Tropes

  • Be All My Sins Remembered: Racules was willing to be executed and remembered as the worst king ever, saying his sins can't be justified to save the universe.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Gira regains his past memories, Racules is added to the team in an offhand capacity, the heroes un-do the Jesters' de-aging plot and Yanma manages to endow all of the King-Ohgers with the OhgerCalibur ZERO's Immortal Breaker power. But, their battle with Minongan plays into the Jesters' scheme to revive Dagded, who promises revenge.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: As much as Racules was willing to be executed, the other Kings reveal Dagded is still alive and will continue to exist so long as the other Jesters still live. Instead, he's sentenced to work with the team to pay for his crimes, which he wholeheartedly accepts.
  • Cerebus Retcon: Rainbow Jururia has always been presented as a dish that evokes happy memories and feelings out of Gira whenever he ate it; a symbol of happier times. Turns out that delectable dish was crushed Shugod Soul and was meant to devolve him into a Tyke Bomb.
  • Chekhov's Boomerang:
    • Rainbow jururira was originally used to prove that Gira and Racules are brothers in the first few episodes. Here, it's revealed that what Gira actually consumed was Kuwagon's soul.
    • #26 revealed that the Bognaarok's monstrous appearances were the result of consuming Shugod Souls to empower themselves in the war against humanity. It's revealed that Corsus planned for Gira to consume Shugod Souls to turn him into a monster capable of both defeating the Bognaarok and defying the Galactinsects; Gira only gets as far as consuming God Kuwagata's Soul, which is why he remains human.
    • In #38, Rita points out that Minongan had something hiding inside of his body. That something was a backup body for Dagded.
  • Cooldown Hug: Racules gives Gira one after he consumed rainbow jururira, which had caused him to go berserk.
  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: Instead of being executed, Racules is sentenced to work with the King-Ohgers as their "tool", which is what he called everyone else.
  • Death by Childbirth: Gira's mother died giving birth to him.
  • Death of Personality: Corsus' plan to feed Gira the Souls of the Shugods, had it succeeded, would've resulted in the boy ever forgetting he was human and devolving into a loyal monster Shugoddam could then sic on Dagded in rebellion.
  • Defiant to the End: Even as he was dying, Corsus still chose to fight one last time.
  • Emotional Regression: The kings go through a literal version of this when they are de-aged, as all of them revert back to their personalities at 10-years-old. Interestingly, while their adult minds are aware of this, they can't seem to apply said personalities to their current state. Kaguragi is a Downplayed instance, as he was a much more caring person back in the day, and is thus forced into the role of babysitter.
  • Evolving Credits: The opening now includes Gira's last name since in the climax of the previous episode, he accepts the name after learning the truth behind his brother's actions, which were the reason he distanced himself from the Hastie name.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Racules feeds the Rainbow Jururia to Gira as ordered. Upon learning what the dish really was, he defies Corsus and sends his brother away to an orphanage instead of reducing the boy to a Tyke Bomb.
  • Fountain of Youth: As shown in the picture, the team minus Rita all get physically and mentally de-aged into being 10 years old, while Kogane is now a baby.
  • G-Rated Sex: Dagded impregnates Causus' wife by zapping her with his magic.
  • Hope Spot: The monarchs seemingly defeat Minongan, cutting down one more of the Galactinsects... but it turns out that Minongan is Dagded's Body Backup Drive, and promptly comes back with Minongan little worse for wear.
  • Immortal Breaker: Yanma reveals to the team that he managed to reverse-engineer the god-killing capabilities of the OhgerCalibur ZERO and added it to their own OhgerCaliburs and the Kumonoslayer.
  • Killed Offscreen: Boshimar faced off against Kamejim after he blows the latter's cover. When we next see "Boshimar", it's now Kamejim in disguise.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Gira consuming Kuwagon's soul was the reason for his lost memories. After being aged back to normal, he regains them.
  • Make an Example of Them: What the Fury Of The Gods was. Dagded instigated the tragedy in response to Corsus' pans to transform Gira into a Tyke Bomb and fight him with it.
  • Meaningful Echo: Racules declares that Gira is himself and not a mere tool, both as a young prince protesting against Corsus' plan and as part of his confession to Rita.
  • Muscle Angst: Kaguragi looks a bit distressed when he sees his 10-year-old physique, despite the fact that he's still relatively fit.
  • Mystical Pregnancy: Gira is revealed to be born a result of one from Dagded impregnating his mother, with Causus even dubbing him a "miracle child".
  • Mythology Gag: The heroes receiving younger versions of their armor to account for their drop in age is reminiscent of Ressha Sentai Toqger and how it handled its heroes' younger selves.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The King-Ohgers seemingly manage to destroy Minongan...who was serving as a living Body Backup Drive for Dagded. They effectively cracked open the egg containing their biggest threat.
  • Origins Episode: Continuing on from the last episode's reveals, this episode details the backstory of both Racules himself and the kingdom of Shugoddam's tumultuous past.
  • Out of Focus: Rita only shows up here-and-there without getting involved in the age-shifting shenanigans. Justified, since they were too busy overseeing Racules' trial to fight Minongan alongside everyone else.
  • Overnight Age-Up: Both Douga and Goroge are seen having aged into old men, while Boone is now an adult. Inverted with the other King-Ohgers and Kogane, who are reduced to children and a baby respectively.
  • Retcon: Three episodes ago, Dagded called himself both Gira's father and mother. Here, it's revealed he was exaggerating a bit: He actually impregnated the Queen VIA his powers and had her give birth to Gira.
  • The Reveal:
    • When Corsus requested a boon from Dagded as a reward for his loyalty, he forcibly impregnated the queen. This explains how Racules and Gira are biologically related: they're technically half-brothers.
    • Corsus wanted to use Gira as a weapon to defeat Dagded, which is why Gira was fed Rainbow Jururia: It was God Kuwagata's ground-up Soul. Once Racules saw Gira going berserk from the process, he sent Gira away and erased every record of his existence to ensure he wouldn't be used as a weapon.
    • The Fury of the Gods was instigated by the Galactinsects as a way of putting humanity in its place after Corsus' defiance.
    • When Dagded is brought back from the dead, Minongan is revealed to be a Body Backup Drive that he can resurrect himself from.
    • The reason Gira could transform on Earth while the others couldn't and why God Kuwagata's spirit came out of his stomach in #32 was because he was unknowingly fed God Kuwagata's Shugod Soul, essentially making its presence a permanent part of him.
  • Revision: Episodes ago, Grodie outed himself as the perpetrator of the Fury Of the Gods. This episode reveals that Dagded was the one that actually came up with the tragedy as retaliation against the Husty family for defying him.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: The episode reveals that Rcules was indeed responsible for Gira's 'kidnapping' like the latter theorized back in #6. However, it was done to protect him rather than get him out of the way of his tyranny.
  • Rule of Symbolism: As Gira goes to give Rcules a handshake of trust, visions of their younger selves are seen hugging to symbolize their repaired bond.
  • Sanity Slippage: It's heavily hinted that Causus' experience with his wife's Death by Childbirth of Gira as well as his ailing illness drove him to be open to making large sacrifices if it means killing Dagded, to the point of wanting to sacrifice Gira as a Tyke Bomb in order to protect the last blood family he has, Rcules.
  • Shoot the Dog: Corsus sets his sights on reducing Gira into a Tyke Bomb by force-feeding him the souls of the other Shugods (which would slowly rob him of sapience) then sicc-ing him on Dagded. Racules luckily saves him before the act ever takes place, opting to instead erase every trace of Gira's existence to keep him safe.
  • Spotting the Thread: Boshimar realizes something is wrong when a guard approaches him to help with a sick Gira, noticing that said guard isn't at his usual post. The guard turns out to be a disguised Kamejim.
  • Suicide by Cop: Downplayed. Minongan throws a few punches, but effectively forfeits the battle and allows the heroes to destroy him. This was deliberate, as shattering his body allows a revived Dagded to crawl out. Oh, and Minongan was fine.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: While Racules' actions were for the good of the people, it still doesn't erase the fact that he committed numerous crimes against the other kingdoms, which he himself is fully aware of.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Played With. Instead of outright rebelling against Dagded, Racules follows in his dad's footsteps and capitulates to the monster willingly; deciding to act on his own version of The Plan instead of making his brother a superweapon.
Racules: (Narrating) The Galactinsect King had to fall. To make that happen, I had no choice but to resort to evil.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The A plot deals with Racules recounting the truth behind Gira and the Shugoddam royal family to Rita as part of his testimony, while the B plot deals with the rest of the team fighting off Minongan's attack.
  • Tyke Bomb: Corsus' plans for Gira involved feeding him Rainbow Jururia (actually crushed-up Shugod Souls) until he was robbed of all memories and humanity, then siccing the resulting hollow puppet onto Dagded to protect the planet.
  • The Unfettered: Corsus justifies his plan to devolve Gira into an obedient puppet VIA Rainbow Jururia by claiming that a king's duty is to kill his emotions and stoop to anything to protect his people. Racules ultimately ends up following this advice - albeit on longer, slower terms that don't reduce Gira to a mindless superweapon.
Corsus: To save our people...and to save their future families...you must kill your emotions. That is a king's duty. Gira is a tool.
  • Un-person: Racules had Gira erased from the royal records to ensure he couldn't be found and used as a tool.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Even after Kaguragi manages to get the King-Ohger kids to transform, they continue bickering at one another. The kids manages to strike Minongan during their play, which slowly returns them back to normal.
  • Wham Shot: Dagded emerging from the inside of the recently slain Minongan.
  • Younger Than They Look: Kaguragi looks much older than he should for a ten-year old, owing to the fact that he’s the only one of the team to not have another actor to play as his younger self. Kaguragi explains that his excellent nutrition and sleeping habits caused some type of Rapid Aging to occur.
