Minor Crewmates

    Ilija the Sniper
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ilija_sniper_5785.png
This is Ilija the sniper. Patron saint of the robbers.
Portrayed By: Ilija Petrusic

The PAYDAY Gang's go-to sniper for high-profile missions, Ilija can be hired as an asset in a number of heists to help the crew with lethal precision.

  • Badass Boast: Ilija calls out his kill number when he takes a shot, in addition to a few other lines.
*boom* First kill. It has begun.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Can call this out verbatim.
  • Cold Sniper: At first, since he only had a few lines.
    • Friendly Sniper: As more heists involving him have come out, his dialogue has expanded and become friendlier.
  • Creator Cameo: He's named after, voiced by, and modeled on Overkill/Lion Game Lion level designer Ilija Petrusic.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Has gone from "strictly professional" to "part of the crew" as the story has progressed.
  • Friendly Fireproof: Averted. He cannot tell the difference between normal cops and converted cops.
  • Honorary True Companion: He's essentially part of the crew, being their go-to sniper for many missions. At one point, he may insist on getting his own clown mask.
  • Improbable Aiming Skills: While it is true that his aim isn't perfect, the kills he makes are sometimes Beyond the Impossible: his shot may even hit targets that aren't even in his line of sight, sometimes even inside buildings. His aim could be considered a close second to Captain MacMillan.
  • Instant Death Bullet: Ilija does not actually deal damage, he's on a timer and will kill one target in his sight at random. Which means he can kill a Skulldozer with one shot, something the crew needs a rocket launcher to pull off.
  • Stealth Expert: He can, on some heists, be less than a hundred feet away from the heisters and the police. He can never be seen, and the cops never attempt to dig him out or at the very least make him move to a new sniping position.
  • Took a Level in Badass: When Ilija was originally introduced into the game, his usefulness was dubious at best due to him not being entirely accurate with his shots. A patch rectified the problem, making Ilija rarely miss his shots and being able to kill any enemy in a single bullet - even Bulldozers.
    • Can be (quite sadly) subverted, even after the patch - though the chance of missing has been reduced, it's still there, and Illija is still capable of missing several shots in a row.
  • Turncoat: Judging from some dialogue of the Russian mobsters in Day 2 of Hotline Miami, Ilija was originally one of their own. They say that the Commisar will shower him with wine and women to bring him back, but the PAYDAY Gang assassinate him before he gets the chance.

    Bile, Alex and George
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bile_payday2_545.jpg
I wanna lift off, people. Haul ass!
Bile voiced by: Glenn Wrage (PAYDAY 2), Doug Cockle (PAYDAY 3)
Alex voiced by: Ulf Andersson
George voiced by: Almir Listo

The PAYDAY Gang's go-to pilots for high-profile heists requiring air assistance. Bile, pictured to the right, is highly competent, George, not pictured, is...okay, given he had to work under a rainstorm, while Alex, again, not pictured, is... not very good at all.

  • Ace Pilot: Bile certainly fits the bill - in fact, he's labelled as such in the assets screen. Alex... not so much.
    • George could be considered this if he snags the balloon on the first try in the Green Bridge remake.
  • Butt-Monkey: Everybody hates Alex, even Bain. That said, he's one of the few pilots they can trust, so he still manages to stay on the team.
  • The Ditz: Alex isn't exactly the brightest guy in the world, tending to be a bit panicky during high-stakes situations.
    • In the second day of the Big Oil heist, if you choose to have Alex drop ammo bags on site, there's a very high chance that he'll toss them into places you can't reach such as below a cliff or on top of a tree. He pulled a similar stunt in the Panic Room job in the first game, something Bain will comment on.
    • Bile is this in the remake of Panic Room, where he has a chance of dropping explosives on the apartment's balcony instead of the roof, in full view of snipers and the road. Cut dialogue has even Bain surprised by his lack of skill at hand (and nearly calling him Alex), going so far as to shame Bile for his incompetence. Bile does sincerely apologise about his mistake, though.
  • The Faceless: While Bile's face has been revealed, as seen the image to the right, Both George and Alex's appearance remains a mystery.
  • Flanderization: For Alex. In the first game, he was a pretty good pilot, but horrible at dropping things on target. In the sequel, he's considered a bad pilot in general. This is mostly because his job in PAYDAY 2 consists of dropping things on target, in fairness.
  • Jerkass: As Bile pulls in during the end of the Aftershock heist, he says that authorities are trying to recruit him to extract wounded civilians from the 8.8 earthquake that happened before the heist. He refuses, saying that they and the injured civilians don't pay as well.
  • The Other Darrin: An odd case for Alex, as his Voice Actor was changed in the Undercover Remake, and sounds very different between PAYDAY: The Heist and PAYDAY 2. Whether or not Bain has a flair for the dramatic and hires another Alex to replace the previous one, or the Remake is an all-out Cutting Off the Branches situation, making the original Undercover heist from the first game non-canonical is up for debate.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: If the Scarface Mansion heist goes loud, Bain and the Butcher have Bile using a magnet to lift Sosa's expensive cars and drop them in the ocean to anger him. Bile eventually questions why he isn't just dropping them on the house instead. He drops the next car through a skylight, which has the desired effect.
  • Those Two Guys: Heists involving less than two helicopters interchange them at random, but they can appear together in certain circumstances, most notably Day 3 of Rats.

    The Spotter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asset-spotter_1913.png

The Spotter is the PAYDAY Gang's go-to man for stealth segments that could use an extra pair of eyes over them. As the name suggests, he spots any guard out in the open, highlighting whoever he sees to the crew. He can only be hired if at least one player has aced the "Sixth Sense" skill.

  • The Faceless: He was this for the longest time, to the point where even in his Asset picture, he has his face concealed by shadows. This was rectified in the Hoxton Housewarming Party event, in which one of the comical scenes depicted during each progressive day of the update shows him sitting on a couch next to Twitch the getaway driver, still holding those binoculars and recoiling with considerable concern as Wolf unveils a box full of concussion grenades he's cooked up.
  • Non-Action Guy: Unlike the other assists, he will not involve himself in combat in any way. As of Crimefest 2014, this has been subverted. He still doesn't get into combat, but he does remain in the area to mark out special enemies.
  • No Name Given: Not even a codename, just "The Spotter."
  • The Quiet One: He never speaks while he is doing his job. Although previously, if the mission went south, he would had inform the crew of his departure.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Prior to Crimefest 2014, he would bolt from the scene the moment the mission goes loud.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Some heists, mainly the pre-planning ones or in-door heists, has the option to employ an electronic spotter instead of the spotter himself, which functions the same, except the player can decide where it is set up and can place multiples of them in different areas. Sometimes you can even get both him and the camera.
  • Target Spotter: He is able to spot whoever is in the open, but not whoever is inside. Justified, as he is watching from a distance, out of harm's way.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Apparently during Crimefest 2014, since now he remains after the job goes loud to mark special enemies.

    Twitch
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2014-11-05_00003_6190.jpg
Twitch here. Whaddya need?
Portrayed By: Ronan Summers

The man behind the wheel in most of the game's jobs, Twitch is the crew's go-to getaway driver for ground transportation. If the job requires an escape vehicle, chances are, he'll be the one to drive it.

  • Cool Shades: He wears these to conceal his identity, as he hasn't earned a clown mask yet.
  • Ironic Name: His model has almost no character animations, and yet, he is called Twitch. The one exception is a possible escape plan in Breakin' Feds, in which we see him move away from an explosion to blow up a wall, while covering his ears.
  • Meaningful Name: Despite the above, Twitch lives up to his name by bolting it the minute law enforcement shows up. He also has the nerves of a toothpick during escapes, making him very twitchy indeed.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In some jobs, he'll outright bolt the moment the alarm is raised, wanting to avoid possible police opposition.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Every time the game triggers an escape mission, Twitch will crash the escape van and die. On occasions, however, he will come with another escape van good as new. Sometimes while the original Twitch's corpse is still present.
  • Too Dumb to Live: He has one specific moment of stupidity that tends to frustrate players. Specifically, on day one of Watchdogs, after you've secured the minimum amount of bags of cocaine, he'll announce that he's coming in to pick you up as usual. However, in the middle of the heated gunfight, he decides that the best spot to park of all places is directly in the middle of the street between the cop cars and the blown up truck. As expected, this will get him killed if you don't hurry.
    • On other heists he might park the van in a horrible spot if you’re doing stealth- for example parking it in front of the club in Nightclub.
  • Took a Level in Badass: In day 2 of the Hoxton Breakout, he rams the now-armorless truck into the FBI headquarter, then runs on foot to secure the crew another ride. The next time the player see him at the parking garage, he is seen riding a FBI van, all by himself. Impressive, from the guy who tends to crash the car and die during escapes.
  • Unexplained Recovery: He has a habit of dying when an escape mission is triggered, and coming back alive afterward as if it never happened.
  • You All Look Familiar: All the van drivers in the game look exactly the same, resulting in the odd situation of the crew being rescued by another Twitch after the first one died.
