"You're mine, (Name). That's the decision I've made and I'm never going to change my mind."-Masky.

Demented Affections is a fanfiction written by Quotev author Merrin D in early 2016. The story is currently ongoing and features characters from Creepypasta, Marble Hornets, and Everyman HYBRID.

The story centers on the reader herself, who finds mysterious notes from an unknown stalker, after her younger brother, Victor, is attacked while the two of them are alone for the week. The stalker is revealed to be none other than Masky, who threatens the reader to either submit to him, or he’ll kill Victor. She resists at first, but gives herself up to protect Victor, and is taken away. The story then shifts between the reader trying to find a way out of her situation, and Victor trying to find his sister with the help of a specter known only as Blue.

This Fan Fic contains examples of:

  • Abduction Is Love\Stalker with a Crush: How the story begins.
  • Adults Are Useless: The reader and Victor’s parents do almost nothing when both of their children go missing, Olivia’s parents put business above their daughter, and the police don’t do anything at all despite promising to search for Victor.
  • Ascended Extra: Olivia only makes two appearances in the earlier chapters before suddenly becoming part of the main cast in New Friends and More Nightmares.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Habit says this is the type of ending he wants if he can’t just have a full out dark ending.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Victor in Going Home.
  • Breather Episode: Fun At The Carnival.
  • Captain Obvious Reveal: Tim and Brian are revealed to be Masky and Hoodie at the end of Panic Attack.
  • Cheerful Child: Victor.
  • Advertisement:
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: In Regards, Olivia has her legs broken, has her hair ripped out of her scalp, gets beaten to the point of severe bruises and lacerations, and her heart is ripped out of her chest.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Brian at times.
Demonic Possession: Olivia gets possessed by Habit twice.
  • Don't Go in the Woods: The reader gives Victor this warning at the start of the story. He doesn’t listen, which kickstarts the events of the story.
  • Desecrating the Dead: Habit moves Olivia’s corpse around like a ragdoll by holding it by her hair while he mockingly mimics her last words, before calling her pathetic.
  • Dies Wide Open: Olivia.
  • Dramatic Irony: The reader gives herself up to protect Victor, which causes Victor to leave home with Blue to try and find her, which results in Victor being deemed a missing person by the authorities.

  • Dream Land: Victor is put in one after he gets possessed by Blue.
  • Evil-Detecting Dog: Olivia’s three pets show aggressive behavior to Tim, Brian, and Habit.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Olivia and Habit have quite a few shippers, despite Olivia despising his very existence, while his feelings towards her are left unclear, as he switches between threatening her to giving her friendly advice. The ship itself might either come from in Consequences when he talks about using her body to partake in sexual acts, before brushing it off as a joke as "he’s not into that kind of stuff", or in Thank You, when he calls her Sweetie.
  • Heroic BSoD: The reader experiences more than one of these. Victor also has one in Just A Small Request, but he quickly recovers.
  • I Just Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Tim\Masky slowly enters this mindset after experiencing the reader’s personal problems first hand.
  • Mayfly–December Friendship\Intergenerational Friendship: Because he is already dead, Blue is an immortal specter who was confirmed to be an adult at the time of his death, while Victor is a normal human child. Despite this, Blue considers Victor a good friend.
  • Meaningful Name: Olivia’s full name is Olivia Evans. The name becomes meaningful when you realize Olivia’s last name was revealed after she was possessed by Habit. If you remove the s at the end, Olivia’s last name is the same as the first name of the character Habit possesses in EMH.
  • Nightmare Fuel Coloring Book: Victor had made lots of… questionable drawings by the time he meets Blue.
  • Oblivious Adoption: Victor is completely oblivious to the fact that he was adopted, and his real parents are dead, as they're waiting for when he's 18 to tell him.
  • Occult Blue Eyes: Victor has these after getting possessed.
  • Original Character: Olivia and Victor. There’s a chance that Blue and Red might not qualify as this trope if something that’s heavily hinted at ends up being true.
  • Plucky Girl: Olivia.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Red and Blue.
  • Rotating Protagonist: The reader, Blue, and Olivia all seem to hold the title of the main character at some point.
  • Ship Sinking: The titular ship between Masky and the reader has been sunk on multiple occasions, due to the reader making it clear that she only feels deep hatred towards him. Olivia\Brian(Hoodie) was sunk when the author said they wouldn’t be a couple in response to comments left by people who feared that they would be one. And the aforementioned Olivia\Habit ship was sunk when Habit killed Olivia.
  • Shout-Out: The special “what if?” chapter contains a reference to Super Danganronpa 2 in which the reader alludes to Nagito Komaeda after Victor tells her not to lose hope.
  • Shrug of God: Merrin D goes out of her way to avoid answering the question of whether or not Red and Blue are actually Alex Kralie and Jay Merrick, going to some comedic lengths to not give a direct answer, such as looking like she’s about to give their real names only to get interrupted by a fourth wall break.
  • Symbiotic Possession: Victor and Blue. The two become friends during their time together, and Blue’s reason for possessing Victor was to protect him.
  • The Ghost: The Slenderman is referenced multiple times by various characters throughout the story, but has yet to make an actual appearance.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Red, Blue, Brian and Tim were apparently all friends at some point, until something went wrong between the four of them.
  • What If?: After gaining 500 hearts, a special chapter was published that served as an alternate ending to the first chapter, where the reader goes back into the house with Victor, they both get Masky to go away, and they get better windows so Masky can’t get in.
  • Where Did We Go Wrong?: Red asks this question after Blue snaps at him to shut up.
  • Word of God: Similar to the what if chapter, after the story reached 1000 hearts, another special chapter was published where the author answered questions from readers alongside most of the characters. This chapter revealed Brian’s exact motives, along with the fact that Red killed Blue.
  • Vague Age: Victor is the only one with a confirmed age, being 7 years old. It's revealed in Origin Story that the reader was 10 when Victor was adopted, making her 17.
  • Villainous Crush: The first question in the Q&A chapter asks Habit if he has a crush on Olivia, to which Habit doesn’t directly answer. Olivia hopes he meant to say no, and Brian jokingly says he ships them.
  • Yandere: Tim\Masky to the reader, although his behavior in more recent chapters is implying that the trope is slowly becoming subverted in this case.
