Hanako Ito

Arcana: XIV - Temperance
Persona: Ishtar
Played by: Nonsequitur

"So, let's all stop wasting each others time with this?"

A first year at Rokujima, who's studying marine biology. Hanako is generally a nice person, maintaining a cool head in dire situations despite having a notable stubborn streak; while she gets along with most, she has gone through several events that have made her... considerably less nice. Thankfully, she's been gradually getting a bit better as of late.

  • Beware the Nice Ones: A kind and strong Persona user that can get extremely violent when the times call for it, especially against Shadows.
  • Determinator: She's a very driven individual.
  • Face of a Thug: Has a goth-ish aesthetic that can be intimidating to some, but is actually a fairly nice person.
  • Jack of All Stats: Hanako has access to many different skills - she has healing, offense, Decover, Null Fear, and even Luna Trap.
  • Mind over Matter: Ishtar uses Psi skills as its main method of offense, with some Almighty on the side.
  • Nice Girl: A fairly sweet person to be around, even if she's a bit rough around the edges sometimes and did get worse for a bit.
  • Perky Goth: A (mostly) cheery person with a goth-like sense of fashion.
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: She's trained in traditional Japanese archery.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Got considerably less nice and more violent after events connected to Eun's transformation. Thankfully, she's getting back to a better state as of late.

Reika Masuhara

Arcana: VII - The Chariot
Persona: Victoria
Played by: Espi

"Be careful up there. Didn't your parents ever warn you? You might end up in a wheelchair if you fall."

A Rokujima student studying computer science. Reika lost the use of her legs in an accident when she was young, but stubbornly refuses to allow it to define her, striving to be independent and successful. Highly competitive, Reika is strong-willed and occasionally abrasive, and has a strange sense of humor at times.

  • Computer Voice: Victoria speaks like this, though she is based on a female deity.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Reika makes dry remarks about pretty much any situation.
  • Disability-Negating Superpower: Her Persona has the power to fuse with Reika’s wheelchair, transforming it into a Roman-style war chariot that allows her to move around without hindrance as long as she’s in the Ruins.
  • Disabled Snarker: Often makes jokes about her paraplegia, even to strangers, because she thinks it’s funny when it makes them uncomfortable.
  • Handicapped Badass: Endeavors to be this.
  • Inspirationally Disadvantaged: Reika actively defies this and refuses to let other people see her this way.
  • Jack of All Stats: Fitting her desire for independence and self-sufficiency, Reika’s Persona has a mix of physical, magical, analysis, and healing skills.
  • Light 'em Up: Victoria attacks with Light skills.
  • Machine Monotone: Victoria’s dialogue is represented in all caps to reflect this. She also speaks using a lot of coding terminology; when first summoned, she even says “HELLO WORLD”, a phrase used in computing to check that a program is working when you first start it.
  • Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot: Reika’s Persona is a robot-chariot-angel-computer.
  • Super Wheelchair: Her Persona can become this, letting her zoom around effortlessly and also giving her access to Analysis.

Umeko Fuiji

Spectacle
Arcana: XVI - The Tower
Persona: Sweeney Todd
Played by: Shademaster

"You don't really know how things work around here, do you?"

A special effects and animation major. Umeko is a no-nonsense woman with an egotistical streak; on a good day she's smug and self-indulgent, and on a bad day she's petty and spiteful. Still, she's able to back up her ego with legitimate intelligence and a very task-driven mindset, and while being a very unpleasant person at best, holds a deep respect for others in her field. She masquerades as a costumed fellow known as Spectacle in the Ruins and is currently working with the Entity.

  • Berserk Button: Never imply you're better than her; Miya found this out the hard way.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: The woman who wears multiple hats completely seriously and has a homemade supervillain costume for the Ruins doesn't seem like the most intelligent person, right? Wrong.
  • Color Motif: Purple.
  • The Cynic:
    • Deconstructed. Umeko's sheer lack of faith in the Persona community leads her to joining The Entity out of the belief that it's the only possible path to victory and survival. She knows this will more than likely end with her dying or suffering some horrible fate either way, but she is so confident that the Persona community will fail against the Entity that she joins anyway because it might give her a chance to live.
    • This is played on even further when Hotaru calls her out on this. Instead of changing her ways, which Hotaru even gave her a chance to do, Umeko panics and shoves Hotaru off a cliff in a moment of weakness, then convinces herself she would have died anyway.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Umeko may be petty and awful, but she draws the line at murder... for now, anyway. She came awfully close to strangling Daigo and it may be a line she has to cross in the future, for her sake. This is subverted when she nearly murders Hotaru out of impulse - an event that was psychologically shaking enough for her Persona to ascend.
    • If someone can prove they're legitimately intelligent and know what they're talking about, especially if they're in her field or something similar, Umeko will respect them far more.
  • Evil Is Petty: Is she ever! She hates Miya for... standing up to her when she was being unjustifiably rude to people.
  • Evil Virtues: Loyalty, creativity, determination, and a strong work ethic are all respectable qualities Umeko has... that she primarily uses in her scheming against the Persona users.
  • The Heavy: She does the Entity's dirty work whenever asked.
  • Insufferable Genius: When in a good mood, she's rather arrogant and smarmy towards other people. That said, she is quite talented at animation and special effects, and is dangerously smart.
  • It's All About Me: Umeko is a very self-absorbed and egotistical individual; the biggest reason for her joining the Entity is to give herself a chance at survival... and also because she views everyone else as beneath her.
  • Jerkass: Umeko is not afraid to let anyone know that she has no time for them and can be petty, spiteful, and even childish at times.
  • Jumping Off the Slippery Slope: Umeko was already morally grey at best before, but what pushes her into full villainy is when she gets caught up in her anger and shoves Hotaru off a cliff.
  • Master Actor: As part of her major, Umeko knows a fair bit about acting and can actually change how she acts pretty easily. From her normal self to Spectacle to even her more professional presence at her ramen shop, she's pretty solid in the acting department.
  • Morality Pet: Umeko actually likes her uncle and her roommate (well, until said roommate learned the truth about her) and treats them both differently than she would others.
  • Narcissist: Arrogant, extremely prideful in her own work and expecting others to see her genius, and only concerned about herself - even when it comes to possible apocalyptic matters.
  • Never My Fault: Her Fatal Flaw. Umeko can't handle the guilt of thinking she killed one of her friends, and convinces herself that it was her fault for going up against her and that she deserved to die because she was already throwing her life away. This leads to her Persona evolving.
  • Oni: Her Spectacle costume is modeled after one of these.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Umeko will waste no time in taking an opportunity to make herself look good or give herself an advantage. Miya calling her out on her bitchiness? She turns the situation around to make her look like the bad guy in front of her uncle. World-ending Eldritch Abomination on the horizon? Join them to save your hide.
  • Properly Paranoid: After her first few initial slipups, Umeko starts being extremely careful when interacting with the Persona community, stealthily scrounging every thread on Bedlam and avoiding contact with known Persona users whenever possible. This turns out to be good for her, as she's able to keep her identity and her true allegiance under wraps.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Subverted. Umeko tries to use this twice to convince people that Spectacle is real, but very few people buy it. It's what gets her to start adjusting her strategies.
  • Schedule Fanatic: Umeko is very strict about her schedule, and gets cranky if thrown off.
  • Smug Snake: Umeko is a legitimately talented and smart individual who could probably do wonderful things with her various abilities and could be a serious threat. However, her biggest flaw is her ego, which causes her to make a few slip-ups early on due to assuming the Persona community is a lot dumber than they actually are. This is downplayed when she adapts very quickly to this.
  • Supernatural Fear Inducer: Her Entity abilities grant her the power to make people afraid of any creative works she produces. She uses this as a weapon by remaking her Spectacle costume.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Impressively, yes. After joining The Entity she's slowly but steadily gotten more irritable and threatening. This is likely due to her creativity being tainted, making it more difficult for her to produce the animation she loves.
  • Visual Pun: She wears three hats - a reference to her many hobbies and tasks, i.e. "wearing a lot of different hats".
