"Can you not do that in here? I don't want your magic dust getting all over my goods."
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapters 4-5), Dress Treat! (costume only), another piece of candy, Starry Flowers (non-speaking cameo)
The protagonist, a human scientist living in a town full of witches. She is the owner of Atelier Sweets, the only candy store in town that sells non-magical candies.

    Gumdrop

Gumdrop, the Candy Golem

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_gumdrop.png
"Syrup! It is very important that we get along!"
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapters 5 and 8), another piece of candy, Starry Flowers
A girl made of living candy who mysteriously appears inside Syrup's shop. For some reason, she is very insistent on becoming Syrup's friend.
  • Anthropomorphic Food: She is a walking, talking candy person with gummy skin and taffy hair.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: After learning that candy is meant to be eaten, Gumdrop demands Syrup eat her. In the Candibal ending she gets her wish, and spends her last moments wondering if she and Syrup are friends.
  • Feel No Pain: She was not given the ability to feel pain, so she doesn't mind if someone takes a bite out of her.
  • Harmless Freezing: Being a golem made of candy, she is more vulnerable to freezing than most humanoids, but is also unable to die from it.
  • Let's Meet the Meat: Upon learning that candy is meant to be eaten, she immediately starts demanding Syrup to eat her. Agreeing to do so leads to a bad ending.
  • Logic Bomb:
    • The flashback of Pastille trying to program Gumdrop's personality shows her getting stuck in a loop when trying to process two conflicting commands "act like a person" and "be yourself".
    • In a more downplayed example, Gumdrop was told that Syrup is not allowed to know who created her, so when Gumdrop finds out that Syrup does know, she can only panic and demand Syrup forget about it.
  • Naked on Arrival: She is completely naked when Syrup first finds her.
  • Nice Girl: "Be friendly" is literally one of her primary directives, and she does her darnedest to fulfill it.
  • Nonhumans Lack Attributes: Her naked body is completely featureless and does not need to be censored at all.
  • Really Was Born Yesterday: She was freshly made when Syrup found her, and is incredibly simple-minded as a result.

    Pastille

Pastille, the Shop Assistant

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_pastille.png
"When have I ever NOT worked hard for you? Come on, Sy, give me a little more credit."
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapters 4-5 and 8), Dress Treat! (costume only), Starry Flowers, Starry Flowers: Mirror Call, Starry Flowers: Tempered Desire, another piece of candy
Syrup's friend and assistant. While Syrup focuses on making candies, it falls on Pastille to actually manage the shop.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: He has better people skills and is all-around more responsible than Syrup, and she'd never be able to keep Atelier Sweets running without his help, as shown in the bad endings.
  • Nice Guy: He is polite and good-natured, especially when compared to Syrup.
  • Only Friend: To Syrup, at first.
  • Walking Spoiler: He was the one who made Gumdrop as a friend for Syrup using magic.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He'll be disgusted if Syrup actually goes through with eating Gumdrop, and will leave and never come back.

    Butterscotch

Butterscotch, the Bratty Witch

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_butterscotch.png
"My magic isn't gross! And you should take this drool as a compliment! Nyeh!!"
Click here to see her true form.
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapter 3), another piece of candy
A witch who calls herself Syrup's rival, bent on uncovering the secrets of Syrup's candy alchemy.
  • Expressive Accessory: Her hat has eyes that move to match her current mood.
  • Power Incontinence: Her magic becomes unstable during the trip to Mount Sorbet due to a combination of stress, overestimating her own abilities, and the fact that she was already exhausting her magic to make herself look thinner.
  • The Rival: She butts heads with Syrup because she wants to steal the secrets to making alchemical candies.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: When Syrup accuses Butterscotch of creating Gumdrop as a prank, Butterscotch happily accepts the blame just to boost her ego, since creating a golem is an extremely difficult feat for most witches.
  • Vain Sorceress: She permanently wears an illusion spell that makes her look thinner, though she accidentally lets it come undone during the trip to Mount Sorbet.
  • Wicked Witch: Despite starting out as a petty rival, she has the potential to outright usurp the management of Atelier Sweets and start magically brainwashing people into buying candy from her, which even Syrup finds abhorrent.
  • Witch Classic: She lives in a cottage outside of town and makes potions for a living together with her cat companion, making her currently the most stereotypically "witchy" witch to appear in Nami's works. Plus, her outfit and color scheme give her a very Halloween-y aesthetic.

    Toffee

Toffee, the Pet Cat

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_toffee.png
"You should know I have a pawlicy of never asking too many questions. Curiosity only leads to trouble for folks like me."
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapter 3 + DATE TREAT), Dress Treat! (costume only), another piece of candy
Butterscotch's familiar and best friend, a mischievous cat person who loves talking in puns, nya.
  • All Witches Have Cats: It is common for witches and cat folk to seek companionship from one another, and Butterscotch and Toffee are no exception.
  • Prefers Going Barefoot: They are constantly barefoot by choice. One strip from another piece of candy has them being gifted a pair of hand-knitted socks to wear, which they immediately try to feed to Poffin the moth princess.
  • Pungeon Master: You could say they have a catrocious sense of humor, nya.
  • Verbal Tic: Ending their sentences with "nya". It should be noted that none of the other cat folk in Nami's universe do this.

Minor Characters

    Chocolate Twins

Dark Chocolate and Milk Chocolate

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_chocotwins.png
"Hello hello! The Chocolate brothers are making their entrance!"
A pair of wealthy witches who visit Atelier Sweets from time to time.
  • The Dividual: They literally always appear together.
  • Magic Librarian: Their family owns the Choco Library, where they like to hang out and guide visitors around during their free time.

    Treat

Treat, the Lonely Wolf

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syrupgame_treat.png
"Treat. It's my name. Now we're acquainted."
Also appears in: Lonely Wolf Treat (chapters 1-7 + side content), another piece of candy
A wolf girl who lives alone on Mount Sorbet. She may look scary, but is actually rather peaceful compared to the other wolves on the mountain.
  • Ascended Extra: Gains a starring role in the Lonely Wolf Treat series.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: This version of Treat has her ears tipped with tufts of fur and permanently has a sour look on her face. In her namesake series, the ear tufts are gone and she is a lot more expressive.
  • Furry Confusion: Syrup and Butterscotch run into a "real" wolf moments after meeting Treat. While this game doesn't provide an explanation, the Treat series reveals that wolves and other animal folk are able to shift between humanoid and animal form.
  • The Nose Knows: Just by smelling her, Treat is able to tell that Butterscotch has some useless magic cast on her, though she cannot figure out exactly what.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Though she is a lot more expressive in the Treat series, here she seems to permanently have a stern look on her face.
