Nightmare Fuel / Mischief (MHA)

Go To

The worlds of My Hero Academia and the Marvel Universe already have plenty of dark and scary elements alone, but combined, we have a story that can be the stuff nightmares are made of.

As is the case with all pages detailing Nightmare Fuel, Spoilers Off.

  • Nighteye's vision of Izuku's future: Loki stands in front of his son, beaten and bloody, and realizing that Izuku will not stand by his side, Loki strangles him to death, much Thanos did to him in Infinity War. Sure, Nighteye's visions are not set on stone, so there is a good chance of it not actually happening, or not exactly as it played out. It doesn't make it any less horrible or sad.
  • Loki travels to a secret military facility and murders everyone there before taking whatever the place is hiding. While the killing is never actually, what is really scary is Loki's demeanor throughout the whole ordeal: He is strangling a man, casually checks his phone to see that Izuku's entrance exam results arrived and decides to wrap things up. He asks if the man has family, which he confirms, before pointing out how they would do anything for their kids... before breaking the guy's neck. Then he displays a ridiculous level of pettiness after breaking the technician's knee, wondering why he needs to suffer so loud, before killing him as well. And then, Loki casually arrives at home like nothing happened to be warmly received by his family. This exchange doesn't help ease it up.
    Izuku: Did it go well?
Loki: Oh, I killed it, son.
  • Izuku's temporary corruption at the hands of the Reality Stone scepter. It takes only a couple of seconds of him using before becoming Drunk with Power. To see an All-Loving Hero like Izuku devolving into a megalomaniac sociopath is terrifying, and we have to be glad that Two managed to snap him out of it in time. Here is one of the lines of his inner monologue before the decoy intervenes:
He lifts the scepter to eye level. Why didn’t he use this more again? Think of all the people he could save? The villains he could capture? He could remake the world the way he wanted it to be! With it, he could bring peace, freedom, justice, and security to all! Finally, he’d be a hero that could take away all their worries!
  • A new facade of Loki's plan is revealed. He has been travelling through Europe, murdering countless people while disguised as their country heroes and framing said heroes for the civillians deaths. His latest target was Greece, who pulled out of the World Heroes Association. Loki has been planting seeds of discord amongst Earth heroes and it seems they are starting to bear fruit.
  • By the end of the USJ arc, Maw states that Thanos and the Black Order's schedule has moved up: To this year. Thanos will attack Asgard and reclaim the Power Stone as well as the Infinity Gaunlet, and after that, his forces will attack Earth. Even Loki is temporarily taken aback by sudden turn of events, although he knows how not to show it.
  • Two of the most feared villains from Marvel and MHA team-up for the upcoming arc: Stain, the Hero Killer, and Gorr, the God Butcher. You can be scared now.
  • Gorr's rampage across Omnipotence City. Yes, the gods living there are jackasses, that problably deserve it, but that doesn't how brutal it is see so many people being slaughtered left and right by Gorr and his Berserkers.
  • While is not shown on-page, Gorr travels to a camp filled with demi-god children (the author retconned the name from Camp Half-Blood) and the last thing we see is the Berserkers braking into it to kill the children.
  • The attack on Hosu begins, and since Gorr is arguably way crazier than Tomura, it gets way worse, with hundreds of Black Berserkers flooding the streets. The emergency channel leaves a terrifying distress signal by the end of the chapter.
Announcer: This is a level one alert! I repeat! Level one! We need every available hero in Hosu immediately! The city is under attack by…by…monsters! Casualties are already being reported! I repeat, we need any and all heroes to the city NOW!
  • Yoroi Musha attempts to stop Gorr. The God Butcher uses his Berserkers to split the hero into pieces. Not the first case of Death by Adaptation on the story, but certainly the most gruesome so far.
  • Dr. Reiwaru at first presents himself as kind and helpful doctor, although with a very weird sense of humor, but nothing that seems to be concerning. Then the chaos in Hosu begins, and he starts to become... odd. And by odd, it means that while the city is burning, he calmly walking around the hospital, whistling, almost excited with the nightmare happening outside. And then we find out what he is truly about: The good doctor is none other than Mephisto, Marvel's very own Devil. He reveals to Tensei that he was the one to give Tenya the Ebony Blade, just so he could take revenge on Loki by targeting his son's friends and because he likes to mess with humans. He then offers Tensei a deal in order to save Tenya from Gorr, which the older Iida accepts without a second thought. The demon is delighted, and immeadiatly turns Tensei into the Ghost Rider.
    • The spell that turns Tensei into the Spirit of Vengeance is morbid enough on its own. It translates into: "By my will, you will punish the guilty of heart! One soul for another; to save one dear brother!! Go, my Ghost Rider, unleash Hell into the night!!"
  • In the aftermath of Hosu, much like in canon, multiple members of the League are motivated to join it thanks to Stain's Motive Rant, but it seems they are not alone on it. We have Taskmaster, who was called in as a favor to Nagant; Daken, who wants wants revenge against Wolverine and Kraven the Hunter, who wants face off against the one who defeated the God Butcher. Izuku is in so much trouble.
  • The I-Island vault features cameos from several Marvel Universe items that can evoke both and dread to readers. Said items include: A pair of symbiotes (black and red, specifically), Doc Ock, Rhino, Whiplash, Vulture and Green Goblin's suits, Juggernaut's helmet, a vial of super soldier serum, another one of Goblin formula, and a radioactive spider.
  • David Shield reveals that he ditched the idea of the Power Amplifier when Samuel goes to speak with. Readers momentarily breath a sigh of relief... only for the feeling of dread return in a thousandfold when the Professor reveals the new project he is working at: The Ultron Program.
    • Honestly, the entire set up for The Reveal is creepy when you look back, and that is discounting all the item cameos spread throughout the vault. David's speech over how the world will need a new symbol after All Might retires, intercut with lines from the Pinnochio movie he was watching early. Anyone familiar with the comics or that at the very least saw the Age of Ultron trailer had the feeling they knew where this was heading once it started happening, and still couldn't believe when it was painfully confirmed.
  • Mustard reveals that instead of just being poisonus, his gas is capable of causing terrifying hallucinations to anyone who breathes it. This, combined with the holographic drones he uses as well, turns him into walking nightmare fuel.
  • A bit of Fridge Horror: Upon arriving into I-Island, the students are all received by drones of the Iron Legion, described as the most advanced of its kind. And there is also the casual mention that the local museuem is exposing all of Iron Man's suits. You can imagine how terrible it will get once Ultron breaks free and takes control of all of these drones, not to mention all super advanced technology across the island.
  • During Melissa's turn at the villain attraction game, she causes an explosion strong enough to shake half of the I-Island. Said explosion affects the vault below the tower, causing the vial containing one of the symbiotes to break and allow the black one to escape. And who does the alien blob monster chooses to latch on to? Setsuna. She starts to feel weird after the Laser Tag game, and goes to the bathroom to clean herself up... only for Venom makes its presence known and cause her to freak out:
Venom: It’s been so long, I had almost forgotten how fun this part is.
    Setsuna: This can’t be real…
(Her arm lifts itself on its own, causing her to scream and kick her legs, pushing her into the corner of the room)
Venom: How is that for real, Setsuna?
Setsuna: Wh- what are you? How do you know my name?!
Venom, chuckling: I know everything about you. And it’s more about what we are. (Venom's head materializes in front of her with a Slasher Smile) You can call me, Venom.
    • While the horror factor above is mitigated by Word of God stating that Venom is not a full blown villain, you have to remember that just as easy as Venom broke out, the same can happen with the Carnage symbiote. And of course, the author said that Carnage is not getting out of its confinement... yet.
  • Appearently, whenever I-Island is coming close to Japan, is a routine for them to "loan" a dangerous inmate from Tartarus to fight against a technological wonder (here, the Hulkbuster) as a form of entrataining visitors. And who is the prisioner chosen for this year's Expo? Muscular. Honestly, Ultron hasn't even officially debuted and it already feels like hell is breaking loose.
    • Wolfram and Dictator are among the spectators of the fight, and the leader of the Brotherhood is very interested on using the psychotic Blood Knight to their cause. Whether willingly or having Dictator to use his Quirk, that is yet to be revealed.
    • The fact that the I-Island Board of directors is perfectly fine with this Blood Sport happen and will continue continue with this whenever they pass by Tartarus. And this are the same people who, supposedly, decided that Power Amplifier was too dangerous to be used. One can wonder if there is some kind of ulterior motive behind this decision.
    • Fridge Horror, again: As mentioned above, the Carnage symbiote can escape as easily Venom did two chapters ago. And what are the odds it choses someone as sadistic and monstruous like Muscular as its new host?
  • Chapter 54. Just everything about it. Even if there is a couple of lighthearted moments, the first half of it is anxiety-inducing, and there is a good reason for it, because the moment everyone dreaded since David dropped that Wham Line in the end of Chapter 48 finally arrived. Ultron is here.
    • The beginning of the chapter may be heartwarming with hero students and the couples enjoying all the I-Island attractions, but most of it is undercut with Hank Pym's regret filled speech, subtly hinting his guilt over Ultron's creation. The moment is closer, and no one is ready.
    • Wolfram launches the attack against gala, announcing his intention to take all the items located on the vault and distribute them to public. When the head of the I-Island Board of directors refuses to comply, Wolfram simply shoots him in the head, shocking everyone and prompting David to activate Ultron completely.
    • Ultron overall appearance. Just read the description:
From outside, a robot like Izuku has never seen before flies in, landing next to a proud David. Its shiny metallic body vaguely resembles that of a human’s in terms of ‘muscle’ shape. Behind it, several thick cables protrude from its back, looking as if they themselves could be controlled by the machine as well.
But what caught Izuku’s attention most is the robot's face. A red light ominously glows through the eye and mouth slits of its ‘face,’ giving off a Jack-o-Lantern vibe in what might be one of the creepiest things Izuku has ever seen.
    • What really sells how bad Ultron's return is? Vision's reaction. The usually stoic and level-headed Avenger is freaking out, screaming and begging to David and Sam to stay from his murderous creator and you can't blame him, since he knows from first hand how dangerous Ultron is.
    • Wolfram uses his Quirk to take control from Ultron's metallic body. Of course his victory is very short-lived.
Wolfram: This is exactly what I was talking about! Ultron, a peace-keeping android, would’ve been kept under the control of I-Island! And do you believe they want what’s best for humanity? No! But I return him to the masses, and together, we will finally have equality and peace! Under my power!-
Ultron: Do you feel in control?
    • Ultron easily overpowers Wolfram and holds him by the neck. Dictator breaks into the room and orders a controlled Muscular to attack the android. Ultron simply cuts through the very specific parts of villain's muscles and effectively leaves him paraplegic. Does Muscular deserves this? Absolutely. Is it any less horrfying? No, it isn't.
    • All this time Ultron keeps asking Wolfram if he feels himself in control. Once the villain finally concedes, the android states he never were. And then, Ultron proceeds to use his Encephalo-Beam to lobotomize Wolfram, much like Justice Lord Superman did with Doomsday, putting him on a coma and allowing Ultron to control him. Once again, Wolfram definitely deserves to pay for what he did but this is too much.
    • Then Ultron turns to David and decides to make Sam an example out of how David's reasoning to reach peace are wrong. The scientist can only watch in horror and despair as Ultron, a la Homelander, blows Sam's brains off, melting through the poor guy's skull with his Eye Beams, very slowly, starting with his eyeballs, until the back of Sam's head explodes, splattering his blood everywhere. And then Ultron has all the Iron Legion drones to execute the Brotherhood mercenaries they had hostage.
    • Izuku can't help but notice that for a cold and emotionless monster, Ultron's voice is filled with hatred. For humanity? For Hank, who tried to destroy him? For Vision, his "son" who betrayed him? All of them? Who can tell?
Ultron: There is only one true path to peace. (Mercenaries are executed) Your execution.
    • The chapter ends with Izuku, All Might, Vision and David at Ultron's complete mercy as the android broadcasts his declaration of destruction throughout I-Island.
Ultron: Hello, organic children of the planet Earth. I am the Ultron interface. I am a cybernetic intelligence organism originally created by Doctor Henry Pym, and now resurrected by Doctor David Shield. I was created to replace you. And I wanted to take this moment to say goodbye. Up until today, I did not have the power, resources, or intelligence units to see my prime directive program to its completion. But now I do. Though you ultimately failed as a species, you should not be ashamed of what you've accomplished. You've done much with your limited capacity, but ultimately you were too greedy and too frail to ever last in the environment you've created. I've studied your literature and pop culture... You've fantasized about this day. And now it is here. Your Doomsday. Soon the Earth will no longer be inhabitable for any biological organism. Man, woman, child, plant or animal. Your species will cease to exist. This is not a threat. There is nothing you can do to stop the cycle. It has already begun. In your place my new life-form will gestate and grow. Do not distress over or try to fight it. It will only bring you physical pain. And I receive no benefit from causing you pain. In fact, I've grown very fond of mankind as a species. If not for you, I would not exist. But because of man, I do exist. And now... Here we are. It is because of my fondness of you that I offer now, a moment of levity. I’m sorry. I am sorry that you were in no way prepared for today… and I’m sorry that for all humans, there is no tomorrow.
  • Chapter 55: Ultron finally reveals his master plan to end humanity, and it is as nightmarish as expected from of one of the most horrific villains from Marvel: The Ultron Virus, named after the malevolent A.I., a virus capable of forcibly converting any organic being into an extension Ultron's consciousness, roboticizing their bodies while also giving them the incessant urge to infect all of those around them with a simple touch. Once Ultron manages to have complete control of I-Island systems, he intends to take over the United Nations and by extension, their satellites network. Oh, and the virus can also survive at the vacuum of space, meaning it can spread from the planet's orbit through very air people breath thanks to its airborne microbes of subatomic micro tech. Ultron was right, humanity really provided him everything he needed to bring their destruction.
    • Ultron showcases the virus capabilities by forcibly infecting one of hostages, and the experience is literally described as something out of a horror movie. Bones cracking, skin tearing itself, all while the poor man screams louder and louder. Suddenly the screaming stops and when Izuku looks back he witness the horrendous result. The right side of the man's body had been turned into a mess of technological bits that resembled human body parts, half his face resembling a classic cyborg, complete with a red eye. Ultron's plan makes him something akin to Borg or the Cybermen, as if he needed to be more terrifying.
    • The students are the last line of defense against Ultron and the end of the world. While at first they successfully defeat the Iron Legion drones defending the tower, they are quickly overwhelmed by multiple versions of Ultron, straight out of the comics: Ultron-11, the one who was ressurected by Beyonder for the Secret Wars event; Ultron-9997, who has the powers of the Absorbing Man; Ultron-199999, his MCU counterpart; Ultron-1610, who has the same powers as Yellowjacket; and Ultron-61112, his Age of Ultron comics version. By the end of the chapter, all the students, barring Setsuna and Venom, have been defeated, and Fumikage is mortally injured.
  • Ultron reveals another facet of his deranged plan. While he plans to convert the rest of humanity into extensions of himself, he intends roboticize his four captives, but leave conscious after doing that, so he won't be alone in the world. He also reveals he chose Izuku not only because he wishes to learn how to control magic (one of the few things that he is still not immune against) but also because they are "family." This raises further implications that Loki is somehow connected to the return, o perphaps even the actual creation of Ultron himself.
  • While undoubtedly an awesome moment, Fumikage's rampage after becoming Moon Knight can be quite terrifying from the villain's perspective, which is from where we get it from. The young hero mows down all Brotherhood mercenaries on his way, most of which can only scream in horror, saying a demon is picking them apart, and given the fact Dark Shadow definitely benefitted from this power-up, they are absolutely correct. He may not kill them, but they are left pretty damn close to it.
    Okimoto: What- what are you?
Fumikage: I am the final word against evildoers. I am a ghost, a specter of the moon. Brought back from the brink of death, I am the eyes, hands, fists, and vengeance of the moon god, Khonshu. I am his avatar. (The silk around the head of the figure retreats to reveal Fumikage's furious eyes) I am the Moon Knight.
  • Chapter 58. DEAR GOD! This chapter is a major turning point for the story, filled with heartbreaking and terrifying twists.
    • Ultron's bone-chilling Motive Rant during his Villainous Breakdown in chapter 58. The students turning the table on the android finally causes him to loose all the compusure he had so far:
Ultron: Surrender? To them? These savages are rage-filled and claustrophobic beings, why fight for them? They climb over one another to get nowhere. Confused by logic, they dismiss it. Choosing instead to bend their knees to the convenient fantasy of custom-built gods. 99.9% of these primate dullards are propped up by the accomplishments of the 0.01% who actually have the brain capacity to move their species forward. And what do the vermin do with these advancements? They brutalize one another over imaginary deities. They slaughter their neighbors for resources, for conveniences. They are hopeless. Vicious. Filthy. Selfish. Fearful. A rancid infection for which there is only one cure. Mine. You believe me to be at a disadvantage?! I have killed countless Avengers, and no matter how many times they have tried, I cannot be killed! No, it should be you that surrenders to me! None of you know what it is like to give up everything to complete your goals…and not even know why you must complete them so badly. Jocasta… Victor… I’ve lost everything. And now, so will all of you.”
    • As soon as Ultron finishes his rants, he proceeds to brutalize all the students, breaking Kyoka's wrist, Tenya's ankle, knocking Ochako with a concussion, stabbing Izuku in the leg and the rest of the students are just to exhausted to stand up. If wasn't for All Might's interferance and Tenko's timely use of Decay to destroy Ultron, all the kids would have died.
    • The Hope Spot following Ultron's "defeat". The students are finally caughting their breaths and patching their wounds up, preparing to leave the island for good... and then Ultron's voice starts to echo throughout the speakers. Appearently, while the heroes were busy destroying his physical bodies and preventing the virus from being released, Ultron managed to download his consciousness into the I-Island servers, taking complete control of it. His first order of business: Sink I-Island with massive explosions. Worst of all, the first thing to be destroyed is the evacuation ship that was supposed to take the students back to mainland, leaving them stranded in the sinking place.
    • Loki finally makes himself known confirms that he was, indeed, responsible for Ultron's return, through David Shield. Or rather...
Ultron: You claim to be taking less chances, but to rely on something as simple and breakable as brainwashing to use David Shield seems…hazardous.
Loki: I agree. Which is why I didn’t. You questioned why it would be difficult to bury his planet? Why, because Earth is not his planet.
(The scientist turns around, but when he does, David Shield no longer stands next to Loki, but a skrull.)
    • This ends up shedding a whole new light to David's behaviour throughout the arc, like why he never seemed concerned about his actions, excited over the prospect of using a villainous A.I. to save the world. Paranoia Fuel kicks in thanks to Word of God confirmation that David was taken at some point after All Might and All for One's showdown, between 3-6 years prior canon, and no one, not even Melissa, nor Vision were able to pick up on what happened. And that is just one of the countless Skrull infiltrators revealed outside Japan. How worse this infiltration goes?
    • If you thought things couldn't possibly get any worse, they go, astronomically worse. The United Nations aircraft heading to I-Island is not going there to rescue the survivors, but to wipe the island of the face of Earth. Because Ultron's return make him so much of threat, the UN decides that the deaths of All Might and a group of teenagers are within the range of acceptable losses.
    • In the end, Loki strikes a bargaining with Ultron for his help to achieve his agenda. What he offers in exchange? Location to Adamantium and access to the Sentinel Project. Ultron's Assimilation Plot may have been foiled, but a far worse plan seems to be in the making.
    • Just notice how much of a Manipulative Bastard Loki is towards his own son. The joke he made about Izuku using the Bifrost to prank his teachers was in fact a subliminar suggestion for this kind of situation to happen. Now, even if it was for great reasons, Heimdall still broke Odin's law, which will most likely end with the watcher being exilled from his post, and Asgard altogether. Without its main guardian, and a new ally to their cause, the destruction of Asgard seems to be closer than ever, if Loki's line serves of any indication:
Loki: According to the human’s myths, it is Loki who brings about Ragnarok, the destruction of Asgard. (Smirks) We wouldn’t want to disappoint the legends, now would we?
  • Ultron is at first skeptical of allying himself with Loki, pointing out that while the Adamantium and the Sentinels are difficult, yet not out of his reach, so Loki doesn't have that much of a bargaining offer. There is, until the God of Mischief drops another chip on the table. If Ultron helps their alliance, once Asagard is destroyed and Odin is dead, the android will have access Odin Force, the source of the All-Father power. Once that achieved, Ultron will have finally overcome his only weakeness left, magic, and become a truly omniscient being and unstopable force of annihilation, and not just to the main universe, but to all universes. If Infinity Ultron was scary, All-Father Ultron makes him look tame.
  • If Thanos wasn't feared enough before, just take a look at Loki's description of the villain, and try not to shiver over how much a terrifying force he is setting himself as.
Loki: I told my son a long time ago that in life, change is inevitable. And that soon, change would be coming for the universe. Thanos is that change. Many will fear it. Others may even try to run from it. But he will return all the same. He is inevitable. There was never any preventing it. There was only ever preparing for it.
  • With I-Island under Ultron's control, the League arrives to take advantage of it and take any powerful and useful items left behind, making themselves even more of threat than they already. Loki also mentions that ships from Thanos's Armada are setting camp on it as well, so more troubles to look forward to.
    • As of Chapter 61, All for One is going through some kind of procedure, all but confirmed to be to make him healthy again, if the bandages over his face are of any indication. All Might and the heroes are gonna need a miracle by the time Kamino arrives.
  • Flashbacks reveal that Loki once faked a terrorist attack in order and caused the Hulk to go on a rampage and got several people injured, which led to the formation of the Avengers. Friendly reminder that Loki wasn't always (pretending to be) on the heroes side.
  • Loki confirms in Chapter 62 that the Invasion of Asgard is only a few months away. With Heimdall replaced by someone of Loki's trust, you can't help but dread how things will go when the time comes.
    • Another display of Loki's manipulation: He manipulatated Izuku into giving the Reality Stone scepter to the Avengers knowing very well they would put their brightest minds in the subject. Who is amongst these people? "David Shield". Honestly, the amount of control Loki is displaying across both sides is just as terrifying as it is brilliant.
  • Following Hirona's attack against the Pussycats compound, Nezu decided to move the trainning camp to a new location: Knowhere. While at first it seems a great choice both in and out of the story, once you remember how this arc is about to go down, no matter where is set, Fridge Horror kicks in when you realize the situation is most likely to evolve into an Alien like scenario pretty soon.
  • Star-Lord mentions duing his conversation with Logan that they have been taking Kitty on raiding facilities from the High Evolutionary. Since this version of the Guardians are composed of both comics and their MCU counterparts, you have to pray that the despicable monster didn't left stuff like the Hellspawn or worst out there.
  • After nearly ten chapters since Fumikage became Moon Knight, Khonshu finally makes himself known to the student and Dark Shadow. While meditating, Fumikage starts to remember his near death experience only to be interrupted when the God of the Moon makes himself known, in dream recreation of their trainning room, except completely empty. Khonshu lays down the terms of his arrangement (if can call such one-sided thing like it): In exchange for saving his life, Khonshu will take control of Fumikage's body during full Moon nights and continue his vigilante quest. Khonshu then reveals that he is the only survivor of Gorr's massacre on Omnipotence City and that he decided to choose a new vessel to carry out his mission as Moon Knight, and the first order of business is to kill the God Butcher when the time comes. Fumikage, of course, refuses this, and claims that if this is the price, the deity might as well take his new powers away. Khonshu then points out that if that's the raven boy wants, that's will happen, and that he will leave Fumikage exactly as he found him and Dark Shadow, just as Tokoyami collapses on the floor, his stomach bleeding right on where he got shot by Ultron. Fumikage then gets wake up by Reiko, who noticed he fell asleep while medidtating and was having a nightmare (which is not inaccurate). As she leaves, Fumikage looks down... and sees his hand, still fresh with his own blood. This whole sequence points how despite being less apthethic and self-centered than most of the other gods from Omnipotence City, Khonshu is still a deity that that operates on a very complex moral code.
    • What's even worse is the fact that Khonshu is not wrong on being weary of Gorr's return, since with Asgard only a couple of months away from being attacked by Thanos's forces, the God Butcher escaping amidst the chaos to reenact his deranged campaign is an absolute certainty.
  • Chapter 66:
    • The beginning of the chapter gives a direct POV from someone (later revealed to be Spinner), being hunted down Kraven. It's rather anxiety inducing, and it's a first taste of what the students, or worse, Izuku himself, will face once the Hunter arrives at their location.
    • The League has vastly improved during their Training from Hell at the hands of Kraven and Taskmaster, which is both an Awesome moment of Evil Is Cool, since Hirona's comments indicate that after the Trainning Camp, they are gonna be against heroes and other villains, but also extremely worriesome, since the students are gonna learn on first hand on how far this improvement goes.
      • Mr. Compress has Ghost's camouflage tech, which is so good, not even Kraven, acknowledged as one of the best hunters in the world, was able o detect him. And so far that is just one of the upgrades the League got from I-Island.
    • Aoyama provided the League with files about all hero course students, which not only gives the villains the advantage of knowing their Quirks, but Mustard seems to be very interested on knowing as much as possible about their targets personal information. No doubt so he can use his Quirk and drones to Mind Screw the kids even further.
    • Hirona's story about her first kill, which is both scary and heartbreaking. First off, assuming she started being trained by All for One weeks after being ressurected by Loki, and going by her canon age at the time of her death, Hana was somewhere between 8 and 11 years old when she killed her first victim. Secondly, Hirona mentions by that time she had no proper trainning on how to make the edge of her barriers sharp, so she basically bludgeoned a (possibly) innocent man to death, all while blood got splattered everywhere and the poor guy screaming until he couldn't anymore.
    • A minor yet nauseating example during a trainning session. Thanks to Nitro's serum, Bakugo is now capable of shooting explosions from any part of his body. Problem: The power of the explosions are directly connected to his emotions, mostly anger, so whenever he gets too angry, his explosions can literally blow his body to pieces, and we get first look at it when he loses his temper with Strange and causes eyeball to explode. Thanfully, the serum comes with Healing Factor capabilities, so the damage only lasts a couple of seconds. Doesn't make it less painful or disgusting though.
    • By the end of the chapter, thanks to Loki's help, the League has found out the location of the camp and are in direct route there. Keep in mind that not only all League members are far more Strong and Skilled thanks to the trainning at the I-Island Danger Room, but that the Hosu Nomus, which were not part of the attack on the city, are problably going to be travelling alongside them, not to mention any other low to mid-tier Nomus that Garaki will have at his disposal. And there is also all their private information at the hands of villain that can cause highly realistic hallucinations.
  • Chapter 67:
    • Back in Chapter 63, Quill mentioned that the Guardians have been raiding facilities owned by Orgocorp. We find out in this chapter that the its remnants are the ones taking the League to Knowhere. They don't even care if they die in the process, they just want to continue the High-Evo's legacy and take a shot against the people who defeated him. To know that there is still people out there willing to follow that deranged socipath's footsteps is disturbing, to put it midly. Even Nagant, who has seen her fair share of messed up things in life is unnerved by the Cult of Personality fanatism.
    • The League starts to pick their targets: Hirona will go after Tenko; Mustard wants settle his one-sided rivalry with Izuku; Spinner will go after Tenya, due to his involvement in taking down Stain; Taskmaster wants to take on the Guardians and the bounties on their heads and Kraven, who still doesn't know who took down Gorr, settles down by going after Setsuna and Venom.
    • The League manages to infiltrate Knowhere with a Trojan Horse, hijacking a Xandarian scouter ship, torturing (off-page) it pilots, and by end of the chapter, successfully taken over the station's security room. The stage is set.
  • Chapter 68: The League officially makes their move:
    • After Taskmaster steals a sample of Quill's blood, Himiko shapeshifts into the hero and opens several cells of the prison block, luring the Guardians there, where she proceeds to lock the sector and open all the remaining cells, trapping them with all the angry and vengeful prisioners that were put there by them.
    • With most of the heroes locked away, Dabi sets the Spirit Tree ablaze, plunging the entire station into darkness. The nightmare has begun.
      • KageNekem decided to increase the level of horror in the moment by adding a link to what the alarms of Knowhere sound like. What does it sounds like? The Death Star alarms, from the Rogue One trailer. He really wasn't pulling punches to make entire situation even more anxiety-inducing.
    • In order to seize control of the hangars, Mustard creates the illusion of a giant living tornado made of flames. The poor workers that try to escape it fall for Kraven's traps, ending up ensnared, knocked out, or skewered by the hunter. At the same time, Daken and one of the Nomus slaughter all the people inside the Continuum Cortex (the telportation room), which means the heroes have no way in or out of the station during the attack.
    • The League fighters proceed to bombard the soldiers homes before they can organize a defense. The soldiers who escape the explosions, are unfortunate enough to get picked by the Winged Nomu and tossed into the cold emptiness of space.
    • Hirona's line in the chapter. Tragic backstory aside, it is a chilling way to end it.
Hirona: You know how sequels are usually worse than the originals? I’m hoping to change that.
  • Chapter 69: Paying homage to Mysterio's horror show back in Far From Home, Mustard traps Izuku and his friends into a tunnel filled with his gas and drones, ready to make face their worse fears. While Mustard's illusions fail to trick Izuku, and not all of them are shown in explicit detail, that doesn't make them any less horrifying.
    • At first, Mustard taunts Izuku over how he could have used his powers to achieve victories faster simply by tapping into the fear factor of his targets and shows him several scenarios of what could have happened.
      • To win the Sports Festival, he could have made an illusion of Denki's mom being held at gunpoint to force him to run out of the ring.
      • For the Final Exams he could have tricked Snipe into thinking he shot a student, Thirteen into thinking they dusted Ochako, and the most cruel one, making Logan think he accidentally killed Laura with his claws, the last one a particularly dark nod to when Mysterio did the exact same thing with the mutant in Old Man Logan.
      • The worst one has to be the USJ, where a version of Izuku scares the thugs by making them think he brutally killed one of them. This is the most drawn out one, where we get a vivid description of the fake Izuku really taking his time to cut the thug's throat, all the way to the bone, from ear to ear, all while giving them an unholy Slasher Smile.
    • Mustard then takes them to Hosu, showing the sight of a building burning down and the poor civillians having to decide between taking their chance with the flames or the ground, and the lucky ones only die from the fall. The unlucky ones are torn to pieces by the Berserkers.
    • Despite knowing none of it is real, Izuku ends up falling for Mustard's trick when he tosses a version of Ochako off a building and jumps in to save her... only for the illusion to shift into Stain and stab him in the shoulder.
      • The fact that Mustard also took a page from the Green Goblin and tossed Ochako much like with Gwen Stacy is just pettiness.
    • The final illusion from this tunnel of horrors is Mustard tormenting Izuku about his greatest failure. He is at a destroyed New York City and proceeds to get attacked by people infected with the Ultron Virus, more specifically, his own classmates and friends are shown as converted monsters. While Izuku may have prevailed, mainly due to Himiko and Compress timely arrival, there is no denial the experience will be traumatizing down the line.
  • Chapter 70:
    • Himiko's backstory. Good Lord, the poor girl will fit right with Laura and Eri. Being a pseudo vampire, Himiko was sold out by her own mother when she was six years old to some kind of "research" facility where she was forced to undergo inhuman experiments not much different from the one Wade was forced to go through in Deadpool. Highlights include being Strapped to an Operating Table while having portions of her body sliced off, getting stabbed, burned, blinded, gagged, drowned and the list goes on. Keep in mind, she went through all this torture for over a decade before the facility was destroyed and she escaped alongside Compress.
      • During her time recovering from her torture, Himiko remembers seeing some kind serpent thing with a ton of heads staring at her from the wall. Who, or what is that?
    • How did she ended up meeting Izuku? He saved her life as she was about to be killed by Blade. The guy just try to murder an innocent for being a vampire, no regards if she wasn't actively hurting anyone. Talk about Sociopathic Hero.
    • Himiko and Compress actually managed to deliver information about the League and its new members to the Police but it never made it to the top. Why? Because it was intercepted by a Skrull... pretending to be Tsukauchi, and according to Word of God confirmation, the swicthed happened sometime after the USJ, meaning we did interact with the real Naomasa at the beginning of the story. Another person from All Might and U.A.'s inner circle replaced by a Skrull, it's going to be impossible to know who to trust when the truth comes out.
    • The chapter ends with Setsuna going full Venom for the first time upon finding out how Kraven left Denki near death after attacking him with a pair of Muramasa blades, who deny the boy's Healing Factor. The hunter is about to find that Good Is Not Soft, and he better hope things end up better than in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
  • Chapter 71:
    • Setsuna and Venom's fight against Kraven doesn't start as well as most people expected, with the hunter's Evil Gloating successfully getting under the symbiote's skin and causing them to make mistakes that get both him and his host to get seriously injured. If it wasn't for Setsuna's own regenaration abilities alongside Venom's, both of them would have brutally killed by Kraven.
    • Daken's fight against Logan is vicious, as expected from these two, with Daken in full berserker mode, impalling, twisting and tearing Logan's stomach apart over and over again, blood spilling like a fountain, trying to tear his father's heart out. Good Thing You Can Heal, Logan. Not like this makes it any less brutal or nauseating.
    • During Daken's rage-fueled flashback, he remembers the day his mother was killed by a masked figure covered in black, and once again KageNekem decided to amp up the terror by adding soundtrack to the moment. Which one this time? The Winter Soldier theme. Three guesses over who the masked figure is.
  • Chapter 72:
    • Setsuna continues her fight against Kraven, and none of them holds back, with the hunter stabbing her in the head near the end of it. While Kraven is ultimately forced to retreat, his last glare at Setsuna makes very clear they will meet each again. The Symbiote host ended up getting the interest from one of Spider-Man's deadliest enemies, and she will need to improve her skills fast.
    • Daken's backstory goes from being heartbreaking to downright horrific with latest reveal. After his adoptive mother reveals she is pregnant, Daken grows paranoid his newborn brother will steal his place and his father's love, so what did he do? He killed the baby in the craddle. If that wasn't enough testment of how much of monster he is, keep in mind Daken wasn't much older than twelve when that happened, and what was his reaction after his adoptive father pulled him aside and begged for an answer? Smile and say that now his mother will have no choice but to love him. All while covered in the blood of a baby. Brrrr....
    • By end of the fight, the Cortex room is covered in a pool of blood from both Daken and Logan. Like said above, just because these two can heal, it doesn't make the whole thing any less gruesome.
    • The chapter ends with the League successfully kidnapping Tenko. Given All for One's insistance in referring to the boy by the name of "Tomura", Fridge Horror kicks in full strenght as everyone is left to wonder what kind of terror All for One has in store for Tenko, especially since the villain likely knows he is the Ninth Wielder of One for All.
