Charlotte Reinout
Click here to see her as Seo Woori:

A young woman who wakes up one day in the body of the main character of her favorite novel. Having a huge crush on Lancelot, she dedicates herself to helping him find happiness and be with someone who loves him.

  • Distracted by the Sexy: Woori tends to get sidetracked from whatever she’s doing because Lancelot is just that handsome. Later balanced out with Cuteness Proximity as Lancelot shows more of his soft side to her.
  • Fangirl: Woori's a huge fan of Lancelot. She was the president of his fan club online, and cried when she found out he dies at the end of the novel. Imagine how excited she was when she found herself in Charlotte's body with her favorite character serving her!
  • Genre Savvy: When she meets Duke Vestia for the second time and realizes he’s trying to court her, she thinks of romance stories where the male lead falls in love after the female lead hits or berates him.
    • Also when Mephisto tries to tempt her into making a bargain with him to go back home, Woori denies him by comparing his deal to the corporate world:
Woori: You should never sign a contract that’s ambiguous and full of sweet talk!! It could be a shady company!
  • Important Haircut: What Woori does after finding out what happened to the original Charlotte at the end of the story. Woori didn't like her, but thought it was proper to send her off as it was because of her Woori could meet and be with Lancelot.
  • Mystical White Hair: Charlotte's silvery-white hair, paired with the Candentia's divine power, gives Woori a mysterious, magical look.
  • Next Life as a Fictional Character: Woori wakes up in the body of Charlotte Reinout, the protagonist of "The Flower Raises Her Sword".
  • Parental Abandonment: Woori’s parents divorced when she and her brother were younger. Both were treated badly until they were adults and left to live together. Woori notes while seeing Mephisto’s vision of her brother that her parents didn’t show for her funeral.

    Lancelot

Lancelot the Roshan

Lancelot the Roshan

Charlotte’s loyal butler, who has an unrequited crush on his mistress. He is Woori’s favorite character in the novel. Unbeknownst to Woori, he’s also a powerful magician and the master of the Magic Tower.

  • Battle Butler: Lancelot is not only capable with a sword, but is a powerful magician and the master of the magic tower.
  • I Just Want to Be Loved: Lancelot was abandoned by his parents, then Fatima, and then by Charlotte. The poor guy just wants to be loved and not abandoned like a dog in a box. Woori subverts this once she and Lancelot fall in love.
  • The Jeeves: Lancelot does his job flawlessly, to the point where the other servants in the Reinout mansion consider him their leader. This also applies to many of the magicians in the magic tower as well.
  • Parental Abandonment: Lancelot went through this twice: his original parents abandoned him on the streets after discovering he was a magician, and then his mentor, Fatima, left him at the magic tower to becomes their master. He has abandonment issues as a result and clings to whoever shows him any kind of affection.
  • Unrequited Love: He was in love with the original Charlotte since childhood. However, she did not care that much for him, finding him "tiresome". In the original novel, he destroys everyone but himself and Duke Vestia when Charlotte is killed. In the new timeline, Charlotte leaves him behind when she makes her deal with Mephisto. He's near ready to blow himself up and his surroundings if Woori didn't step in and change his life for the better.

Supporting Characters

    Fatima

Fatima the Red Dragon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_05_22_at_60956_pm.png
Fatima (in her default form)

The dragon that oversees time, Fatima can take on the form of a red-headed human and alter her age to suit her needs. She travels around the world to observe humans and have fun. She adopted Lancelot as her son and taught him magic, but abandoned him at the magic tower to make him the master.

  • Beware the Silly Ones: She might act flippant and carefree, but make no mistake: she has killed many and destroyed lives in a whim.
  • The Mourning After: She spit fire over half a kingdom for ten days after her husband Casper was killed. She would spend the next few centuries wandering the world, partly to forget what happened to her and partly to search for the demon who killed Casper.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Fatima is called the Red Dragon, but she is rarely seen in her dragon form. Her human form is able to shapeshift into different ages, from a little kid to an elderly woman.

    Arash

Arash

An angel that appears before Woori while she was researching how to control the Candentia. He becomes Woori's teacher in how to control her divine power. Despite being over 100 years old, he looks and acts like a little kid.

  • Guardian Angel: He essentially acts as one for Woori, guiding her in learning how to hone the Candentia properly.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Arash looks and acts like a child, but is at least 100 years old. Young for an angel, according to Lancelot, but still old by human standards.
  • Sweet Tooth: He can usually be found eating a giant plate of cake or candy when he’s not doing his divine duties.

    Gallian

Gallian

One of the magicians of the magic tower. Lancelot is the closest to him out of all the magicians. He’s half-demon.

  • Child Prodigy: He’s still quite young, but he’s a powerful enough mage to be respected by Lancelot, the leader of the magic tower, and he’s invented several magical tools of use, such as a communication device made from a bird, and a pill that simulates demonic energy.
  • Defends Against Their Own Kind: Gallian researches demons and their magic in order to help others, despite being half-demon.
  • Human-Demon Hybrid: He’s half-demon, which has caused some concerns regarding his trustworthiness. Thankfully, he’s a good kid who loves magic.

    Faid

Faid

One of the magicians of the magic tower. He acts as the de facto leader when Lancelot is not around.

  • Green Thumb: He specializes in plant magic, or more specifically unusual plant magic.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He’s just hit 150 years old, and he still looks quite young.

Enemies

    Duke Vestia

Duke Leonard Stringer Vestia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_05_22_at_60842_pm.png
Duke Vestia

A powerful nobleman with close ties to the imperial family, Charlotte's former fiancé. In pursuit of power, he destroyed the Reinout family (with the exception of Charlotte) and made a deal with Mephisto so he can claim the throne of the Tieris Empire for himself. He ends up falling in love with Charlotte after Woori enters her body.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Woori is not happy about Duke Vestia’s crush on her, or his attempts to woo her. She finds him to be a disgusting man who ruined the lives of everyone around him.
  • Deal with the Devil: He made a bargain with Mephisto, covering three wishes: to claim the throne of the Empire, to win over Charlotte (Woori) and to obtain the power of the Candentia for himself.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: He finally learns what true love is by sacrificing himself to save Woori from Charlotte and Mephisto. Though he does repent to Heaven's court for his actions and is able to go be reincarnated instead of ceasing to exist.
  • It's All About Me: He is ruthless in his quest for power, willing to destroy families and make deals with demons to get what he wants. The only time he ever acted selflessly was during his final moments, sacrificing himself to save Woori.
  • Love at First Punch: When he first met the new Charlotte (Woori) at a ball, her insults towards him and indifference fascinate, falling in love with her.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: He has a wide variety of nobles under his thumb, which makes him a valuable ally to the Emperor. He uses said connections to get away with his crimes, including destroying Charlotte’s family.
  • Unrequited Love: After meeting the new Charlotte (aka Woori) at a ball, he becomes fascinated by her sudden change in behavior, falling in love with her in the process. She cannot stand him and his attempts to seduce her.
  • Villainous Crush: He falls in love with Woori upon meeting her, never mind that Woori despises him or that he’s the reason everything fell apart in the original timeline.

    Princess Sierra

Princess Sierra (the original Charlotte Reinout)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_05_22_at_60802_pm.png
Princess Sierra
Click here to see her as the original Charlotte:

The Tieris Empire's only princess. Sister to the emperor and Duke Vestia's current fiancé.

In reality, her body is being occupied by the original Charlotte Reinout, in order to be with Duke Vestia. She grows resentful of Woori after she takes over her old body and does whatever she can to get rid of her and the Reinout house, so they don't get in the way of her and Duke Vestia's plans.

  • Deal with the Devil: She makes many bargains with Mephisto, including the bargain to switch bodies with the real Princess Sierra so she can be Duke Vestia's fiancé.
  • Fatal Flaw: Obsession. Her Unrequited Love of Duke Vestia blinds her to the things around her that should matter more. The more bargains she makes with Mephisto, the more her obsession grows, until she is willing to become a demon herself to get Vestia to notice her.
    • Envy: She is resentful of Woori's healthy relationship with Lancelot, and her ability to woo Duke Vestia when he won't give her the time of day. When Duke Vestia dies to save Woori, she snaps so hard she spends the rest of the final battle single-mindedly chasing Woori to kill her out of spite.
    • Recklessness: She jumps head-first into situations without thinking about the long-term consequences. When Duke Vestia is kidnapped, she wants to go straight after his kidnappers, not listening to Mephisto's warning that it's an obvious trap.
  • Unrequited Love: She has an enormous crush on Duke Vestia (never minding that he's responsible for the death of her entire family). No matter what she does, though, he never looks her way once, only giving her a scrap of attention when he feels like it.
  • Unrequited Tragic Maiden: The novel portrays Charlotte as this. She loves Duke Vestia, even though he’s the one who destroyed her family. He doesn’t love her at all, only faintly interested in her due to her lineage, and then drops his engagement with her to marry Princess Sierra so he can take over the country. This marks the beginning of all the tragic events to follow. In the new timeline, while still tragic, she’s become the main antagonist to Woori because of jealously— for wooing Duke Vestia (even though she hates him) and for having a better love life than her.
  • Yandere: She's obsessed with Duke Vestia, willing to keep him confined and bound by demonic energy so that he can't leave her.

    Mephisto

Mephistopheles (Hevron Reinout)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screenshot_2023_05_22_at_61322_pm.png
Mephisto

A demon several centuries old. He makes deals with those who are suffering or can be easily taken advantage of. He was the one who helped Charlotte obtain Princess Sierra's body and granted both her and Duke Vestia power.

  • Demonic Possession: He is possessing the body of his twin brother, Casper Reinout. He’s also capable of poessessing other hosts that have made contracts with him.
  • Mirror Character: Duke Vestia and Mephisto had a lot in common once Mephisto’s past is revealed. Both are ruthless men seeking the power of the Candentia for their own uses; both fall for a woman who is disgusted by them and loves someone else who’s kinder by comparison; and both attack the woman and her fiancé during their ceremony. Mephisto, however, differs in that the woman and the other man were Fatima and Casper Reinout, his twin brother. And unlike Duke Vestia, Mephisto killed his brother and possessed his body to get revenge on both of them.
  • Smug Snake: He’s a devious, Manipulative Bastard who utilizes a person’s negative emotions for his own gain.
  • Villainous Crush: He had feelings for Fatima when he was a human, willing to kill his brother and possess his body so she could be his.

Others

    Emperor Cloud

Emperor Cloud Davir Elesfana Tieris

The Emperor of the Tieris Empire, the setting of the novel. He is not the strongest ruler, relying on the strength of other influential nobles to sustain his power. He’s Princess Sierra’s older brother.

  • Opportunistic Bastard: He allies with Woori and Lancelot only after he witnesses Lancelot’s incredible power, and takes advantage of his newfound connection by sending both of them out to help other territories with issues.
  • Sibling Murder: Emperor Cloud meets his end by being choked out by Princess Sierra, who the former recognizes is not his sister seconds before his death.

    Casper **UNMARKED SPOILERS**

Casper Reinout

Charlotte's descendant, a kind gentleman with great control over the Candentia. He met Fatima and fell in love with her, but his brother murdered him on his and Fatima's wedding day, taking his body for himself. His spirit lingered on in the ring Fatima wears, able to be summoned as a divine horse for her to ride.

  • The Lost Lenore: He is Fatima’s long-dead husband, but she’s still mourning him after all these years.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: Casper's spirit lingers on even after his death, residing in Fatima's wedding ring. He can still manifest himself as her mystical horse, but his power has been waning over the centuries. He gives up the last of his power to Woori so she can deal the final blow to Charlotte's demon form.
  • Sweet Baker: Casper was a gentle, kind man whose hobby happened to be baking.

     The Real One **UNMARKED SPOILERS**

Princess Sierra

The real Princess Sierra. After being tricked by Charlotte into falling into "eternal sleep", she is trapped inside a bead Charlotte wore on her head as a tiara.

  • Damsel in Distress: She's trapped inside her own tiara, begging Woori for help once she gets close to it during the final battle.
  • Driven to Suicide: She was so tired and anguished about the state of affairs revolving around her brother and her arranged marriage that she easily agrees to drink Charlotte's potion that will let her "sleep for eternity". Subverted by the end of the story, where she begs Woori to save her and stop Charlotte from committing more atrocities in her body.
  • Soul Jar: Charlotte hijacks her body and seals her inside the bead that resides in her tiara.
