Go To

The final battle has arrived. Now the Turtles must fight the Tengu Shredder for the sake of the world.

This episode provides examples of

  • Ascended Fanboy: Chaplin is positively ecstatic to again be working with Stockman.
"You and I are a team again! Isn't it just so awesome?"
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: Implied to happen to the Ninja Tribunal and the Ancient One.
  • Balance Between Good and Evil: Kon's reasoning for the Ninja Tribunal's actions, as any direct interference from them in certain key events would've disrupted the possibility of true victory occurring.
  • Behemoth Battle: The Tengu Shredder versus the Turtles, all in their respective dragon avatar forms.
  • Being Good Sucks: Kon explains the Ninja Tribunal had to let things play out the way they did (including Yoshi dying, the Mystics reviving the Tengu Shredder, and staying out of the final fight) in order for true victory to be achieved. Chikara's sympathetic tone towards Splinter makes it clear they did what they thought was necessary but weren't happy about it.
  • Bookends: Splinter handles the opening narration and gets the final line of the episode.
  • Call-Back: The Ninja Tribunal notes that Yoshi had to die in order for the Turtles and Splinter to be who they are—an idea previously broached in "Reflections" and "Tale of Master Yoshi".
  • Continuity Nod: Hamato Yoshi was slain in a single stroke by the Utrom Shredder many years before the series began. Now a mystical version of Hamato Yoshi slays the Demon Shredder in a single strike
  • Death Seeker: Stockman is shown to be this when Bishop puts him back online, much to his chagrin.
Stockman: Why can't I ever be left alone to expire in peace?
  • Defiant to the End: The Tengu Shredder.
  • Do Not Go Gentle: All alone against the Tengu Shredder, Splinter raises his staff and steps forward to fight. Luckily, he gets some help from a very unexpected source.
  • Faking the Dead: After the fight's over, the Ninja Tribunal reveal they did this.
  • Final Battle
  • Finishing Move
  • From Bad to Worse: Splinter finds four of the Acolytes presumably dead. Then he sees the Turtles lying on the ground.
  • Guns Akimbo: Agent Bishop when he's fighting the Tengu Shredder's army
  • Hellish Horse: The Tengu Shredder's mount
  • Holding Hands: Karai does this to Chaplin at the end.
  • Hooked Up Afterwards: Karai and Chaplin
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: A mystic version of Hamato Yoshi finishes the Tengu Shredder off this way
  • Little "No": Splinter after finding the Acolytes unconscious in the field and again when he sees the Turtles nearby.
  • Me's a Crowd: Nano, in his Justice Force form, is shown to do this
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: The Turtles mercilessly whale on the Demon Shredder after being stripped much of his power by Karai.
  • Omniscient Morality License: The immortal Ninja Tribunal gets away with allowing everything that had transpired thus far throughout the series to occur, because according to them, it all had to happen that way for the demon Shredder to be killed.
  • One-Winged Angel: The Tengu Shredder's dragon form. The Turtles' Dragon forms may also apply.
  • Papa Wolf: Master Yoshi.
  • Percussive Maintenance: Bishop temporarily restores Stockman's shorting systems with a kick
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "This, demon, is your very last breath."
  • Put on a Bus: The Ninja Tribunal moves on and invites the Ancient One to join them.
  • Rearing Horse: The Tengu Shredder does this on his Hellish Horse after he attacks the Acolytes and the Ancient One
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Hun decides to escape with the Demon Shredder's gold. Thankfully, he didn't get far.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: The Ancient One says he had actually sensed the Ninja Tribunal was alive and nearby, though he kept this to himself.
  • Series Fauxnale: Originally, this episode was supposed to be the conclusion of the series—wrapping out the most outstanding plots, while leaving room to continue. There were two more seasons and a feature-length movie.
  • Single Tear:
    • Master Splinter, when the mystical version of Hamato Yoshi acknowledges him
    • The Ancient One when calling Splinter family before leaving with the Ninja Tribunal.
  • So Proud of You: The Ninja Tribunal congratulate their Acolytes on their victory.
  • Tempting Fate: Stockman, upon realizing he has to work with overly enthusiastic fanboy Dr. Chaplain again:
Stockman: This day couldn't possibly get any worse.
  • This Cannot Be!: Splinter over his sons being presumably dead.
  • Villainous Valor: Even when the tide turns against the Tengu Shredder, he refuses to give up against the Turtles in their dragon avatar forms despite taking a pounding and once Hamato Yoshi's sprit appears, the Tengu Shredder vows to fight to his last breath and gets struck down by Yoshi.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Hun ended up in a room full of treasure. He prefers to stay with it during the big fight, but it soon disappears as everything returns to normal.
    "Aw, crud."
