Story by Julie McNally Cahill, Tim Cahill, and Roger Eschbacher
Teleplay by Roger Eschbacher

The episode opens with Blythe running at top speed through an empty hallway of the International Pet Fashion Expo. A coordinator announces over the PA system for Blythe to report for judging, but Blythe is unable to find her kiosk. She passes by Youngmee, Sue, and Jasper, all of whom are holding watermelons, who remind Blythe that there'll be consequences for being late (except for Jasper, who offers her his watermelon). She arrives at her kiosk, only to find it empty with the judges descending upon her. Suddenly in her pajamas and holding a teddy bear, the judges close in on her, and Blythe wakes up in her room.

Growing weary of this nightmare, Blythe eagerly anticipates the International Pet Fashion Expo so she doesn't have to dream it again. She explains her situation to Emma but soon gets a call from Mona Autumn, a Caustic Critic Blythe ran into in "Alligators and Handbags," who tells Blythe she'll write an article on Blythe and is given free rein to bring whatever and whomever she wants for the photo shoot on the cover of Trés Blasé. Blythe relays the news to the Littlest Pet Shop day camp regulars and heads out, leaving the pets to ponder the greatness they can have—except for Russell, who becomes nervous.

At the school cafeteria, Blythe meets up with her friends, who assure her that they will help in any way they can. During the discussion, Blythe finds the Biskit Twins, who then hide behind a cart of trays. Blythe walks over, pulls the carts away, and puts the twins into a panic. Satisfied, Blythe and her friends finish lunch and walk away. Having the cafeteria to themselves, Whittany admits to Brittany she forgot about the expo but that their father Fisher can help. The two of them also make mention of Fisher doing something that requires Blythe not get any positive attention. In addition, Trés Blasé is their favorite magazine and cannot be sullied by Blythe's appearance on it. On her way to class, Blythe receives a sudden call from Mona, who has changed the rules: Blythe must be dressed as a city girl, the background must be a jungle setting, and Blythe is allowed only one pet for the photo shoot.

The Littlest Pet Shop gets a visitor to the day camp: Delilah, a cat who is staying in the shop for a little while before the expo. After introducing themselves to her, Sunil finds himself lovestruck, which Delilah finds amusing. Russell tells Delilah that they're excited to be on the cover of Trés Blasé, but Delilah is unimpressed, as being on magazine covers and going to the International Pet Fashion Expo is something she's done many times prior already. Nevertheless, Delilah explains how the International Pet Fashion Expo is like through her song, "All Around the World."

Blythe shows Youngmee and Emma her world map as Blythe explains how her travels have influenced her designs. After showing a dog sweater influenced by the Great Wall of China, Youngmee suggests Blythe design for humans too, but Blythe voices apprehension at that idea and will stick to pet fashions for the moment. When Emma hears that Blythe is only allowed one pet to accompany her, Emma suggests to pull a name out of a hat. Blythe does so and gets Russell. She gets moments of doubt, but she intends to stick with bringing Russell.

The Biskit Twins sneak into the Littlest Pet Shop and spot Blythe's kiosk through the window. Surprised that it doesn't look dilapidated anymore, they make their way to the kiosk and pull out markers to try to ruin its appearance. Before they can scribble on the kiosk, they hear some angry words from Mrs. Twombly and scramble out. Mrs. Twombly emerges holding a tablet, her words directed at what she has discovered Fisher will do.

Blythe heads down the dumbwaiter into the day camp and meets Delilah. After scratching Delilah's back, Blythe relays the bad news that Mona Autumn will only allow one pet. She declares Russell as her companion, but the pets protest over that decision as Russell is the only one who doesn't want to go. Russell suggests she try picking out a name again, which the other pets agree upon. Blythe, seeing no harm, shuffles the names in her hat again, only to pick out Russell. The other pets try it too, but only Russell seems to get chosen. Mrs. Twombly eventually calls Blythe away, to which Zoe passive-aggressively insults Russell, causing him to walk off. Penny and Pepper call out Zoe for refusing to help Russell when he needs help, despite him repeatedly helping out the other pets. A conflicted Zoe apologizes and gives helping Russell a shot.

At the counter Mrs. Twombly shows Blythe the bad news: Fisher intends to open a second Largest Ever Pet Shop in Downtown City. Mrs. Twombly, worried about the increased competition, all but admits that she's depending on Blythe's possible boost being on the magazine to bring in enough customers to hold up under the pressure.

Blythe takes Russell to the photo shoot, but Mona is unhappy over Russell not moving and closing his eyes each time the camera flashes. Blythe telling Russell to pose as they practice worsens the whole affair as he makes strange, awkward expressions instead. On top of that, Mrs. Twobly incessantly and cheerfully reminds Blythe that Littlest Pet Shop is done for if this photo shoot is not successful. As Blythe tells Russell not to close his eyes, the flash blinds him, and he bumps into a set of strip lights, toppling them over and destroying them. Russell continues to wander about blinded and knocks over two Fresnel lights and a reflector. The reflector hits the cameraman on the head, causing him to drop his camera and shatter it. Mona, now very irate, berates Blythe for having doomed the Littlest Pet Shop, causing Blythe to wake up from this nightmare.

Blythe, the pets, and Mrs. Twombly ready themselves for the photo shoot, but Blythe discovers her trailer hitch is missing, the Littlest Pet Shuttle has a flat tire, and Roger is busy on a flight. The Biskit Twins watch from the other side of the street, behind a car, holding up a tack and a wrench and laughing at Blythe's misery.

This episode contains examples of (YMMV entries go here):

  • Big "NO!": When a watermelon salesman comes to Blythe in Act 3.
  • Brick Joke: Blythe's teddy bear in her nightmare can be seen next to the mirror in her room in Act 1. It never again appears in any shots in Blythe's room.
  • Buffy Speak: Whittany refers to the International Pet Fashion Expo as the "Ippy Effy Thingy."
  • Call-Back: Mona Autumn plays a key role. Minimal context is provided.
  • Catapult Nightmare: During the Cold Open. Slightly subverted in that Blythe doesn't bounce up immediately but needs a second to regain her senses.
  • Changing Clothes Is a Free Action: In "All Around the World," all that's needed for the pets to get changed into their new outfits is to be behind the changing room's curtain. Penny, in particular, goes in naked and immediately comes out, one frame later, fully dressed.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: In Blythe's nightmare, Blythe finds exhibits themed on various countries and names them. Her list includes each country Blythe has visited in the second season: China, France, and Brazil. Russia is also in this list, which Roger was going to fly the Biskit Twins to in "Grounded." All four countries are again among the country-themed exhibits listed in "All Around the World."
  • Continuity Nod: Blythe's background picture on her phone, which depicts her with the regular pets, was previously seen in Roger's photo gallery in "Blythe's Big Idea."
    • The monkey in the Brazil exhibit in "All Around the World" resembles the monkey bandits in Esteban's story in "Blythe's Crush."
    • Youngmee makes mention of Blythe's and Emma's trips to Paris and Rio, as is mentioned above in Continuity Cavalcade.
  • Disaster Dominoes: In Act 3's nightmare, Russell destroys all of the cameraman's equipment in this way.
  • Evil Laugh: The judges in Blythe's nightmare.
    • The Biskit Twins have a rather long one, and their most malicious-sounding one yet, at the end of this episode.
  • German Dialects: The dog in the Germany exhibit in "All Around the World."
    German Dog: Ze German pavilion.
  • Good Feels Good: Zoe admits it feels nice to give Russell some needed encouragement.
  • I Am Very British: Delilah.
  • Idiosyncratic Wipes: Blythe's kiosk passes by in Act 1 to transition to the Littlest Pet Shop.
    • Pet toys come falling down early into Act 3.
  • It's All About Me: After telling the pets about the fame Mona can bring, Vinnie immediately gets to thinking about how Mona will focus all her attention on him. Zoe too.
  • The Magazine Rule: Aspiring Tour Guides, a magazine Emma subscribes to. Emma also publishes it.
  • Mood Whiplash: Just like the pilot, the episode ends as the Bisket twins laugh evily over Blythe as she wallows over her missing trailer hitch...and then it cuts right to the cheerful, happy closing theme.
  • Motor Mouth/Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Delilah exhibits this combination in her speech, making her particularly hard to understand for the other pets, at least when not singing. Only Russell can consistently keep up with her.
  • Multi-Part Episode
  • Noodle Incident: Whittany says that she and Brittany engage in "normal everyday spying" with no explanation on who they spy on or for what purpose.
  • Performance Anxiety: Russell does not work well with cameras, it seems. He may have caught it from Blythe.
  • Recurring Dreams: Blythe has had the Cold Open's nightmare at least once before.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: Blythe answers Mona's rhetorical question over the phone in Act 1. Mona has to explain that her question was rhetorical.
  • A Riddle Wrapped in a Mystery Inside an Enigma: Sunil describes Delilah as "a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside of an enigma floating on a sea of 'What the heck!'"
  • Running Joke: Blythe now associates watermelons with terror, as her nightmares, except for Russell's photo shoot, apparently contain watermelons in them as she's feeling terrified.
  • Seen It All: Delilah is perpetually bored, as her life as a fashionista has exposed her to so much spectacle everywhere that nothing can excite her anymore. As a result, Delilah is also The Stoic. Catching her interest, however, is that Blythe can understand what she's saying.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Blythe's Big Idea."
  • Shout-Out: This episode's title is most likely based on The X Factor.
    • Like with the case with "Stand Up Stinker," this episode premiered shortly before before a related event. This time, it is 2014's Pet Expo two weeks after this episode's premiere date.
    • "All Around the World" is based on the song "Eyes on Us" by Britney Spears.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: The judges in Blythe's nightmare.
  • Squee: When Blythe finds out Mona will write about her.
  • Stop and Go: The song pauses for two and a half beats towards the end of "All Around the World." Appropriately enough, Delilah says "Stop!" right before the pause.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Whittany tells Blythe that she doesn't know what Blythe and her friends are talking about as Brittany invents an excuse.
  • That Russian Squat Dance: The Russian bear in "All Around the World" sings while dancing it.
  • Toros y Flamenco: The Spanish pavilion.
  • Visual Pun: At the school, Jasper talks about Blythe having a full plate while his own cafeteria tray is full.
    • Having been on the cover of Trés Blasé many times before, Delilah has a rather blasé attitude.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Pepper and Penny Ling call out Zoe when she tries to make Russell feel bad about being in the photo shoot out of jealousy.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: This episode confirms New York City exists in the series, meaning Downtown City is not a stand-in for the place.
