Trivia / IF (2024)

  • Ascended Meme:
    • The film's Super Bowl ad references the famous gag from The Office in which Randall Park played a stand-in for John Krasinski's character Jim Halpert, with Park appearing 'as Krasinski' to Ryan Reynolds' confusion. Krasinski even temporarily altered his social media accounts' profile pics to that of a photo of Park.
  • Creator's Oddball:
    • For Ryan Reynolds' Maximum Effort banner. While Reynolds has acted in family-friendly films before, the works he stars and/or produces are usually PG-13 and almost hard-R-related works, including his Deadpool trilogy. This is the first project he has produced that is now geared toward family audiences.
    • The same applies to the movie's director and writer, John Krasinski after the success of the horror franchise, A Quiet Place.
  • Died During Production: Louis Gossett Jr, who plays Lewis, died on March 29, 2024, two months before the film's release.
  • Dueling Works: Is this with the live-action film adaptation of Harold and the Purple Crayon, which also deals with a man who lives in a world where fantasy ideas become reality. It is also this with two other 2024 films about imaginary friends, the other ones being the horror film Imaginary and Studio Ponoc's anime film The Imaginary (which is getting an international streaming release in 2024 after a Japanese theatrical release in December 2023)..
  • Friendly Fandoms: Moviegoers expressed their support to both this movie and the hard-as-R rated Deadpool & Wolverine being out in the same year. Given the fact both films are starred and produced by Ryan Reynolds himself.
  • Posthumous Credit: Louis Gossett Jr., who voices the Lewis, died about two months before the film’s release.
  • Production Posse:
  • Those Two Actors: The film reunites Krasinski with Steve Carell since the days of The Office. The same goes for both Matt Damon and Emily Blunt after co-starring together in the previous year's Oppenheimer.
