Here are the shout-outs found in Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer.
- Aside from the lack of a helmet, Gowcaizer's bright-colored armor resembles the bio-booster armor of the titular character from Guyver if you were to put in a more subdued color palette over it.
- Karin Son or Son Karin is specifically a shout-out to Son Goku from Journey to the West and perhaps the more (recently) famous Son Goku of Dragon Ball fame.
- Kyosuke Shigure's spiritually imbued wooden sword or bokken is reminiscent of Kazuma Kuwabara's Rei-Ken or Spirit Sword of YuYu Hakusho fame.
- Meanwhile, his fiery spiritual familiars are common among fiction featuring omyouji mixed with something more esoteric, like Stands from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- Shaia's Ball Boy mechanical assistant is highly reminiscent of the similarly named Ball Boy (a talking baseball) from Seiun Kamen Machineman.
- Brider's lightning fist special move also has a lot of similarities with another SNK game character's moves, such as Benimaru Nikaido's Raijinken/Raikouken.
- He also looks like a mix between a Kamen Rider shout-out and a human-sized Gundam cosplay.
- Notably, several recognizable Kamen Rider enemies can be seen in Brider's stage.
- Sheng Long is perhaps named after that infamous Street Fighter "secret" character. However, he looks more like Lau Chan from Virtua Fighter or Mercenary Tao from Dragon Ball but with mutton chops and jogging pants.
- The mechanical monster known as Platonic Twins looks a lot like Shugoshin Godol (minus the gynoid comprising his torso) from Voltes V.
- Every character is derived from different genres and premises of manga and comics.
- Gowcaizer: He is based on classic hot-blooded shonen protagonists, especially from martial arts series.
- Hellstinger: His character lifts elements from both premises of manga revolving around everyday people who turn into super-famous celebrity alter egos, and comics based around musicians and bands, including doujinshi and official sponsored merchandise.
- Karin Son: She is based on manga heroes who carry on legacies of famous historic figures whose journeys and travels take them to Japan.
- Kyosuke: He is inspired from supernatural investigation manga protagonists, including being one of the few who don't hide their identities.
- Shaia: She is based on protagonists from double-life Slice of Life manga, especially for those who come to Earth as aliens.
- Captain Atlantis: He is based on classic American superheroes.
- Marion: She is based on manga premises of non human beings and creatures developing humanity and learning about human life. In her ending we have homages to Guncannon and Guntank.
- Brider: He is based on the lone Henshin Hero or Sentai heroes and school-centered action manga.
- Fudoumaru: He is based on modern-day Ninja manga protagonists.
- Sheng Long: He is based on morally ambiguous crime and darker-themed martial arts manga protagonists.
- Platonic Twins: As mentioned before, the twins take a lot from forbidden brother and sister incest romance stories and their combined form is also based on henshin or sentai manga villains.
- Ohga: He is based on manga villains whose motives are to attain godhood and ultimate perfection.
- Necrocaizer: She is based on scantily clad 1990's comic book superheroines.
