in his Image Song. Sure, he's an idiotic bully and delinquent who picks on the weak, but his only friends are delinquents too and he sees them as family due to his own abusive parents.
  • Perky Goth: Puppet and Mai. Strange, prone to wearing black, and they have the most fun of anyone in this story by far.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Fred, whose described by Freddy as flat out evil, shows that he's actually capable of compassion. Such as his budding feelings for Joy.
    • Foxy resents Golden, due to being rich, famous and a rival for Chica's affections. But the moment Golden is homeless and keeps making a fool of himself in his attempts to live like a low-class person, Fox immediately allows him to live at his house.
    • Mangle happily glomping Joy once the girl has returned to normal in "Es Hora de Cambiar". She tries this with Bon, but she decides to punch him instead for making her worry. When she ends up punching Bonnie instead, she apologizes and takes him to the infirmary. Considering that in Season 1 she was extremely antagonistic to the Animatronics and didn't want Bonnie to interact with Bon, this is a nice change.
    • Onnie and Oxy in "Descubre Quien Eres" and "Verdaderos Sentimientos". For once they're not trying to act like rude bullies and actually have a normal conversation with Toddy, even snarking at each other. Then even teach her to play the guitar. Toddy points this out, telling Bon that the Nightmares have been nicer to her compared to the Toys, who only tolerated her because she was Bon's "friend".
    • Downplayed, but even Maggie is seen glaring at Bon, after Onnie and Oxy try to beat him up to protect Toddy, implied that even she likes the girl, in her own cold and distant way. Then again, Maggie has a past of being harrassed by grown men.
  • Split Personality: The shy Freddy has another personality, the assertive casanova Fred, who was created due to Fred bottling too much emotions during all his life in order to act as a "model son". Who's in charge can usually be indicated by Freddy getting a black sclera.
    • Season 2 reveals that Tat, the Big Bad of Season 1, is actually Cami's split personality, but nothing is known about them, only that Tat was created due to Cami's repressed rage after beuing bullied in her childhood.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome:
    • Chica is always cheery and sporting a smile. However, this attitude put off people and she didn't have any friends before meeting the Animatronics.
    • Springtrap ran away from the orphanage because he didn't want to be adopted by anyone following the death of his parents. As he was still a small child when this happened, he never finished school and has troubles with basic math.
    • Golden wished that he can be free from his exploiting grandfather, but after Foxy gave him a place to run from home, it's very apparent that Golden has no capacity to be independent. He can't cook, can't do house chores and his skills back when he was a pampered rich kid are useless in his everyday life.
    • After Toddy realizes that she was allowed to join The Toys because Bon told them to, she ends up feeling hurt when she realizes that nobody really likes her. It goes to show that just because someone is a complete jerk to people, doesn't mean that he or she will be completely happy with being disliked (whether they deserve it or not).
    • Deuz wants his bandmates to become honest people. Problem is, they are dirt-poor delinquents brash who resolve anything with violence, so their attempts always fail spectacularly.
  • Teen Idol: Golden Freddy.
  • Shrinking Violet: Loon is very shy and meek, only opening up to Usagi and too afraid to talk to anyone else.
  • Yaoi Fangirl: Abby, who happily and loudly ships pretty much any two men that so much as breathe on each other (including her friends. Felix and Fede have no problems with this, considering they're dating).
    • Season 2 reveals Joy is a closet yaoi fangirl, as her mother chastised her for it when she was young due to finding it "improper". Probably the reason why she encourages Bon to confess his feelings for Bonnie...
